Hi @stinky. I am also in Durbs and growing in a 120 x 50 cupboard. I am always broke as fuck so couldn't get a tent, much less an aircon or dehumidifier. Would really love a dehumidifier though. I have lost most of a harvest to bud rot before, almost got me off growing. What I do now is pick resilient strains and make sure I keep my canopy nice open and breezy. I mainline my plants and have a small clicks fan to circulate air and a bathroom extractor to vent. I dont monitor Temps but humidity is usually around 50-60 with lights on but can shoot up to 80 when the lights go out. Outside: Inside:8 points

Welcome! I agree with @SkunkPharm in the sense that genetics are extremely important. US genetics over the european ones for sure as far as I am concerned. Also you do kinda get what you pay for - R70 seed vs R300 seed is like: VS The first one is also not actually a R70 seed, I believe it costs a bit more. The 2nd one is actually around R400 to R500 per seed. Plants are the same age and in the same tent, under the same lights, getting the same nutes etc. etc.5 points

Genetics is probably the most important factor to consider when it comes to growing. Dutch genetics use to be the go to genetics back in the day. But with the relaxation of laws in the they have over taken the europeans in that respect. SA is over run by white lable ducth/Spanish seeds which is normally cheap. If you are looking for something special you have to pay for genetics and do pheno hunts. If you are just looking to grow buy clones. These guys have already identified the best pheno types and you are guaranteed to grow some dank. @Totemic is going to launch his new fem seeds in January and I'm sure he will be looking for testers to do diaries on here. There will be some nice crosses.5 points

I went through every mental exercise on how I may strictly fall within the law with my cannabis hobby and quite frankly the laws (which btw are not "laws" yet) are not well defined or even considerate to the culture of cannabis which has been around for centuries. So, with all due respect, if these laws are enacted as they stand, I will break them4 points

Hi Everyone, im Stefan whose a organic grower enthusiast. I started my first grow in Aug with 3 OG Kush from Dynafem and one high CBD strain (both autos) and went reasonably okay, could have done a bit better to get more dense buds but first times are there for learning. One thing ive noticed is that there are so many seed banks in SA but can hardly find reviews regarding quality of seeds and products and hoping a community such as this can assist me with future purchases. Has anyone tried seeds from CBSeeds , they seem to have nice strains for a very competitive price (R70 per seed), where as most banks are roughly R150 + per seed. I'm interested in getting seeds from them and just wanted to know whether anyone has tried them or have heard about them and whether they would be recommended. ive recorded my first grow and as well as my current and should people wish to see/compare/evaluate my methods im happy to share. Thanks3 points

It does look really good, however I cannot take credit for that. Not my plant, not my grown... Give me a few weeks and I should be producing similar plants though2 points

The Nirvana Bubblelicious Auto is a very nice smoke. They clock it with 13-18%... I reached 15.. right in the middle Is also not a very difficult strain to grow and works indoor and outdoor rather well and is very stable, each plant is about the same taste. They are not really on time.. only bad thing I can say about that strain. Very smooth and light passion fruit flavor smoke. @Stefan if you run into 42FastBuds seeds.. give them a try. They impress me with every growth i do.. speed and taste is just great.2 points

There is your mold issue. Check to install more ventilation for your off hours. Your mold forms during your lights are out and humidity shoots up. If you let your humidity go over 70%, you will get mold.2 points

I like sacredseeds, not the biggest selection but everything comes in breeders packaging. Also I think today is the last day of their 40% off xmas promo.2 points

Yep this is my current grow. The smaller plant is an auto iv been growing outdoors. I put her in today coz the weather is cloudy. The max height from light to floor is 1.2m, so mainlining also helps keep the plant low and spread out. A top strain I really enjoyed was LSD by Barneys Farm, I still have 2 seeds left that I am keen to grow again. Has a high resistance to pretty much everything and is easy to grow. Currently have Banana Daddy and Zour Apples from Ethos growing. I must be honest and admit I chose these just because I really wanted to grow some Ethos strains. They just look so yummy. Not exactly practicing what I preach lol1 point

When I buy seeds, it's from Marijuana Seeds for easy to grow and reliable genetics, and Biltong and Budz for high end/niche genetics.1 point

Thanks, been thinking about doing that today. Plant seems happy but still would prefer to have the option of raising the light higher. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk1 point

@Slartibarfast you do not have to use that metal wire thingy. You could wrap the rope ratchet around the rope and then connect one end to the one side of the heatsink and the other end to the other side of the heatsink. Otherwise use 2 of those metal wire things to connect between 2 sides of the heatsink and then just connect the rope ratchets to that... if that makes sense? That will help give you some extra headroom and give you more stability with hanging the light.1 point

all thats left to do is maybe turn the bulk into concentrates...or up your smoke game and smoke more hahaha1 point

Small grows of 1sqm or less, it's a bit difficult as I feel it becomes harder to justify the cost of the additional equipment and running costs. Also in such a small tent, the space is important. You do not want to place a portable AC or dehumidifier inside as that will take away from your precious space. So best would be to then run them in the same room as the tent, however this becomes less efficient as you are then cooling and dehumidifying the entire room as opposed to just the small tent. When one runs such equipment inside the tent, you do not have the fans running all the time. You have them on a timer so that the cool air does not just get blown out the tent.1 point

I’d do 150 for a day or two, see how it goes, then bump it up to 180. 35-40 cm should be cool.1 point

Increased the power a bit now. Tent is around 1.8M and the plant is flowering, about 7 weeks in now and it's an Auto Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk1 point

For sure! I am eager to understand how users are combining fans/AC etc to maintain proper environment when the temps and RH are at these kinda numbers. What light/ventilation combos and other strategies being in small grow spaces.....1 point

Quantum board received :D I went with the 240W. What power should I be using it at? Currently have it set to 95W and it looks pretty damn bright. Also, what height would you recommend I have it above the canopy? With the mounts provided the highest I can get it is 35CM above the canopy. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk1 point
