Week 1 Update / Germination Week Day 01 - Dropped seeds into RO water to start germination Day 02 - Dipped seeds in Environoc401 and put them into peat pellets. Put the 3 pellets into a humidity dome and placed on top of a heated bed Day 05 - Girls broke the surface Day 06 - For the 2 girls going into hydro: potted my current grow into soil and cleaned out my system and filled with RO water and added 0.5ml/L TA micro, grow and bloom, 1ml/L of Environoc 401 and 1tsp Mycoroot. PH'ed to 5.8 and EC 0.4. Placed the 2 pellets into net pots with clay pebbles. Thought I'd get the bio life going while I'm waiting for the roots to drop. For the girl going organic: potted the peat pellet into Freedom Farm soil (green bag). Added 1tsp Mycoroot to the bottom of the hole.4 points

@Pantshello, thanks for the comments. Humidity has been up to 80%, while it rains and I haven't watered these seedlings since transplant (about 10 days). That layer of fungi eventually forms a crust on top of the pot. The roots pull up and grow directly underneath the crust. @Naughty.Psychonauthi, thanks for the reply. Chlorine is an essential nutrient for plants, they need it in tiny amounts. There simply isn't enough chlorine in tap water, to do any harm to the soil life. These filaments start growing when I top dress with malted barley. From what I understand, the barley contains over 100 strains of beneficial fungi aswell as enzymes to support plant growth and suppress the harmful stuff like pythium.3 points

Outdoor being how / where it has been grown. Also it will vary a lot from grower to grower. My friends and I only smoke indoor... because we only grow indoor. The only time I would smoke some outdoor is if someone gifts it to me and this actually happened this weekend, got some outdoor from a friend - it's pretty good stuff actually. If you were to ask people what strain(s) they are smoking, you'll likely have multiple answers from many people as we all like variety and tend to grow multiple strains. I have my stash of bud which consists of multiple strains, so when the grinder is empty I decide what to smoke next and I keep changing it up to keep things fresh - I still have strains I have harvested but not tried myself yet so those will likely be on my list of smoke for the next while.3 points

So we 13/14 days old now, 3 weeks gone. The girls are doing good, I seem to have been under-watering them. Obviously trying to stay on the side of caution, but since Thursday, I’ve been giving it a good go. Watering around the base and interior area to give a good saturation as I had installed the blumat soaker hose yesterday. Small bit of inner veinal yellowing seems to continue on so I have given 1ml per L fish hydrolysate which actually dosage calls for 5-10ml per Litre, I have been using it wrong this whole time, but I doubt I’ll be going over 1ml, that’s madness. I fed on Thursday, and they seemed to really enjoy it. They soil must be quite depleted on N, which is not a good thing at all. Will navigate as best I can. 5 weeks to go3 points

First of all thanks a lot to Motherland Genetics for their good customer service! My order took longer than usual and they compensated by throwing in 2 free seed packs! Stoked The strains: *BLACKCHERRY ICE CREAM (Motherland Genetics) *BUSH CAKE (Bush Hermit) Does anyone have any experience with these strains?2 points

Wrt the Magneto, yep I'm pretty much just hoping to avoid stressing them into early flower. I don't know if that's a thing, I know Prom says you can do whatever to them, ..but I'm just playing it safe. Been happening too much.2 points

Oh man, how have I not seen this drip tape before. I need to get me some! I see the blusoak is being replaced by rootsoak (their v2.0 basically). Might as well get some of that.2 points
-
How did you make that attachment? Looks like a DIY halo dripper of sorts, how well does it work and how did you make it? Keen to maybe do the same for my blumat setup. Importing lights can be cheaper, however make sure you use a reputable manufacturer as it is known that some supply fake diodes and claim them to LM301 diodes and you're actually getting some other diodes which look the same but are not and sometimes do not perform the same. So reviews are important and trusting your supplier is important too. When I say reviews, I do not mean on their website - places like Reddit or Rollitup etc. and preferably from more reputable members or multiple sources even.2 points

Whats up @GGG - i am not sure how clearly the rules are written regarding taking plants outside, but for the duration of this comp, please do not take your ladies into the sun. others are being warned as well. *** going forward from today, penalizations will be imposed on unfollowed rules @All - Everyone ***2 points

now here are some happy seedlings!! well done man!! definitely nailed the germination part of this comp! i think im even going to follow along!2 points

Big apologies. They were in the sun for about 3 hours to try and warm the pots up to dry the soil. Temperature was cold outside so I put them back in the cabinet with a heater fan blowing on the pots. Sent from my LM-X210(G) using Tapatalk2 points

Thanks man! i am hoping others try this method of growing out as i am really enjoying it! at the moment with the single pheno totes... i kinda treat the whole tote as one plant, and that makes growing 30 plants, as easy as growing 52 points

@DamDave as @iGrowDagga has pointed out. Your plants will need to remain indoors and no assistance from outdoors or the sun is allowed. As other competitors have raised concerns over this I ask that you please stick to the rules on this one. Much appreciated2 points

There is a nasty habit to sell grow lights with the wrong diodes declared. They do not use IM301, they use the old version IM281. You can easy spot it on the shape of the diode. The IM301 is a SMD3030 chip class.. what means the diodes are 3.0x3.0 mm in shape.. perfect square. The IM281 are SMD2835 chip class and are 2.8x3.5 mm in shape... check what you get or got. Doesn't matter if IM301 B or H, both same chip class. Not perfect square.. send back and ask for your money back. If they want to sell a IM281 setup.. I would not buy that.. go for the more efficient newer diodes.2 points

And the Pineapple I put a screen over... 10 days after the last pic from the 21 May Is wet, saw a little whitish spot.. Serenade spray. Rest looks good. Light just went out when I was finished with the plants in the flower tent ^^ Will do the same screen setup on the competition plants2 points

Thanks you sir @Naughty.Psychonautfor taking the time to type out what I was too lazy to do myself Folks this G is 100% correct, read what he says and read it again, valuable information. *my comment will be, mold should not really be an issue as ventilation should be hundreds, Pyrol is a rather hardcore element to introduce into a microbiological environment - neem is much kinder. My point is, mold can be prevented by having adequate ventilation in and out your grow area - which would prevent the need for something as hectic as Pyrol.2 points

BioNeem does not harm insects. It changes the composition of the plants enzymes, making the plant "taste bad" to insects. It's said that Neem increases your plants immune system and this helps the plant fend better for themself. the only "bad bugs" you get are the ones eating and breeding on your plants, so they'll be kept at bay, while other insects that are more predators of other insects and don't generally eat your plant are left unaffected. though, I have had a plants brix % tested throughout it's life and the Neem did not increase the % at all, though I am a thorough believer that it works at keeping the bud guys at bay. it's a prominent part of my IPM too. there certainly is a "too much" of a good thing here, though. I have burnt my plants with Neem, might have been too strong dose, but yeah be carefull of changing the compostion of your plant that much that it will be unfavourable to yourself. another noteworthy thing, Neem doesn't work THAAAT great with mold and diseases, in that regard having copper soap on hand will defs help when shit hits the fan. Aswell as having Pyrol on hand, because when you get lasy and don't spot bugs or mold spots right away, you grab the Pyrol. It will work better on infestation or infections. and trust me, don't matter how ontop of your game you are, you gona get hit with infestations. we all do.2 points

So these lady's was switched Monday , almost a week into flower. Mostly just plain water and once a week a FF Probiotic , did FF Fire Juice last 10 days twice and once a dose of Micorrhizae 2 days ago. From here on just Fire Juice and Probiotics once a week. Let's hope that Zurple Punch doesnt stretch to much , can only raise the light another 30cm. Have a lekker week. Sent from my Hisense Infinity H50 using Tapatalk2 points

Update, I harvested a few plants, and put some from room 2 into flower, and potted up the next batch to go out soon. When I'm finished harvest next week, the 2 remaining will go to flower, and then I will plant the seeds for the next run. Starting a grow report and log of sorts. New layout of flowering plants Things are getting a lot more organized, and moving forward. Thank you2 points

Thanks man!!! I'm really trying some new things. Iv been watching the large commercial grows in their large coco beds, and double trellis.. And though how do I do this at home? How do I turn their success... Into my success. So I moved to large totes with multiple plants.... Which worked... But the colas flop over easily and it was a mess... So I added stakes and double trellis per tote... And this is the result... I can't wait for harvest time hahaha The next thing I'm going for, is micro harvests... I have set up the tent on a 10 week cycle, there are 5 totes in my flower tent, which means I harvest a tote every 2 weeks, and then replace it with a tote that's ready for flower. Instead of loading my tent with a full flower set up... And risk running into problems with under developed plants or sickly plants or just issues in general.... Now if I have a problem... I can resolve it easily without being set back 5 months. Down time is now reduced to 2 weeks or a max of 4 weeks2 points

just what ever you decide to spray... please dont spray it on your flowers? there are a bunch of good advices and products to use here... but spraying your flowers should be only a last resort before terminating that flower and starting over. i have heard of a lot of people that neem makes the smoke taste bad or less nice compared to plants that were not treated with neem. Pyrol is not carcenogenic... but best be safer rather than in trouble. and then literally everything else would be a huge nono for flowering plants1 point
-
@Prom ...i would pot them up sooner rather than later... At this rate my ladies may over take yours within this week! It's not a race by any means.... But veg time is precious and I'm not seeing nice new green growth like the last 2 weeks1 point

Week 3 - Day 21(28/05/2021) What a F***ed up day. Spent the day in the tent having a closer look at the plants to make sure theres no other issues. On close inspection, i found some pests eating away at the seedlings. After that i took a look at each and every plant in the grow room and found a variety of issues. All listed below. On all 3 of the Tortini seedlings i found Thrips. On multiple other plants in the Veg grow room i found a combination of Thrips, Fungas Knats and Spider Mites. There was a fair amount of bugs, but not too serious. Ive also been aware of the Fungas Knats and i control them with the sticky fly traps which usually works for me In the flower tent, the situation was much more horrific. In two of my plants in flower i found an entire Spider Mite infestation. NB: The flower tent and veg tent are next to each other. Absolutely frustrated i proceeded to purchase a bottle of Bioneem and diluted 10ml per 1L and took out every single plant from both tents and sprayed them with excessive amounts of the mixture. I also sprayed the tent walls and floor with the mixture. In retrospect i should have calmed down before spraying down my plants. Nonetheless, in my haste, i dropped the EHG-COCO, and tore a bunch of roots. I washed off the roots with plain tap water, then repotted with new coco, added in some mycos, watered with EHG nutes at PH of 6.0 and EC of 0.5 with Biodyne added. Run off was PH 6.1 and EC 0.4. I've now dropped both the EHG-COCO and HORTIMIX-COCO plants in a space of two weeks with both plants having damage to roots. They most probably will be out of the comp but Im too much of a sucker to give up hope on them, so i will include them in all updates as apart of the comp. Plus Im still keen on HORTIMIX vs EHG and i hope others are aswell. I will not be at home for a week, so i wont be able to really have a look at how the plants are doing, but ive got a friend whos going to just pop in and take some pics and water them if required, so ill post those updates. Whilst away i will be researching the most efficient way to get rid of my spider mites infestation. If anyone knows someone that sells lady bug colonies in SA please let me know. Here are the pics:1 point

Lekker, sounds delicious. Love mushrooms, from dinnerplate size congolese browns to portabellini's. Also learning about wild local varieties worth foraging without killing yourself Would be awesome one to grow our own edible shrooms.1 point

Today the seedlings all got topped. I spouted 6 out of 6. I put the between a damp tissue and put the them by the heater. Within 48 hours they all cracked and today I put them into pots of the seedling mix. Choc Gelato, Palomino, Double Sunset and Tortoni.1 point
