And I'm off. Germination plan: little pots, bottom 1/2 Organisoilux, top half 50/50 peat/vermiculite. Beans planted +- 1cm deep. Watered in with mycos and some microbes. Some diy humidity domes and found a spot for them next to a lemon haze auto finishing up in the next couple of weeks. Also moved some to my makeshift flower fridge box while Im sourcing a better plan. Let's see9 points

24 hour soak in the shot glass and I have three sunken seeds. Next I soaked some EazyPlugs in 5.8pH water and then let them warm up on the heat mat before popping the three seeds inside at a depth of about 5mm and lightly covering the tops via pinching. Then into the veg tent in a closed propagation dome on top of a heat mat. The veg tent itself is a 1.2x1.2m LiteHouse Lite tent. I have a 120W Quantum Board set at 100W at about 120cm high. From past grows I have found this to be a sweet spot for seedlings/clones but I must still play around considering this is the first time I'm using this tent. I am looking to optimise the light spread as much as possible without necessarily upgrading the LED as well but I am confident it's got enough oomph for a 1.2x1.2 veg tent. The mylar seems way better than my old generic tent but I can't objectively say. Other than that I also have a 4' exhaust fan just to pull stale air out of the tent at low speed as well as a DIY panel heater with a Sonoff switch to automatically regulate the temperature within the veg tent. At this time I like keeping the temp at a cozy 24C. Next we wait for the seedlings to present themselves7 points

Start Germination (09/05/2021) -Seeds taken out of package and inspected. -Got utensils/tools/equipment for Germination process: shot glass, small yoghurt container/tub, non-pH'd water, soil (garden soil - no added nutrients). -Put water in shot glass. Put TWO seeds in the shot glass with water to soak - "Soaking Method". [Should soak for 3-7 days, depending on how long it takes for seed to split and tap root to start developing, at that point transplant into soil/other medium.] -Put ONE seed into yoghurt tub with soil. Place seed fingernail depth so that seedling/sprout doesn't struggle and take long to push towards the light - therefore germination process will not be comprimised. Water frequently to keep soil moist, but not over-watered. -#NB: ONE of the seeds in the " shot glass" will be taken out after 3 days - regardless of tap root development - and transplanted into soil. This is to serve as a Hybrid Germination Method of the two aforementioned methods. -Place shot glass in darkness. Place yoghurt tub in room under desk lamp (CFL). -Observe frequently for any results/signs of development. Two to three times a day minimum.6 points

Ok so I planted the seeds into a small tray. Soil used is Freedom Farms Fine Gremination Mix. Thanks to @GreenGrow Garden Route Seeds all sunk to the bottom. Planted about 1cm deep. Popped the tray into my humidity dome for some extra heat. Seeds may take a day or 2 longer to germinate as it is quite cold. Will get the heat mat going again this afternoon.6 points

Morning folks. I did a defoliation on the ladies this morning to open up all the mains and growth tips. For the last couple of weeks of vegging I want the canopy as open as possible. I have picked up that the Twisted Helix has a tendency to start splitting at the stem where the plant was topped.. Maybe because she grows so vigorous? So I wrapped the topped tips with insolation tape and will keep it close by if the situation becomes worse. Here are the before and after pics.. Yeah and they can drown quickly too. These seeds are fresh. Temps are just a bit low after this weather we've had, and I expect everyone's seeds to be above ground within the next 5 days.3 points

I just got my STS ingredients and now just need to wait for a few clones to get big enough. While I'm waiting I'm looking for some tips on how best to do things A few questions I have so far I see a few articles saying that its best to use multiple plants (i.e. feminize one, pollinate the other). The argument seems to be that the pollen is ready before the flowers are. But if I collect the pollen, which I'd want to do anyway, there is there any real disadvantage to using one plant? Logistically it seems simpler to isolate a single plant... How do you isolate the plant and ensure no pollen spreads? Obviously a separate tent, but I'm sure that is not enough. I'd guess I'd have to have the separated as far away from one other as possible (different rooms). What type of filter? (stockings wont work right?) What schedule do you recommend for STS? Rough timeframe? Any good articles / books I should look at? Thanks2 points

I am very interested to see how long it takes the Tortoni's to germinate with all the different germination methods being used. The two I currently have running took quite a couple of days to show tap root. But then again I dropped them straight into a peat pellet. Good luck man2 points

19.15 i checked the seeds (11 hours 45 mins passed) and plated them. 1 swimmer, 2 sinkers Used filtered (carbon and UV) water for plating.. normal kitchen paper towels and a little medical scoop to fish out the seeds and place them. Then cover with another paper towel. Warmed the water to 26 degrees, so the new home is nice and warm. Decided to keep the plates in the veg tent, is rather warm 24/7. Lets see tomorrow morning were we stand. I put the kitchen towel around not to keep it more warm ^^ but to be sure is dark where the seeds are.2 points

2021 Indoor Growoff Format, Rules & Guidelines ------------------------------------- Seed Drop Window - 8 May 2021 to 22 May 2021 Soft Switch Deadline (changing to flowering light hours) - 3 July 2021 Judging Deadline (only if you miss Soft Switch Deadline) - 7 September 2021 ------------------------------------- Growoff Format Growers will all be growing out the same feminized seeds provided by Totemic Cannacraft. The format is relatively straight forward - grow out all the seeds provided, document accordingly and your grow will be judged at the end. Your grow has to be performed Indoors Only and needs to be started during the Seed Drop Window indicated above There is no harvest deadline but instead a Soft Switch Deadline, which entails the following: The Soft Switch Deadline will be the 3rd of July, which gives you sufficient time to veg your plants and 10 weeks to flower till around the 7th of September. If you choose to switch before or on the 3rd of July, you may continue your grow till you are happy that your plants are finished. There is no harvest deadline. If you choose to switch after the 3rd of July, a Judging Deadline applies and the state of your plants will only be judged on how they are on the 7th of September. Each grower will germinate and grow out all 3 seeds till harvest but choose only one plant to be put forward for judging. Not all seeds are required to be grown out till the end, your chances of success will just be greater if you grow out all 3 plants. Each grower will be required to run a diary of their grow updating their diary every 7 days. Please see the rules thread for more details on competition rules Once all grows are complete the judges will then deliberate and decide the winners. Basic Rules Your grow must be performed INDOORS ONLY. Your plants may not be placed under the sun for an extended period of time. You are only allowed to take your plants out very briefly for photographing. This is a rule that is impossible to enforce so we have to rely on trust and your honesty. You may only grow out the competition seeds provided by Totemic Cannacraft. No other genetics may be grown out. If you attempt to use other genetics it will be identified and you will be immediately disqualified. Growoff Diary Rules & Guidelines Each participant is required to run a Growoff Diary under the Growoff Diaries board. Diaries are subject to certain rules that ensure this competition remains as fair as possible for all taking part. PLEASE READ THE BELOW RULES CAREFULLY TO AVOID DISQUALIFICATION Getting Started Create your own topic/thread underneath the Growoff Diaries board. The topic title must be your Username ONLY. For example if your username is John33 your topic must be called John33 and nothing else. This topic/thread will be your official Growoff Diary. Your first diary entry must be please be a shot of your Totemic Tortoni seed pack with all 3 seeds in. You can do this as soon as you have received your seeds. Those that received their seeds from 420SA and did not collect from Totemic will receive a unique Growoff sticker with their 420SA Profile name on. Please include this sticker in your photo along with your seed pack. Seed germination must take place during the Seed Drop Window. Please document your seed germination technique in detail. We need this information to determine accountability should germination not be a success, and whether we can replace your seed pack (courier at own expense). You can grow out as many of the 3 seeds as you wish. Every plant that you do grow will need to be documented in your diaries. You will be choosing your best plant at the end. Diary Update Frequency Diaries must be updated at least once every 7 days. Your diary will effectively begin from the day of germination so please record that day in your diary. Diaries with more frequent and extensive updates are most welcome. Your diary updates must be current and not contain images of your plants taken more than 1 day before you post your update. Diaries that are not updated in time will be flagged and will undergo a warning process which involves a 1st Warning once a diary has been detected as out of date. If the diary has not been updated within 24 hours of the 1st Warning, a 2nd Warning is applied. If the diary is not updated within 24 hours of the 2nd warning you will be disqualified from the Growoff, unless a valid excuse is given. If you anticipate a late diary entry before hand please notify @420SA, @PsyCLown, @Ill_Evan or @CreX as soon a possible and we will review your situation to accommodate for it. Forgetting to update your diary in time is unfortunately not a valid excuse. We recommend setting a reminder on your phone for diary updates. Diary Update Contents Please include all details of your grow In each update please include how many days/weeks you are into veg or flower. Please include images of each plant Please document your feeding and pest control regime. Please avoid taking photos where plants are lit up by purple LED light or the heavy orange/yellow spectrum of HPS bulbs. You may take plants outside for photographs in the sun. These rules are subject to amendments in the upcoming days1 point

Pine Tar Kush from Tom Hill was one of the interesting strains I grew out. Ducksfoot as above is also very interesting. This was my bonsai, Mabombe ( Malawi White Russian / Sweet Tooth 3 / Grapefruit / Congo Nepalese ) from Afropips. This bonsai shared a joint over the coffee table with Mr Howard Marks when he was in South Africa.1 point

I will run a full video diary with all the values.. even do the Ph/ppm with a pen for each feeding solution.. as I know Gelatos like my pocket.. I might have a slight advantage. So I post every detail.. and do that every day. As I never did that.. I might learn some myself for this strain. Just, please, i fuckup like all the rest, never grew Tortoni before, just Gelatos from 42FastBuds in Auto and Photo (100+ total) version.. if you run into troubles, use my pictures.. if they are healthy plants.. check the numbers i post, should bring you back on track if needed. The Gelato doesn't like over feeding, will show you this one , very quick. Watch your tips, react with pure water when you see them discolor. Once they flower, you can actually go a bit over the average.. they form very nice and dense flowers (they want light go preferred 1200 micromol).. that needs feeding, increase your flower fertilizer depending on thickness of the buds. Watch those leaves. Is about all input I can give... and yes.. EASY with the youngsters.. they grow fast.. no need to push em. addon don't go over the edge during veg with light or they don't stretch enough. 500 micromol really fits. as soon as you swap light cycle, bring it up in steps! No need to blast 1200 on right away...1 point

Even though it's a comp the vibe of the forum doesn't change. Help a brother out Only a pleasure. A huge thanks is owed to you for allowing this to happen. Without your beans, a fair growoff couldn't and wouldn't happen Let's hope this growoff does good things for Totemic Cannacraft Also a big thanks to all our generous sponsors who jumped on board. I still can't believe the value of this prize pool. The generosity among our community is a trend that keeps pleasantly growing, along with the good ganja.1 point

Thanx man. Yeah my problem with the previous mainline was that I started the training too soon and didn't wait for the plants to recover en get strong enough. This time round it seems like the timing was a lot better. So now there is a solid base for the mains to grow from.1 point

Hi folks. So last night was the final topping for the ladies. Every strain except for the Bubblegum got their 3rd topping. On the bubblegum I just tied down the 4 mains in order to open up the canopy. Real stocky little plant hopefully yield will be on par. So now is the final veg stretch for about 2 to 3 weeks then I will flip to flower. Might still need to train and tie down a couple of mains depending on the speed of recovery. But overall the plants are looking super happy and the nute balance seems to be on par. Palomino Twisted Helix GSC Tortoni #1 Tortoni #2 Bubblegum Tent view1 point

we always start small.. and sooner or later run out of space as long as you are happy with the stretch and grow speed.. those lights are not the best, but also not the worst to use. Work on your climate control before you upgrade your lights. The good thing on the one you have is the build in cooling.. you can use the fan just to bring air to your plants. If you battle with temp.. last you want to do is add more light wattage.. just increases your problem. When you add things step by step, you should end with a rather well balanced system.1 point

As much as I'd love to join, I am nowhere near ready for that, and or have the space for the plants. I will promise now though, next round, you will have to hold me back from entering, as I'll be the first to sign up with such eagerness.1 point

Hi folks. So just over a month and a bit into Veg and the ladies are looking stellar. All the clones rooted which I am very happy about! I transplanted a couple today for my clone run with the mothers and the rest given to mates to keep as mothers or to grow and flower them out. Tomorrow will be the second topping for the mainline exercise and Tortoni #2 will get her first topping but I will try and prep her for the second topping in a couple of days. The genetics by @Totemic are really showing their muster and are champs with the high stress training and vigorous root development with the clones. Twisted Helix also seems to be rocking along very nicely with strong growth. GSC Twisted Helix Palomino Tortoni #1 Bubblegum Tortoni #2 Totemic Clones Tent Tent with clones1 point
