  2. You're wasting your time (and possibly money) by trying to use a phone to gauge the output of your grow lights. Unfortunately you gotta fork out money and get a proper quantum sensor if you want accurate readings. If the readings are not accurate or consistent, then it's really a complete waste of time and you might as well eye ball it and guesstimate as that is what you are doing anyways. A phone has a sensor which is used mostly to turn the screen off when you put the phone to your ear and to adjust the brightness of the phones screen, it is not designed to be able to accurately measure grow lights - which are generally far bright than the average house light as well. The sensor being used will vary from phone to phone, some may even have different sensors on the same phone model due to supply issues during manufacturing. You get some cheaper chinese ones if you do not want to fork out for a nice Apogee, however make sure it is sine corrected at least. If you are spending a couple thousand on a Quantum Sensor, might as well spend a bit more and get an Apogee... Keep in mind though that there is a difference between their original sensor and the newer, "full spectrum" sensor and some grow lights will require the full spectrum sensor to provide more accurate results due to the wavelength output of the grow lights (over 700nm). You could get away without the full spectrum one, but just know that the results may not be as accurate but if you want to setup your tent to try get an even output it will likely suffice and save you some money (approx $200).

  8. @PsyCLownI wouldnt have thought a bot, as it's not even clear words ot making sense. But yes definitely, B&B can check the IP and get the details of the person, if there is one. For some reason, this feels malicious to me, and the way they came back again after the comments. Look at the possiblity @ORGANinc. suggested too, the outing of President seeds for their practices, which I dont see as being out of line at all.

  9. I think it is more likely that it is a spam bot creating those "reviews" and not an actual person. Speak to BnB, I am sure they can check the IP and see which country it originated from and if its the same IP or not and do a bit of an investigation and possibly get some spam protection built into the comments / review section.

  13. Do we have a coco section on the forum? Would be nice to have if we dont, theres alot to cover on coco especially for new growers trying it out, would be easier for them to find coco related threads. Just ask if you need further assistance, I've grown in all types of medium and systems (Even Hydro) coco is by far my favorite & and i hope you will enjoy growing in it, It can be confusing and at times seems complex, in reality its quite simple once you have it dial in. Whatever you do in coco the principal to remember when coming across problems is that you are feeding the coco and not the plant, cocos caution exchange capacity is significant because it is a measure of the quantity of nutrients the media is able to hold on to before nutrients start leaching out. Plants are able to access the cations attached to the cation exchange capacity, eg cal-mag deficiency is common due to this, it holds on to calcium and magnesium until those cation exchange capacity is met and than makes it available to the plant. So for that reason i would advise feeding cal-mag in all feedings. Once you have everything dialed in the growth rate will surprise you

  14. What's the bet it's someone with a close relationship to President seed, who probably saw your threads about them selling bulk seeds and now just on the rebuttal Bru , I would relax, take it easy and when you get the chance get B&B to remove the review as no seeds were sold. You obviously wont have a conversation with this cat about a fake review. Anybody who actually grows, would have left a critical review with something to go by.

  17. I'm not sure if that will be a problem for you, but at least you now know to watch for Ca/Mg deficiencies. If it really becomes a problem changing to a buffered mix is pretty easy. But perhaps you'll be lucky and it will work out for you As for the notes above about plain water every other day... That may be because of potential nutrient build up with that particular fert line, in which case it could be best to follow. But it could also just be because many people do it that way, in which case I'd suggest that you should not... Helpful right? As far as I understand it the argument for using the fertiliser every day is that plants absorb water via osmosis and they produce/control the amount of sugars in their roots to keep the correct balance so that water can be absorbed. If you are changing the EC every other day they are spending more time adjusting to that. I'll try find a link with more detail (and a better explanation tomorrow). But some people do alternate and are happy with the results. One of the great things about coco is that you can experiment quite easily, since if mess up you can just flush the coco and move on. E.g. you could use those ferts, and fertigate every day. If they show signs of nutrient burn/lockout then you can flush weekly and then every other day etc until its working for you. Anyway good luck, I'll be interested to see how it goes

  18. Yes. Yes. Yes. This has been part of my whole mission all along. To get more people interested in giving the plant a gap to evolve! Straight up...the likelyhood of good progeny from previously known/worked genetics is high. It starts becoming less successful when you start trying to use our land races. The thing about breeding, even if only to produce more seeds, is the chance at another generation, and another chance at improvement. Cannabis has evolved to such a point that its no longer just about the highest cannabinoid content. The relaxing of laws has changed breeding into a terpene hunt. The louder the better nowadays. In short, there is space for all kinds of cannabis, to suit all kinds of tastes.

  19. Who's keen to take part in our Indoor Growoff this year set to kick off late April/Early May? We're still in the planning phase but here's what we can confirm right now: Seeds @Totemic will very generously be sponsoring his fem genetics to all participants this year. You will get 3 x Tortoni Feminised Seeds How to enter We're going to be having a buy in/entry ticket purchase for every entry this year. The entry fee will be around R265-00 and will cover the following: Your fem seeds - No charge Courier Fee - R115-00 Handling/Packaging Fee - R50-00 Competition purse fee - R100-00 (explained below) A primary reason for an entry fee purchase is for commitment. If you've paid in the entry fee you are more likely to take part in the competition. In the past there were plenty of guys who took advantage of the free beans and did not actually take part in the growoff. We're hoping the buy in will rectify that. The ticket purchase will be handled through the 420SA Store. Competition Purse This year I thought it would be a good idea to have a competition purse which gets split into 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I will be handling the purse and will keep things 100% transparent. We are still in the process of perfecting the growoff format and I feel that if sponsors aren't willing to jump onboard with big prizes we at least have some decent monies to grow for. Let me know your thoughts on the purse format, yay or nay? If you are interested in taking part in this year's Indoor Growoff we'd like to get an idea of how many of you are keen To sign up please follow this link https://www.420sa.co.za/sign-up/2021-indoor-growoff/

Please if you know of any places running any 420 specials, or have a business with specials tomorrow, leave a comment here. 23. The stepchild is progressing awesomely.. This is one of those cases where I will either waste my time or maybe get a gem in the rough.. This seem to be a very strong Sativa plant and hopefully a local land race.. I'm prepared to give it a shot though.. I'll take two more clones and put this little one into flower to see what she does.. My little Whinelands Maungrel..

  28. Quick smoke report on the Cheese @Bos . When jar gets opened there is that familiar sweet earthy vrot sokkies smell, smells very much like Cheese in London, but has some fruity notes. Its less greasy than the Cheese i saw grown in the UK, but has a good high, fast onset, heavy eyes, but not the strongest in my Arsenal. Still a fav tho. The taste on the smoke is very earthy and sweet, some fruity hints on the exhale on this outdoor run. It has that earthy coffeeshop flavour that lingers in your mouth a while after hitting it. That smoke that makes u lick ur lips Awe @CreX , its all good man, im sure i can get a cut or two over there for you and your crew to try out. I keep my moms quite small and fresh, will be a month or two to get u a lekker rooted cutting going. I have been meaning to get more avtive again and get some cuts out to the community, good thing you mention it You guys have so much of the InHouseGenetics gear up there, will be interesting to see if the cheese impresses u okes at all.

  31. I'd like to add if I may, that this review wasnt paid for, nor requested, and was my own personal opinion and view. Any time that I suggest a product or item, its always because I believe in, and or feel there is value and quality to it. No amount of money and or gain, would get me to do a review for anyone, if it doesn't fit the above criteria, and I would always start off with that information too.

  32. All good, and love your process, as it was my way forward too. 1L every 2 days, this is why the plants went yellow and ate themselves, lockout from flooding. Growing in Coco, you are going to have to keep the grow to a science

  33. The reason for your light sensor on your phone, is to blank the screen when you bring the phone to your face, so you dont press buttons with your cheek. I seriously doubt that a cell phone company is going to install actual light quality sensing hardware, vs one with more of simple features, being sufficient and smaller (not as high) You look at the Apogee, check the size of that sensor, big difference. Added, the light sensor on the camera side, is probably way better, but that isn't the one that the App you get will use.

  36. Yes it will be. Totemic is just getting all the seeds together, once I have received the seeds on my end I will email the ticket link to everyone. I will also confirm in this thread once the email has been sent out EDIT: We are looking at an ETA of Monday 26/04 for the link to be sent out.

  37. I've had decent results bud. I may be a newbie grower in the bigger picture but 90% +/- germination and 60% +/- female hit rate. That's pretty good I think. Out of the 4 or 5 of your strains grown the wife really likes the Lemon Jedi OG crosses, particularly the Master Lester. Pic #1 Glamberry x Lemon Jedi OG. Pic#2 Glamberry Keep them coming B. 39. Nice will definitely keep an eye on your results. Im considering doing an autoflower outdoor grow starting May/June. I’m building a little shelter(for summer) at the moment to protect it from harsh conditions so once that’s ready I don’t think I’ll be able to resist testing it out

  40. By the end of this year I will have 6 mother plants of 6 different strains I have collected over the years. I don't plan on hoarding any more strains so the obvious next step to me is to start crossing between the strains I have collected a deep rabbit hole to be had indeed.
    1 point
  41. Hell yeahhh....but it can become a deep rabbithole real quick if you arent carefull hahaha.... For the most part I meticulously plan my pollenations and sometimes I look at my plants and I get this idea...like this very fruity White Widow female could do with this Mango Kush male pollen and viola.... Then comes the work, hunting for the best ones for the next gen. Still hunting some crosses from last year and allready have 2x more to explore this winter.... Believe its different for every grower, selection criteria wise.....terpenes, potency, growth structure, bud to leaf ratio, pest/mold resistance to name a few. If you do the legwork you will find a good pheno and sometimes, just sometimes you find an epic one....
