So these auto's are taking their time to finish flowering, checked the trichomes last night with a microscope and still lots of clear, a little bit of milky but pretty much no amber at all. I will likely look at harvesting them at the end of April, first week of May latest. LSD-25: Pluto Cut: Gelato: OG Kush, I still think it's such a beautiful looking plant:9 points

I just received 4* 3 Feminized seeds from @Totemicfrom the 420sa store. https://store.420sa.co.za/product/totemic-summer-2021-bundle/ Firstly R420 for 12 feminized seeds is fantastic but I was also really impressed by the packaging. Resealable bags, clearly labeled etc. Very very nice. Thanks @Totemicand 420SA5 points

Hello everyone. Apologies for having gone AWOL. I resigned my job in the middle of lockdown last year (my good mate was my boss and my sales were non-existent) and started my own fuel quality business. I've been head down, bum up ever since. Due to the distraction of having to pay rent, buy food and clothe Mrs. H2Ou and myself, I gave up trying to grow my own puff and resorted to supporting a young local fella, who has provided me with some reasonable smoke in the interim. As is my custom, I like to make a little number each evening and whenever I found pips in my bud, I just chucked them into the micro garden bed outside the garage back door. Imagine my surprise when one day, whilst pulling out a huge tangle of cherry tomato vines, I found a full 10 litre flower pot with two seedlings about 6" tall, growing together. I sent a pic to a learned friend upcountry and he suggested I should apply some intensive TLC and see what happens. Lots of lugging the pot from one side of the garden to the other, gradual soil improvement, adjusting water PH, homemade compost, banana tea, Seagro, some fertiliser and a bunch of luck.....well I cut the girls this morning at 06h30. Very little in the way of buds, but the two colas look yummy. (I did buy a loupe).5 points

I believe Vossloh Schwabe do make good SMPS / LED drivers / power supplies. Meanwell also make some great units, I think Meanwell are slightly larger though and they focus more on power supplies in general. VS is not just power supplies. So as suspected, InDorSun make lights in general and not just grow lights, based on their facility one can imagine what sort of overhead costs they have and this will once again affect the pricing. We all know Grow Lights do not sell as quickly as consumer lights which go into a house, so lower volume with higher markup. So take into consideration the labour force behind this factory and the quantity they put out, vs a factory in China which is supplying multiple countries with products and suddenly one can see how something manufactured in China can be an advantage when it comes to pricing. A light not being manufactuered in SA but being assembled in SA - you receive the parts in SA and then they are simply assembled and depending on the quantity it could be done by as few as a single person, although there may be a few more. Therefore labour costs are much lower and little to no big machinery is required either. Would have been nice if they powder coated / anodized the light instead of trying to paint it. The specs received / stated I assume are a mistake though, doubt 188 umol is all the light puts out when run at its "max". I do not feel these are bad lights, however value for money I do feel they are lacking in that department. At the same time, I do not feel one can classify it as a premium light and therefore justifying the price tag is quite difficult, especially when you can get 240W, 576x LM301B diodes, dimmer and all that jazz for around the same price (or even less) depending on where you buy it from. Fit and finish in my experience is even above that of the Comet light. Now that is value for money when a comparison is made.5 points

Took the trays out, packed them tight and cleaned out the lower growth. I'm quite happy with how this is proceeding, but not sure what to expect in terms of yield. The objective of this grow was to try a different style of grow, and test my ability to propagate healthy young plants in the same fashion as a commercial grow. If you look carefully you will notice the plant in the extreme front right of the image is smaller. I noticed it had "topped" it's self. I've removed the weaker of the two growth points in the hope that it will still produce at least a little nugglet. Canopy shot after removing the trays, looking pretty slick given this a first attempt. I wish I had a bigger tent, I think a 32plant S.O.G would look the SHIT! Thanks for looking. Negative or positive, your opinion is valued.5 points

Hey Fam, To give back, I'd like to invite you to tag or comment below, with a members name on the forum, new or old, who has been battling and hasn't been as fortunate enough to have shared in the 420 spirit and sales, or may not be able to purchase seeds due to financial reason. You can even comment for yourself if you fit the criteria (please dont cheat, as I will be checking)(this is for those who need it). From these names, I will look at the likes on each of their tagged name, and bless this person with 3x free RooiBaard Regular seeds, from GSR (not Affiliated or given for this reason). Big thank you to @Marzcanna for adding generously to the Giveaway, with 5x beautiful Nirvana Chemdog Feminised seeds. I'd like to add again, something small. I'll run this from now, 420 too, till Monday morning, the 26th April. This is for fun, so please share and tag, spread the love... Thank you and bless you all Again, all for giving back to the family (Flowering Rooibaard plant below)4 points

Website states this for your light: 1000mm Saturn Parabola 90W 13200 lumens 188 μmols (92W with Far Red Engaged) 90W for the 1 meter lamp without IR and 92 Watt with IR.. so 2 watt goes into the IR... and then your sticker has 15% higher numbers as the website.. 110 watt with IR. So which one are correct? Also can add.. I got no response over the contact i filled in yesterday, asking for a manual and hanging distances for the comet lamps. I check the clip you posted in the afternoon.. I have some cloning and repotting to do this morning. And with 188 micromol output.. I don't expect a lot of heat.. just very surprised how much electricity it consumes to create that little PAR light. 110 watt for 188 micromol is in no relation to my TS3000 lamps, consuming 450 watt and releasing at 30cm 1300 micromol PAR light. Those lamps you can use for sure on all stages. As said.. the numbers I get on your lamp don't make sense so far.4 points

I received the same Rooibaard as a freebee with my order from GSR. Couldn't believe my eyes. Fkn Rooibaard!!! Germinated 2 seeds. Both duds. One left. Last of the Mohicans. Going to wait until outdoor season to germinate it. Holding thumbs. Malawi Gold, Durban Poison, Swazi Gold and 1 Rooibaard seed are waiting in anticipation for the next outdoor window. Leka!3 points

8 weeks is a short flowering time, although ultimately you need to be able to check the trichomes as mentioned. A loupe or microscope works well. I somehow doubt it is ready for harvest only 8 weeks into flower as very few plants would be and typically they'd be more indica dominant strains.3 points
-
Hard to tell without a closer look at the trichomes. Use a jewelers Loupe or mini microscope. Depanding on what effect you want from your buds, more amber trichomes, more of a sedative effect, more Milky more of a head high. You want a balance of most milky and a few amber trichomes for the right harvest time3 points

Some updates on some of the plants still in the tent... The one Sugarcane I still have going, this one went into flower quite a while after the others. Here is the Bananium, don't think I have posted pics of it in flower yet. How do you guys think it looks in comparison to the Sugarcane? It has not been given the attention it deserves, but very keen to grow it out again and see what it can really do! When I get a chance, I will try take some pics of the bud which is dry and trimmed so you guys can see - will be the Exodus Cheese and LSP next in terms of bud pics.3 points

@Dookie69, if you can dim your mars lights down a bit you will likely also reach a 10 degree lower temp. straight up, the mars lights are outshining the comet by a decent amount... the comet looks a bit dim in comparison.3 points
-
it was actually a decent interview and factory walk through, so thanks for that. even after all of that, i am still not convinced i should be spending the amount they ask for for a fitting. other than the price tag, it looks like a decent setup. another thing i noted is that they are not using meanwell drivers @Dookie69, at least not in the light fittings they showcased ,the drivers used might be made locally as well.3 points

Hey Guys, I will be hosting an event at my local watering hole this weekend, Sunday. Anyone is welcome to come and enjoy. A couple talks about soil and what to do with your left overs, a small 420 giveaway and should be a couple people selling homemade pipes and hemp items.2 points

Yes, the one in flower has a few clones, so it will live on, and sorry to hear about your misfortune on the germination of them. Outdoor will be awesome for this plant.2 points

I’ve just counted ten far red diodes. So it’s like R100ea. The lights have been running as per my pic since 6am today. The Mars drivers are outside the tent, the Comets driver obviously inside the light casing. Here are quick pics of surface temp taken at a similar place on each unit: The Comet is 10deg cooler with the driver inside. The Mars is 240w so you’d expect it to run hotter. Here is a video of Dean from Marijuana SA visiting the InDorSun factory. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Sorry guys, not much to update on here - just harvesting as plants are maturing. Do not have much left in the tent anymore. Some dry bud pics, I always struggle to take nice bud pics though and these are not the best but hopefully help give you guys an idea. Frost on all 3 is pretty good, particularly the sugarcane (duh) and frosted apricots. Slurricane is also frosty but I feel a tad less than the other two. These are not macro photos, just taken with a cell camera and then cropped. These are also not the biggest buds / colas, just reached into the jar to take out what I could get. I will admit that weight wise, none of these 3 are exceptional yielders but not terrible either. I have had other plants yield less. They also do not produce huge colas, unlike the cheese and LSP which I grew this time around. You can click on the picture to open it and zoom in a bit too. Hey all! 'Tis the season to be merry and jolly and I suppose to give to others as well. I also feel that if anyone wants to grow a CBD plant, they should be able to. I have some CBD Charlottes Angel feminised seeds which I am happy to give away to a few members who are keen to grow out a CBD plant. This plant supposedly has THC under 1% and CBD upto 16% but I have seen lab tests where the CBD ends up over 20% actually. So basically you are not going to get much of a high from this plant, but you should be getting quite a bit of CBD. I grew it out and can confirm that smoking or dabbing it, not much of a high at all but certainly does have a calming effect. I will cover the cost of shipping. This will work on a first come first serve basis. Each pack will contain 3 seeds. I am more than happy for everyone on this forum to share with each other - be it the seeds you received or a cutting once you have started to grow the plant out. Ultimately I will be limited by the amount I am willing to spend on shipping as it does add up rather quickly. If you are interested, reply to this thread stating why you would like to grow out this CBD plant and then we can arrange the shipping - I will drop you a PM to get the shipping details. I may wait until all seeds have been claimed before I ship them out - this will make it easier for me as I can then do a single trip and ship them all at once. Once everything has been claimed, I will reply to this thread notifying everyone that the giveaway has come to an end. Keep safe and enjoy the festive season!1 point

Hi 420SA members. There was interest in the work that I've been getting at for the last few weeks, so I agreed to do a diary. Any guidance, advise or opinions welcome. Grow Specs Mamoth Classic 100 tent (1m² total floor space, 2m³ total). 1 x 240w quantum board. I don't think this is enough light, I'm considering adding another once I beat SARS in an ongoing cluster fuck from 2018. 2 x Ram Oscillating fans. 2 x HIT150 inline fans. One drawing filtered air from outside, the second exhausts outside to. Substrate - 40% Coir, 40%Perlite, 20% Washed silica(I like the additional weight the silica adds to the bags/pots). 5ltr Letaba plastic grow bags because the dimensions of the bag was quite appealing due to space issues. This will be my last grow using Nutriplex fertiliser program. I have a pest management program in place which consists of yellow sticky traps and a neem application every 10-14 days(not during flower). Beans were germinated at the end of Jan 2021. I selected only 2 mothers roughly 18 days later. Moms at 18 days Moms were topped and grown on for a further 20 days, then cuttings were taken. There is only one really sleg image I'm to embarrassed to share of the moms before they were mutilated. Brand new cuts Total of 12 cuts per plant were taken from each mother. l Rooted cuts 100% strike rate. The cuttings had a 50% dilution of the Nutriplex veg formulation from day 1 and received a fluvic foliar every other day. Looks like it worked. Bagged/potted cuts 4 days after the above image the plants were bagged and put into the tent. They received full strength Nutriplex veg formulation for 1 week, no issues. Which brings us round to 6 April when the below image was snapped. Plants are looking good and new growth can be seen. Thanks for looking, I really hope this grow ends well. CRIT, ADVISE and OPINION is always encouraged. Negative or positive, your feedback is valued... Particularly light and nutrition department.1 point

Hey guys, I wondered if any you thought of collecting ash and coal among other decomposed matter after this fire that took place a few days ago? I’m planning on building a soil bed for summer and just dug up the hole, removed the dirt, and was about to fill it up with soil until I had the idea that I should collect as much ash/coal/organic matter and lay that under my bed of soil. It’s seems like the perfect time to start preparing your garden summer and there’s so much organic matter that can be used to fertilise your beds1 point

The fixture has been powder coated, it just scratches I suspect were “touched up”. It’s not good but really in this case I let it slide since this isn’t a display item for my living area in my home, if you know what I’m saying. So back to my reason for getting this light... I wanted just a bit more oomph in the tent because the next run will be with CO2 from the start and this means more light and higher temps. I’ve been running the humidifier and lights for a few days in the tent, and it comfortably sits at 30 deg C and 65% RH (Veg test). Without extra heaters involved. The new Mars lights in this form are very very expensive (if you guys think this light is pricy, go check Mars on Hydroponic.co.za). So let’s see how it goes, I should germinate late next week. Potato pic update. I cocked up by not anticipating how much they would stretch and few of the girls are showing a little damage which I suspect is due to the proximity to lamp on Thursday and Friday. The ducting will be changed back to how it was originally. I noticed that the plant in the right corner was being sucked to the exhaust vent and tried to see what if there was a way around it. This is not an option, I'd love some input if you have. Plants are looking quite uniform, even though the image doesn't really show it. They are between 35 and 40-ish cm in height. @The_StonedTrooperlooks like they have tripled in size if not more. Side profile showing the lanky little ladies. I will take some time this week to clean out the some of the lower growth to ensure the main cola continues to be dominant. Still think i need to get the drip trays out so they can be packed closer. Thanks for looking, always up for opinions, negative or positive as well as suggestions or guidance. Happy Monday! Apologies in advance for any damage to your eyes while viewing my awful snaps.1 point

If you flip to flower now, you'll probably just make it for space. Check the breeder specifics on the strain for the size into flower. Then come back to me. Normally, its double, but can be 3 times bigger too1 point
-
Image from last Sunday. One clone still looks like its fallen behind slightly. If it doesn't improve over the coming days, it will be moved to the edge and replaced with a plant of the same height. I'm considering taking out the drip trays so the herd can be packed tighter together and create some space on the sides of the tent. Not sure if this is the way, I will probably seek the sage advise of the magic 8ball. LOL! Fertigation has proved to be troublesome, We are using a 20ltr backpack sprayer in the mean time while components for an automated fertigation system are gathered. I'm away for the whole week so my Special Lady Friend is holding it down. I'm super lucky to have a partner who loves cultivation as much as me. Play together, stay together. Crit, opinion, advise, be it positive or negative is always welcome. Thanks for looking, peas!1 point

Pluto Cut Ja no I wouldn't do this strain outdoors again I heard Ethos could be finicky and that only the most perfect environments will do and I can see why. Out of all the outdoor plants I've grown this Pluto Cut has come out the worst. A lot of the plant is littered with powdery mildew, while the other outdoor plants I have are all sitting pretty. I will say though, the actual buds are very sticky and smells very pleasing. I am going to have to give the buds a proper wash at harvest. (sorry about the sideways pics, they are being automatically rotated as I upload and I've tried long enough to fix it )1 point

So a quick update, I have had to put the autos into the flower tent so they are on a 12 / 12 light cycle too. OG Kush - I really like this plant so far, the way it grows, the frost is decent (for an auto), the darker coloured bud looks great and makes the trichs pop. Even has a nice fade going. Gelato - it takes it's time, at least this pheno does. Looking much better but I am hoping the buds will swell still and gain a bit of fatness. Pluto cut - the leaves are quite peculiar in terms of their colour and the way they're dieing off. Seems alright but not quite exceptional, one of the larger autos out of this run. LSD 25 - I like the colour. Quite leafy though. The other smaller two auto's I ended up giving away. @Ill_Evan how is your auto looking?1 point
