Lovely. I'm going to be hunting my F2s in a few months. If you want seeds to join the hunt it's done. The 33 line I'm running with has Sunset sherbert crossed in, but then I selected from my choco NL F3s onto those. Loving what the F1s did, and loving the influence carry as im seeing on my current run of Tortoni. The slurricane pheno is heavy stretchy punch genes. Tortoni #2 is a pheno like this. You can see the punch genes stuck in the corner. While, #1,3,4 are choc gelato dominant filling the other 75% These are at day 11 now. PS. Sorry for the thread hijack5 points

2x2.... and you use a bath room fan? if a guy in a grow shop recommended you that setup, go there and show him a birdy. I have a 'few' more 6 inch inliners in my 2.4x2.4 and they never stop. Also run my big one max 3/4 area, no space to access otherwise. To know if you have enough air exchange, do a simple test. When your lights go off and your humitity goes down with the temperature, and not up, you have enough air exchange... otherwise.. add more vent capacity. A 2x2 will turn your room into a turbine testing facility... sounds at least like it That is just the exit side on my big tent Short addon to the turbine factory. That is no joke, if you live in the same area, as your tent(s). A silent inliner might be way better choice... and always go one in, one out. If you want to fill your 2x2, 2 x 150mm in and 2 x 150mm out.. a td-500 is around 3000 rand. I started to change my cheap noisy ones with silent versions. They are a bit more bulky But they are waaaaaaaay more silent.. what you pay you get less noise for4 points

Hi folks. So 6 and a half weeks in and the buds are starting to shape real nicely. The size of the buds are really impressive and I am hoping some so extra weight over the next couple of weeks. Chocolate Haze Upper Cut Purple Queen Special Clone Nice view3 points

That weakens your plants... and chances increase. But if you fluctuate below 65%, PM shouldnt become a problem... potency might suffer, with to high temps in any case. Any high swings should get avoided. Germination you work with the highest humidity but also most sterile environment. (Why we always say... dont use your hands, use clean tweezers to handle seeds.) Veg is were you pick it up, as veg likes 75%. I try to hover during light at 65% at veg. Higher and dehumidifier kicks in. Depending where you grow, you might not bother to much about PM at all. When you fear PM issues, spray preventive, then go 12/12 and set system to start the dehumidifier at 55%.. just spores, no issue. You have still grown fungi on your plants... will survive, so you might very likely run into PM issue during flower. Check your plants regular. Like seeds are triggered by humidity, PM spores are triggered to bloom when the humidity is right and the ground supports them. Some strains have a natural resistance... not immune! .. but that helps, if you grow in humid areas. Give a PM resistant strain a try.3 points

I'd spray the milk and water mixture as often as needed until you see it decrease, then continue with a weekly or bi-weekly spray. I have struggled to get it off however a bud wash helps but you may need to really get in there as milk can dry hard and needs a soak to soften up and come lose. Due to the residue it leaves and the fact that I struggle to get it off if left to harden and dry, I try and avoid using it. As mentioned, your plant has some serious PM going on - however it's fine to use to experiment with and see how the milk and water works for you. Fresh, unpasteurized milk is ideal but not easy to find. Fresh full cream milk is 2nd best followed by long life full cream milk, but just go buy some fresh milk if you have to. aq SF can be used to treat an outbreak, but it does take time to work and is therefore not ideal. Sulphur I believe works well, never used it myself but have had friends use it and seen the results and success they have had with it. So using Sulphur to get rid of majority of the PM and then using other sprays to keep it in check until harvest is an option - but you need to be careful in your case due to how severe the outbreak is. Another thing to keep in mind, PM spreads spores which you cannot see with the naked eye. So best to try and clean out your entire grow and grow area before starting a new grow and/or carry out regular sprays with things which will help prevent the PM. Once you have PM, it can be difficult to get rid of and if there are other plants nearby the chances of them ending up with PM are very high so you need to treat ALL your plants.3 points

I was on skunk 30 years ago did 12 hours drives to get to Amsterdam, get a hotel room, go to the 'speak easy' coffeeshop and get hammered back at the hotel. No buy restrictions at the time. Sunday lunch drive back... good old times hehehe Love diesel... i thank the american dude, who turned skunk into diesel,... daily... ok, not daily but every time i smoke a proper diesel nirvana has some good genetics... i am a fan of their bubblelicious. just was rather disappointed with the skunk widow mix.... rather tasteless.. potent yes. see, yes, we had some good weed 30 years ago... but would i want to swap back in time? Nooooo way! I enjoy testing the new material... Gelato left a mile deep dent in my book3 points

The numbers are in. I have weighed all the dried bud after a few days in the jars and I have the following numbers to show: Zkittlez x Purple Punch - Ripper Seeds x1 - 59g Criminal+ - Ripper Seeds x3 - 159g Royal Gorilla - Royal Queen Seeds x1 - 66g Aurora Indica - Nirvana Seeds x4 - 324g Jock Horror - Nirvana Seeds x2 - 175g Grand Daddy Purple - Green Smoke Room Seeds x1 - 86g Grand total: 869g My total electricity and setup expense (soil, nutrients etc) for the 4 months of growing is a total of R7931. That makes my cost per gram roughly R9.13 per gram This includes my separate veg tent with it's own fans and 120W LED. Gram per meter is roughly 301g/m² I ran the 3 x LEDs each at a maximum of 180W by the end of flowering which is a total of 540W. Gram per wattage is therefore roughly 1.6g/W The tupperware box below is 100g of popcorn buds and some dry trim that I have not added to the above total. We used that to make super strong oil After a good cure I will post some bud pics and a smoke report3 points

those are some sexy inliners . My heart skipped a beat when i saw the price. But thanks for the link, i like options Yes, i agree 100%, for 2 feet by 2 feet, two bathroom fans would do2 points

Is that 2m x 2m of 2ft x 2ft? Big difference, since we are in SA I feel we should be using meters. I have a feeling its feet, so 60cm x 60cm which is a very small tent? @Prom if you need more fans, for a little more it may be worth considering the AC Infinity fans, they're really awesome and very quiet as well! Comes with a very nice controller with a RH and temp probe: https://zephyrfarms.co.za/product/ac-infinity-cloudline-t6/ I have two and love mine! Use them for exhaust.2 points

I've smoked some proper Super Skunk back in the day that was very good. I know lots of guys still reminisce about the old Super Skunk. MSS - Massachusetts Super Skunk was a power strain that was used in the creation of Sour Diesel. Just remember, there is Super Skunk and then there is Super Skunk. The same can be said of many strains. White Widow, OG Kush, Chemdog/dawg. Breeders make claims. Those claims aren't always accurate. Sometimes they lose parent stock. Sometimes they simply lie about the origins of a cross. Especially if that cross contains an elite clone only like Chem 91. I've grown a few Nirvana strains, and have had fire from them. I've never grown or smoked Wonder Woman though. Their White Rhino was mind blowing. This was a good couple of years back now, so I have no idea what their gear is like now. Shot for your post bud. Keep them coming...2 points

Yes, but coolj had the PM issue inoors it seems. My take on it is to start over as suggested by others. Taking clones might make sense if it's aphotoperiod plants, but it's an auto, right? There are a few different factors that come into play when it comes to PM, in my opinion. Some strains are more resistant to PM than others. Also if a plant is healthy and strong or weak plays a big role. PM has a tough time getting hold on a plant that is happy and healthy. I only grow outdoors. In my garden PM showed up this whole season but my plants haven't caught anything yet. Preventative measures are key outdoors. And as Prom stated, it's more difficult to prevent PM outdoors than indoors. I did the following outdoors and it worked well so far (fingers crossed). PM doesn't like direct sunlight and good airflow. Keep that in mind, when you choose your grow spot. PM shows up on the lower parts of the plant, at least that's what it did when I had it. The sunlight and airflow is restricted in the lower parts of the plant. Defoliation of the lower part helps. Do not take off too much, but enough to allow good airflow. I use AQ-sf as a preventative measure, as suggested by psyclown already. It's a fungy native to SA, which eats up PM. But it's used to prevent PM. And that's the keyword when it comes to pm: prevention. Again, I would start over. The PM on your plants is in a very advanced state. As soon it's on the actual flower and no longer just visible on your leafes it's too late IMO. You could use the plant to experiment with milk mixtures and so on to learn, maybe. But do yourself a favour and don't smoke it. This is just my take on it, but I hope it helps.2 points

@Totemic I select the most terpene heavy and most potency heavy mother. You are very welcome to pick a clone up, once done with the selection My gelato seem to be more sativa sided. Parents are Orange Sherbet and GSC (thin mint cookie version) Outdoor happy too... so the genetics like the CT weather Going over 2 meter now. Indoor you need a carbon filter... they really really smell2 points

@OrganicGrower_ZA so you get 300m³/h of air transfer with that fan. For your tent you want to do at least one transfer of air a minute which is the recommended amount. So you need a fan that can transfer the 8m³ of air in your 2x2x2 tent once every minute. So if your fan does 300m³/h then it does 5m³/min, which means it actually under performs for your tent specifically although I'd say it's good enough if just for simple air transfer.2 points

Greetings all! I'm a not-so-new user here from 2019 who realised too late the importance of documenting the grow, especially when trying new techniques. This mainly stems from having had to hide my usage and passion! I now have all the means to share whatever knowledge and experience I can, the support of my family, and a fresher attitude to contribute towards growing the community together. Anyway here follows my journey with many more firsts: If you recognise me please respect my online anonymity as I no longer work for or with the people this system belonged to - here for passion not fame. Last year I was tasked with maintaining one formerly-branded GHE AeroFlo 28 growing system, run under a 700W full spectrum LED. If anyone's as unfamiliar as I was with active systems - it's a 4 tray 28 pot hydroponics system with a concept introducing "aeroponics" into the equation, with a 80L reservoir I think. Fed with only what was available - Cannabiz LiquiCompost... What a challenge! After many pH fluctuations and MANY other issues faced, it was decided the system be shelved and the once 20+ Black D.O.G regular plants (which slowly but surely sexed as males and removed throughout) were to be removed. I had no heart to dispose of all of them, and made space for 3 of the most promising that were topped at least once, and showing no signs of sexing. And so began a passive technique I've been wanting to try... In a smaller milk crate (>30L), a cut open basmati rice material bag held together my mix of coco, used soil, a crushed compost pellet mixture with other dry ammendment. All thrown in over a carefully looped and layered set of nylon ropes, which led to pH balanced water into three 2L soda bottles. I had no idea if this would work, but see the results for yourself. Plants appeared to show no signs of dehydration or further deficiencies, and looked like they took a liking to my stressing at home if anything. I changed the water in the 2L bottles after a week and noted the rate at which the levels were dropping. All in a converted reptile terranium under a gifted 100W LED. I saw these plants through until my crate was covered with a canopy of my liking, until after the 12/12 flip when all 3 turned out as males. If I ran a breeding programme then kudos! But it was a fun challenge while it lasted and I learned new things. Definitely going to tweak and introduce the technique again.1 point

With the constant rain recently, I had a PM problem so everything was just cut down and disinfected. I installed a proper extraction fan last weekend and moved some autos inside to test the performance with the current rain this week, so far the humidity has been much more stable, just need to worry about load shedding I guess. Northern Berry Gold by GSR looking good. Glueberry OG, loved the smell on the last one so I hope this also delivers. This Dosidos came out really short, looks pretty though. In the veg tent, I have three Lost Coast Lemons by Humboldt Seed Company I got as freebies. I also soaked three Sakura by Bodhi, one WiFi #43 x Do-si-dos fem by Motherland Genetics, and one Alien OG auto at the start of the week. So far a Sakura and the WiFi have sprouted.1 point

There are a few reputable breeders using legit chem genetics, but at the forefront for me is Skunk VA (Lucky Dog). It doesn't get more legit than him. He is the reason chem is called Chem 91 Skunk Va. He has held on to that cut of chem for 30 years now. He even gifted chem back to the user chemdog. The guy who found those 13 magic beans. I love all the history and mystique behind the chemdog cut.1 point

Have you ever imported clones to SA? I would need a football field of space to grow all i would like to.. not sure the cops would play along I have 'chem' on my list actually. 30 years! God damn bro... you've been around the block! There is definitely fire to be found in the new stuff doing the rounds these days. When I started growing, proper OG and Chems were the holy grail and very hard to come by. Especially here in South Africa. The contacts I built up over the years through forums like ICMAG heavily influenced my tastes. The newer stuff looks great, and packs a punch, but I find the flavours to be a little one dimensional. Maybe I'm just biased. Either way, I want Golden Goose to reflect what I find interesting and would grow in my own garden. BTW, if you're looking for some proper chem stuff.... check out Skunk VA's Lucky Dog Seed Co. I have a nice pheno of their Double Krush. Damn, that shit is pure Chem goodness. Hi John, I have a Woolworths bag and a Pick n Pay R25 bag. The Pick n Pay bag is better. They have good volume and they work just fine in my experience. I also have the proper fabric bags. The shopping bags are more porous but it doesn't bother me.1 point

Yip you read that right. Have been thinking of trying the woolies fabric bags as grow bags, was actually contemplating making up fabric bags as we still have like 4k of the material lying around - we first started off by selling them like two years ago. Think they cost around R5 a bag and no one is going to beat that, just want to find out if anyone has tried them as a fabric grow bag?1 point

Nirvana calls their super skunk and ww cross Wonder Woman.. tried that version... mhhhh wouldnt grow it again. Skunk isnt the most tasty weed. Digging out skunk, is a bit the try of the dutchies to get back on the train, they missed a few years ago. The haze has my attention... i love haze. when i have space, i come knock1 point

The spores will not become active if humidity is to low. Indoor you can control it. So even your plants are covered in spores, will not break out, as long as humidity is not high enough. Outdoor you have no real influence on it, indoor you have the control. Should make sense of CoolJ's experience.1 point
-
It’s possible that fan isn’t powerful enough, especially for South African conditions. I think you have heat / humidity build up because the fan can’t suck fast enough. You should try an in-line 100mm ducting fan. I’ve read you can get them from electrical supply places like AC/DC if you looking for a good price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Then HPS is your boy. The science says HPS has the best spectrum for flower to this day. I am 100% behind that statement and still own an entire air-cooled in-line HID setup sitting in the closet. However I completely replaced them with LEDs (Quantum Boards). I replaced 2 x 400W HIDs with 3 x 240W QB LEDs. My electricity cost every month was hovering just shy of R2k with the HIDs, with the LEDs I am now paying less than R1k. In terms of quality of flower I can't fairly comment between the two setups. My grows currently are certainly much better than when I had the HID setup however my access to way better genetics from using HID as well as my skill as a grower have increased since. I am honing in on my particular setup and I am pretty sure I can get some ultra primo stuff in due time, not to say the latest harvest didn't bring bountiful plenty goodness. The heat was an absolute nightmare with HPS and I had to time my grow in the year to be closer to Winter just because of that. Just make sure to keep the heat in mind during flowering.1 point

We've been growing outdoors in the woolies bags for a couple of years now. At approx 20-25lt they are a good size too and much more durable than other 'carrier' options. But they remain a budget alternative and are not UV resistant. They become weak and tear easily after about 2 years in the sun outdoors. So they are not what you'd call robust, if you are going to move your plants around a lot I would rather suggest proper material bags.1 point
-
I have seen them being used as grow pots / bags before and it worked well enough. I prefer spending a bit more and having a higher quality fabric pot but if you are on a budget, it works for sure.1 point

Spray with a light solution of MKP. It's a mild fungicide. I use about half a teaspoon to a 1.5l if I see any PM during veg or flowering. You will have to rinse off at harvest time. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk1 point

@Cannabist very good idea to keep the budget in check. Those bags will do the job for air pruning and drainage. If I am not mistaken I think @Onion is doing a grow with those fabric bags at the moment so he might be able to give a good indication of its efficacy.1 point
