Day 13/14 Im very happy with their development the last week. 3 of the 4 are Choc Gelato dominant, and the last is Slurricane dominant, and I've experienced between 15 and 30cm stretch. Their next feed in the morning I'll be switching over to a flowering nute schedule. I'm running with the Biobizz range, and been using their Grow and Bloom, but adding Top Max as well this round.6 points

So I finally finished setting up the flower tent properly last night as my fans arrived and I had cable ties (I use a looot of cable ties in my tents, seriously useful things they are!). Took some pics as a quick update. This is what my flower tent currently looks like, still got space to move over a few more plants once they are ready The top of my flower tent, as you can see its 4x 240W QB's and 2x 30cm box fans and lots of rope ratchets and cable ties. lol Veg tent, with the autos and cuttings. The baby plants at the back of the veg tent, still a few weeks before they will be going into flower.4 points

Thanks for the welcome @Bos @PsyCLown @Stinger96 As requested, some pics! Auto Elixir CBD by Canuk Seeds; Auto White Widow (I think by MSA?); "Auto" Super Lemon Haze by Canuk Seeds, that turned out to be a photoperiod lady. Imagine my surprise when it just kept growing. The seeds went into Jiffy pucks 03/10/20 and I harvested 11 January. Grown outdoors, CPT North, using Freedom Farms and some Umya nutrients with pH-balanced tapwater that I left out in the sun to get rid of some chlorine. This was around week 8: Week 10-11 (From left to right, top to bottom: Elixir CBD; White Widow; Super Lemon Haze; WW.) Shortly before harvest: Result:3 points

I have always trained every cannabis plant I have ever grown. I have never just let a plant grow like an xmas tree. Took some pics last night, got leaves on all the seedlings now.3 points

My vote goes for LST also. I think you can get a lot more out that way. Attached is my Critical Auto from Victory Seeds I just harvested 250gs wet on the scale, so will see when dry. Been struggling with this kak humidity, so I ended up wet trimming a lot of her (after these pics)...not my usual MO. Good luck with the grow, will be interesting to watch. I do like the idea of comparing xmas tree to LST on the same strain, but I guess it can be strain specific as to what each likes.3 points

What's up everyone Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. It's been a minute, but I'm just gonna get right to it... So this beast has been around for a while now, and I've had one with me for the past few months. I'm talking about the MODUGrow 90W LED Grow Light. .... The unit I have is fitted with 192 x Samsung LM301H diodes as well as 16 x LH351H 730nm Far Red diodes for that extra boost in flower, all covered by an acrylic panel to keep the diodes safe, shining in at a warm 3500K spectrum. Its daisy chain feature allows you to cover your canopy in larger tents easily by simply adding another unit. It's also got an IP62 rating, meaning that it's dust tight and is protected again sprays of water up to 15° from the vertical, so no need to stress too much about accidentally spraying your light a bit. Keep in mind that the dimensions of this fixture (without the power or daisy chain cable plugged in) is; (LxWxH) 630,00mm x 119,70mm x 117,62mm With this in mind, it's worth mentioning that this light will only narrowly fit diagonally (in order to accommodate the power cable) in a 60cm or 70cm wide tent although this isn't optimal as the corners that aren't illuminated well will have severely low PAR (comparatively) due to the distance from the center and PAR rolloff. Speaking of PAR, this 90w unit packs a punch! Here are the PAR maps from the data sheet; It's safe to say that this light would be suitable for veg or flower, just adjusting the distance of the light from your canopy in either phase will have you set on your way to providing your plants with the light they need - lifespan of the unit varies, you'll understand when I get to the prices. .... Enough about the features, what about the performance? Well, for the 2 trees I had in the custom grow box (I built it to take advantage of the lights dimensions and PAR map), they seemed to love every second under it. The light itself has good penetration and I feel you could get away with putting this light in a bigger grow box due to its intense output - the internal dimensions of my custom box is only 75cm wide, 40cm deep and about 135cm in height (I had some issues or I would've went slightly bigger also). In veg, leaf growth was lush and green, stems grew sturdy, and overall growth rate was quite surprisingly quick vs distance from the light when I compared it to my blurple and cob fixtures. The plants love it, and the seem to be fine sitting relatively close to it - no leaves have been trying to hide from the light since the day I started using it. I guess I haven't seen the need to drop the unit any closer to the plants so it's all good and it successfully avoids any light/heat stress. While we're talking about heat, it was interesting to find out that this unit runs warm to the touch, even after being on for 16+ hours. I expected the unit to be a bit warmer, but I could comfortably hold it indefinitely even while it was on (don't do this though, you run the risk of electrical shock if there is a problem with your ground wiring at home or you have a defective unit). If you added a small fan blowing over the massive heat sink, the temperature of the heat sink itself will drop to somewhere around 30°C - keeping the light relatively cool, contributing less heat to your environment. As for flowering, this light hasn't disappointed me yet! This is my first flower cycle using it, and the Purple Queen by RQS is surely loving it. Internodes are tight, and bud development looks thick so far. I'm only in about week 5 of flower, so I have some time left to judge, although I'm expecting great things. Here's a short clip of what she looks like at the moment; https://www.instagram.com/p/CKjfZfIAVE4/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link The other tree I had in the box unfortunately fell victim to a spider-mite infestation and didn't make it. I managed to save the Queen, but now there's just a bunch of empty space here, which leads me to this; My honest opinion is that, with this light in the right space, you'll experience the easiest 1g/watt you're ever going to achieve. .... So, how much does it cost? Not gonna beat around the bush here, there a few variants of the unit. Driver lifespan: 50k or 100k hours Unit: LM301H only or with LH351H Far Red Combo Power: 90w or 120w Depending on which you choose, the prices range from; R2135 for the LM301H only, 90w, 50k hour unit To R2785 for the LM301H + Far Red, 120w, 100k hour unit. Along with all that, the seller keeps a full range of spares on hand, offers a 1 day repair service, and offers a service to refurbish the light at the end of its lifespan for a fraction of the cost of a new one! Not gonna lie, it seems like this light has the greatest value for money that's available in SA right now... Oh, and its proudly made in South Africa. Hit me up if you want to know more or are interested in getting one already. .... Anyway, I've still got a few weeks to go for this flower phase so let's see where we end up and what the total harvest is going to be like off this small tree I got going. For my next run in the box, I plan on having 2 slightly smaller trees (gonna pop 2 wedding cake seeds) under this unit in the same box to better use the space. I'll train them for 4 to 8 mains each and throw the box into flower then. I'll link you guys to the grow journal once it starts, but for now, watch this space for updates on the flower performance of this unit on the Purple Queen. Thanks for the read guys. Happy Growing.2 points

I understood the technique to still be a passive-hydro style, but would introduce an airstone in a much bigger water reservoir to accomodate two plants each. I was initially given 23 regular seeds to begin with, and still somewhere down the line - due to my lack of experience or simply genetics - every single one "male'd" out in the end. A great disappointment indeed but again the learning experience was worth it. It is my goal to introduce this technique to my tent after completing my first HPS run, and still go the route of nylon rope but into fabric pots this time. The idea was to assist me with the lack of time I really want to dedicate to my grow, and dedicate the few minutes I can to other duties and maintenance. Depending on the reservoir size, I'm thinking four plants in 15L fabric pots, my same DIY "hybrid" soil/coco and perlite mix with ammendment running under the HPS again if I get the current run done right and on track. All in a 120x120x200 tent. Going to keep harping on about vegging under HPS in Durban but let's hope for the best!1 point

Greetings all! I'm a not-so-new user here from 2019 who realised too late the importance of documenting the grow, especially when trying new techniques. This mainly stems from having had to hide my usage and passion! I now have all the means to share whatever knowledge and experience I can, the support of my family, and a fresher attitude to contribute towards growing the community together. Anyway here follows my journey with many more firsts: If you recognise me please respect my online anonymity as I no longer work for or with the people this system belonged to - here for passion not fame. Last year I was tasked with maintaining one formerly-branded GHE AeroFlo 28 growing system, run under a 700W full spectrum LED. If anyone's as unfamiliar as I was with active systems - it's a 4 tray 28 pot hydroponics system with a concept introducing "aeroponics" into the equation, with a 80L reservoir I think. Fed with only what was available - Cannabiz LiquiCompost... What a challenge! After many pH fluctuations and MANY other issues faced, it was decided the system be shelved and the once 20+ Black D.O.G regular plants (which slowly but surely sexed as males and removed throughout) were to be removed. I had no heart to dispose of all of them, and made space for 3 of the most promising that were topped at least once, and showing no signs of sexing. And so began a passive technique I've been wanting to try... In a smaller milk crate (>30L), a cut open basmati rice material bag held together my mix of coco, used soil, a crushed compost pellet mixture with other dry ammendment. All thrown in over a carefully looped and layered set of nylon ropes, which led to pH balanced water into three 2L soda bottles. I had no idea if this would work, but see the results for yourself. Plants appeared to show no signs of dehydration or further deficiencies, and looked like they took a liking to my stressing at home if anything. I changed the water in the 2L bottles after a week and noted the rate at which the levels were dropping. All in a converted reptile terranium under a gifted 100W LED. I saw these plants through until my crate was covered with a canopy of my liking, until after the 12/12 flip when all 3 turned out as males. If I ran a breeding programme then kudos! But it was a fun challenge while it lasted and I learned new things. Definitely going to tweak and introduce the technique again.1 point

Hey all. I spotted the beginning of spider mites on my outdoors. Clipped the affected leaves and everytime I water I give the whole plant a light spray when watering. As backup I crushed 2 garlic cloves, 2 chillies, half an onion and let it sit in 3l of water for 3 days then sieve. Usually use (spray the leaves and stem) this for mealybugs on our palm trees. Was gonna try it on the plants but Murphy's Law, the light spraying seems to have worked for me as plants are tip top now. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk1 point

That is quite a peculiar size for such a low powered LED light. Especially if you compare it to your typical QB288 which is quite a bit shorter, but wider. The QB288 form factor makes a lot more sense in a smaller tent as far as I am concerned. Your Qb288 has more diodes, higher output and is a more slimline light. Your typical QB288 has 33% more diodes compared to that Modugrow light - 192 LM301B diodes vs 288 LM301B diodes, therefore difference of 96 diodes is 33% of 288.... or 50% more of 192. Quite a significant difference as far as I am concerned. Now the output of the Modugrow is 90W, so the diodes are running at around 0.46w each vs 0.41w each on a QB288 being run at 120W. We know that these Samsung diodes are more efficient when run at lower power and you get to the point where there are diminishing returns in terms of giving them more power vs the heat output and the PPFD. Not to mention the rate at which the diodes will degrade. I know MiGro did a test early last year where he took a look at how much the diodes degraded over a 12 month period and on average it was around 5% and based on that he suggested that one replace their lights after 4 years maximum. If the diode degradation is consistent, that is 20% less output (PAR) after 4 years for the same power input. While the diodes themselves may last for 50k hours (around 7 to 8 years), you certainly do not want to be using your light for such a long time due to the degradation. I am in no way trying to knock the modugrow light, the plain light for R2k sounds like good value for money indeed, however in terms of price per diode it is sort of comparable to spending R2.8k on a QB288 (33% less diodes, so in theory should be 33% more for the additional diodes). I am just trying to provide a different perspective and help people compare apples with apples, we are fortunate in the sense that we have multiple choices in terms of quality LED grow lights locally. I have never tried one of those Modugrow lights, but they would be relatively similar to my QBs I imagine considering they use the same diodes although form factor and light intensity would differ a bit. I tried LED strips previously and I personally much prefer my Quantum Board form factor, easier to work with and the intensity I felt was better (more diodes in a smaller area). Tent size plays a big role too obviously, as mentioned that form factor does not work so well in smaller tents. For interest sake, are you able to dim the light and what driver does it come with?1 point

Thanks for the write up man, very informative and helpful. I have been running these lights for quite some time now. He use to also sell the spares when he first got into the scene and I picked myself up 2 of the DIY boards and he threw in the heatsinks for free. I see now he no longer sells the DIY kit or drivers separately so I have purchased one of the 90w lights, I really don't have any complaints wrt these fixtures, they are well priced and pack a punch. The only issue I have is that they are a bit too wide to fit into a small tent properly, as you mentioned, but will be perfect for something like a 1,2m wide tent. I want to run 2 of these in a Mars Hydro 1.2m x 0.6m x 1.8m1 point

The numbers are in. I have weighed all the dried bud after a few days in the jars and I have the following numbers to show: Zkittlez x Purple Punch - Ripper Seeds x1 - 59g Criminal+ - Ripper Seeds x3 - 159g Royal Gorilla - Royal Queen Seeds x1 - 66g Aurora Indica - Nirvana Seeds x4 - 324g Jock Horror - Nirvana Seeds x2 - 175g Grand Daddy Purple - Green Smoke Room Seeds x1 - 86g Grand total: 869g My total electricity and setup expense (soil, nutrients etc) for the 4 months of growing is a total of R7931. That makes my cost per gram roughly R9.13 per gram This includes my separate veg tent with it's own fans and 120W LED. Gram per meter is roughly 301g/m² I ran the 3 x LEDs each at a maximum of 180W by the end of flowering which is a total of 540W. Gram per wattage is therefore roughly 1.6g/W The tupperware box below is 100g of popcorn buds and some dry trim that I have not added to the above total. We used that to make super strong oil After a good cure I will post some bud pics and a smoke report1 point

Morning folks. So at the start of week 6 of flower I can already start seeing the buds fattening up real nicely. Tricome development is also on the increase. The smell is also quite distinct and leaves me with a smile.. It is clear for the flowering progress that I will most probably do a staggered harvest. Purple Queen has a recommended flowering time of 56 days/8 weeks but I will keep an eye and probably take her to 9 weeks. And my special clone might go up to 11 weeks. Upper Cut seems to be setting the pace with Tricome, smell and bud development. Oni hit it out of the park with this strain. I am quite excited to wrap up this grow and savour all the different flavours (and truth be told I am itching for my next grow) Wedding Gelato Old School Purple Queen Special Clone Chocolate Haze Upper Cut Glookies Clones Top View Tent Front View Tent Side View1 point
