1.2 x 1.2 will be good, however you could go a bit smaller if you wanted to. 1m x 1m or even 1.2m x 0.6m could work for you and ensure you can meet your 4 to 6 plant goal... Cheaper too in terms of tent size. Lights I would recommend LED, I personally prefer Quantum Boards but nothing wrong with LED strips either if you want to DIY. Extractor fan, you could get away with a 4" however a 6" with a speed control would be more ideal and quieter - I have heard good things about the Prima Klima fans and pricing is decent. They have a model which has 2 speed settings which is what I would recommend. Do you need a carbon filter? Is smell going to be an issue where you will be growing or can it stink up the place without any issues? The clip on fans do not seem to last based on my experience, they are also a bit pricey. I find the box fans or even a desk top oscillating fan works well. Get creative when hanging it, cable ties and/or rope ratchets work well to hang it inside a tent. Soil, coco, hydro - your choice end of the day. Rough pricing breakdown as follows: Tent: R2500 (Mars Hydro or similar brand, from Hydroponics) Light: R4250 (240W LED) Extraction fan: R1400 Carbon Filter: R770 (if needed) Oscillating fan: R199 Timer & Rope Ratchets: R500 Total cost so far, approx R9 619 You will need ducting for the extraction fan too which will bring you up to the R10k mark. You will have extra money if no carbon filter is required.5 points

1.2x1.2m tent Mammoth from Futurama someset west. Light 320w led DIY strips and driver from Digikey and source aluminum frame locally. See LED Gardener for specs on sprips and drive. 6" extractor fan grow guru was the cheapest last time i Looked which was years ago. 2x clip on tent fans from Hydrobiz Pots and trays. Soil orgasoilux from Jamies garden shop. The source clones don't plant seeds. You will probably have to invest in a dehumidifier at some stage for Winter. That is my take on it.4 points

As in everything, to much isn't good. Yes, to much IR will harm your plants, but it isn't also on the same scale with LED as it was with HID systems. The heat radiation (IR is part of it) is way more intense. So if you use the right distance and the right amount of IR, it will benefit your grow, as IR helps the plant by stimulating photosynthesis, growth and flowering, among other needed processes in the plant. If you use lights without IR (yes, works) and reach the top of your tent.. no need for IR. But if you reach with IR plant size around 1.20 to 1.50 meter.. they would be smaller without IR. I avoid UV.. and read some articles in the last months, that I might even have to revise that opinion. But UVA seems to be beneficial to potency, were UVC and UVB are harmful. I look to get 315-400nm diodes and test that ^^ But then again.. IR stimulates raisin production too.. at least to my knowing ^^ For now I stick with my 3000k 660nm QB288s (have 8 in use).. and reach 2 to 2.5g per watt. @PsyCLown the IR range starts around the 700nm, you can count the 660 in.. as it is part of the radiation handling some vital processes in the plant. There are some strains.. very hungry for IR during flowering.. any OG Kush or SDs thrive best with. And to my knowing IR is one of the best to interact with the phytochromes, which are special light receptors and regulate essential processes like plant stem growth, how the leaves expand and flowering. I don't tell people what to use.. me for my part.. I always use boards with IR on them. I wrote a little guide not to long ago:3 points

Welcome to the forum @Light It Up @Prom majority of LED lights do not have Infra Red. None of my QBs have IR diodes on them and I have not had any issues. I have some boards with 660nm diodes but I cannot notice any difference between the plants grown under the QBs with 660nm diodes and the QBs with just the plain 3000k diodes... Although I know this is 660nm and not IR. What difference have you noticed with the IR? What benefits does it have over QBs without IR?3 points

Hi Prom, For now we are only offering the 120W and 240W light options as we feel this is what majority of growers would be interested in. We will consider expanding and offering some larger lights if there is demand, if you are interested in a larger Quantum Board light let us know and we could bring some in for you with our next order. Our boards do not have any IR diodes. I believe IR can lead to plants stretching, much like Far Red. We believe one does not require IR in order to flower cannabis, we as well as many other growers have done so successfully without LEDs and no IR. If you feel it adds benefit though, that may be the case and we are happy to assist and look at bringing in some lights with IR diodes. We would like to offer 3000K boards as well however there have been stock issues with the Samsung diodes and we were unable to get the 3000K boards with our last order from the manufacturer unfortunately. The 3500K is often seen as a happy medium for both veg and flower, although we know many use 3000K for both veg and flower as well without issues. We agree with you regarding the number of lights required for a 1.2m x 1.2m tent. 3 to 4 QB288 (360w to 480w) would be ideal. With that being said you can still achieve good results with fewer lights. We understand that setting up an indoor grow can be quite expensive and some may choose to start with a single light and add additional lights later on when they are able to. We have updated the foot print for our lights, the previous figures were incorrect. The footprints do not necessarily mean it will provide the ideal amount of usable PPF for such an area, it is more a guide as to what is the maximum area one should considering having the light in. If anyone require any assistance, guidance or are unsure as to how much light they will require they are welcome to reach out to us. This website also has a nice grow light calculator which can assist someone in finding the optimal amount of light required for their grow area. https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/grow-light-calculator/3 points

4 of the 9 are up. One damped off. I have other seeds soaking in case the remaining 4 dont come up. The seeds are fresh and should be chilling out a bit for the inhibitors to wear off, but I'm too curious about this cross too wait.2 points

@Prom Thank you for the information, we will look into it. Currently we do not have any boards with IR diodes, however if anyone is interested in Quantum Boards with IR diodes, please do contact us and we will look at getting some.2 points

Very well placed in the market, nice and affordable. Keen to see the back Friday special! Anybody currently using these q boards???2 points
-
Hi Wulf, We will be having some Black Friday specials - keep an eye on our vendor board for more details. The 240w light, it would depend on the size of plants and the tent. We would say around 4 to 5 average sized indoor plants however we have seen some squeeze 6 plants under a 240W light and achieve decent results. It would work well in a 1.2m x 0.6m tent.2 points

@Light It Up lets start with the welcome! had a quick look... i guess you guys just setup? QB288s... 2 options you offer right now. The single QB shows on the picture IR diodes. So the 3500k 660nm would work as grow board. Using just one for veg on a 1.2x1.2... is a bit "optimistic". I love QBs too, but they are not 'that' good the 3500k would be my second choice, care to elaborate why you offer only those? Pure interest, the 3500k boards work, no argument here The dual board... yes you can hang one in a 2.4x1.2 tent, but that wouldnt be enough to actually light it calculate at least 3 boards, better 4, for a 1.2x1.2 meter space. The picture you use shows a board without IR and would no be useable as grow light for flower. Infra red is one of the mayor wave lenght needed. Distances you provide are for germination, vegetative and flower state?2 points

The girls are 7 days into 12/12, and already its getting cramped. 3 plants are nearing their end though, so more space will open up soon for the remaining 62 points

Hi Guys As I have mentioned I am a total Newbie and need some help. I am trying to determine what size tent one should get and what light will work with that tent. So if Im looking to grow 4 to max 6 plants indoors, then what size tent should I be looking at? And also what type of light, by this I dont mean HPS, LED etc, I have decided that if I do get a indoor setup then I will want to use LED. If I were to buy the indoor set up I would look at spending 10k. Your opinons are much appreciated!1 point

Definitely not abandoned. Each cross will get their own grow as space opens up. The slurricane mother has been my favorite this year so kicking off with them first.1 point

They all got a neem spray today as part of my routine pest management. They get one more in a week from now as the last spray before peak flowering. Is this a bit better @CreX ? Lol1 point

@SkunkPharm WOW! Thanks dude! Sounds like solid advice.1 point

Update time on the ... Number 1 is about 4 weeks into flower, transplant stress may have delayed things... stretching has slowed down, but still good growth going on. Number 2 is about 2/3 weeks, would prefer not to train this one and see the contrast but we will see how she grows.1 point
-
@Heteropyxis i see you have some sort of fix for this in mind currently. i will still say stick to leaving them as is for now...and focus on your veg area and get rid of them there. then harvest and clean your tent well and then going forward you should have little to no issues with thrips anymore rather not taint your current harvest if the thrips arent that hectic you can use almost anything and everything in veg. but flower time is especially sacred1 point

Thanks man, been growing these Blueberry Kush sisters a few years now. Was a very low EC grow, fed mostly organics, to chunk em up a bit a higher EC helps. This line leans towards the Thai's from DJ shorts Kootenay Blueberry selections. The kush line is more the dense Afghan nuggies. Thanks a lot bro, appreciated!1 point

@Light It Up Hiya, Awesome to have you guys on board. 2 questions, will you guys be having any black Friday specials? AlsoI am a newbie so pardon the ignorance, the 240w light you have, how many plants can one have under that light? TIA1 point

Agreed, that does look very tasty. Well done @Dank Frankly I dont really mind what the bud looks like, if its pretty...bonus. Priority for me is scent/smell, taste and effect/potency.1 point

Bit of a tricky one, I have sprayed Pyrol in flower before and then I bud wash come harvest time. Pyrol works wonders for getting rid of thrips. Alternatively, although its a lengthy process and may not be ideal not ... maybe for future reference though, you get a fungus which will grow on pests and kill them. That can be used during flower without issues I believe, it is called Beauveria bassiana and Argo Organics sell it under the name Bio-Insek. A few other places sell it as well.1 point

that is what we talk about! Not the densest, but for a winter grow, rather excepional result. That looks rather tasty, @Dank Very much dialed in! Plant Porn1 point

I've done some defoliating on the bottom halves of the plants. The extra space makes watering much easier and the plants are looking pretty neat and tidy. I am pretty much ready to flip I am already looking to beat my last harvest by some and I don't want to over-veg. I'd say I am close to halfway high on one corner of the tent. The supercropped Aurora Indica is looking pretty level at last. Very happy with the management of that particular girl.1 point

1 Month Update Am rather impressed by how well these have grown over the last month Have transplanted all 3 to larger sized pots last night, so far the Alien Tarantula & OKC are taking the transplant like its nothing only the Slurry that's showing slightly droopy from a bit of shock. @SkunkPharm Thanks again, these are sure to be legendary once finished1 point

Been a long reveg, but planted the girls up into 15l. Slurricane, blunicorn, spumoni and chocolate gelato. 1-2 weeks veg to settle, then I'll flip. I had to do a lot of cleaning up as the reveg girls were way too bushy. The chocolate gelato pollen donor female is already in flower.1 point

Ok so here's the retake on my fem run for the year. A bit of a switch in genetics. I'm doing a reversal on a chocolate gelato female. Blunicorn, slurricane, chocolate gelato females. All reveg clones that are just about done revegging. Going to let these girls get to a nice size, as they are only 4 that are going to move into flowering in a month or so.1 point
