  1. Hi folks, So I did some mainline topping and training on Saturday and today. Still one exercise shy for the 8 main colas I desire. The Tortoni #2 grew so strong and vigorous (seems she was just a little shy at first) that she got 1st and 2nd topping all in one. And she has recovered very nicely I have to add. The Bubblegum is one bushy stacked Indica which is making me scratch my head as to whether I should try the full mainline or only stop at the second topping and run a flux mainline.. she will definitely need plenty of defoliation either which way.. Palomino and Twisted Helix also coming along nicely with GSC hot on their heels. A fresh batch of clones also chilling at the moment. Damn with this training there are a shit load of cuttings that you just don't want to chuck.. Also topped up on the soil as my levels were dropping a bit.. 4. In the tent its all about making new autoflower seeds. 4 confirmed russian fuel auto males being crossed with 2 russian fuel females, 1 strawberry cola auto and 8 purple glam kush autos. Also started today in the germination dome there's 2 pineapple express fastbuds autos and 3 more purple glam kush autos. @Totemic I will need your advise soon on the sts kit and maby some tips on how you do it. Do i get rid of the males now and just do feminized or do you think its worth waiting for f1 regular females to s1?

  5. Yes I agree, I think YouTube is too sensitive to the matter, I got a few flags before for talking about seeds, come to find out later they changed their policy, we not allowed to talk about seeds or seed banks any more which seems ridiculous. Twitch seems to be the place for cannabis content at the moment

  6. Ok, so all the photoperiod females have been moved outside. I'm just going to leave them to complete flowering and see what happens if I just don't harvest them. Can they survive the winter and maybe reveg? 3 x omg 4 x strawberry cough lemon jedi f2 lemon attacks and a master lester 1 x braincake

  7. Commendable. I think we need much more local video content in the cannabis community. It feels very far and few between on YouTube, I know most local guys try things on Instagram, but I think YouTube is more suitable. Just unfortunate that they censor cannabis content so much.

  9. Pep bags are crap, dont go that route. Also doubt those pvc bags will last outdoors due to sun's uv. The woolies material bags are a better 'budget' growbag option, ours are 2 years now and still going, but the handles are weak and dont last. Also have some proper growbags and they are the best option. If you are growing 4-6 plants and can afford it, get proper grow bags, much stronger and the handles last.

  13. @hopsandhash man, I wouldn't do it. I mean it's something different, but is it better than the pots you already get out there? plus how much you gona pay for that thing? I am sure it will cost about the same as a 30L material pot, but it's definitly not made for what material pots are made for. I can guarentee you now you'll end up putting that thing aside once you get the right pots and will always be asking yourself what the hell where you thinking. so why not just skip the school fees and get a real pot? if you wanted to go cheap and still have a material like pot I would suggest looking at what @Bos is doing with his pnp/pep material bags. I just don't know if you can get as many uses out of those bags before you have to replace them, plus what the material pots and other brands state is that theres nothing leaching into your soils and the bags material isn't interacting with the water and nutes you giving the plant. can you be sure these "make shift" bags are of the same quality? I don't see the benefit in this

  14. glyphosate gets mentioned in the video above. it harms EVERYTHING it touches. then they made *glufosinate which is just a relative of the latter and it still harms EVERYTHING. it ends up in streams it's just a big mess

  15. faqme you guys where all off work today? I am only getting back now and there is 4 pages on this thread!? I will get to reading the whole thread, @PsyCLown https://www.researchgate.net/publication/331132826_The_Impact_of_Chemical_Fertilizers_on_our_Environment_and_Ecosystem that link is to an abstract from a book written by a couple of guys who I'm sure you'll be able to indulge, here is the list of authors and their qualifications, read most of it, it's quite a read. *if you scroll down on that page you'll find the whole chapter here is a PDF, not sure if you can get into it? but it's just about how any synthetic nitrate even the most subtle forms in our drinking water to the more heavy stuff like ammonium nitrate being way more harmfull all have links to the hemoglobin disorder. nitratmethemog.pdf any quick search on the old google bitch on methemoglobinemia and its relations to synthetic nitrates will give you the info. I just think, we can do it without synthetics, but to convince the world to do one thing is insane hahah that's not what I'm after. anyway, let me see what I missed.. *edit

  16. I had friend who did the same, I think I know of this certain "taste" you are describing. I also had a similar taste when I run coco and synthetics, maybe that's what made me start to question synthetics, and i only say this because Ive used coco with organics aswel and for me just seemed each plant did had an unique terpene profile. We have so many strains with different terpene profiles, it made sense that every strain had a different taste to it, but some may also lean on to question, the cure, which obviously holds alot of value, and does play a big role in final product in every way. But we not talking about a hay taste you usally get with bad cure, but with that said, I have grown awesome stuff with a good flavour using synthetics. Which makes me question if so maybe it's the different products? But than, what does that actually mean? I ll leave that one for everyone to decide for themselves. I will continue to use synthetics where it suits me and for my type of grow but I do lean more towards organic. Atleast for now

  19. Uhh.. that plant is hanging Can make you a picture once dried. Also went to builders and looked for inspiration for screens. I hate nets.. I like to be able to move pots and reorganize. With a net, that is not possible after some stage. So I decided to make a screen for each pot.. that is what I found and came up with, I give it a try.. will make different sizes for 22 and 40 pots. A screen for each pot.. Goal is a 16 cola plant with a dead flat canape. Lets see ^^

  20. I do not see any "health" advantage.. bio or chemical. The main fact is, not good to burn anything and inhale it. your lungs work best with clean fresh air. No other method grows as fast as hydro. Commercial setups all run hydro to my knowing. Hydro just needs most knowledge to run it smooth, things need to be always in the green area. But we are home growers... we use a bit what we like. When i bought the first tent in SA, i was very determined to go hydro... that is what i used to run. Bought already the hoses and valves... and then i get told. Go soil As the guy knows what he is talking about, no arguement from my side. Would be a bit like argueing with a alien about interstellar space travel. So ended with soil... but... if the law goes legal.. the grow setups for the coffee shop, will be hydro. Just easier for mass production. I like the simplicity of soil, organic fertilizer and rain water. No other real reason otherwise. Grow how you enjoy... in general, people enjoy something, ends nice If you want to know what is in your weed... send it to a lab. They do all from potency to heavy metal content.. And if you are not happy with your grow results... why not try one of the others methods.. might suit you more.. can end way better as before.

  23. So yes, I think everybody started with salts and has either tried soil and moved back to salts or stayed. I really enjoy reading to expand my knowledge around micro-biological sciences, physics and chemistry as it correlates to agriculture so bio-physics and bio-chemistry, compiling all this info is super overwhelming for someone who barely got by in school, but comforting knowing the info comes from industry leaders, bringing agriculture to new heights! As you can imagine, there is new tech daily, the possibilities for AI, processing power increasing at an exponential rate. With all this comes a new understanding around microbiology and what chemical fertilizer/pesticide do in the soil. Chemicals companies obviously didn't care about what could possibly go wrong back then, but now because of the direct linking to certain types of disease and cancers, they are highly implicated. You see this is still all happening in the background, not much coverage, and still very little awareness. Bayer is facing in the 10s of thousands of law suites with direct links of Glyphosates causing cancer, and you thought you were being healthy eating that carrot. Glyphosate is the key ingredient in a once popular pesticide that had the ability to chelate a plethora of heavy metals resulting in the plant taking it up and you getting cancer to make the long story short. Salt nutrients are definitely a successful way to grow crops, but it still the equivalent to a picture or a digital song, its is not analogous. Dr Aden Anderson who has the highest qualification in just about everything, explains that while in different parts of the plants life the nutritional requirements change drastically, there are about 5/6 different stages in the reproductive/flowering phase. Would make sense that you would be able to achieve a higher level of tastiness. But not the yeild. However, I don't think anyone would argue that we are far behind the more progressive countries practicing full regenerative models and knocking it out the park. So yes, full organic... and still paying school fees.

  24. yeah I guess like most said, it's personal preference at the end of the day, but cause this thread is about explaining our preferences, here's mine I've mentioned this a couple times before on here, I worked on a big export flower farm in Hermanus for a number of years, where I learned a LOT about the difference between organic and synthetic fertilizers. you'll be able to spot in my earlier threads that I used to mix organics and synthetics, used to also get good results even though a bunch of the members where frowning upon it. I grow all organic now. for me, where I stand right now, I believe synthetic nutes should be discontinued completely. The existence of those products have devistating effects on our biodiversity right around the world. not only on our fauna and flora, but humans too. there has been studies done on the synthetic nitrates we add to our soils and research shows that plants consumed carrying those harmfull nitrates result in a toxic reaction with the hemoglobin in the blood stream, causing methaeglobinaemia which damages the vascular and respitory system. This causes shortnes of breath and suffocation in severe cases. this is not only from the weed we smoke but what contains most of these harmfull nitrates is our FMCG crops. that fat healthy looking bright green lettuce on the shelf in checkers is more harmful in this regard than the weed we consume If you guys are interested we can go into detail as to who what why and where, but the fact of the matter is, organic farming, be it urban or commercial, will stand the test of time. the most important test, I would say.

  25. I would say rather brew a tea and then dilute that tea with some fresh spring water. 1:10 the top spoil would have spent a few days by now covered in a layer of ash and a lot of the compounds have leached into the soil, I would say the top soil is more rich in terms of diversity looking at the macro, micro and trace elements, but by now the thick layer of ashes has gotten wet and leached out an abundance of lime into the soil. VERY IMPORTANT if you do brew a tea with the soil be 100% sure to check the PH & PPM of that tea before going all willy nilly with it!!! lime can cause big kak in that regard

  26. Here’s my Charlotte growing nicely and just topped today. Left the undergrowth as they can make suitable clones when a bit bigger. I snapped a small branch of the undergrowth and trying to get it rooted.

  27. not much happening right now, still recovering from the HST and settling into their new pots, growth is rather slow. still on 18/6, *since repotting them I've been giving only dechloronated tap water ph down to 6.0, will give 0.5ml/L fishmix in days to come. picking a leaf here and there everytime I open the tent.

  28. it was time I had enough of the blurple, I keep getting busy for like 5 min before remembering to switch it off, then I look out the tent and everythings dark and it's an instant headache. anyway, think the girls recovered well from the stress put the scrog net up, might do another layer depending on how they grow out in the next few weeks put the flower light in, still on 18/6 maybe 3 weeks I'll flip to 12/12 wire management here helps me sleep like a baby at night

  33. no no, tap water is 9 when it comes out. I never give it to my plants like that. ph in the soil was 5.9 ec was 9.9 or maybe even higher, that's what caused the shit

  34. I like this chart, I have studied it to a T and always keep it close by. It's helped me a lot, but like I said before they got flushed with rain water then gave a very very small feed and they freaked out. so I already kinda knew the problem was bigger than just a deficiency or a burn from a spray. I have quite some experience with Neem and that was definitly not neem related. maybe the neem helped shrivel up the parts of the leaves that was already damaged, that's for certain.
