I struggle to grasp the idea that Seedbanks would refund you for seed that didn't germinate. Why should they? Their side of the deal was complete when you received your order nicely packaged and in good time. The germination process is completely out of their control, how can they be responsible? The cannabis industry is the ONLY instance I've come across where people expect refunds for seeds that didn't germinate under their own conditions. There is no way to look at a healthy potentially viable seed to determine it isn't going to germinate. Seedbank: I'm sending this potential failure to Hardcoregrowerman011 just to fuck with him. Ya, I'll show him. I've said it before on this forum, buying seed is a gamble you take. Suppliers cannot guarantee the outcomes, in fact nothing is guaranteed. The way to get the exact same outcome is to use clones. The CPA... Lol! you are joking, right?6 points

Day 17 Seeing as I haven't yet given a breakdown of my setup..... It's a fairly straight forward setup with some gear that is getting on a bit now. Veg Tent 1.5 x 1.5 GTHydro tent 250w (early veg) 400w(late veg) MH Bulb 8" Extractor Fan (functioning as active exhaust) Flower Tent 1.5 x 1.5 GTHydro tent 400w(early flower) 600w(late flower) HPS Bulb.... or possibly 2 x 400w HPS throughout 6" Extractor Fan (functioning as passive intake) 40cm Wall Mounted Fan ---------------------------------------------------------- The pic below illustrates how the ventilation process works. The 8" inline fan in the veg tent is exhausting out the tent through a window behind the tent. The 6" inline fan in the flower tent is bringing air into the tent from a different window behind that tent. The tents are then linked with an 8" duct indicated below in the pic. Fortunately, as these tents are two different models, the bottom duct outlets are very close to each other. Keeping the duct short and making it easier for air transfer. When both tents are zipped closed, by pure luck really, a perfect equilibrium is achieved and both tents maintain a steady negative pressure. As the veg tent is sucking air straight from the flower tent, it's ambient temp varies between 1 to 3 degrees higher than the flower tent, when the flower tent's light is on. Which is an added bonus in winter when you want your veg tent to still hold the higher temps.5 points

All 3 are peeking out the soil, checking out their options, one in particular more than the others but all in all looks like it's going to be a 3/3 germination here3 points

An update on the babies. I’ve made a few small changes, nothing drastic. Fan and new light installed, gone with a 240w quantum board, in an effort to save on electricity. Eskom are ruthless. They are probably going to get a dash of something nice tomorrow. Possibly microbes, epic and molasses. Continuing on without fish for now. Humidity is around 70% Temp maintaining between 20-24 Dicondrah planted and waiting to sprout3 points

no bad rep for you at all man! but with coco and synthetic nutes - it would then be exactly opposite to what you said. coco is so light and noncompact, that even fully saturated to the point of runoff it has a substantial amount of oxygen in it. the reason that you are supposed to water till run off in coco, is to eliminate the salt build up. From your previous feed, you put in say 500ppm, but not till run off. now you know your meduim has 500ppm of nutes in it.... there is no way in the world any weed plant is going to consume all 500ppm out of the meduim... might only use 100ppm for example, so now when you water again at 500ppm at your next feed, also not till run off... you can expect the ppm of the meduim to go way higher than 500...and thats why you water till runoff in coco. next thing is when the coco dries out... the water is now less than when you watered it...naturally right? with this info, and the info about the plants not eating everything you give them each feed, what you will find is that the PPM starts to rise withing the water to the point the water can no longer hold all the nutes... and those nutes precipitate out of the water and become a salt again. so when you water till runoff, what you are actually doing is pushing out a lot of the high ppm solution and replacing it with fresh nutes at the right ppm level. this doesnt happen to such a great extent in soil and organic nutes as the nutes need to break down before they are available to the plant. So you are correct in saying you are kinda just pissing nutes away... but you are actually pissing away a high ppm solution which is bad for your plants anyways and then you get fertigation, which is constant feeding...and honestly...i have never seen amazing weed like @PsyCLown has grown in fertigation... i think you think coco and soil are similar...were they are in fact nothing alike.3 points

Hi everyone just a quick update: My last seed also popped last Sunday but it seems to me she is struggling, hope she will be ok, other one also a slow grower but the Giraffe is doing fine and already planted in her permanent home yesterday, just added some support for the fragile stem and a small "greenhouse" till she is strong. The soil has been flushed with water a week ago and is still moisty, no nutrients or water up to date but believe she will need some water in the next day or two. Happy growing !!3 points

Awesome idea. I print odds and ends. Busy printing signage for my wifes practice. I have attached some of my work. But a great idea to print stuff for our grows if anything is needed. Here are a few pics of things that I have done along with my setup.3 points
-
For one of my grow projects I wanted to exhaust my tent to the outside and also pull outside air in. So I removed the glass window and replaced it with 4mm plexiglass, I chose a cloudy plexiglass that only allows 30% light through. I had the plexiglass lasercut to the ducting diameters and also clearance for my bolts. I then drew up and 3D printed the louvers on the one side and the duct attachments on the other.3 points

The girls are all three now almost the same lenth.. Stretchy.. Nr one still has the best wing span though.. I'll have to heat up the room more.. Currently 56RH and 23C during the day but it drops to 15 and RH OF 70 at night..3 points

Jooooooh this takes me back. I thought I could get away with a 400W HPS in a 80x80 tent when I first started and that also gave me a big hiding. If you are rolling a 600W I'd go as big as 1.2m x 1.2m with maybe an air-cooled hood/tube.2 points

god damn,, good thing I moved away from coco then hahah yeah no, I see I see mr. @CreX and thanks for explaining! as I said at the beginning, it's more a question from my side as an organic grower, hopefully I asked something that might have been a problem for others too my understanding was that when you feed/feed/flush you kinda lean on the flush after the two feeds to get rid of the excess. so here's another question, if you guys don't mind? if you feed 1L at 500ppm and the medium goes to 500ppm (just as an example), does this mean if you water same medium with 5L ppm there are more nutes in the medium or about the same amount? because if it's the same amount I don't see any point in mixing 5L of nutes when 1L will do. that's wastefull. but you're saying giving new nutes pushes out old nutes. how does this work? do they signal to the nutes to make way for new ones? to my understanding, the plant can't make use of all 500ppm, like you said, now the medium dries out and can you imagine what happens with synthetic nutes when they dry up on a surface? this is what salt build up is, well to me. this burns the root, causes lock out. when you feed again with 500ppm you feeding a damaged root, it's not taking up nute, nute stays till soil dries out, forms more salt. and then, I also don't see how 1L of feed/feed/flush can lead to salt build up quicker than 5L of feed/feed/feed? that don't make no sence to your Old Uncle Naughty2 points

And remember that watering pushes out old stale air in the medium and sucks in new fresh air . Sent from my Hisense Infinity H50 using Tapatalk2 points

Just my 2cents When I did 50/50 Coco/perlite that has more drainage than just coco (I think) I fed in veg when needed . I use to let it dry out till leaves was drooping and then feel the weight of the pot and then I knew where it doesnt need to be , def keep pot of the ground for fresh air underneath. When plants got bigger and moving into flower I gave 1 Litre per day feed. When EC got to 1,5-2 I flushed with a EC of 1 properly once a week , like 3 litres and slowly so build up can desolve and gets squeezed out properly. The reason I flushed with a lower EC is I read that in some way you shock the plant with no feeds and then again feed and plant needs to adjust and you loose Abit of time....... Made sense to me at the time. Sent from my Hisense Infinity H50 using Tapatalk2 points

I got the seeds from the Pacific Seed Bank.. like the fake Charlottes Web. Never heard of "black" Pineapple... not sure what they send me for the freebees. Tent doesn't drop below 19, at no time.. interesting plant.. rather skeptical it will have a Pineapple smoking flavor Also very Sativa oriented.. the other "Pineapple Express" are not. I take that Seed Bank off my list for sure.. Canadian.2 points

Thank you all for the helpful advice and discussion. From here on, this is what I'll be doing: 1. Lifting the pot off the ground so that it doesn't sit in any runoff. 2. Reduce the amount that I water to 4L at a time. 3. Gauging whether to water or not by lifting the pot and weighing it + using the first few cm of my finger to check if the top layer of soil is dry 4. Would you guys recommend watering with plain pH'd water every 2nd or 3rd feed? From the sounds of things, this is a good idea to prevent salt/nutrient build up around the roots. I've never done this and my plants never showed any signs of stress that could be related to salt buildup, by my standards at least. That may be true but it might not have been optimal even if there were no signs of stress and I don't want my plants to be acceptable, I want them to be exceptional, which is why I'm talking to people who know better than me Also, would it be okay to update this thread in a couple weeks, after we can see some potential changes? I don't know if I need to go to a different section or something.2 points

Is not a good idea to let the pot stand in run off for over 5 hours. Empty and clean the tray if needed. Lifting the pot will tell you if you need to feed.. no guessing, what is the really helpful part When you can talk "plant" and can ask her if she needs water.. best way.. but if you do not let the root dry up in regular intervals, they become weaker and your plant more stressed. You have to fear overwatering.. it takes a really dry pot to let them hang their leaves.. but just 10 mins after watering, they will be back to normal. If you swamped your roots.. that will take a lot longer to fix, days to weeks. Fear overwatering not underwatering. Addon I give my 22L fabric pots 2L per feeding. Usually takes 2 days till they need again.2 points

All 3 little guys sank so this morning I dipped them in 401 and put them into peat pellets. I set put my 3D printer's heated bed on to 30deg and put my dome on top, hoping to get a temp of +/-25-27deg in the dome, so I'll adjust every now and then as needed.2 points

Had some white spots on leaves, busy getting rid of a spider mite issue , and sprays a light neem spray . The white spots turned yellow and that's all good . Had a stretch also and tide them to a sosatie stick and they getting stronger after 5days . They are under a 150 Samsung LED light . Only fed water and that soil works well according to me . All in all a good week for the girls , temps rage is 17-27 depends on outside air that gets sucked in . Upload keeps failing with pics , will keep trying Sent from my Hisense Infinity H50 using Tapatalk1 point

I always thought if you're in coco/perlite, you flush with clean water and once you're no longer running off, you'd feed with a weaker mix1 point

I cannot stand these flimsy nets Hand made scrog net @CreXstyle is this weekends project lol1 point

correct... in any meduim, you should not flush with clean water unless there is a huge problem. in soil you can use clean water because the soil has organic material in it that can break down and feed the plant again. in coco, you will just wash everything out and leave the plant hungry AF... you dont have to flush with a lower ec than your standard feed.... if your standard feed is 1.0 ec... then you should flush with 1.0EC too1 point

im also skeptical that a dark plant will express that flavour.. purples and reds and blacks... they all have a distinct flavour in them, and nne of them are pineapply... the plant sure looks cool though1 point

just a question from a organic grower here, would he not be at risk for salt build up aswell? remember, the 5L he gives is feeding. the plant would not be able to use that much nutes and some would be left in the medium bu the time he gives again. and to my knowledge, watering till runoff with feed just means there are nutes being pissed away? so by overwatering, in any case synthetic or organic, risks are oxygen deprevation nutrient build up AND you pay for nutes you just pissing away? I don't see why we would just help the oak to understand that your roots should almost never be saturated. if it spends few hours of a day saturated it's fine, because it's drinking up some of that water. I would say, keeping it saturated over 12hrs would be testing the limits. I agree with this 100% only time to it's OK to see runoff with synthetic nutes is when you flush with clean ph'd water, to reduce the chances of salt build up? also, when you give clean water and in few days plat looks hungry, easier to feed. than to over feed the whole time then have to deal with a lock out issue.1 point

@Noob1903if your 12L can do this size room, I say go for it, and please report back. I try to keep my room RH low, but not managing to break 50 on a good day, unless a freak occurrence in weather. Not knocking your opinion at all Crex I'd love to find a way too while late in flower that I dont have to bud wash.1 point

Update: Day 12 of veg Theme of the week: DIY I planted the jiffies into coco/perlite on Saturday morning. My small fabric pots are a bit too shallow so I've opted to use polystyrene cups for now (fancy right?). I'll move to 4l fabric pots once they outgrow the cups. The seedlings got a bit leggy before I moved them into the veg tent. So I've added supports using wooden teaspoons and some wool (more fancy!) Growth is pretty good at the moment. I'm watering with a 30% strength fertilizer mix and slowly working up to full veg strength. Lights are about 50cm above the plants and somewhere around 50% strength. I'm increasing brightness a bit every few days. I'l considering lowering the lights a bit once I'm at 100% and the plants still look happy. I've quite creatively named the plants T1, T2 and T3 T1 T2 T3 So far so good :)1 point

I've never heard of this salesman before. In fact, I have been growing marijuana for a long time, and I know many sellers. One of my favorite sellers of marijuana seeds is Seedsman. Many people know this store, it is considered one of the best legal seed stores in the world. Now on sfweekly.com, the Seedsman discount coupon code you can use when buying and getting a discount. I thus received a significant discount when purchasing seeds. By the way, my garden is quite large. Sometimes I even sell marijuana to friends. Of course, first of all, I grow it for myself.1 point
