I found a new little hydro shop pop up in the Irene area. Their soils are priced nice, Living Organics is R170. Usually I'm paying like R190-R200 a bag. They also have a "smoking section" and a head shop. I've been there twice now and was always offered a chat and a blunt while scoping out the products. No affiliation just wanna shout out some cool dudes.6 points

Hi, I thought I would get this board started with one of the best cultivars available on the market today. I'm sure most of you are familiar with Karma's work, but for those who are not, he is one of the better breeders of OG Kush variants. His Biker Kush is phenomenal. Headbanger is his version of the infamous Headband. He used an old Sour Diesel IBL and crossed it to his Biker Kush (Hells Angel OG x Lucifer OG). This created a big yielding SD IBL dominant cultivar. It has been getting rave reviews for a while now. Whenever he does a drop of Headbanger, they are usually sold out pretty quickly. Sometimes hours after the drop happens. This is why we are very proud to currently have stock of Headbanger. This is a cultivar we will keep stocking as long as it is available. Hey brother, thanks for the response. I agree they are a little pricey. We will work on trying to get them in a bit cheaper in future. Who knows... there might be a special or a competition in the not too distant future.3 points

While we are on the subject of microbes and fermentation, I would like to raise an important issue that I see is a real problem. There are countless articles and videos on the internet on organic gardening advising people to leave tap water in a container standing overnight to supposedly get rid of the chorine in the tap water. As anyone that keeps freshwater fish will know, this is a big mistake that many organic gardeners keep on making. The first problem is knowing if chlorine is really the only issue or if chloramines are present in the water. Chlorine is a very volatile gas and hence why people are advising to just let the water stand to get rid of the volatile gasses. This is called off-gassing the chlorine. Let's assume for a moment that chlorine is the only problem and you are trying to get rid of it by letting the water stand overnight. 2 ppm of Chlorine can take up to 5 days to evaporate from 50 liters of standing water. Ultraviolet light, water circulation and aeration, temperature and the area of the surface of the water exposed to the air will speed up the off-gassing process. None the less, it's very unlikely that you will get rid of even half the chlorine in a container by just letting in stand overnight. Due to this volatility and rather instability of chlorine, local authorities and governing bodies today are switching to using chloramines instead. Chloramines give off much less of that familiar chlorine odor and the water tastes much better as well. Unlike chlorine, chloramine does not evaporate so easily from water. Chances are pretty big if you are using municipal tap water, that it has been treated with chloramines, rather than, or in conjunction with chlorine instead of chlorine only. You can get rid of chlorine and chloramine by boiling. It takes a considerable amount of boiling to get rid of chloramine though. 1 ppm of chloramine in 40 liters of water will need to be boiled for at least 1 hour to get rid of all the chloramines. Not really a practical option. My advise is to use a chemical option to neutralize any chlorine and chloramines present. My favorite two options are ascorbic acid and sodium ascorbate. Ascorbic acid will lower the Ph of the water, while sodium ascorbate is Ph neutral and will not change the Ph. Very little is required of either ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate to neutralize the chlorine and chloramine in water and these are easy to come by and rather cheap as well. If you buy 500mg ascorbic acid tablets from the pharmacy, you can use 1/4 tablet (125mg) per liter of water. Theoretically, you can use even quite a bit less than that, but I've been using this ratio for a very long time with success. Note: A water quality report from Tshwane June 2020 (my local gov) shows Monochloramine levels at average rate of 1.24mg per liter and free chlorine at 0.09mg per liter. This shows a rather big inclination to treat water with chloramine.2 points

The US House of Representatives has passed a bill to decriminalize cannabis at a federal level in an historic first. The move could also pave the way for reassessments of previous federal marijuana convictions. https://www.rt.com/usa/508733-us-house-vote-decriminalize-cannabis1 point

I have read so many reviews in the last couple of days regarding this strain but unfortunately its a bit above budget. Hopefully next year but its awesome that you stock such a strain.1 point

Nice fan, but you still need 2... one in, one out. I have a 150 3 speed version on my 1.2x1.2 running lowest speed, is very silent, i give em that1 point

Yip that's right only setting up half the tent for starters. So hopefully I got enough light for flowering the 1.2mx1.2m. With regards to the fan it's actually a Hz-100 mixed up the letters...1 point

very much agree on the COB... if you add 1 more of the LEDs you have, you run 660watts over 1.2x2.. is enough. But you can also nicely adapt to different canape hights. Stick to 1.2x1.2 for now and add the next light when it fits the wallet. 1.2x1.2 is a rather big grow space. If you do a good run and use the light correct, 2 grams per watt, should be easy reachable. With 440 watts, you should reach over 800g dry. How many plants is relative and depends on the strain and what type. If you do a proper 17 cut mainlining, 4 photo plants will need the space. Or 9 tall growing autos or 16 small growing autos. The better you know the strain, the better you know what is coming size wise. Stick to what you have and can handle.. a full space brings other challanges. After 2 grows, you know very well what makes sense to add to your setup. The lights you have are in my preferred config spectrum wise. I think you will enjoy your grow time. Just watch those temperatures!1 point

Just BTW Samsung do no make those boards, they only make the diodes. Do not be caught off with the way some retailers word their lights. I reckon 10+ plants in such a space, you would want more light for that area however you could get away with what you have but results wouldn't be the same as if you had more lights obviously. As for adding a COB, you could but I would personally rather have a quantum board or LED strips over a COB. Better spread and more even coverage when compared against a COB, although it does also depend on the COB but generally speaking a COB wont have the same spread / coverage when compared against QBs or strips.1 point

I'm a systems engineer by profession, so my interest in the microcosm is purely as a result of it's direct interaction and involvement in the plant world and my love for plants has inevitably led me to the microcosmos. I don't have any formal background or education in microbiology, so it's a whole new world to me. As a systems engineer though, it is truly fascinating for me to see the amount of engineering and design that nature has put into the microcosmos and the rabbit hole hasn't stop for me since. I came across this YT channel, called Journey to the Microcosmos. It features over 70 videos of microbial organisms and the image quality of their microscope work is very good. I'm listing the channel here as a resource for the subject. Meet the Microcosmos1 point

I think there is some miss communication here, or whoever did it got some skewed info. HBO is sometimes referred to as honey. There is absolutely no reason to put normal honey on anything you are planning to smoke. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk1 point

It's really just normal and necessary rules, nothing surprising. But I am glad I read it. I get that you wouldn't want spammers and such, but I think there's room for growth and adaptation, one thing I really like about Cannabis Club is the online shopping portal they have where you can buy from our local seedbanks through the site's portal, it a feature I would really love for the administrator to look into. But I think the seed exchange is also great and I'd love to take part in it when I harvest my first, should the males polinate or whatever. For anything to work properly, rules need to be adhered to and I'm glad that there seems to be a clear goal on creating a safe space for us on here. Sent from my ALE-L02 using Tapatalk1 point
