  1. This is the issue though. Over the years there have been a few strains which have become very popular which lead to a lot of breeders trying to have the same strain. So they take the parents and chuck some pollen to be able to claim it as the "same strain" but in actual fact it is not as the original cuts were not the same. Let's use an example, let's say you have a very special pheno of a strain called ABC and you decide to cross it with a strain to Fire OG and you decide to call this new cross Alphabet OG and it does really well and is a huge hit. Everybody wants it! Now strain ABC and Fire OG have been released to the public, so the seeds are available to pretty much anyone... But not everyone is able to get the exact pheno of ABC and Fire OG which you used... However due to the popularity other breeders will simply take any cut of ABC and Fire OG and cross it to be able to claim to have Alphabet OG... Which is not the case as it is not the original parent plants, despite the parents being from the same strains. This is why knowing your breeders and who released what and being able to trust them is soo important and why a lot of the bulk EU seeds are in essence expensive jut. Purple Punch is not Purple Punch - just because it has the same name does not mean what you grow will be the same. Purple punch from breeder X could be amazing! Purple punch from breeder Z could be complete utter shit. Then on the other hand, you get people who are even more scaly and try release counterfeit seeds - I believe this happened recently with In House Genetics and their Pancake lines. There were some lines which had not yet been released, but somehow there were seeds being sold in the IHG packaging claiming to be those unreleased strains. So where you source your seeds from is also very important! One needs to also keep in mind the variance with phenotypes and some breeders typically just have a high morphology due to the way they breed and release their strains. So the picture for the strain looks superb, you grow out a 10 pack of seeds and end up with no plants which look remotely like what they advertise picture wise. Other breeders you have a much higher chance of getting the pheno which is what was being advertised in the picture from a pack of 10 seeds... So to sum it up, end of the day - get to know your breeders and stick to the trusted ones and you will end up growing a lot more

  6. My setup still needs a lot of work but I have a good 150k invested so far. a good 200k still coming with a total insulation job and the solar installation. I swapped from spending money on my car.. to blowing it into my grow room. Now I drive a electric Scooter, solar charged can't afford the car anymore.. is parked for over a year hehehe And just to mention.. to whom not seeing it.. Tarryn is to wet. me fucked up.. reason she falls behind. but if you are a average grower.. you need your setup to help you but shows very good how overwatering is hindering grow speed.

  7. Happy belated birthday @Stinger96! Hope you had a good one. OK, no theme anymore. I am glad I don't have to climb Helderberg, lol. Instead here's a flower from my first indoor run on South African soil. Zurple Punch it is. Thanks to the clone donor and to the one who gave me the grow equipment for a while. You know who you are ;).

  9. This is the one thing about Totemic's beans.. Always 90-100% germ rate.. And on the regulars always above average fems.. And then to top it off, excellent terpene profiles and a kick to boot.. It won't be long before my whole line up will only consist of his genes.. Not sucking ass or anything just speaking truth..

  10. Either it's a crazy coincidence (which I highly doubt), or this "breeder" most likely came across you on Instagram and found inspiration for the shitty random bulk seeds they bought and are now reselling. They honestly could be labelling random genetics as chocolate gelato. The similarities are far too obvious... you describe the line as "carrying a sweet, fruity aroma on a subtle spiciness" and they describe it as "Sweet, Fruity, Spicy". The lineage listed is of course exactly the same as well. They look to be new on the scene, judging by their google reviews (probably fake), but are establishing themselves quite quickly by the looks of it. I get your vibe of wanting to let these guys do what they do but you don't want it to get to a point where people are wondering whether you are the counterfeiter. Maybe setting the record straight in a IG post, which you can refer people back to, might help to just make sure you get ahead of the shitstorm that may brew. Just a thought

  12. Week 2 - Day 11(18/05/2021) Transplant day. Ive transplant 2 of the ladies into larger pots. They are too small for the 20L pots yet, so ive used some plastic pots i had lying around. Ive washed the coco with hydrogen peroxide before transplanting. The 3rd lady was placed in a 20L DWC setup. Due to loadshedding concerns i chose not to go the hybrid aero/fog/dwc route for now. Now that the second set of leaves have appeared, i feel comfortable feeding nutes. As suggested by @CreX, I've also added enviroc biodyne to all plants. This is the first time I have used enviroc and im definitely keen to see how the ladies respond. Lastly I've added some diatomaceous earth after watering to help with pest control. For the first lady, Ive watered her with EHG Nutes at 0.4 EC and 6.1PH. The second lady was watered with Hortimix nutes at 0.4 EC and 6.1PH. The DWC contains Hortimix nutes at 0.4 EC and 6.1PH. Ive also pre prepared the 20L Freedom fabric pots with coco and cover crop so that the cover crop will have already been grown, once they Tortinis are ready for transplant. They have been coming along fine so far. The pre prep was started on 10/05/2021 and cover crop used is marigold and dill.

  17. Ja, but I just hate the drama... And insta just overflows with it... My long term goals for my lines are not just to get into home grows... From next spring totemic is filling a few fields, and a few greenhouses. The brand is here to serve the local market, and an international (probably dropshipping) pop-up seedbank isn't going to damage that

  18. I checked 3 LUX apps with different light configuarations and different diodes. Over 500 micromol PAR the readings were up to 20% off. If you are in CT, can check to come by and we measure your app with your own lights and a sq500... those numbers make more sense to trust. ts3000 and a 600 watt bar lamp had very different readings for flower distance.

  21. Look, anyone can take the same genetic lineage and recreate my strains... But it won't be my selections and choices I made through the years... I'm also fully aware that once I've released something it isn't just mine anymore... I wish them well... If you building a business on lies it ain't going to last

  22. Where there's business, there's politics. We all know who to support and who to abort, hopefully... This whole community is 100% behind you @Totemic and we know that you are running an ethical business model. There will always be rats trying to copy the hard work of others and claim it as their own. Fuck 'em. Flybys. That is why the power of social media is so amazing. Numbties like this should be exploited and be made aware of consequences. Get up, stand up. Stand up for your rights!

  25. @420SA, yeah I know and the 1st price looks awesome this month. That being said I grew out one of the the Bodhi seeds I won and it's a keeper. I wish there would be more Bodhi strains around. I took some clones already and gave them back to the community. Edit: LOL, now my stoned butt has understood. I was under the impression that I can only win the 1st price once within 12 months, but I thought I can still make it 2nd or 3rd. In this case @The_StonedTrooperis right. It's meant as an inspiration

  28. This is due to the spectrum of HPS being perfect for flowering. The drawback will be that in a tent such as yours, you would get terrible light spread with a SE 600W HPS compared to the spread you get with 600W total worth of LEDs. Extra: Those guys who claim better anything using HPS are also most likely making use of DE 1000W HPS, and are also Gavita fan boys

  30. Well, it depends on how efficiently (lol) a heater converts electricity into heat. With a HID light or a bar heater, a bit difficult to control the temperature. The bar heater one can at least hook it up to a temp sensor with a relay of sorts to turn off once it reaches a certain temp. I quite like those cheap 2KW fan heater with a coil inside. They have a built in thermostat. When one of those are inside the tent, as the tent is such a small space it heats up in less than a minute and then turns off and only turns on when the temp drops. I have never needed to compare the efficiency between an HID light, bar heater and fan heater. Although HID light would mean lower temps when the light turns off and no way for you to change that without a heater. Also to put HID vs LED efficiency into perspective. 240W LED will give around 475umol of usable light 600W of these LED would give around 1188umol of usable light. 600W HPS (SE) would give around 777umol of usable light in comparison. So 411 umol less which is almost an additional 240W LED light worth of output... It is a significant difference. That is working on an LED light having a usable umol/w of 1.98 and some quantum boards may be higher. So to get the same output as a 600W Single Ended HPS light, you'd need 392W of LED. So a saving of 208W.

  31. I would go with 2.5, selected 3 as all three were alive and kickin ^^ one (sinker) was 48 hours behind the others, lost 12 hours to pop and the 48 hours to breaking the surface. I would have grown it to finish, IF ^^ this wouldn't be a competition. Genetics count Seeds were fresh and the 2 Ladies going are more or less on track with the usual Gelatos I grow. 2 weeks done tomorrow since dropping in a glass and the first 5 finger is growing. Happy chap so far with the seeds.

  35. It is sad that low lifes try this type of thing. It could be spun as a kind of a off kilter compliment as they'll only copy from the best. But it still doesn't mean its a good thing. At least we know where to get the genuine article. @Totemic My opinion.... May their nuts become infested with spidermites and their fingers turn to minora blades and fish hooks.

  36. That's my point... Who knows what they selling... They sure didn't get the seeds from me. Chocolope NL was released for the first Growoff at F4. Yeah I gave out quite a few to everybody, but it was never commercially available except a few fems, and will only be available for the first time commercially on the F5 generation I'm working on. Chocolate Gelato... Man she's brand brand new..I never released F1s only released her Nov last year on F2. So ja... Who knows what they selling

  38. Soil I have used and tried FF Premium classic green bag - best of all with no feeds first 4-6 weeks of veg then needs feeding from there , either teas or Biobiss . Second grow needs to be ammended . Orgasoilux - from start to finish was good and just fed some microbes and a flower boost weekly. FF Custom crafted Super Soil - This is the shit man , FF advises water with a 5,5-6ph and I achieve that by adding 1ml/L of the FF Probiotic and once a week it gets 3-5ml/L , in flower it's the same as above with the FF Fire Juice once a week , and that's it of you go. Very consistent outcome , and have grown second grows in the same soil with teas and FF Microlife . Just Cannabis - this one is last on my list , it's just not consistent as the other 2. Usually il take all old soil and chuck them in a big 250L drum and add Elemental Blend from Dirtyhands.inc( Jamie's Garden Shop ) and mix as advised, or more , and let it sit for a few weeks. No problems with this way also. Using soil again depends on how big the plant in there was and how much nutrients is left at the end of a grow . When using a 15L pot that has a plant in that will yield 60-90g it's depleted mostly and il do the high end ammendmend with the Elemental Blend. Sent from my Hisense Infinity H50 using Tapatalk
