Day 56 And then there were three. Pheno 3 has been harvested. She could have gone another week for more amber, but I'm happy with the development after 7.5-8 weeks. While no 4, and 1 are coming down in the next few days. I might just put no 2 outside to finish. #38 points

Here is a little smoke report on the strains I had harvested in this grow. I will go through them in order of personal preference; Criminal + Most certainly the best all-rounder. Dense buds, not too much outer trichomes but the potency was great. Day or night, it could be smoked and enjoyed, but not too much as it would render any tasks for the day as non-existent. Smoke was peppery and the taste was spicy. Not a lot of terpenes in particular, quite a sneaky bud actually. Aurora Indica The weakest of the strains, but this is not to say that it is not potent very fruity aroma and very smooth smoke. This strain is a delight to smoke, light smoke and easy to crush in the grinder. This strain is also the most popular amongst the friend group. Zkittlez x Purple Punch This strain is bag appeal! Most frosty and most fruity of all the strains. The smoke is a tad harsh but after a cure it really balanced out, so make sure to focus on the dry/cure for this one. Grand Daddy Purple Super gassy bud, when the jar opens you know what time it is. Diesel mixed with raspberries are what to be smelt after grinding some of this bud. Average smoke and high potency, this bud is smoked on occasion and has been made into medicinal tincture. Royal Gorilla Airy buds, very odd smell to it too. Used all of this bud for practicing making tinctures/oils. Jock Horror This strain turned out to hermie so most of the buds had seeds in them a turn of events indeed for this one as the buds were looking pretty super. I had zero idea that they were growing seeds. Have mostly just given away this bud for people to do their own experiments on for butters and tinctures.7 points

I blame the media. The media that feeds issues in order for these issues to seem bigger than they actually are. Big issues sell better. Chris, I hope they'll leave you alone eventually. I get the idea that the cannabis community is generally an awesome subculture full of good people. Just as soon as money gets involved things turn south. People get greedy. Edit: I blame the government too.5 points

The numbers are in. I have weighed all the dried bud after a few days in the jars and I have the following numbers to show: Zkittlez x Purple Punch - Ripper Seeds x1 - 59g Criminal+ - Ripper Seeds x3 - 159g Royal Gorilla - Royal Queen Seeds x1 - 66g Aurora Indica - Nirvana Seeds x4 - 324g Jock Horror - Nirvana Seeds x2 - 175g Grand Daddy Purple - Green Smoke Room Seeds x1 - 86g Grand total: 869g My total electricity and setup expense (soil, nutrients etc) for the 4 months of growing is a total of R7931. That makes my cost per gram roughly R9.13 per gram This includes my separate veg tent with it's own fans and 120W LED. Gram per meter is roughly 301g/m² I ran the 3 x LEDs each at a maximum of 180W by the end of flowering which is a total of 540W. Gram per wattage is therefore roughly 1.6g/W The tupperware box below is 100g of popcorn buds and some dry trim that I have not added to the above total. We used that to make super strong oil After a good cure I will post some bud pics and a smoke report4 points

Why are chemicals an issue? Only natural way is rhodelization. Thing is though, well with the genetics I choose to work with, rhodelization is one of my selection criteria. Ie, selecting for females that resist it, and go into reveg mode instead. I don't want to breed with females that throw bananas at the end of their cycle...2 points

It's really not complicated. Isolate your grow from other pollen sources. I do this by breeding indoors and in winter2 points

I dont really give two hoots, I would like a peaceful life though for myself and others. But my advice will hopefully help you guys focus on your goals and dreams, without interference from trouble. Damn, some of the best people I have met in life, best times, and some of the worst, but always fun, good laughs and memories with more to come. Geez man, this kinda goes beyond trolling online. Perhaps it is more jealousy than anything else, mixed with people having issues with themselves. Quite crazy that you have to deal with this shit. Can't comment fully though as I was not there and am not sure of any prior history and such.2 points

I think the OG talk is similar to the talk about where 420 came from, cop code, high tea time etc.. This is an interesting article about naming conventions and something I have been discussing with a couple growers lately. On the other hand, this is exactly how not to handle naming conventions of cannabis. Thandeka has been involved in cannabis since the mid 90s, sadly she never thought of saving our genetics then and I am sure most of the original DP collectors would be happy to share, but please not with Thandeka. I do believe South Africa should have some benefit of the name Durban Poison, but it should go to the people and not government coffers. "From Maui Wowie to Durban Poison to Acapulco Gold to Humboldt OG, cannabis strains often boast their geographic origin in their names. However, there is currently no system of enforcement that keeps any cannabis strain from claiming it comes from a place that it did not, in fact, come from. And if your dealer tells you they have some quality California pot, you have no way of knowing if that is true or if it is merely something grown in their buddy’s garage in Kentucky. But such a system of enforcement is right around the corner. " I really cant stand names of today, Gelato, green crack, GSC, wedding cake, it sounds like an fffnnnn candy store. Think of the older names, naming conventions, they were spot on as they were regionalised already.Colombian Gold, Swazi Rooibaart, DP, Alaskan Thunder Fuck, Afghan Kush, OG Kush...... The oldest trick in the book of our street corner dealers was to sell medicore seeded swazi weed with names like White Widow, OG Kush, northern lights. I dont believe most people when they tell me names of weed, cause I know how hard it is to keep track of your names from seed to harvest if you not careful with labels. Could waffle on for ages, but need to do some work, but had a great talk today with some top growers about this topic, weed names, cannabinoids, and its interesting the work that is being done here locally. Well done Canna SA.2 points

The harvest has been concluded. Apart from the one Criminal + cola that got some mold, another cola from one Jock Horror also started to get some mold, so I decided to start chopping the whole grow. Some plants could have gone another one or two weeks, in particular the Jock Horror and Royal Gorilla, but this is in my opinion specific to just these strains as they do have quite long flowering times as opposed to the others as they are supposedly more sativa dominant. While trimming I did not find any more mold which was a relief. Took me roughly three days to get it all done, it felt like a time warp trimming tree after tree. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I've taken the veg plants from the small veg tent and now placed them in the flower tent, and placed the drying net with the harvest into the small tent to continue drying. I find the smaller tent with the drying net creates the ideal drying environment. The drying process in this stage has in the past lasted up to 10 days which I feel is a nice slow dry. I think I am going to be pretty stacked for a while... So let's just go ahead and start up the next one2 points

By crossing two females. Plants under chemical influence grow viable male flowers, even though the plant is still a female with two X chromosomes, the pollen has only female chromosomes. Controlling airflow and keeping outside pollen out is hard. Its better to make feminized seeds in winter indoors when there are no males outside and the risk of getting pollinated is relatively low.1 point

@Ill_Evan kudos for the honest smoke report man. Will definitely guide a lot of new growers who want to understand what a strain might represent and end up as. Damn nice grow diary to boot and detailed feedback. All of the best for your next grow1 point

Parents are always the first logical people to look at. Maybe they just don't care enough, or stopped caring as much. Comparing the youth of today to the youth of yesterday if you will, is a broad topic. I do not think it is a fair comparison any which way you look at it. The youth are primarily a product of what they are most focused during their upbringing. I'm sure the world is way more fucked up than it was a generation ago.1 point

On a side note I popped your Palomino alongside the Tortoni and some other strains and at the moment the Palomino is looking like a champ. Fastest in the tent.. Showed tap root in three days and already working on the second node of true leaves just after 10 days since I popped it in the peat pellet. Tortoni on the other hand took a full 6 days to show tap. Still 100% germination rate1 point

It's a longer flowering pheno, and maybe has 3 weeks left. It's flowering season outdoors now, and I'd rather reset my tent, than keep it going for just 1 plant.1 point
