As another week passes, the first 3 bubbleberry plants have been axed from the hunt. Mutated, and stretchy unwanted sativa. Bubbleberry The THC Bomb is pushing out what seems to be a random pheno set. 3/4 Strawberry Fields up. Right off the mark, pretty stretchy seedlings, and the same height as the bombs, and Bubbleberry. Going to have to pot up soon. Just holding back a bit to get my timing right.6 points

Hi folks. Not really update time yet but when I checked up on the tent I was immensely surprised with the tricome on one of the Upper Cut clones in the tent. Frosty and still a couple of weeks to go Upper Cut momma5 points

Got into it when I was about 9 years old. Was skateboarding, mates older sister told us about smoking grass. So we took it literally and rolled up some old lawn clippings in some paper and tried smoking it around the corner. Tasted like dog shit. So that was my first false start. Ended up at a new years beach party when I was 14, on the north coast around a fire, joint comes round and that was the first real smoke. Loved it and was hooked for a couple years. Smoked and dealt throughout my teenage years, got into lots of shit, almost expelled, almost arrested , beaten, cops never caught me, and they tried many times. Went overseas and realised there was so much more to cannabis, introduced to some up and coming breeders, a saffie imported some hash in his shoe, bought some products from bodyshops new hemp range during the mid 90's, hit Amsterdam, bought the Howard Marks book as it was just released, Mr Nice book at Heathrow airport after it being recommended by a friend. Oh and the other big thing was I worked in Switzerland as a gardener in 1997, we had a huge greenhouse up in the mountains, a couple sativa's grown, and on my weekends off I used to go into the same village mentioned in Mr Nice and could openly buy weed from one groovy shop, so it really opened my eyes to what cannabis was. However in those years, DAGGA was hugely frowned upon, it was not like it was today, the stigma has changed so much. Proud to be a stoner.4 points

Hi guys, me again. On day 33 with these Blue Amnesia XXL from Dynafem. A week ago I figured I have been running my pH too high for Freedom Farms F1 craft soil, at 6,5. I have been advised to run it almost like Coco at 5.8 to 6.0. So I experienced some minor lockout issues which can be seen on some of the older fan leaves in the bottom picture. I sorted out the Soil by flushing each pot with 3 to 4 litres of PH5.8 water, the runoff came out at 6.5. I’m using Floro Series (3 part) and these plants have been on the Coco “Flower” nutrient ratio for three days now. I am running the strength at 60% of the recommended strength since I understand Auto’s don’t need the full dosage. So the nute mix is pH5.9 EC 1.1 This leaf, I think, might be showing signs of either a Calcium or a magnesium deficiency. By this I refer to the green veins and pale green leaf between the veins. It might also indicate that the overall strength of the nute mix might be too low. For example instead of running 2,4ml per litre of “Bloom”, I’m running 1,44ml per litre (60%) Any input would be welcomed, maybe I’m just being paranoid since I ran into some lockout issues on my first grow. The plant in the bottom- right of this picture is far behind the others, they are all the same Amnesia XXL Auto’s. I think she’s the runt of the litter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

The man that made this board passed away a couple days ago. He was a hemp pioneer, surfer, grower, father, brother and friend. RIP Chipper. Just to say something. I was driving down the coast a couple weeks back, meaning to call him, pop past and say high. In these dark days, just do what you feel, dont miss an opportunity to say high to an old mate.2 points

Hey all, So I thought it would be cool to state how / why we started smoking weed and then why we started growing it. I guess I will start... I started smoking it, well, I was curious as to what it was like I guess and had a few friends who use to smoke. I have never smoked cigs, first time I tried was with a friend and it was what I would not classify as cheap shit. Full of seeds and frost was not a thing back then. It was a joint, fuck me it was harsh. My lungs felt as if they were on fire (I think I had the last few pulls from the joint too), I literally only had one or two very very small pulls. Felt quite euphoric and had a bit of a body high which was pleasant. Back then I typically only smoked if I wanted to try sleep or if I was with friends and wanted to chill. How I started growing, well, I thought I could perhaps grow better weed than I was buying and I had been wanting to grow for a while but the risk put me off for a long time to be honest. Eventually I was like fuck it! I also really wanted to know exactly what I was smoking and see how much of a difference there is between the effects of different strains as well as taste and smell. I also wanted to see how CBD is and whether it really is as magical as some claim it is - so I started growing some strains higher in CBD and then strain which is mostly CBD and less than 1% THC etc. etc. So what about you guys? @420SA come on, share your story with us!1 point

I must admit, I am kinda put off with the old school strains which have become popular due to the fact that even if you do not smoke weed you probably know some of the names and heard them somewhere ... due to the popularity of these names, soo may breeders have "these strains". However I feel a lot of them do not have the original cuts in their mix, its not the proper strains which they are selling. You see what they look like once grown out and I think to myself "No thanks, I will pass on that... Doesn't look too great". I feel a lot of these cheaper EU breeders have kinda put me off some of these old school strains by doing this. @Golden-Goose taking a look at your site, it certainly seems as if these old school genetics are certainly a step above what a lot of the EU breeders claim to be the same strain. At the same time, lots of the US breeders are literally chucking pollen. Ethos and In House Genetics are two popular ones which come to mind. I see IHG have just released a "Pancakes" mix of strains. Various strains which are mixed with their Pancakes strain which is London Pound Cake 75 X Kush Mints 11 There are like 14 "new" strains as they've just crossed some older strains with Pancakes.1 point

Does weed give you the munchies? I think it is a very big possibility it could increase ones appetite. Whether that is caused by THC, CBD or something else I am not 100% sure though.1 point

This is about a decade before Nguni. Thats where nguni is, history. I work with some breeders I trust now, hand out genetics to guys I know who will work with them and have the street cred, passion, patience. If you realised the shit I received, idle death threats, hate from guys even on this board who never even bought from nguni, I realised it was not worth it, especially since it was still illegal. Too much stress, although nguni seeds are still being grown today. Was recently going to send 420 seeds to a group I support, but was told literally to mind my own business by one of their dark horses. Was told i was an uneducated drug addict and ironically an article was published 4 days after his unwarranted trolling, and I was quoted in saying "legalise all drugs". . History is still being made, I am about to start consulting for someone interesting, he revolutionized the cocaine industry, not Rick Ross, Freeway Rick Ross. He has two new cannabis brands that I am keen to help.1 point

Yeah, this form factor could work well in a cupboard or make do grow area. 88% efficiency isn't bad but is lower than the Meanwell drivers. For what you're paying for the light, not the end of the world. At that price point you don't expect top of the range anyways. DIY often works out cheaper, but buying is much easier and quicker. At this price point, DIYay not be worth while for such a light. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

Have you guys ever seen a dagga surf board. I see alot of people on here or for growing only But there is a world cannabis out there and WE need to support all cannabis businesses. Hemp companies in SA are getting alot of crap from the powers that be and its very difficult for them to sustain their businesses. I was fortunate enough to cross paths with an amazing hemp pioneer who was using hemp to make surfboards and deepsea *flippers*. He made a hemp board for my dad, old ballie surfer from Durbs. It was custom made on the South Coast by South Coast Customs. One of the most amazing things I have ever laid my eyes on. The leaves were from NguniSeeds strain tribal vision and super imposed on the board. I dont think the business is still running and he has moved onto bigger things. But was just reminded to me on FB about this board in memories, so thought I would share. The board is a short board, 6.4in. Its lighter, stronger and faster. An amazing gift from an amazing person. Surfs up, but you cant smoke it.1 point

Update and pic time. For those who don't know this grow was moved to the shade house from indoors. The grow in the cabinet is still 100% South African, a little project pheno hunting GTH#1 x OKC for @Totemic. I'm not sure how to link the thread so some help here please moderators, @CreX, anyone. Thanks in advance. Pic #1. African Buddha 800mm. Pic #2. Master Lester. Pic #3. Glamberry x Lemon Jedi OG. Must say that the plants are enjoying the shade house.1 point

That is quite a peculiar size for such a low powered LED light. Especially if you compare it to your typical QB288 which is quite a bit shorter, but wider. The QB288 form factor makes a lot more sense in a smaller tent as far as I am concerned. Your Qb288 has more diodes, higher output and is a more slimline light. Your typical QB288 has 33% more diodes compared to that Modugrow light - 192 LM301B diodes vs 288 LM301B diodes, therefore difference of 96 diodes is 33% of 288.... or 50% more of 192. Quite a significant difference as far as I am concerned. Now the output of the Modugrow is 90W, so the diodes are running at around 0.46w each vs 0.41w each on a QB288 being run at 120W. We know that these Samsung diodes are more efficient when run at lower power and you get to the point where there are diminishing returns in terms of giving them more power vs the heat output and the PPFD. Not to mention the rate at which the diodes will degrade. I know MiGro did a test early last year where he took a look at how much the diodes degraded over a 12 month period and on average it was around 5% and based on that he suggested that one replace their lights after 4 years maximum. If the diode degradation is consistent, that is 20% less output (PAR) after 4 years for the same power input. While the diodes themselves may last for 50k hours (around 7 to 8 years), you certainly do not want to be using your light for such a long time due to the degradation. I am in no way trying to knock the modugrow light, the plain light for R2k sounds like good value for money indeed, however in terms of price per diode it is sort of comparable to spending R2.8k on a QB288 (33% less diodes, so in theory should be 33% more for the additional diodes). I am just trying to provide a different perspective and help people compare apples with apples, we are fortunate in the sense that we have multiple choices in terms of quality LED grow lights locally. I have never tried one of those Modugrow lights, but they would be relatively similar to my QBs I imagine considering they use the same diodes although form factor and light intensity would differ a bit. I tried LED strips previously and I personally much prefer my Quantum Board form factor, easier to work with and the intensity I felt was better (more diodes in a smaller area). Tent size plays a big role too obviously, as mentioned that form factor does not work so well in smaller tents. For interest sake, are you able to dim the light and what driver does it come with?1 point

I am happy with the growth on most of the plants. They seem to be recovering well and new growth is explosive! This weekend I want to try and move some over to flower, not all are quite ready for flower so not all of them will go into flower. A quick picture I snapped last night, starting to look more like plants I typically have in my tent1 point

A remarkable recovery. Holly comes from a Transkei origin seed. At a month old she was fimmed by a red locust so I surrounded all of my seedlings in tulle and dowel tents until they were big enough to withstand pests. Today, Holly is chest high and showing sex. I have pruned and trained and she is nice and bushy. I am hoping for some good bud from her.1 point

Put a moisture dome over.. as long as the husk stays moist, the plants can bend em open.. when the husk dries out, can decapitate the seedling. Also, if you have to many coming out of the medium with husk.. plant em 0.5cm deeper as a starter. Best is when the medium helps to get them off. Easy way to remove a husk, use 2 medium size fishing hooks. Easy to hold and nice to pull the husk open without hurting the plant.1 point
