  1. You are correct! I forgot to factor in the required yield - from autos (experienced grower, good breeder/genetics, and heavy yielding strain), you'd need two medium plants to produce the 140+g to keep you going while your next crop is growing, but if you have enough juice light wise, you could probably push 200g out of a topped, lst/scrog'd regular/photo period plant in a 70x70x160, but then again, if grown from seed you add around a month onto your grow cycle (auto vs photo), so he might run out before next crop is done, you also have to factor in 7 to 10 days of drying and 45+ days of curing (minimum I cure before I start smoking my buds). That's the one thing about growing cannabis, one grower can achieve 200g from the same clones as the guy next door, who only achieves 60g, so many factors that come into play, so it makes it a bit hard to guestimate yields, but working off of my experience, a very cheap setup and beginner grower can get at least 50g of decent quality bud from a grow, barring any major incidents along the way (pests, deficiencies, toxicity, etc). Then lastly, a bit of research always makes a huge difference... in my opinion it's very beneficial to understand the stages of the plant, effects of light intensity and spectrum, understanding how plants update nutrients and how growing in different grow mediums have an effect on the buds in certain aspects (sweetness & taste, etc), such an amazing herb. Anyhow, all the best and happy growing!

  2. 70 x 70 may not reach the required amount of bud, although if its in combination with some plants outdoor then it could work. The server fan wont work with a carbon filter, which will be required he if needs to be discreet. Although growing outside will draw attention... So really depends on how discreet he needs to be. If there is no need for a carbon filter then a PC / server fan will work for sure, I basically did that when I first started growing as I was not using a tent and it worked really well actually. I have also used a PC fan in a drying tent with good success to avoid the RH spiking too high.

  3. R10k for a start up indoor grow is a bit on the tight side but possible, provided the grow is on the smaller side. 40g a month, call it 6 months to harvest for shits and giggles, works out to 240g. This can easily be achieved in a single 1.2m x 0.6m tent Thumbsuck pricing on some items: Tent: R2 400 LED Light: R4 250 Carbon Filter: R1 500 Extraction Fan: R1 450 Oscillating or Box fan: R300 Total: R9 900 There are still some items he will need to purchase, soil or coco, pots, nutes, ph pen, timer, ducting, seeds comes to mind. However the largest equipment purchases will fit in with his R10k budget. I reckon he should be able to pull at least 300g dry from that tent with a good grow. Also doubt it will be 6 months from seed to smoke, most likely quicker. Autos for outdoors work well, especially now that it is summer and we have longer hours of sunshine.

  4. A good sativa or sativa/indica hybrid should assist with these symptoms if it is harvested at the correct time/stage. (Can not emphasise this enough) Some strains are better at alleviating said symtoms, but many times its a question of what works for you. Racy/paranoid effects are usually associated with clear tricomes. I've started inspecting the tricome colours of our dried buds before smoking, as not all the buds from the same plant ''ripen'' at the same pace.

  5. Thank you for the feedback and advice. Probably not, enough wind and far enough from neighbours noses, but not their eyes. So when you include seeds, good medium, pots, pans, nutrients, you probably looking at R15000. Yeah we kinda agreed that the budget was a little to high for some personal smoke, and will be waiting on him for a budget on some auto's. Its still not out the questions as I might be able to organise some good quality lights from a grow that is closing down. Again thanks for the advice.

  6. If you DIY your lights and exhaust fan setup (for a smaller tent a 12V 120mm high airflow server fan (around 150CFM) is a much cheaper option and is sufficient) and for a single plant DIY light you can get away for around R1500 all in (depending on what components you use), so you can still shave off quite a bit if you do a smaller (say 70x70x160) setup and DIY a few things.

  7. I have a cheap 4" inline fan running in my 1.2x1.2. I think it coa me roundd 850. Bought it from ACDC.express. it does the job. I do not run an carbon air filter on it. For that you will need a bigger/better fan.

  8. I rate you can get away with less of you DIY. But you can definately spend more depending. Buy a tent. You can DIY a veg area. If a grow takes 12 weeks and you can get 100+ grams off 2 plants it is viable. But pricing above is about what it costs.

  9. From spinach to debates as to what cannabis is classified as, quite the change. I do not know all that much about different types of plants and categories etc. but anyways. Paper was made by the Egyptians from papyrus, which is a reed I think and therefore the trunk / stem is similar to that of a banana tree which is not very wood like if I am not mistaken. One can make paper from leaves too though. Fruit and veggies are typically consumed by one eating them, while you can eat cannabis it's kinda pointless unless you apply some heat to it and is generally not the way in which cannabis is consumed. In veg the stems are rather soft and supple, in flower this changes and the stems thicken and harden. Cannabis is cannabis, not sure one can accurately judge it amongst other fruit and veg and should likely have it's own category.

  11. I think @Wulf is referring to an exhaust fan, so an inline fan as opposed to a fan used for circulating air within the tent. Prima Klima I believe make decent fans, but not sure anyone has stock of them at the moment. AC Infinity are great, but not cheap at all.

  12. Hi @Wulf Yes I have 4 fans in total but the main ones are the box fans. I have a 6 inch extractor fan(not the best but will upgrade when I can) and I use a passive intake

  13. Tomatoes would be classified in the same category as cannabis considering they share similar principles in distinguishing between whether they are a vegetable or fruit. You are adding now other categories which I am going to ignore, because you wanted to "debate" whether cannabis is a vegetable or fruit. Therefore I asked what your tannies would have classified the tomato, as whatever answer that would be, would then also be the answer for cannabis.

  14. @CoolJ hey bud Thanks 4 the response! Much appreciated. I just wanna be clear, so you have a total of 4 fans running? Also what are you usinf to draw air in and what are you using to take the air out again? TIA

  15. I agree with @Bos. And if that doesn't help do some exercise. Exercise plus cannabis isn't just good for you, it will also make you sleep like a baby.

  16. Hi man, I have the exact same tent. It's pretty decent just not a fan of the thin floor sheet other than that it's pretty good. I have find box fans(that has oscillating function) move more air than most "grow" fans and they are like R350 from Game. I have 2 that I will have at different heights and 2 small clip on fans from clicks. Re:Light. I have 1 240w QB and 2x90 Modugrow but I only grow in about 1m^2 because I don't feel it's enough light for the full space, 480w would probably be better but you can always add on as you go. Good luck man!

  17. Similar thing happened with a friend of mine, he started using Kratom and was under the impression it wouldn't be addictive or cause any issues. Not the case, he ended up going through quite a bit as well and when he tried to stop it was really difficult and he too had withdrawals. I tried it once or twice but found the effects to be very subtle and I struggled to get it down. The taste is bad and the powder clumps etc.

  18. Did not read all the posts, although I find this quite interesting. I have had friends who have struggled with paranoia and cannabis, not panic attacks though. I have had a friend of mine pass out after smoking and seen another person pass out after vaping some decent indoor weed I had... The latter was directly after eating some food I cooked so I thought he perhaps was having an allergic reaction or something - got me worried actually. I have experienced some paranoia although I know that it stems from the weed and I am able to manage it, never had a panic attack from weed though. The worst experience was probably eating edible when I was sick and at a party and had flu, I felt bad and ended up throwing up. I read an article about weed being mature vs immature and the affects one with regards to REM sleep and anxiety & paranoia etc. Dabbled with it slightly and from what I was able to tell it did seem to increase (paranoia, anxiety, feeling groggy the next morning) with weed which had not matured. I will also be curious as to how someone experiencing some paranoia or anxiety would feel after smoking a good high CBD strain or a CBD strain with less than 1% THC as I find this does calm one down quite heavily and relax someone. I have some high CBD, low THC bud but don't really suffer from this issue so been hard for me to test it properly however I know that @CreX also found that smoking a high CBD, low THC strain first and then moving onto the high THC stuff helped him avoid paranoia / anxiety. Perhaps he can share more of his experience and what it did for him etc. I do believe that cannabis, like other psychoactive substances, is affected by mindset and your setting. It may be more inclined to push you more into one direction (positive), however can certainly push you in the other even without you noticing or by having some stuff sitting in your sub-conscious.

  19. Eishhh.... heard too many similar stories. As a first time smoker, just ease into it. Take one or a few small puffs at first and wait for the effects, then decide if you need more. Edibles are a little different cause it takes longer to get into your system, that's where noobs make the mistake, they don't wait long enough and end up having too many. It's a question of dosage and tolerance. One thing that pisses me off when ''experienced'' smokers hand a noob a joint or a bong and tell them to ''hit'' it and the poor oke gets next level stoned/NDE. Everybody has the freedom to choose but they get put off totally when the first experience is over the top. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  20. Well said! Brand new users should slowly build up tolerance to more potent hybrids, tolerance is something that can only be gained over time. Some people won't enjoy the high thc strains and much prefer the CBD dominant varieties.

  21. It happens to so many people that I think a user has to be really naive to think that weed has nothing to do with panic attacks and paranoia but I personally don't think weed is the direct cause. I reckon its a person's mind and their ego. To me cannabis multiplies an emotion. If you're happy, cannabis will make it even better. If you're chilled, cannabis will make you more chilled. If you're worried about something, cannabis will make you even more worried about it to the point that you can't breathe. If you think that you're gonna die, cannabis will make you feel pretty damn convinced that you will. Cannabis is a mild psychedelic. The very same things happen to people who've had bad trips on acid, thinking they're dying, can't breathe etc. You're wrestling with your ego and that's where the panic attacks come in. You have to be in the right mind space. If you can just calm your mind or get your mind off those negative thoughts you'll notice how you come right again. I've experienced the very same things, especially where breathing is concerned. Also times when I feel like I'm gonna pass out. This always happens when I'm sitting and not doing much. If I'm out being mobile it never happens. Which to me shows me that it's in my mind Just my

  22. Shit @NinjaMaster , do you have any seeds from that sounds like the bombay dog!!! Assuming this is not caused by moldy weed, which is what happens a lot of the time to people, here are a few tips from a old puffer. Remember to breathe, this is why you smoked that potent herb, to get the thc through the system, then tell yourself its legal so you wont end up arrested, at the same time remind yourself nobody has died from weed. Then grab a nice LEMON, a glass of some nice water, squeeze about half a lemon into the glass, gooi in a half a teaspoon of salt, stir it up well and drink up. This is also for people that get too baked on edibles. What usually happens is your blood pressure is dropping like a rock, irregular breathing or some other things that your system needs to process, for some reason lemon water with salt works like a charm. Advice is from edible users Colorado USA where i first heard it

  23. Hey everyone, Long time lurker of the forums. I started reading through this forum when I grew my first indoor starting in November 2018. Shout out to the homies at GTHydro that sorted me out on some nice Black/Green Friday deals. I'd also like to shout out hydroponic.co.za, Grow Guru and Hydro Herb Africa. I decided early on not to buy all my stuff at one place and I am immensely stoked at the quality of service from all the mentioned outlets. I've tried another local forum that has a few marijuana consumption/growing topics but I wasn't getting the vibe I was looking for and I didn't want to put in effort into that forum community if it wasn't going to grow and reciprocate. So here I am, looking for like-minded people with a love for the herb. I am eager to learn more on growing this wonderful plant, and I look forward to sharing the experience with the people here

  24. Herbaceous plant "vascular plants that have no persistent woody stems above ground". if you have ever taken the time to dry the stems of cannabis and grate them down you will see how woody they come out. Damn strong, lots of fibre. Its very confusing.
