  2. Good morning mense, I am getting prepped for another round of winter flowering. I took a few snaps last night, inside the veg room. My biggest girls needed topping so I made a couple of clones too. This is my plant food, just chuck down a scoop full every two weeks and that's the feeding taken care of. Half a scoop of gypsum to add calcium sulfate I soaked the plugs overnight and took the cuts before I apply more ferts to the donor plants. I cut near the node, cover the end in hormone and push it into the plug. My winter line up Lid on for a week and a heat mat underneath. New seedlings are Ad hoc x Malawi Topped and fed The ferts will get mixed in at the next watering. Today I am doing a bug spray, I alternate between neem oil and garlic for the pests and moulds. Thanks for looking in, any comments or questions I will try my best to answer. Have a smokey weekend everyone

  3. An awesome day had by all. Stoners and growers shared, smoked and enjoyed a 420 afternoon. About 30/40 people attended, we had Nic, a soil expert really going into some great detail about good soil mixes, microbes and growing better weed. It ran so late, I was lucky enough not to speak. So we started off with a relaxed braai, the secrets of soil was amazing and went on for about 2 hours keeping the people glued, 4:20pm I handed out as many kingsize joints as I had ( about 20/30 ) and we all sparked up under the trees. Sadly a beautiful soul was taken that night, the winner of our 420 giveaway died in a tragic car accident on her way back home from Port Alfred later in the evening. Please be careful on the roads guys, there is alot of chaos happening. Witnessed another death last week just outside my place, and a guy driving our tunnel back from East London had an accident on Monday. Too many impatient stressed drivers and also people under the influence. Stay safe.

  5. So I Chopped the Twisted Helix(1st Pic) and Big Buddah Cheese(no pic) The Big Buddah seems to be the most frosty although the smallest. (2nd Pic) I couldn't help but take taste of the GDP, when you break her up you see the purple inside and get slight sweet scents. (3rd Pic) Jelly Bean just finished week 11. She has 2 more weeks to go but the citrus smells are amazing

  8. I've been receiving a few emails of late about some dude called Alistair Eli or Alistair Nixson (FB profile pictured below). The people who emailed me bought weed from the guy but did not receive their orders and he's gone silent on them. Basically they've been scammed by the guy. He's been posing as a supposed online dealer, distributing a PDF with our logo in it.... so just for the record to any of those who are wondering. He is in no way affiliated with 420SA. We also do not sell cannabis. Don't buy weed from him and don't order weed from some random dude spreading a shitty looking PDF weed menu on Facebook... it's not a particularly wise move

  9. Sup guys. Just wanted to close off this thread by saying thanks to all that provided me with guidance and advice during this past season. I have certainly been enlightened and can't wait for the next outdoor season to begin... I managed to grow 3 strains: Super Lemon Haze (Green House Seeds) Purple Urkle (Bud Buddies) Blue Dream (Bagseed) All plants have been harvested and are busy curing... I've already dipped into the blue dream and I'm really happy with the result... Thanks once again and hope you all have a great harvest as well...

  11. They are pretty normal feeders. The gelato comes through quite dominant, and you won't go wrong treating them like other Gelato lines

  13. @Totemic never grew that strain... you have us newbies some hints regarding feeding? They are more hungry, not so or rather normal? Looking very much forward to dip into your genetics

  15. Some updates on some of the plants still in the tent... The one Sugarcane I still have going, this one went into flower quite a while after the others. Here is the Bananium, don't think I have posted pics of it in flower yet. How do you guys think it looks in comparison to the Sugarcane? It has not been given the attention it deserves, but very keen to grow it out again and see what it can really do! When I get a chance, I will try take some pics of the bud which is dry and trimmed so you guys can see - will be the Exodus Cheese and LSP next in terms of bud pics.

  16. I realise this is an old post but it might be read in future. The GHE Micro comes in hard and soft water variants. The soft water option has much more Calcium in it than the soft water and your nute mix ought not to need more as a result. Only add Calcium if there is a deficiency. 17. @Marzcanna Interesting, won't go into it too much as it is a bit off topic but it seems it might be more aimed at heat and plant transpiration when moving away from the HID's which generate more heat as well as the older LED tech, possibly the blurple lights and not so much the newer and now common quantum boards / LED strips which run full spectrum LEDs such as the Samsung LM301b/h etc. @The_StonedTrooper Coco has cation sites, part of the reason why one needs to buffer their coco before use to avoid the coco from leaching calcium and magnesium from the nutes / feed you are giving your plants. The calcium and magnesium replace the potassium and sodium which is naturally found in coco, they basically have a stronger bond than the potassium and sodium.

  24. Thanks bud. Yeah, I like to have numbers and planning behind things as much as I can for stuff like this. Not sure why I didn't fill in the perlite field, but I obviously added there too Its the first soil I mixed myself, so will see what happens.

  25. Having something like this is definitely the best way to approach it bud, nice planning. It doesn't look like a heavily amended mix, but it does look to have quite a few moving parts when talking about fertility. I'm definitely not an expert, but having many sources of dense nutrient transfer is very tricky and almost never works.

  26. 100% It does get a lot. Thanks, I will keep that in mind, but I only fed them one compost tea before I left, and they were already in this state, so I don't think that is the case here. In the past grows I have had, I did a lot of compost teas in the same method and never had an issue. I am becoming more aware of the compost I buy though, as I have found a lot of pests in recent ones "I believe at least". I will attach a screenshot of the contents of my soil, the highlighted column to the right of the black line is what I used at the end of the day. Yup, overwatered and under nuted. Thanks bud, sadly no EC pen, but some solid advice here. Maybe EC pen should be my next purchase over soil PH. Because as you say, I can test run off. Just always more of a mission. Haha I must agree, I also feel that some days organic can be more work. There is quite a bit. I think I started these guys way back in FF soil, and then I transplanted to my soil. I will attach a screenshot of the contents of my soil, the highlighted column to the right of the black line is what I used at the end of the day. Thanks for all the help peeps. I will report back as they 'hopefully' recover and let you all know what I did and what happened

  27. Does not look like there is much perlite/aeration come to think of it. Compaction could be making the issues worse.
    1 point
  28. Those plants looks like they are over watered. Your roots need some oxygen. It also looks like they were in a small pot for to long. You need to dry the pots out and the plants need about a week to recover.

  30. https://www.ilovegrowingmarijuana.com/nutrients-deficiency-calcium/ There's a few around, I can't seem to find the proper study I read, will come across it eventually. But I also like the above one, say LEDs offer a smaller spectrum of light. Certain wavelengths the plant requires to generate calcium are absent

  31. Diffinatly looks like a mobile deficiency, what's your PH reading?
    1 point
  32. Hey peeps, thanks for the rapid response. I agree with you all ....been reading finally now that I had a gap, and also feel like I am overwatering and not feeding enough. I also thought deficient at first, that is why I made a quick tea before I went away. In all honesty, work has just been really bad, so I have neglected them. If I try to remember correctly, I think this meant I was watering less often, but a lot more....so overwatering and with gaps in between where I did not have time. So I think they lost nutes in between, got over watered and also nutes washed out maybe. Bad grower, bad!! ....I will try and get back on track this week. The small Sherbet queen is definitely looking the best so far. Nutes: So I am feeding BioBizz Grow (and later bloom) at the recommended 1ml per 1l of water. Using RO water and PH to 5.8-6.2. Teas: (I know they are probably not grand, but still learning on that front. I put a good tablespoon or 2 for feed, 1-2 cups of different compost of what I have on hand. And then 1-2 cups of worm castings. I also sometimes add kelp flakes (a lot more recently). I do not typically PH my teas, but feed as is. I do let the pots dry. I usually don't water with lots of run off, if any, so the trays/bowls are more there to catch a few drops and keep things organized. Its odd how you can have great grows, and then the next one falls off the rails...although I definitely believe this is 100% my fault and work/busy related

  34. Fair enough, I have however done a side by side for this same reason, as my friend swore by better flavor with organics, at the time I was all about synthetics and yield, so to keep it relevant I had the same strain, same medium, same watering method, only difference was in one I used organic fert, the rest synthetic. The organic in my case did taste better, the synthetic like most of the 90% of the times had this "certain" taste to it. I think it's the same taste people were referring to in previous posts. But without proper lab tests its hard to be sure of it, and I cant say it is defiantly better in terms of terpene profile. It goes to say its again a 50/50, some say its better others don't find a difference
    1 point
  35. I have to disagree with you there. Based on my personal experiences, I did not notice any improvement in terpenes / flavour of bud grown with organic ferts vs bud grown with synesthetic ferts. I'd love to be able to do a side by side grow, same cut and then send samples from both plants to a lab for testing and see what the results say.
    1 point
  36. You can get the best of both worlds if your timing is impeccable, and you know how fast you are depleting your organic matter, which takes out a whole host of benefits, also rendering many other nutrients in the soil unavailable for such a time, then it becomes a guessing games especially for the next plants if you using the same soil
    1 point
  37. There definitely is a global shift towards a more sustainable approach and it really doesn't have to include finger pointing or forcing people to change their ways of getting a desired outcome. I do not have anything against people who use synthetic fertilizers at all. When it's a home grower trying to get some bud out decent home grow, that's a win! I do feel as though I can tell straight away when the bud was grown with salts. It really is a different type of experience, then depending on how well said bud was grown or fertilized then cured, you sometimes get a snap, crackle and a pop, almost like someone snuck some pop rocks in there... that evidently cant be organic matter being burned (this is a inorganic salt residue) - also worth mentioning this can happen in full organic methods as nutrients in the organic form first need to be converted into an inorganic form for uptake (which happens in the plant). There are no stories of negative effects I've come across to support that nitrates or nitrate residues in the fruits are bad for human beings who ingest them / there are however studies of nitrate residues being an attractant for pathogens and disease. I must also agree with the fact that there are way more unhealthy things we folk do and probably wont stop doing anytime soon, one of those being ALCOHOL! man how I love my dopskies. And we all know how that story ends, proven many times over. But really. No hate for home grower using synthetics or anything like that, growing weed is already hard enough. My only hate is for the commercial industries not observing the crucial rolls they are playing in climate control and managing their soils better. Its complete and total ignorance, monocropping, heavy tilling, bare ground (that's left because it doesn't work anymore) and the likes. This is who I don't like - Big Farmer, haha dick heads.

  38. That discussion is on for decades I make it more simple. The better you can dial in your strain to your fertilizer, light, climate, counts more compared to what medium or fertilizer you use... bio or chemical. The better you know the strain you grow, the better the result.

  41. Don't want to keep spamming Totemic's picture comments, however I do agree to a point. The sugarcane does not produce big buds, infact so far all of the very frosty In House Genetics strains I have run have without a doubt been some of the most frosty strains but the bud size is smaller than other strains I have run. With that being said though, the frost of the Sugarcane is by far the best and most impressive. Pictures I have taken do not do it any justice, gotta see it in person to truly appreciate it. It is an Instagram worthy strain in terms of frost. I actually feel bad trimming the sugar leaves as they're covered in just as many trichomes as the bud is! So far it certainly appears that the frost comes with one having to sacrifice bud size. Big buds are nice, but, gotta break them apart to get them to fit into the grinder anyways. haha Not something I am particularly bothered with, I happily smoke the popcorn buds as well. Ain't nothing wrong with them.

  45. Hey All I hadn't planned on doing a log or grow report on this when I started, but as this was my first time growing out an Auto and go at HSO seeds. So, I thought I'd give you a gathering of the images, all that I have in one place, and as the stuff cures, will write up a smoke report, if anyone is interested? Not the start, but around half way through flowering. Plant 1 Plant 2 Plant 3 The Group shot, 3 weeks before harvest The top of number 2, head in the clouds From the top looking down on number 3 Night of the chopping About 2 week in to the dry, and the 2 remaining plants, 1 and 3, then cleaned and put into jars as below The finished product, started the curing process and its oh so sticky and juicy smelling, it's no wonder this strain gets high reviews on the Terpenes, the citrus aroma is intense and pungent, plant 1 with a grapefruit flavor smoke and smell, and then plant 3 with an interesting woody lemon vibe. More details when cured Thank you for taking the time to view my post Just sharing with my family and hope you like, and always giving my honest opinion.

  46. Sorry guys, not much to update on here - just harvesting as plants are maturing. Do not have much left in the tent anymore. Some dry bud pics, I always struggle to take nice bud pics though and these are not the best but hopefully help give you guys an idea. Frost on all 3 is pretty good, particularly the sugarcane (duh) and frosted apricots. Slurricane is also frosty but I feel a tad less than the other two. These are not macro photos, just taken with a cell camera and then cropped. These are also not the biggest buds / colas, just reached into the jar to take out what I could get. I will admit that weight wise, none of these 3 are exceptional yielders but not terrible either. I have had other plants yield less. They also do not produce huge colas, unlike the cheese and LSP which I grew this time around. You can click on the picture to open it and zoom in a bit too. Sugarcane: Slurricane: Frosted Apricots:
