  1. Hell yeahhh....but it can become a deep rabbithole real quick if you arent carefull hahaha.... For the most part I meticulously plan my pollenations and sometimes I look at my plants and I get this idea...like this very fruity White Widow female could do with this Mango Kush male pollen and viola.... Then comes the work, hunting for the best ones for the next gen. Still hunting some crosses from last year and allready have 2x more to explore this winter.... Believe its different for every grower, selection criteria wise.....terpenes, potency, growth structure, bud to leaf ratio, pest/mold resistance to name a few. If you do the legwork you will find a good pheno and sometimes, just sometimes you find an epic one....

  2. Hi 420SA members. There was interest in the work that I've been getting at for the last few weeks, so I agreed to do a diary. Any guidance, advise or opinions welcome. Grow Specs Mamoth Classic 100 tent (1m² total floor space, 2m³ total). 1 x 240w quantum board. I don't think this is enough light, I'm considering adding another once I beat SARS in an ongoing cluster fuck from 2018. 2 x Ram Oscillating fans. 2 x HIT150 inline fans. One drawing filtered air from outside, the second exhausts outside to. Substrate - 40% Coir, 40%Perlite, 20% Washed silica(I like the additional weight the silica adds to the bags/pots). 5ltr Letaba plastic grow bags because the dimensions of the bag was quite appealing due to space issues. This will be my last grow using Nutriplex fertiliser program. I have a pest management program in place which consists of yellow sticky traps and a neem application every 10-14 days(not during flower). Beans were germinated at the end of Jan 2021. I selected only 2 mothers roughly 18 days later. Moms at 18 days Moms were topped and grown on for a further 20 days, then cuttings were taken. There is only one really sleg image I'm to embarrassed to share of the moms before they were mutilated. Brand new cuts Total of 12 cuts per plant were taken from each mother. l Rooted cuts 100% strike rate. The cuttings had a 50% dilution of the Nutriplex veg formulation from day 1 and received a fluvic foliar every other day. Looks like it worked. Bagged/potted cuts 4 days after the above image the plants were bagged and put into the tent. They received full strength Nutriplex veg formulation for 1 week, no issues. Which brings us round to 6 April when the below image was snapped. Plants are looking good and new growth can be seen. Thanks for looking, I really hope this grow ends well. CRIT, ADVISE and OPINION is always encouraged. Negative or positive, your feedback is valued... Particularly light and nutrition department.

  3. So genetics have become expensive. I have recently made my first batch of seeds due to a germination issue with one of the batches of seeds I started. Dream Queen from Humboldt Seed Company. I also pollinated a slurricane clone just for fun. Have you guys done this as well? If the phenos was not the best there is out there do you guys think I will find good ones in the seeds I made?

  4. Yes. Yes. Yes. This has been part of my whole mission all along. To get more people interested in giving the plant a gap to evolve! Straight up...the likelyhood of good progeny from previously known/worked genetics is high. It starts becoming less successful when you start trying to use our land races. The thing about breeding, even if only to produce more seeds, is the chance at another generation, and another chance at improvement. Cannabis has evolved to such a point that its no longer just about the highest cannabinoid content. The relaxing of laws has changed breeding into a terpene hunt. The louder the better nowadays. In short, there is space for all kinds of cannabis, to suit all kinds of tastes.

  5. So a quick update, I have had to put the autos into the flower tent so they are on a 12 / 12 light cycle too. OG Kush - I really like this plant so far, the way it grows, the frost is decent (for an auto), the darker coloured bud looks great and makes the trichs pop. Even has a nice fade going. Gelato - it takes it's time, at least this pheno does. Looking much better but I am hoping the buds will swell still and gain a bit of fatness. Pluto cut - the leaves are quite peculiar in terms of their colour and the way they're dieing off. Seems alright but not quite exceptional, one of the larger autos out of this run. LSD 25 - I like the colour. Quite leafy though. The other smaller two auto's I ended up giving away. @Ill_Evan how is your auto looking?

  6. Will post some pics soon of the end product once trimmed, will compare the sugarcane to the frosted apricots to the slurricane. They are all quite similar I feel. Exodus Cheese? Apparently it is Ethos, never knew they made an Exodus cheese. I have tried some which @CreX grew and it's alright. Nothing to write home about for me, the GF quite liked it though. Big buds, lacks the frost I am getting use to though. Potency was average I felt.

  8. I have read so many reviews in the last couple of days regarding this strain but unfortunately its a bit above budget. Hopefully next year but its awesome that you stock such a strain. quality genetics dont come cheap unfortunately. and if youre sitting on quality, you cant let it go for cheap!!! hows the flowers man? should have maybe grown out a male to polinate a female and then you would have had hundreds of headbangers to try out hahaha

  9. I always try and support local and would love to see a quality local rolling paper brand, there was one a year or so ago, I forget the name. Myrtle, one half of the DaggaCouple taught me a lesson, after discussing something once. She said along the lines of support yourself, then your home, then your neighbours, then your community, province, country etc. That lesson stuck in my head and is generally how I try and spend my time/money now. However on the other hand something that finally pissed me off recently is the following. I am a farmer and try my best to support local. I been buying homemade pepper pork pies for 4 years from the same friends, bulk at R25 per pie, plus salami, chops etc. We raise the pigs here and sell them to the butcher to be processed, so its a no brainer to support. Sitting at the pub, a guy asked me about the pies, prices etc, and said he buys bulk pies from a different brand just down the road for R16 per pie. It left a seriously bad taste in my mouth! Its just a lesson before you jump on this journey! Funny enough I am buying a pulled pork roll ( one of our pigs ) tomorrow from the same people. Pig on spit, yum.

  10. Morning folks. So I finished up with my second indoor grow and was quite happy with the results. So now it's time for my 3rd grow running some local genetics along with some international and established strains.. it's @Totemic time I learnt a lot from my last grow and have switched up a couple of things.. Soil - moved from Royal Gorilla to Freedom Farms classic (Very happy with this decision.. FF is a super stable soil with a very nice inherent nutrient balance) Seedlings - germinated in peat pellets as normal but for the seedling stage had them in 10cm pots for rooting with a subsequent transplant to the 20l fabric pots Nutes - I still have Seagro but decided for this grow I will only be running the BioBizz line (with some calmag throughout and molasses for flower) Lighting - for the seedling stage I only had my HLG 100 on and only flipped on the additional 300w grow bar rig 4 weeks into the veg stage. Genetics - so as stated I wanted to give some local heroes a go and half of the tent will be local. Seeds originally planned for the run: Totemic - Palomino (germinated within 3 days and growth is ridiculous - will most propably be the star of the tent) Totemic - Tortoni #1 (I initially thought this seed didn't germinate as it took quite a while for tap to show - 6 to 7 days) Totemic - Tortoni #2 (because I thought I lost the 1st Tortoni ) Inhouse Genetics - Twisted Helix Garden of Green - Girl Scout Cookies TH Seeds - Bubblegum G13 Labs - Raw Diesel (dud seed did not germinate... ) Ripper - Brain Cake (whack mutant plant. Not sure if it's the seed or initial rooting problems but it will be chucked..) Initial growth points towards 3 stand out ladies - Palomino, GSC and Twisted Helix.. the other 3 are stacking very tightly and will probably be bushy little ladies.. Germination was done on the 2nd of March and first topping and training for mainline will commence shortly. I still haven't introduced nutes yet as the leaf colour still looks spot on.. damn good soil that is!! Germination Seedlings Veg growth pre transplant Mutant lady Post transplant GSC Twisted Helix Palomino Tortoni #1 Bubblegum Tortoni #2

  11. The first 1.2m x 1.2m tent has 4 clones of Headbanger #2 under 480w quantum boards. They were just transplanted and moved into this tent today

  12. Looks like fungus gnats, never dealt with them before not sure if that leaf damage is being caused by them

  13. By the end of this year I will have 6 mother plants of 6 different strains I have collected over the years. I don't plan on hoarding any more strains so the obvious next step to me is to start crossing between the strains I have collected a deep rabbit hole to be had indeed.

  16. Ahh ok, nice. Hopefully you get the right pheno amongst those 2 seeds. I'd say pop both seeds. Take cuttings before flowering them, label them. Then see which one is the better pheno and keep it. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

  17. Very nice, just one Twisted Helix seed? Keen to see how it turns out. Have had my eye on Twisted Helix but never got around to purchasing.

  18. As has been mentioned, availability is a big one - especially for a small item such as rolling papers. Low in price and often purchased in smaller quantities. One does not want the inconvenience of having to go out of their way just to get rolling papers, especially a stoner. Also the price difference won't work in your favour, wanting people to move from a popular brand which they are very familiar with (RAW) and now paying more for a different product they do not know much or anything about... Not everyone is going to be keen to do so.

  19. You grow so great material... as soon as you perfect your climate, you should get to the next quality level. Nice job, keep it up!

  21. Hello all, I am a new member and very excited to have the opportunity to expand my knowledge base. My interest is predominantly from a medical and technology perspective. Growing up I was taught that weed was really bad. My wife was diagnosed with cancer and the big investigation began, this is where cannabis entered my life. Six years later, I don't have a wife, but I'm hopefully a little wiser. All I can say is that we have been lied to, cheated by and unfairly been labeled by society, especially by those who don't have our best interests at heart. My business is predominantly supplying a range of equipment to the polymer converting industry. One of the exciting possibilities is the extraction of oils using ultrasound. The positive is that it's very quick very clean and very effective. The negative is that it's expensive. That's me in a nutshell

  22. It's a tight fit, but MAN was it worth the work! Highest temps should be way less harsh.

  23. I would love to see the Sugarcane final product. Really something unreal man. And also curious as to the taste of the smoke. Also excited to hear your Exo experience. Any idea yet who the breeder is?
