After all the washes i've done, this method has proven to be the best for extracting water from the buds. I wonder what my neighbours think I'm doing3 points

A fan, can help, but not directly on the plant, oscillating for sure. Anything over 25 will burn smell and taste off, not much, so if you cant, it wont hurt that badly. I've had that too, and it didnt make a difference that much honestly. My mentioned, is for best results only3 points

I started jiu-jitsu in the beginning of the month. Just got back from my 6th lesson and I am wrecked every time. It's my fault though, I am always gunning to roll with the bigger guys. I weigh a good 86kg at the moment and the guys I go and decide to wrestle are coming in at 98kg+. I'll tell you what guys, I've never been so out of breath or physically exhausted in my life, but I can feel the power. Crazy how your perspective of size and strength changes when you start to manage some of the techniques in order to gain control of people bigger than you. Very glad I have started on this journey. Next to growing cannabis this will probably be my next addiction.3 points

There is a bit of a debate around this locally manufactured brand centred around value for money. That thread is on the Futurama post under vendors. Anyway. After seeing the InDorSun facility on YouTube (Marijuana SA Chanel) I had a look at their site and found what I was looking for. A thin form light with Far Red to supplement my two existing Mars SP250’s in my 1,2 x 1,2m tent, bringing the power up to 590w. As an added bonus I have connected this 110w light to my inverter for load shedding, to keep the light cycle going. Here are the specs: I placed my order online and had a question about the courier charge. Next day I was contacted my someone from the company and we got talking about other lights in their stable. This led me to having a conversation with their technical guy who actually spoke me out of a more expensive light once he understood my needs. I really like this, it builds confidence and relationships. After one working day my light arrived. Inside it was well wrapped in bubble wrap. Other lights I’ve bought have had custom made foam for the light body and 9mm plywood pieces to cover the LED’s. The LED’s on the Comet are recessed and behind a plastic cover, but still I think the packaging needs to be tougher in case the couriers are careless. The fixture is lightweight and rigid. The Meanwell driver is inside and out of view, and no heat sink is visible. The unit comes with a 3m power cable and has no dimming available. The manufacturer can fit dimming if necessary. The finish on the fitting was a bit disappointing. The protruding bolts should have cap screws fitted and the touch up paint job / scratches would upset some people... The business end of the fixture is covered by some kind of super clear Perspex. You can see the far-red diodes ringed in red. The hanging arrangement is not the most elegant, however each hanging point can be adjusted precisely because the brackets slide within the Chanel. I felt I had to secure the bracket from accidental bumping, that’s how loose they are in the Chanel. Maybe I’m just paranoid. Lucky me. White duct tape. The far red is switchable. Here is the Comet nestled between the two SP250’s: That’s about it, I’ll see how this arrangement improves yield. Local is lekker. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Hi @Marzcanna I'm interested to hear how you did that. I don't think its derailing this thread too much... but maybe best to start a new thread? After a quick google, it looks like the simplest way is with dry ice in a normal freezer. Did you do that or something else?2 points

Pretty uncreative spam can't even like, copy paste some Barney the Dinosaur rhymes or something. If it is a bot, that's weak protection site wise.2 points

Potato pic update. I cocked up by not anticipating how much they would stretch and few of the girls are showing a little damage which I suspect is due to the proximity to lamp on Thursday and Friday. The ducting will be changed back to how it was originally. I noticed that the plant in the right corner was being sucked to the exhaust vent and tried to see what if there was a way around it. This is not an option, I'd love some input if you have. Plants are looking quite uniform, even though the image doesn't really show it. They are between 35 and 40-ish cm in height. @The_StonedTrooperlooks like they have tripled in size if not more. Side profile showing the lanky little ladies. I will take some time this week to clean out the some of the lower growth to ensure the main cola continues to be dominant. Still think i need to get the drip trays out so they can be packed closer. Thanks for looking, always up for opinions, negative or positive as well as suggestions or guidance. Happy Monday! Apologies in advance for any damage to your eyes while viewing my awful snaps.2 points

Why wash off potency??? Why would it be a better smoke? Washing off dirt? You wash your buds when you have to. Rest you get the smoke you have in the plants genetics. If you are in the mood to wash your weed.. I can't stop you.. I wouldn't do it just for the fun of it hehehe if your weed is so dirty from the wind.. you want to grow on a different spot anyhow2 points

Hi 420SA members. There was interest in the work that I've been getting at for the last few weeks, so I agreed to do a diary. Any guidance, advise or opinions welcome. Grow Specs Mamoth Classic 100 tent (1m² total floor space, 2m³ total). 1 x 240w quantum board. I don't think this is enough light, I'm considering adding another once I beat SARS in an ongoing cluster fuck from 2018. 2 x Ram Oscillating fans. 2 x HIT150 inline fans. One drawing filtered air from outside, the second exhausts outside to. Substrate - 40% Coir, 40%Perlite, 20% Washed silica(I like the additional weight the silica adds to the bags/pots). 5ltr Letaba plastic grow bags because the dimensions of the bag was quite appealing due to space issues. This will be my last grow using Nutriplex fertiliser program. I have a pest management program in place which consists of yellow sticky traps and a neem application every 10-14 days(not during flower). Beans were germinated at the end of Jan 2021. I selected only 2 mothers roughly 18 days later. Moms at 18 days Moms were topped and grown on for a further 20 days, then cuttings were taken. There is only one really sleg image I'm to embarrassed to share of the moms before they were mutilated. Brand new cuts Total of 12 cuts per plant were taken from each mother. l Rooted cuts 100% strike rate. The cuttings had a 50% dilution of the Nutriplex veg formulation from day 1 and received a fluvic foliar every other day. Looks like it worked. Bagged/potted cuts 4 days after the above image the plants were bagged and put into the tent. They received full strength Nutriplex veg formulation for 1 week, no issues. Which brings us round to 6 April when the below image was snapped. Plants are looking good and new growth can be seen. Thanks for looking, I really hope this grow ends well. CRIT, ADVISE and OPINION is always encouraged. Negative or positive, your feedback is valued... Particularly light and nutrition department.1 point

Not a bad build, light looks good, and fits the setup nicely. I suppose if you happy with it, then that’s all that matters1 point

Grape koolaid.....now you talking That sounds delicious, would love a go at that. Just put some Blue Cheese clones out to flower, hope they bring the olfactory approval.1 point

No, not dried ice altho it goes on the same principles. I ll post a thread tonight about how to do it and the science to back it up. Short summary, you need a "frost-less" freezer to be able to do it, you hang dry for a day or 2 than (I now cut and straight into freezer) throw them in a shoe box or plastic container with some bratheable material at the bottom, leave in there for 2 weeks after that, remove it from the freezer and let it stand out for an hour a day for a week, after that jar it and continue curing as normal. There's a thread on the international forums stating the process better , it's there I found out about this, after the 2nd try, What I found was that my buds lost almost no weight and the trepen profile was out of this world. Note: you need a frost-less freezer. Do not try with a normal freezer, save your bud1 point

All the above sounds about right. There's anther method more advanced curing called "Sublimation". I got this right the 2nd time around , the best tasting buds i have tasted and amazing bag appeal. It baiscly takes the same principle of "cyro-freeze" cure but with a frost - less freezer. Dispite the grim idea of it, like I said it's probly the best cure I have ever done, first time was not so good, yet way better than "water - curing". I encourage people to do some research on it, if you have hot temps and bad RH with buds drying up as fast as 2 days than this method will work for you. Once you perfect it, you probly won't hang dry again1 point

Hi, you can do that, the heat isn't the best but as long as there isn't more than 25deg you will be okay mostly. Unfortunately, I havent got a layout of your place or options, so my advice can only be, as dark as possible, and cold as possible, till the small branches break clean, and snap. 18deg, at around 55 RH, for 14 days in the dark, then jar for a cure, perfect.1 point

Since I started the jits I don't think I will go back to muay thai. I thought starting the jits might have even reignited my desire for something like muay thai again but it's actually done the opposite. The lack of getting hit in the head is quite nice!1 point

The stepchild is progressing awesomely.. This is one of those cases where I will either waste my time or maybe get a gem in the rough.. This seem to be a very strong Sativa plant and hopefully a local land race.. I'm prepared to give it a shot though.. I'll take two more clones and put this little one into flower to see what she does.. My little Whinelands Maungrel..1 point

Found this really cool report testing CBD against Covid-19 both in vitro trials as well as a small number of patient trials both of which has showed a reduction in infection and replication rates. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7987002/ found this paragraph very interesting: “Given that CBD preparations containing substantial amounts of CBD are taken by a large number of individuals, we examined whether CBD exposure might correlate to a decreased risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Analysis of over 93,000 patients tested for SARS-CoV-2 at the University of Chicago Medical Center showed that 10.0% tested positive overall, but only 5.7% of the ~400 who had any cannabinoid in their medical record tested positive (Fig. 6). Patients taking CBD versus other cannabinoids had an even lower rate of testing positive (1.2% in 85 CBD patients versus 7.1% in 113 patients taking other cannabinoids, p=0.08). This finding that patients taking other cannabinoids had less protection against viral infection is consistent with our cell culture studies. Since multiple potential confounding factors could explain these findings, including age, race, clinical morbidities, and sex, we matched 82 patients who were prescribed oral, FDA-approved CBD (Epidiolex®) before COVID-19 testing to patients who had no indication of taking any cannabinoids but had comparable other characteristics including similar demographic characteristics, clinical comorbidities, and records of other medications in the two years before COVID-19 testing (table S1). Of the patients prescribed oral CBD before their COVID-19 test, the most common morbidity categories were hypertension and conditions with immunosuppression. Strikingly, only 1.2% of the patients prescribed CBD contracted SARS-CoV-2 whereas 12.2% of the matched, non-cannabinoid patients tested positive (p=0.009), suggesting a potential reduction in SARS-CoV-2 infection risk of approximately an order of magnitude.”1 point

@Slartibarfast so I bud wash my plants. Generally the hydrogen peroxide is only require if you have pests and/or PM. Otherwise you can likely skip the Hydrogen peroxide. I am quite rough with the dunking of buds in the buckets, I then "spin" it in my hand to get excess water off and then hang it up to dry before putting it into a tent to dry. Temperature is very important when drying, heat can degrade the terpenes - try keep it under 26C. Humidity is also very important, you do not want it to be too high (higher risk of getting mold) - but at the same time not too low (can dry out the bud too quickly). Do not have fans blowing directly onto the bud either as it will dry it out too quickly. What I like to do and I understand not everyone has such a setup, but have an extraction fan linked to a RH probe to ensure the humidity stays below 70% (65% if you want to be safer). Then fans inside the tent moving air around but not blowing directly onto the bud which is being dried and I check on the drying buds every day to make sure all is going well. I do prefer to bottle before the bud becomes too dry. I prefer my Boveda packs to lower the RH slightly as opposed to have the Boveda packs increase the RH and try add moisture back into the bud. The trick when doing this is to ensure the bud is not put into the jars too wet - if it is too wet take it out the jars and put it back into the drying tent.1 point

I quickly went to your first link.. Yes, salad from the garden you wash ^^ I just read the first bid and wasn't sure if i should read on. I think we had the discussion about washing buds in here before. As I said, I only do it, if I have to.. and if i really really have to, the compost heap gets visit Soft PM or soft parasite infection.. I would wash. Rest I declare myself the loser and try to make it better next time. I would never ever use a chemical pesticide on my weed (biological warfare i use against PM ^^). That would go compost in any case. Very hard to get it clean and making your weed wet, is also asking shortly for biiiig trouble. When you dry your weed correctly and wait till it has the right moment to jar.. the inside of a big bud can stay very long moist inside, it will release that to the rest. If that goes over 68% in your jar, mold will start to grow. Slowly but steady.. you always smell it first. And if you smell it.. the batch is off. Most save way is to watch your parameters when you dry and OVER dry a bit. As most take it to wet, over dry is a better chance to not have a mold issue. Then get a Boveda bag. I use 62% for the first 2 weeks and 58% for long term storage. You can re-moist the bags, so they last forever, as long as they don't come from a moldy glass.. dump those right away. If you do not trust your own judgment, get a cheap cheap humidity meter to drop in your Jar.. 68%.. you go over.. re dry your stuff! You do it right, you end with weed you can store for as long as you want. Should add.. you want to end up around 62-58% and you will have a sexy smoke1 point
