  1. So took this pic last night quickly, this is what the flower tent looks like currently - looks a bit overgrown to be honest. lol The original plants are around 4 weeks into flower, bud is starting to form, frost is starting to build up and the tent smells delicious!

  3. So have chatted to gerberthegardener and headhoncho_genetics and we will be stocking them @Bay Seeds we reached out to you two weeks ago via insta, let us know if you'd like to join. We will be redoing the site to have two sections, one for local stock and one for international.

  5. I follow them on insta. I reckon it's a good idea. The local breeders are bringing fire. The upside to local genes is that it's tried and tested in a relevant climate. I've found alot of my imported beans are PM magnets, even though they are rated as mold resistant #supportlocal

  6. Went to a top growshop in Newton Park, Port Elizabeth today, The Gro Bro. Friendly, welcoming smile, clean shop, packed with indoor and outdoor products. The owner Hugo is a gem, keen to answer questions, show you around, talk about the best products for your growing needs. I was introduced to him via Sunshine Coast Genetics, another gem and had a lekker long conversation about growing cannabis, preventative maintenance, nutes etc. Loved the fact that he specializes in organics, his preferred method, however he does stock synthetics too for the commercial dudes. Saw many top brands in the shop, GH, Biobizz, Dirty Hands, Organic Matters, Umya Nutrients, the trim bin bag, some futuristic life time warranty grinders made from medical grade plastic endorsed by Snoop!!! And then my favorite, a top shelf of Fullmelt Filtration Bubble bags. I was sold, I knew this is my new favorite local grow shop. If you in the area, looking for knowledgeable service with a smile, Hugo at the Gro Bro is your man. 10 Frank Street, Newton Park. I will be back for sure.

  7. Normal mail, the idea is to see what customs do with the shipment. Is fully declared and a paper inside, free samples. After the draft... that is legal. Lets see...

  8. Only the best muti is being used! Rhino horn, shark fins and the cherry on the top being ground up umbilical cord from a baby. On a real note, lights, nutrients and environment lead to happy plants, combined with some good genetics and the results speak for themselves. I think I might, will take another look from different angles as well and see what it looks like and what sort of light penetration the leaves are allowing at the moment. Do not want to get rid of all the leaves, but do not want excess leaves. Also not going to lie, mission and a half to get in there and work with the plants now due to their height, the fact they're sticky already and the automatic watering system at the bottom limits me from moving the pots to make space.

  9. about 18 months ago I got a whoooole bunch of seeds from Trophy, all singles shipped in little round tin containers with Trophy lables on and with breeder and strain names written in pen, each seed individually packed in a small plastic container. So no breeder packaging, but I guess cause they where all singles... at first I was pissed about not getting the original packaging, popped the seeds had 100% germ and the strains was definitly what it said on the lables... Had a whole bunch of different breeders aswell. Dutch passion, barneys farm, seeds man and others and I got 2 different Ethos strains. You could clearly see the difference in quality of breeder aswell. Guess I was just lucky.

  10. we should do anything and everything in our power as growers and enthusiasts to support the locals. if by any stretch you find the SA cannabis scene to not be up to standards, it's supporting local that will get us there.

  11. i have a 30 seeds shipment on the run with Jerry, no stealth, fully declared THC seeds, testing what will happen. Just in accordance with the law. Checking what customs do and if they let it pass, Fastbuds will limit max orders to SA to 30 seeds but ship official. Post office just useless... 3 to 4 months those mailing easy take till delivery... not sure that slow service you can call a mail service

  13. I said I write a little guide, so here it comes. How much is to much and how do I check it? If you checked into lights to grow indoor, you will run into some fun diagrams of light foot prints. Those help you to put the lights at the right distance. All good lamps provide you with the hanging distances for each stage Germination, Vegetative and Flower. If you build your own lights, you run into the issue, that you are a bit clueless, how to hang your lamps. Best to get that sorted is a Quantum Flux Meter. It measures the PAR (the light relevant to plants) light arriving at the sensor and hang accordingly. I am in the lucky position, that a friend bought one. Expensive toys You have one.. not telling you anything new.. Aim around 250 mmol for germination, around 500 mmol for Veg and 800-1200 mmol on flower. If you do not have a Quantum Flux meter.. I made some tests with normal Lux meters for your phone.. lets call them mixed results. But... Germination and Veg it seems to work. I have issues reproducing my results on different lamp configurations for the high readings. Varies up to 20%, what is to off to get clear results. Strangely, the low reading were spot on.. we talk 2-4% variation. I used Android tablet and phone, had the same readings .. using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pardel.photometer&hl=en_US&gl=US Put the phone/Tablet horizontal for all readings. 250 mmol should read 20k Lux 500 mmol 40k Lux Everything above that was just going different readings depending on lamp configuration. But as it look rather linear to 500.. you could use that to put your plants at the right light. Yes, the lamps are really that far away during germination ^^ My single QBs and TS3 gave me the 80k Lux at 1000 mmol.. but 2 other lamps gave way weaker readings 60k Lux. And I used 5 different lamps, 3 different diodes. The Germination and Veg results were spot on. Try, let me know if your plants grow bigger now. Now, you want to buy a good lamp.. -> store! You get help to select and a warranty on it, plus the instruction how to use the lamp.. so skip the Quantum Flux Thingy right away. Are those lamps really that good at 30k Rand? Yes, they are that good. Do I need one of those to grow awesome dank? Nope... ^^ Is no rocket science to build a good decent lamp doing the job.. but if you are not in the mood.. buy one from the grow store.. LED!!!! nothing else they wanna sell you. Size of the lamp is given by grow space. Don't go the other way around or you end up with a lamp way to big for your space. Why is that bad? What generates light these days, also generates heat. And as soon as you put a dimmer on.. you are back in the guessing game how far to hang now. Yes, light is way more tricky as fertilizer.. fertilizer come with clear instructions. Lights are more pointing in the right direction. Why LED? For a home grower it is the best choice these days. Very reliable and low heat light source. The times for HID systems are over in the home grower circle. There are still good reasons to go MH/HPS, but not for any new starting person. No Sir, hands off! LED are expensive! Really? I just build myself a 4QB setup for a 1.2mx1.2m tent.. 280$ with shipping. If that is to much.. thank god, you didn't started growing 30 years ago Buy or build.. but stick to LED.. very short section.. nothing to add really. What type of LED lamp? The right selection will make your life way easier. Remember, light produces heat.. and to much heat is not good for your plants. We used a few lamps and come to certain conclusions The no go Zone Those lamps just "gather" the heat below and if you use such a setup in a single tent.. your airflow will suffer one SHITLOAD. I wouldn't go this way.. we have one of those.. and is the worst lamp of all for climate control. Other disadvantage, any uneven canape is very hard to handle. Bar lights Lets bring the disadvantage up, is the same like the lamp before.. if your canape goes very uneven.. will get more work. BUT.. airflow wise, they are awesome. Put the fan over the light and point down to cook up a storm.. cools light and plants and you lose no space to a ground standing fan. If I would have 2-3 sections to grow, the one for the big ones, I would use a bar light and just sort the canape to fit. Those lamps are doing a better light distribution and little resistance to your climate control. Central configuration Still monsters but at least compact and offer not as much airflow resistance like the ones with build in non lighting surface. You lose a lot more light strength to the side and they bring some heat to the center plants. My second last choice. Single QB Build Lets start with the disadvantage, you have to adapt more ratchets.. 4 instead of 2. Advantages are airflow and dynamic handling in regards to canape. The 150mm duct brings the fresh air and the oscillating one is top mounted. The QBs run without any heat sink, 2 per 240watt driver. I used 3mm tread rod to build the hangers. For one grow section, you don't care how the canape grows, you can handle dwarfs and bean stalks. Hope it gave some ideas what to look for and what not to look for. Always remember.. light produces heat and heat needs to get removed. If your lights hinder you, they might be the reason why your plants stay on the smaller side. DIY tips You want to order and build? Read up! You need to read a bit and decide where to go.. and we mean spectrum frequencies ^^ All the LED light producers offer different frequencies for the diodes. For a grow light, my personal suggestion is to go with a 3000k 660nm board or a 3500k 660nm board. I avoid anything having more on it, like UV. The IR you want, that is a sexy wave length for flowering. There are 301B and 301H diodes out. B gets sold as V2 and H as V3.. both work. The difference is the hardening layer on the diode, the rest is the same. H stands for Samsung's Horticulture range, better environmental resistance.. buh hu hehe go for the cheaper one if money is a issue and the expensive if you like to waste it a bit QBs you get around 30-40$.. getting cheaper each year. Driver you can pick up anywhere you find it cheap.. i get mine from digi-key. If you are not in a rush, look for the free world wide express shipping they do from time to time. You build such a lamp system in an hour in very stoned conditions or 30 mins sober Hope it helped somebody.. or I wasted quite a bit of time

  14. It's a pleasure joining you guys! I am fairly new to the scene... My growing adventures started just before legalization, and I have not looked back since. Have recently gained a profound interest in breeding and genetics preservation. Currently growing: Autoflowers: Gelat OG (Seedsman) and Fastberry (Fastbuds) Feminized: Laughing Buddha (Barney's Farm) and Charlotte's Angel (Dutch Passion) Looking forward to learn and grow! ; )

  17. What I find interesting is the comparison and how much extra foliage grew after the defoliation I did around the 15th. So even after 3 weeks into flower, still got some growth on the leaves and plants. A decent amount too I feel.

  19. Mhh they are to big for a 1.2x0.6 tent ^^ even with a power dial.. one in, one out.. you might create your own little tornados in that tent hehehe Noise level.. you can NOT sleep in the same room or you are deaf anyhow If you attach a dimer.. you can regulate it.. mine are just plug in and 100% air movement.

  20. Why not, will be good for a seedbank to stock a lot of the local breeders stock - easy way for growers to find and explore local breeders stuff. If someone wants to do an all local grow, Cannabist can be the one stop seedbank then.

  22. 165x170x70 hmm well dude I was using a 6inch fan like this in a 80x80x180 tent! but I wired it to the lowest setting. I see this fan that @Prom is selling has a similar electric panel, but just confirm that you can indeed wire for different speeds. @CG420za if you can wire the speeds this will be perfect for your tent.

  23. Yeah, definitely start stocking and promoting local genetics! I've got a pack of Head Honcho genetics I still need to plant. Planning to do a "locals only" tent in the near future.

  25. The indoor comes rather nice.. and I like the little work there is to trim and dress at harvest ^^ Meet K ^^ and some of the clones. I run different BioBizz setup and curious if I get more yield on that tray. the white spots are wind damage.. just to explain the not green area so far happy

  26. Always contact the breeder. Just tell them the purchase history and what happened. This was the response I received for 5/10 germination from Dark Horse Genetics. I recently bought 3 packs of ripper seeds from biltongnbudz. The germination rate was 3/3 O.M.G , 1/3 Braincake and 0/1 Chempie. That sucked. I can't blame biltongnbudz for a sealed pack of seeds, not germinating. But I can email ripper seeds explaining where I purchased the seeds and what happened, and politely ask for replacements. 4/7 is not the worst so I probably wont. I can work with 4. The free gorilla girl seed from sweet seeds also didnt sprout. The R40 Napalese is cheapest seed on biltongnbudz and is kicking ripper girls asses. Dairy on this feminized cross coming soon..

  27. Rehab is for quitters. I have given myself a gold medal for my detox, or lack there of. In reviewing the past week it was well worth it. I went down the coast to celebrate the passing of a good old man, I took him to AA a couple times during the 90's, he sadly passed sober as a judge last week at the solid age of 85. Had a solid party with old family friends, loads of homebrew, beer, whiskey and weed. But funny enough I was wondering/pondering if Marijuana Anonymous ( MA ) is still existent. It was right next door to the church where AA meetings were held on weekly nights. Down the road from Rosebank towards Parktown North. My ex business partner founded it, I wonder if its still happening. I went baked once or twice for experience, and the tea and cake. Well back to my own rehabilitation centre tomorrow. Round two of the detox.

  29. I'll say yes man. Support local. This year has hardly started and many local breeders have stepped up and hitting hard. I'd love to see our local market get established to the point where we dont need to be sending our money out of the country at 15x + exchange rate.

  30. Cool, I have the same 75w lights from growopz but I bought mine 2 years ago and the driverS put out some heat so I was thinking of mounting them outside, I think you have the revised version of the 75w I'm sure the drivers are also upgraded. Thanks Bro

  31. Hi folks. Day 63 into flower and buds maturing really nicely. So I thought it best to ditch the "mature by eye" old school method. Since I can still learn much more. And rather use the little microscope I have to help me along the way.. I wil most likely start to harvest some ladies on 65 days and up. Purple Queen Glookies Chocolate Haze Uppercut

  32. Did some defoliation last night in the flower tent, was much needed for light penetration and air flow. A very mess grow indeed, but this is what happens when you start with lanky plants which need to be trained and are quite tall already. The smaller ones in the front are a bit better as those were a bit smaller when I received them. Tent it starting to smell quite nice and I came out with my arms being a bit sticky after trying to get to the back to get rid of excess leaves. I love the smell of cannabis plants in flower.
