  1. I put mine for 2 hours in a 60 degree oven.. usually after 1 hour it stops to bubble. They can do extracts with the machine too.. I will meet the guy and test my extracts too. Then I can tell you how pure they are. Will also send a batch to Qure and see if they get the same result with the bigger gear Confirmation is sexy ^^ Pressing is nice, but you leave also a lot behind in the material. I prefer to wash the material for eating or medical application ^^ try to get all out. If you bubble before you press.. yes, makes very much sense.. but you also need the gear to bubble. Butane extraction is the class cone (400 Rand) (around 50g material per wash), a coffee filter (you get a hundred for 25 Rand), a stainless steal icing sif at PnP or Checkers (30 Rand) (you still have to cut it in shape for your cone). I recommend a non stick plate to collect and put in the oven (200-300 rand) and the Butan gas from the shop, depending how much you have to wash (1 kg of bush weed (the seedy shit you get at the robots ) I wash with 16 cans). Check to have the temp around 65-70 degrees in the oven (digital one helps).. just wait till it stops to bubble, then wait another hour. Yes, you can vacuum it.. I use a clothing bag and a bucket with a lid and a hole.. but.. I stopped doing that.. if something boils at -3 and is for 2 hours in 60 degrees.. is just gone ^^ and the extra clean Newport gas leaves ZERO solvents back. We sprayed a full can on a plate and let it evaporate. Plate was clean after. Just use the right gear and you get a very clean extract. We press too ^^ have a sexy 10T press.. but.. that is more for dabing/vaporizer. The stuff I wash is purely for eating or make CBD capsules for medication. Gets lab tested anyhow, or I couldn't measure the dosage to inject in the capsules, so I try to get the last bit out of the material... nothing against pressing but to much waste to my liking. And pressing and then wash the rest is just one step to many ^^

  2. Hey all! 'Tis the season to be merry and jolly and I suppose to give to others as well. I also feel that if anyone wants to grow a CBD plant, they should be able to. I have some CBD Charlottes Angel feminised seeds which I am happy to give away to a few members who are keen to grow out a CBD plant. This plant supposedly has THC under 1% and CBD upto 16% but I have seen lab tests where the CBD ends up over 20% actually. So basically you are not going to get much of a high from this plant, but you should be getting quite a bit of CBD. I grew it out and can confirm that smoking or dabbing it, not much of a high at all but certainly does have a calming effect. I will cover the cost of shipping. This will work on a first come first serve basis. Each pack will contain 3 seeds. I am more than happy for everyone on this forum to share with each other - be it the seeds you received or a cutting once you have started to grow the plant out. Ultimately I will be limited by the amount I am willing to spend on shipping as it does add up rather quickly. If you are interested, reply to this thread stating why you would like to grow out this CBD plant and then we can arrange the shipping - I will drop you a PM to get the shipping details. I may wait until all seeds have been claimed before I ship them out - this will make it easier for me as I can then do a single trip and ship them all at once. Once everything has been claimed, I will reply to this thread notifying everyone that the giveaway has come to an end. Keep safe and enjoy the festive season!

  3. Been a busy past week, harvested a couple plants and after giving them a bud wash, they are drying. I transplanted my two Pure African sativa autos from Green Smoke Room after three weeks in the veg tent into the greenhouse and didn't seem to see any slowing of growth. My Alien OG from Green Smoke Room is trying it's best to become a Christmas tree, just a super wide plant. Trump's Cookie Jar auto by President seeds still chugging along taking it's time. Dosidos auto by Barneys Farm looking good, want to start another properly soon. Three new autos a few days old, Purple Merkel by President Seeds, Black Cream auto by Sweet Seeds, and Lavender Best by bulk seedbank. I started these seeds out soaking in a cup of distilled water for around a day and then just putting the seed into a popcorn bucket with half seedling mix in the top and organics matter living soil in the bottom half. I like these popcorn buckets as they are tall and easy to cut drainage holes into and when you want to transplant you can just cut it off easily without disturbing the roots. The seedlings all came up after two days and were given some explogro to help the roots. They will be transplanted into the greenhouse after three weeks into Organics Matter living soil. Light in Veg tent is a Liontree 100W LED double barrel advanced.

  4. Increased the power a bit now. Tent is around 1.8M and the plant is flowering, about 7 weeks in now and it's an Auto Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

  5. Well, are your plants in veg or flower? How old are they? Also 35cm above canopy should be fine but doesn't sound right that it's the highest you can hang the light - perhaps send a picture for us to see. How tall is your tent and your plants?

  6. I am not in Durban, currently no grow going... However temperature and humiditiy, without an AC and/or dehumidifier you will never be able to achieve and maintain RH and/or temp below the ambient RH and temp. Simple as that. If the room you are growing in is say 30C and 70% RH, the lowest you will be able to get it inside your tent would be 30C and 70% RH. I am not aware of anything which will make a significant difference and be able to maintain that unfortunately.

  7. Only option I would use such a tent is as cloning production. mothers in the big part, fresh clones in the small part, till they go in the grow tent ^^ but I wouldn't use it to raise them due to different plant stage and size. looks nasty to keep a good ventilation going in the small part with the setup in your picture.

  8. So my thing with those tents is that I do not feel it suits my needs properly. I feel the way the space is divided is a bit of a waste. It does not allow for me to do a perpetual grow, the veg area is more of a seedling area and cannabis seedlings do not stay small for very long. I'd rather have a dedicated veg tent and keep the seedlings as well as vegging plants inside there and then have a separate tent for flowering. Having one of those tents, if I started plants in the smaller area, I'd likely have to move them to the larger area and veg them there for a while longer before I could flip to flower. Therefore I feel it is a waste and ruins the appeal to having a split tent. If the smaller section could allow for one to veg plants until they were large enough to go into the flower section and had enough space to be able to fill the flower secton from the veg section - then sure. It would in essence be like having 2 separate tents, in a single tent. However... they are once again separate. So double the lights, double the extraction (unless you use a Y-connector I guess) and so forth. End of the day it comes down to a single larger tent which is split vs two separate tents. Much of a muchness, just the two separate tents offer more flexibility. However the single larger is likely going to be cheaper... but I have yet to find a split tent where the veg and flower area are the same size or large enough to justify using it for a perpetual.

  9. I still wait for the results of the buds but he warned me, will be Friday, as he is busy today. I have to wash a batch of CBD and THC, the same material also goes in the press.. so that will be a interesting test.. I actually guess will be around the same numbers. Have a digital oven.. goes from 50 up to 320.. in single degrees. I tested 50 60 and 70 degrees.. wouldn't go over those number. I ended up on 65.. time and result fit. Results are honey color.. ^^ or you vacuum it and get a yellow sponge. I prefer the honey for dabing, easier in my opinion, no sticky fingers Just if somebody gets the thrill to try Bhutan extraction.. is really really simple, only do that OUTSIDE!!!!! and when there is a bit of wind going.. you handle a flammable gas. Any spark can leave you well baked and with a crisp look in your eyes

  10. Butane is a cheap and easy way to extract, but dirty and without the proper equipment good luck getting all the butane out - despite the low boiling point. Vac chamber and preferably a heating pad is required to purge the butane properly. One can try with hot water baths and such, although based on my experience this still leaves a tainted product. Easiest route I feel would be a rosin press, it's solvent-less and easy to use. Just the initial cost is high and yields may not be at the same level as BHO - depending on what BHO extraction equipment one has. You can also turn trim into rosin, just need to turn it into bubble hash before pressing it. I personally feel if one is wiling to work out a bit of money to make extracts, rosin is the better way to go. Actually much cheaper than a full, proper BHO extraction and purging setup.

  11. Awesome idea in the spirit of the season. I would definately be interested in some of those beans if there are enough to go round. Personally that strain has been on my growing bucket list for a while. Doing coconut oil extracts for some retired individuals at our local 'Golden Oldies' who indicated that they prefered 'more natural meds' for their ailments. They were buying off the street in the past to try and make their own. (Alcohol extract with vodka) Up to now we were only able to help them with sativa/THC dominant extracts. a CBD dominant extract will be very beneficial.

  12. Yeah, I can already tell you: decent LED lights are as good or better than HPS. @Ill_Evan hit it on the head- there’s much more to bud density than just light. Sure, light is important, and good LEDs do the job just fine. Good genetics, good watering practices, correct nutrient strength, ph, temps, humidity, airflow and on and on. You can have the best light in the world, but get one or two of these other things badly wrong, and you’re nowhere.

  13. This is very very generous of you wow, well done man, we need more people like you in the world I am certainly interested in growing some of this if its still possible. We made some medicinal oil with another cbd plant we grew and it has helped many people. I actually told someone less than an hour ago I will try and find some of this for his girlfriend who is struggling with anxiety and I will pass some seeds off to him also.

  14. Definitely interested. Got chronic knee pain and the wife isn’t too happy getting goefed all the time, plus my 1:1 cream and cheese is not doing to well after the blumat dried up. Paying R500 for cbd oil also getting expensive Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. Hey bro, thanks for sharing, I for one would be interested in the anxiolytic properties without the high.

  16. Well I know that both@CreX and@Ill_Evan use to run HID and have since moved over to Quantum Boards with the Samsung LM301B diodes. Perhaps they can shed some light on how their grow has been affected and whether they've noticed any difference in terms of bud density. I feel bud density is more strain related. Also@Budwizer will be able to give some feedback once he has harvested his plants - will be nice as he has both in the same tent so just needs to compare same strains on the left to the ones on the right. But even if bud density was better with HID, how much better and does it justify the extra heat and additional power consumption over led? Especially considering we're growing for ourselves, while some of us may aim for cream of the crop bud, boutique bud which would sell for a mini fortune in a retail store its not the end of the world if what we end up with is slightly off from what we were hoping for - is it? I'd much rather worry about the strains and seeds I'm buying, as I feel that'll make a far bigger difference. Pheno hunt for the right phenos amongst those strains. 17. I have no experience with indoor growing or lights but have buddies growing indoor and what they have found is that bud density is far better with HPS.. I'll start up soon and will require allot of guidance from the forum. I am a outdoor man but with pollen flying all over I will do my personal variety in the tent from now on and only have my extract plants outside. Any other forum members that found HPS better for bud density?

  18. I’m also using those from lightitup. Doing an informal comparison between 600w HPS and 480w QBs. Ill know in 2 weeks time, but it’s looking good for the QBs
    1 point
  19. Well, once again it depends on how many plants you plan on growing. I feel the 240W QB is a waste for 1 autoflower. The autoflower wont ever get big enough to fill that 1 x 1 tent of yours. In terms of which QB is a good one to go for, well, really up to you. A lot of them are quite similar but there are differences for sure. Common differences would be the actual QB board itself, there are quite a few Quantum Boards out there which do not use the typical QB288 board, quite a few are starting to use less than 288 diodes on their boards - so less maximum output and less power handling. These quantum boards also come with more of an aluminium plate as opposed to a proper heatsink with fins and they are generally plain aluminium silver, not anodized. While these Quantum Boards will work, I personally would prefer to go for the more traditional quantum board with the qb288 boards as you are getting more diodes from the searching I have done, pricing is about the same give or take a couple hundred. A lot of the Quantum Boards which come with the QB288 boards also seem to have a better heatsink, they have fins on them (once again, not all heatsinks are the same, some have longer or larger fins than others) and the heatsinks are often anodized, which is more of a look thing. I feel it looks neater and cleaner. Then other considerations would be the accessories which come with the Quantum Board, I have noticed not all of them come with the same accessories. I have only seen one seller actually provide a power meter with their light, also not all of them offer a dimmer etc. The Quantum board you linked to comes with a power meter and they're the only seller I have seen who actually provide a power meter with their lights. However depending on how you run your lights, it may not even be needed really. If you plan on dimming your lights, then it will make a massive difference as you can actually tell how much power you are dimming the lights to. Then depending on how competent you are with DIY, some of the Quantum Boards come assembled, some require you to connect cables and some may require you to fully assemble it yourself. While this is not difficult, it is something to consider as not everyone will be comfortable to assemble it themselves or would prefer the convenience of having it fully assembled. In terms of warranty, not something I would be too worried about. Majority of the Quantum Boards come with Meanwell LED drivers which should have a 5 year warranty on them and most provide a warranty on the LED board itself, but the likelihood of anything going wrong is slim. Not impossible, but not a common occurrence.

  20. I've had similar thoughts but it all boils down to interpretation, because if you live alone that alloiwance gets shredded in half allowing you only 4 plants/600g, they go on to define the max as being 8 plants/1.2kg for 2 adults, so using the argument of having 4 adults in the single household therefore merits the max being doubled won't stick because the max has been defined BUT there is more than enough ambiguity in the definition of a "household" to spin doctor the shit out of it in our favour (especially in this new day n age of subletting/house sharing) But there's many flaws, 8 plant limit would certainly make growing autos somewhat pointless - also what happens if you plant 8 trees in the ground and they take off growing 3m+? You could easily have 3kg growing on the branches & cop can say your 1 plant exceeds limits therefore we confiscating the other 7 even though you well within your plant limit. so yeah...alot of things would need to be clearly defined to avoid bullshit, needless to say we will overcome anything thrown at us, the fight has only begun brothers
