Soo as some of you may have seen, I have decided to try out some autos again. I grew some back in 2019, decided to try them out again and some better genetics this time around (hopefully). This is what I will be growing, so far just one of each. I soaked them on Saturday I think, then they went into paper towel and last night they all had tails so I quickly finished buffering and getting the coco prepared and into 20L fabric pots they go! I was contemplating starting in 23cm pots, then moving to 20L pots but decided against it as I do not want to disturb them with a transplant as they are auto flowers. I put some myco and trich powder into the coco when putting the seeds down, this morning there was a little more growth and I am hoping for some leaves by the end of tomorrow. Here they are in their pots last night. I am thinking I will pop another 2 seeds in a week or two and increase it to 6 autos, might even go for autos. See how space is. I am also contemplating whether I just let them becomes christmas trees and do no training on these autos or whether I do some LST - what do you guys think? LST or no training?5 points

So I did some defoliation and moved some plants over to the flower tent last night, I should really take some pics before. The plants look bad as they have just been tied (LST) down again, will take another pic tonight as they would have bounced back by then. Then this is what the veg tent looks like currently. Also did some defoliation and LST on the plants in veg. Waiting for more box fans for the flower tent before I can move more plants into the flower tent and a few need a bit more growth before I put them in flower (small plants at the back, with the lowered light). Not too much interesting happening here, not yet at least.5 points

I almost forgot, I split the Ethos seeds with @CreX and @Ill_Evan So we may get some updates from them on their autos as well, depending on when they plan on growing them out.3 points

So most "reacted to" content is a draw between @Totemic (7x Likes, 2x Agree) and @Bakstein420 (8x Likes, 1x Agree) as of 6pm today. Didn't account for a draw TBH so just working something out Also just chatting to @420SA regarding the poll, just need some help >.< and then will properly announce prizes and ask the guys for their delivery deets via PM3 points

Firstly I hope this is the right place@Totemic. So I have been entrusted to be part of the Pheno hunt and I am feeling privileged, excited and nervous all at the same time. Thanks for the trust@Totemic. 30 seeds popped into to glass 22/1 @ 16H30. 23/1 @ 18H30 27 out of the 30 showed their tails. 24/1 @ 08H00 seeds put into 3l pots including the 3 hopefully late comers. 25/1 @ 16H00 11 had broken the surface. 26/1 @ 08H00 27 from the 30 broke surface. Under 4 days from opening the seed pack. Then there are 15 more in water been planted tomorrow. Sorry guys, no pics till the end of month. Used up my allocated uploads. The numbers are in. I have weighed all the dried bud after a few days in the jars and I have the following numbers to show: Zkittlez x Purple Punch - Ripper Seeds x1 - 59g Criminal+ - Ripper Seeds x3 - 159g Royal Gorilla - Royal Queen Seeds x1 - 66g Aurora Indica - Nirvana Seeds x4 - 324g Jock Horror - Nirvana Seeds x2 - 175g Grand Daddy Purple - Green Smoke Room Seeds x1 - 86g Grand total: 869g My total electricity and setup expense (soil, nutrients etc) for the 4 months of growing is a total of R7931. That makes my cost per gram roughly R9.13 per gram This includes my separate veg tent with it's own fans and 120W LED. Gram per meter is roughly 301g/m² I ran the 3 x LEDs each at a maximum of 180W by the end of flowering which is a total of 540W. Gram per wattage is therefore roughly 1.6g/W The tupperware box below is 100g of popcorn buds and some dry trim that I have not added to the above total. We used that to make super strong oil After a good cure I will post some bud pics and a smoke report2 points

Then HPS is your boy. The science says HPS has the best spectrum for flower to this day. I am 100% behind that statement and still own an entire air-cooled in-line HID setup sitting in the closet. However I completely replaced them with LEDs (Quantum Boards). I replaced 2 x 400W HIDs with 3 x 240W QB LEDs. My electricity cost every month was hovering just shy of R2k with the HIDs, with the LEDs I am now paying less than R1k. In terms of quality of flower I can't fairly comment between the two setups. My grows currently are certainly much better than when I had the HID setup however my access to way better genetics from using HID as well as my skill as a grower have increased since. I am honing in on my particular setup and I am pretty sure I can get some ultra primo stuff in due time, not to say the latest harvest didn't bring bountiful plenty goodness. The heat was an absolute nightmare with HPS and I had to time my grow in the year to be closer to Winter just because of that. Just make sure to keep the heat in mind during flowering.2 points

Got my seeds sitting in the dome since yesterday should be able to get a concurrent grow going. I'll be doing my 3 x Pluto Cut plants outside.2 points

Very far from harvest ^^ but as you flower.. you can't go to brutal or your taste will suffer a lot... going direction compost heap. First I would do a radical defoil... every leaf with a trace of PM has to go. Then.. you can spray a bit... recommendations from the guys before work.. I add Bicarb of Soda as a spray, 2g per liter. Soak as good as you can, spray every 3 days till you see a result. I honestly would throw the towel and restart.. PM in your buds is the last you want to smoke. You still can bud wash, but that also depends how good you get rid of the PM now till harvest. If you have over 68% humidity.. you will run into PM issues. Not sure where in CT you sit, I am Blouberg side and humidity was sweet till now. If you would have Serenade.. one proper spray and should be fine. Just keep the plants in a environment with humidity under 60%! You will lose if you can't handle the humidity... Flowering plants should be kept at 45-55% anyhow.. or taste and potency will suffer.2 points

I am happy with the growth on most of the plants. They seem to be recovering well and new growth is explosive! This weekend I want to try and move some over to flower, not all are quite ready for flower so not all of them will go into flower. A quick picture I snapped last night, starting to look more like plants I typically have in my tent2 points

Hey Guys, I have a couple of autoflowers showing a white powdery substance on many of the fan leaves (might be on flowers too). I am growing them outdoors (started them indoors for their first 4 weeks). Now, I have had mould issues indoors before, but have had plenty plants outdoors never showing mould, so I am not sure what to do. Can someone pls identify this ? (attached 4 pictures of the 2 plants) I was planning on harvesting these plants soon (one within a week) - can they be saved somehow? Thanks in advance! PS: BTW, I am in Cape Town, not sure about the strain of these 2 autoflowers and I am growing them using hydroponic nutrients.1 point

Yip you read that right. Have been thinking of trying the woolies fabric bags as grow bags, was actually contemplating making up fabric bags as we still have like 4k of the material lying around - we first started off by selling them like two years ago. Think they cost around R5 a bag and no one is going to beat that, just want to find out if anyone has tried them as a fabric grow bag?1 point

That is a nice variety.. Well done there bud.. That is a goal to work towards.. I love variety but could never really manage it.. Well done..1 point

Here we go, take a look at these products: https://www.jamiesgardenshop.co.za/shop/biosulfur-250ml-r85/ https://www.jamiesgardenshop.co.za/shop/aq-sf-ampelomyces-quisqualis-liquid-250ml-r100/ https://www.jamiesgardenshop.co.za/shop/bio-build-1kg-r60/ Milk and water also works well actually and is easy to get, but does smell a little and leaves a residue on your plants and tent.1 point

Awe bru, PM has been a problem in Cape Town hey. I had it, I'm in the south. My mate had it who lives in the northern suburbs. TBH, all the mates who grow had it this year and last. This is both indoors and outdoors. I sprayed my ladies with milk, H202, and some recipe i found online. Eventually ended up tossing all my plants and resetting. Goodluck man!1 point

...another one that is always delivering (grew 5 of them during the last years) is Brooklyn Sunrise auto from Dutch passion. This one is also busy curing, but I tested it already. The trepene profile first needs to come back, but the high is more Sativa leaning. As yhe name suggests, perfect for wake and bake. It starts with a strong but not overwhelming euphoria that leaves you quite functional. I have to do stuff when I smoked it. Once the high wears off it doesn't leave me being tired, which is important for me when it comes to choosing a day time smoke. I can recommend this one too.1 point

i would spray the plant with a 5050 mix of water and fresh milk... do this weekly for a month and you will see a drastic reduction in the PM h202 will not work well ...it is not able to kill the spores at the low dose you need... you need a 3% solution spray and it will stop the PM from spreading, until the spores grab hold again... the way the plant is fox tailing... im not sure it will even yeild anything smokable... what pot do you have it in and what meduim are you using and what nutes and stuff? i would get some more plants on the grow if you dont plan on tossing this one...1 point

LST to get a even canape... rest I would let them do what they are in the mood to do1 point

The way I understand it, PM is a fungus and can travel through the air via spores. Plants in your garden or just even outdoors, sometimes even partially underground, can suffer from PM which then passes on to your outdoor cannabis plants.1 point
-
It needs to be considered that some strains are just more susceptable to mildew. Sometimes all it takes is a few days with high RH and boom.... While you follow your plan of action or treatment, you could cut a few 'clean' clones(just in case), it would be faster than starting from seed again.1 point

We've been growing outdoors in the woolies bags for a couple of years now. At approx 20-25lt they are a good size too and much more durable than other 'carrier' options. But they remain a budget alternative and are not UV resistant. They become weak and tear easily after about 2 years in the sun outdoors. So they are not what you'd call robust, if you are going to move your plants around a lot I would rather suggest proper material bags.1 point

I have seen them being used as grow pots / bags before and it worked well enough. I prefer spending a bit more and having a higher quality fabric pot but if you are on a budget, it works for sure.1 point

That is Powdery Mildew and it is a decent amount too. Your plant is far away from being ready to harvest though, so you have time to try and treat it if you really want to. Perhaps try some sulphur as that is a fungicide, it does leave a residue but can be washed off. Copper soap is an option too, however I'd prefer not to use that during flower. For preventative measures, aq sf is a good option - can also be used for an infection like you have, its spores for a fungus which feeds on the PM I believe. Worth a try as well, however I think start with Sulphur and then once its better consider moving over to aq sf to control and keep at bay until harvest and then bud wash for sure.1 point

@HappyGrower my friend that is the "we don't speak it's name" issue that most growers get when facing excessive humidity and lack of airflow. Almost all growers have had a run in with White Powdery Mold. Its exceptionally difficult to control once it's on the plant (especially if the plant is in flower) preventative measures is the best medicine. Some of the folks on the forum would recommend a bud wash after the harvest. So you don't necessarily have to loose your harvest. It looks like your plants are still quite a long way away from harvest time and that infestation looks rather on the bad side... I would cut my losses and start fresh. Good luck man, I am sure some forum members might be able to guide you better. Happy growing1 point

Yeah thnx bud.. I am still verry nervous for some reason.. Awaiting the test subjects to place in the tent. None have shown sex yet and the next CA CBDs I've only put in a tot glass today.. I will update that thread as soon as I get going.. Might just finish up the two Autos in the tent from tomorrow morning.. I am still very un decided.. I also have some test seeds from @Totemic I want to start but that will have to wait until I finish up the net house. Below a picture of the spot currently.. Need to start but the cash flow at this stage is hampering the progress.. I am not in a hurry though.. want to do it slow and propper.. The whole area will become a nethouse. This will house a aquaponics setup some Hydro and my normal outdoor grow. Vegetables and companion plants will take up a large part of the area. It's about a 4m x 6m in total..1 point

I'm going to do mine outside so would be interesting to see the difference.1 point

So got me some Ethos autos, being split with @Ill_Evan (Pluto Cut) and @CreX (OG Kush). Keen to see how they turn out, I will most likely create a grow diary once they are going for those who want to monitor and see the progress etc. @Ill_Evan I guess you could post updates of your plants in my thread if you wanted to. haha1 point

Nice set-up there! I really like the idea of the box fans. I should add that to cool the light down a bit and circulate better.1 point

At the moment it's 100w per 240w QB, so a total of 300w in the veg tent. I can likely bump it up a bit, but growth is good. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

So here are some pics of my setup: You can see some of my DIY Quantum Boards in the front, the box fans suspended from the top of the tent, carbon filter and extraction fan to the side. Cable ties to secure everything to the poles inside the tent and lots of rope ratchets. Here is a Light It Up light at the back, another box fan. The oscillating fan to the left will probably come out sometime, or when it dies. I also have my power supplies / LED drivers outside on the top of my tent (on top of a box) to help keep the heatinside the tent down and my multiplug and power is outside the tent. I also make use of the Power Meters so I can see how much watts I am dimming my Quantum Boards to. I did not take a pic of this as I need to use a ladder to get a proper pic and stuff was in the way. Here you can see the damage thrips can do to the leaves of a plant: You can see the twist ties and clips I use for LST on the plants. I want to try reduce the LST, however since these were already quite large plants when I got them I need to make use of LST to try get the plants to where I want them. Here you can see how small the plant is when I start with LST. Just bend it and leave it for a while and continue to adjust as it grows to ensure you end up with a plant trained the way you like it and want it. Pic of some of the plants chilling inside the tent. I just did the LST before taking these pics so plants look a bit messy still though.1 point
