Beans transferred into cotton pads after a 24h soak Placed the container with the beans in a humidity dome which is sitting on a heat pad. Will keep watching for taproots. Once the taproots appear the beans will go into pots10 points

Little late but here we go , put seeds in water in clone area 23 hr's ago Temps roughly at 24 degrees 24/7, might dip to 21 degrees for 2hr's when lights go of . I see a taproot root popping, can you spot it ? Will update later how and in what medium il start it of with. I do have extra Tortoni seeds that's why there are 4 . All going well inside. As soon as we confirm the Russian fuel females are pollinated and see seeds forming we will kill the males. Having a future supply of pure auto males is the main goal. We have enough regular auto pollen stored to pollinate alot more girls if we wanted to. This grow cycle is simply seed prep for October. We Will start reversing females as soon as the males go and we clean every inch of growing space. Traded the Dark Horse packs for Cinderella Jack Autos from Dutch passion and Strawberry Cheesecakes autos from seedsman. With mother plants like cinderella jack capable of 25% THC crossed with Russian fuel at 18% we should produce really solid hybrids. Thats pollen all over the leaves.6 points

I guess we will have to see if I'm able to improve on the 2 lines instead of just straight pollen chucking and hoping to hit the lottery. At this early stage of the game, I'm probably firmly in the pollen chucking category. I do have a goal though. If I achieve that goal over the course of the next few years, then I will consider myself a very novice breeder. Right now, I'm just hoping for a handful of viable seeds. Then the pheno hunt begins for a mother. Then we can have some fun with stash and dash clone hunts. I've already pictured it all in a brain movie6 points

We don't breed. This is just a cool project. Something I've wanted to do for the last 2 years. Clones and seeds will be given away freely, and then we see where it takes us.6 points

Hi Everyone, just thought this was interesting... A female cannabis flower generally has two pistils that include the reproductive anatomy: the ovary, style, and stigmas. The ovary, where a seed develops once fertilized, is at the very base of the pistil. The stigmas are covered with sticky hair-like structures, called stigmatic papillae, that capture pollen and transport it down the pollen tube, through the stigmas and style and into the ovary. The style is at the base of each stigma and separates the stigmas from the ovary. The style can be identified separately from the stigmas due to the absence of papillae. However, as the female cannabis flower is kept from being fertilized in the cultivation of cannabis, the papillae will grow on the style in an attempt to increase the plant’s ability to capture pollen. Cannabis pistils are whitish-yellow when fertile and orange to red when no longer fertile. Some unique cultivars have pink pistils. Pistils also vary in robustness along the broad to narrow leaf spectrum. (Credit: Expansion of female sex organs in response to prolonged virginity in Cannabis sativa)5 points

All 3 successfully germed and now in pots. They're in a 1.5m x 1.5 veg tent - under a 400w MH. I'm old school but envy those lovely LED's you all have going As mentioned the soil for the seedlings is a very simple straight forward mix of equal parts EWC, Coco and perlite (being mixed in the pic below). I added about half a teaspoon of myco to that. I'm sourcing my EWC (earth worm castings) from a local supplier called Davley Organics. Organics Matter used to be my go to supplier for EWC but he moved to PTA sometime in 2019. Wasn't happy about that. I managed to find a supplier in my area today selling 125L bags of perlite for 250 bucks. KAK CHEAP! The beans are joining 2 other @Totemic strains in my veg tent at the moment. A Cherry Gelato CBD Fem and Choc Gelato Fem which will go into flower soon and free up some more space. I intend to start a separate thread on these 2 strains to update on their progress. They're in good shape. Will update again once the seedlings break ground5 points

Shit man. You literally had the most perfect environmental conditions for solid and quick germination. Really really impressive man, well done and I hope you wake up to a smiling *insert name here* 3rd Tortoni that germinated.5 points

And as they see the light, I post the first light setup. The pots are NOT under the light directly, just beside the light. Light is a 288 QB running on 118 watts, 301H 3000k 660nm Light distance is 96cm over the pot. Measured under the dome.5 points

Good luck bro, from my experience with other species. I can tell you that its a long road and failures are inevitable. Maybe we need a novice plant improver thread where anyone can showcase their positive outcomes and failures. A place to ask questions and opinion with the goal of getting more people trying their hand. @Golden-Goose sorry to jack your thread. Good luck bro! I'll be watching your progress closely.4 points

a little late to the party, veg - 1 x 1 x 1.8 - everything on ratchet ropes and caribeaners, ropes get tucked, only hanging wire is the temp/rh sensor. flower - 1 x 1 x 2 - same situation. outside the tents - got a thermometer and a small RH monitor sitting outside for ease of mind. dealing with some high RH as the night time sets in and the fog pulls over. been having a few misty evenings and mornings lately. doesn't phase me, got a 150cm inline running on low, all I need to do is turn the dial wire situation - not as neat as it can be, but I feel I am changing too much every now and then to put all the wires in one loom and all that. First pic is on the wall, few other things running off the first multiplug. second - multiplug in bottom corner runs from analog timer on the wall. everything on that multiplug runs on the timer. multiplug furthest away has the timer for flower tent aswell as all the fans and shit.4 points

Week 14. Yep, missed a week battening down the hatches at the nursery before that little storm last week. Made a quick makeshift cover and that helped keeping the ladies dry. There was one casualty considering the thin stems and height they standing at. 650mm on average from soil. I'm gonna have to stake them I thinks. Nice sweet aromas and sticky as hell.4 points

I fucken hate it.... It's the worst ever... I ran out of pucks from a recent cutting spree I thought I had a few left but I couldn't find them... So I paper toweled it and it's been so troublesome... So far 2 of the 3 have popped, and are in the main tote, while the 3rd one will soak again until tomorrow morning where I will plant it... Hopefully it's cracked By then3 points

After a good 24h soak in ExploGrow, the seeds will be ontkiemed in TerraAqua soil from those other guys. DIY LED light to sprout and veg first few weeks, it's a old MarsHydro300 that I slapped 2x Vero29 cobs on. Total draw is 95watt. My grow will be organic, I've moved off the chems directly after our last grow off. Never felt the need for them again. Can't wait to drop a light FRB feed in a day or two. And then will spray some daggaleaf ferment on the second set of leaves. *no water added to soil as yet, feels moist enough.3 points

Got home to my fan and controller. It's very light and can barely hear it. The Bluetooth app is also cool and you can adjust the settings pretty easy.3 points

i have no dimmer. they run 100% .. is the veg tent.. the light doesn't goes to waste reason.. 96cm distance. 250 micromol isn't much but for germination it hovers around the sweet spot. should also add.. 2 boards on one driver.. the other board is a lot lower I let them always run 100%. Have the Quantum Flux over as the buddy isn't growing right now and not in the mood to start.. last Gelato harvest will still hold a bit ^^ So I grabbed the thingy. Usually I have my numbers for each light and stage.. and use the measuring tape.3 points

Plenty of good suggestions above but if you looking to save some bucks consider purchasing from fans.co.za. They're essentially wholesalers and there's a good chance the TD and TD silent will be a lot cheaper than the hydro stores. I don't know how it is nowadays but it certainly used to be that way a few years back. If you interested, just email them for pricing. Courier can be arranged3 points

Robust plants.. bud size and frosting.. nothing to complain about. Super smooth smoke even after 2 weeks of curing. Smaller version clone, week to go, is on flush ^^ flower tent emptying out.. is nice to have space and move inside the tent. Weather.. other issue.. we have super wet in the CT area right now. Tent is at 22.3 degrees and 60% humidity (13.17).. dehumidifier running.. I get the idea to start selling distilled water, i get a lot each day At least it drops to 53% when the lights go on and the dehumidifier gets a rest. Weather change would be nice ^^ but at least no stress to stay below 26 degrees.3 points

If you have identified desired outcomes, and intend combining genetic material to achieve the outcomes you are breeding. Even if it is just to feed your own curiosity. I wish more people would try their hand at plant improvement.3 points

Watering is no easy task... you see how often people overwater. Giving the task to a machine... ehhh will run.. but if you dont check each day anyhow, troubles will come up. So why not just let the pump run 24/7? Way easier to predict what will happen.3 points

Nice, although I must admit... felt a bit dirt reading the title of this thread. lol Was wondering what it has to do with cannabis while reading it It makes sense to help keep the species alive, find ways to maximize fertilization to increase survival.2 points

Zephyr just give you the controller which comes with the fan, although it still has a lot of functionality - view RH, temp, adjust between the 10 fan speeds, set the fan to operate in a certain way based on the temp, RH etc. etc. I have had the misfortune or having to make use of the AC Infinity warranty and Zephyr farms were pretty decent and it's a lot easier dealing with them compared to having to ship the item to the US to get a replacement. Not sure Zephyr farms will provide support for a product purchased from Amazon and not them.2 points

I got a Ram fan in Jan (not the adjustable one) but it's too loud for me so getting rid of it. I ordered the AC INFINITY S6 from Amazon with controller and ducting and it's cost R3420 with shipping and customs (which arrived today) I was quoted R3200 for the just the fan from Zephyr. Ordered the 25th April2 points

Not sure if it will suit you but I’ve used the Autopot system with the Air Dome successfully. Once running you can leave it for ages, depending on the res size. I’ve done 5 days on a 50l res. It’s main drawback is that the res feeds all pots the same nute mix so if you have newer plants or some that veg later (I’m talking about auto’s now) then it becomes a bit of a hack. Probably ideal for clones from the same mother. I’ll get there eventually. Here you can see my 9 pot auto pot system with water and air lines run. I’ve raised the pots on crates because my knees don’t bend so good anymore LOL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

The TD Silent models, high speed, you sleep in the room next to the room with a tent in, you wont even know.2 points

Blumat is fantastic as its a manual system (no electronics) and will water only when the medium dries out and you can adjust how dry the medium needs to be before it starts to water.2 points
-
If you can afford it I recommend AC Infinity. They have an external controller with multiple speeds and a probe for temp and humidity control. The new ones have Bluetooth connectivity plus a feature which I dearly miss on my older ones, which is the ability to set a “base” speed, so even when temp and humidity are within the set limits, it still ticks along, sucking new air in. With the older ones like mine, if your lung room is stable and your tent is stable within your limits set, the AC infinity will remain off (0 fan speed) which isn’t really great for air turn over. I use td 500 and very happy with those... 3100 a piece, very silent, 3 speed setups (added later: on medium it draws 41 watts) Addon I still have 3 150mm metal inliners.. R800 a piece, scratch free ran for 6 months. If somebody is interested, please send me a private message.2 points
