Righty ho. Roots have appeared on #1 & #3 so I think it's soil time. Some of you that have been monitoring my progress since I started growing a year ago will have noticed I have a different light now. A few weeks back when everyone was scrambling to get their beans before the cut off date there was a lot of goodwill and offers of help going about. Was actually a good feeling watching people willing to help strangers. A few of you reached out to help me pay the entrance fee. Thanks to you all for the offer. Then a local guy I support soil wise gave me soil towards the grow, how he found out I don't know. So a big thank you to Jou Ma se Soil although I changed to Just Cannabis at the 11th hour. And the generosity didn't stop there. @Light It Up reached out and asked if I had a decent light and offered me a 240w QB for the duration of the grow. No strings attached, put it back in the box and return to sender after the grow off. Or purchase it if I wanted to. Speechless. I've already quit the pub and smoking next. You know where this is going. Big shout out again to the above, the forum, @Totemic and the sponsor's for such a great opportunity.8 points

Effect wise, Chocolate Gelato, while a whole lot more indica than most Gelato strains, still has a clear, uplifting high, with minimal body stone. Palomino is very indica dominant and more an evening type smoke, with a relaxing high, and a medicated body effect. Tortoni is also indica dominant, with an uplifting, creative high, with virtually no body stone Gelato CBD effects are going to vary, but it's an interesting mild high/not quite high. Really just calming and anxiety reducing.6 points

Week 15. And Mother Nature put @Totemic's genetics to the test again last night. I've experienced bud rot first hand now and gobsmacked at how fast it happens. Rained all day yesterday and I was on toddler duty and could not get to move plants. Then a burst mains in the sky above our nursery only got fixed this morning. Everything is drenched but a few happy farmers walking about. Lost a few good buds and had to chop 3 plants, stake a few of the heavier ones and moved them to my little work area in the yard. After this mornings clean up and inspection I think we all gonna have to wait another week. Photos are in no particular order. PS. I'm walking around smelling like a orange'y then berry biscuit and everything I touch is sticking to my fingers. That doesn't make sense, my fingers are sticking to everything I touch.4 points

That one bottom right pheno I actually an outlier... Different leaf shape, smell, structure is all off so it's going to be interesting. So far, it's actually the back 4 males and back 4 females that are expressing the phenotype I'm interested in.3 points
-
Yeah preflowers are easily distinguishable as male or female at 31 days from seed. This is a seed run to get me to the F2s, where the real pheno hunting begins. This is a stable F1 generation, but the F2 generation may or may not present with unfavorable traits. Selecting for pest resistance is actually quite low on my selection list. My selection is intuitive, involves look, feel, smell, growth patterns. This male selection on this run will be my 6th consecutive selection on the chocolope NL lineage. I've learnt what my males with that lineage generally pass on to females. Males add a lot more than people generally think.3 points

If I may.. I'd like to mention that the Chockolate Gelato is quite powerfull.. I really enjoy it.. Might be a bit more indica but very uplifting as Totemic said.. It surprized me a bit.. A definate regular in my lineup from now on.. Very unique terp profile.. Just love it..3 points

Yeah his shop is in Somerset West, but the Elemental blend cost about R180 for 10l bag which treats a 100lt of soil. I got mine at a different grow store as I'm not near to his store.3 points
-
don't mind at all brother, I actually need to know that too, although I believe sooner is better so you can get the soil back to life. I would imagine it's got a bunch of microbes and bacteria in it, as soon as you introduce the blend to the used soil you're giving it life again. I think of inoculating microbes aswell that'll assist in breaking down the elements and by the time you're planting you should have nutrients already available to your plant. I will also be making some sugar/starch teas to keep the microbes alive.3 points

I tried both ways to mix it and both were great 1. Old soil he recommends 10-30ml per litre so I just went 50ml and added a cup of worm castings per 25L pot . 2 I used a thind of each , Coco/perlite/spagnum peat moss and as recommended 1L per litre , didn't add castings because I wanted to see if it worked . Only problem I had that the medium was very light and dried out quicker than reused , so watered everyday but just less, roots loved that lightness. I think it works out to R80 a bag then. @The_StonedTrooper @Naughty.Psychonaut Jars just used to transport without damaging them, I have already washed them and the drying out in diy rack with nice air flow and humidity. Thanks for the heads up guys.2 points
-
Please, you cant put that stuff in Jars And you need to wash that before smoking it, and then dry it properly. Dont harm your health, please.2 points
-
nice! bud, tell me, are you gona dry those buds? they should not go into jars right away.2 points

So I have harvested half od the plant, it's weird, one side was perfectly fine with lush green dark leaves and the other had WPM with almost no buds at all. I also found seeds . So I took what's good and cut off the WPM portion and applied 2 WPM solutions. Will monitor as it seems only the top half was affected. This si what I managed to harvest not the biggest but still has alot of glue, right to the point of me having to clean my surgical scissors 4 times.2 points

would a 25L pot at 10-30ml / L not be more around 250 to 750ml? or did you only do 50ml because of the worm castings? I see I can get 10L for R175 at the hydroshop. perfect2 points

Thanks for making this thread @Naughty.Psychonaut. I was wondering the same as I want to reuse this year's soil. Bags are getting too expensive and I accumulated more than 300 liter. As far as I can remember the elemental blend costs around 420 Rand. I think one can either top dress or mix it in (of course before the grow starts). I think of mixing it in, but the question is how long before planting takes place should I do that? Like I.e should I do that now or only in October just before I plant? I hope you don't mind me asking in your thread fellow psychonaut, but I figured it's related to your question. Edit: yeah, his shop is in CBD Somerset West2 points

I agree the elemental blend is great! I used a bag for my 100lt pot and she bounced back great. Jamie is in Cape Town, but there's a few stores that sell the Elemental Blend.2 points

A product that works great for reammending is that Elemental Blend from Dirty hands , Jamie garden shop. Sent from my Hisense Infinity H50 using Tapatalk2 points

And the Update for the 16th May / also first feed 20ml from a 1ml Grow (for the molasses) and 2ml Bio Heaven Mix Video from the 15 May, no more dome on2 points

sadly I would have to agree with the okes, you'll be fighting a loosing battle with that bitch if you in CPT area I can hook you up with a clone for free. you got something brewing indoors? or outdoor growing only? if outdoors I will wait till Sept to give you the clone. now is no good for starting outdoors.2 points
-
Shortest day is around 21 June, from then on the days get longer, the plant will soon go back into veg. Someone help you out with a new clone, seed, or arrange one, and plant it outside in 3 to 4 months time, then keep your IPM on point. Always easier to prevent, than to cure.2 points

I say cut it all down, to much WPM and bud rot, to far gone and not enough bud development yet, wasting time now unfortunately.2 points

Hi Stefan, are you sure it's a deficiency? First thing that comes to mind is bite marks from either fungus gnats, thrips or mites. Did you check the underside of the leaves?1 point
-
White dots, could be spider mites, have you seen any webs? The new growth, is that effected at all? Your old growth will not get better, and if the new growth is okay, then you okay. Let us know1 point

So I decided to put in the Headbanger from @Dr. Greenin she's in some Atami Cocos with added perlite. This is going to be a sour one!1 point

I agree with you, in my business i have a no drug (including weed) policy, ironic since im a farmer but as you said some positions require a sober mind, but i know my employees come to work blazed and i don't say or do anything because its during off hours however i know some places that would still get you fired...sadly1 point

For more reduced space in the medium. All depends on how you grow obviously, fabric pots being breathable allow for too much oxidation. Living soils do better when they are bordering drenched.1 point

Oneday after topping them. They look like super strong and needs to be potted up. But needs to be sexed first.1 point

Ok so I planted the seeds into a small tray. Soil used is Freedom Farms Fine Gremination Mix. Thanks to @GreenGrow Garden Route Seeds all sunk to the bottom. Planted about 1cm deep. Popped the tray into my humidity dome for some extra heat. Seeds may take a day or 2 longer to germinate as it is quite cold. Will get the heat mat going again this afternoon.1 point
