Day 1 of 12/12. And we are down to 9. Removed the 4 taller phenos that were back row. They'll flower outdoors. The remaining 9 are +/- 40cm tall, and pushing the 14th node at 7 weeks.7 points

Update on my grow: What is this, day??? It's day 12 since the ladies went into soil. I had a bit of an incident which I hope won't affect the girls too much. Some how the load shedding last night caused my garage door to open and was open all night. The temp in the tent this morning was 11°c. More cold in other words. Here's a few kickies of the ladies this morning. I've started giving them 1/3 of the dose of the Budding Genius nutrients range in an attempt to boost them after the cold incident.6 points

Day 22 Things began to go a little south from Friday last week. The plants started to droop a bit. As overwatering was out of the question I assumed they must've been getting a little root bound so I decided to transplant on Sunday. Suspicions were correct. They were fairly root bound at the bottom of the pot. Nice healthy roots though. The plants were transferred into 20 cm pots with a vegging soil mix. They're starting to look happier tonight. I'm gonna top them tomorrow morning.6 points

Yeah, I would approach these girls differently if I was pushing for max yield, although they'll probably still hit a good yield. To me it's important to illustrate that when you are pheno hunting, it's one thing to saturate a space with as many little plants as possible in tiny pots and push single colas on a stick of a stalk if you are only interested in a floral outcome. To me pheno hunting is more a whole plant experience, with its natural expression fully expressed. Part of breeding is also being ruthless with plant selection. On this run only 2 males are still around, and 9 females, so 11 of the 25 left. Any one or more of these girls could go hermi on me in the next few weeks, or show traits I'm not interested in. I may not even find a keeper this round. I may find a few.4 points

there are no cons... only pros you will need to take at least double the amount of cuttings you think you will need, so that at least the amount you need will A) Root, and B be uniform some may be very eager growers, and some not so eager ones, choose the good growers and toss the rest, and then you will have a ultra uniform grow from a single source cultivar4 points

Slight adjustments made thus the early update. I've tucked some of the top big leaves underneath the bottom leaves, this way the plant doesn't lose any solar panels and still has the ability to get light on the shady areas. Started doing the tuck as plucking a girl naked just doesn't resonate with me. I like my branches full of solar panels, I'll move and tuck em as need be. *check my humidity ranges, gotta love Richards-bay!4 points

So after 3 and a bit weeks I am going to eliminate one of the seedlings. The one in the first pic is going. It is strechy and internodal spaces is double that of the other 2 plants. They will go under one light and in one pot.4 points

oh!! and you gotta invest in a decent sprayer!!! i started like everyone with the R5 hand sprayer that you gotta keep squeezing to get it to spray...nasty nasty sprayers. most stores with a garden section will have either a 1l or 2l or sometimes bigger, pump action pressure sprayer. in my opinion... you need this in your tool kit https://leroymerlin.co.za/sprayer-5l-fragram-with-adjust-nozzel-81455497?sfdr_ptcid=32806_617_621715987&sfdr_hash=dde123ffd47581368350ba565f863cf7&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2NyFBhDoARIsAMtHtZ5jXm6uSbGWavdcm6vxJsD830X7NfzeZ01ihG8Y59HsHSQ2MZ8pYFEaAqg0EALw_wcB https://www.builders.co.za/Garden-%26-Pets/Garden-Hand-Tools/Garden-Spray-Bottles/Garden-Master-Pressure-Sprayer-(2L)/p/000000000000392303?gclid=Cj0KCQjw2NyFBhDoARIsAMtHtZ6bcmBebKFKQYkK4TaDTpMe0NljxlXHg4zmK6zp9EjTsJaCOTVddcIaAp8bEALw_wcB3 points

Greeting to everyone. First off I would like to say a big thanks to 420SA for allowing me access to the group. I am a indoor growing enthusiast from Cape Town South Africa and I've been away from my passion for growing for about 10 years now. It seems that things have really changed allot with regards to this amazing hobby. Especially with regards to lighting. My last grow show had 10 x 600w HPS lights and all the environmental control equipment required for the intense heat that was generated (Aircon, Dehumidifier, CO2). I'm super stoked to catch up on the latest and also hopefully glean some much needed 'catch up' info from you guys. Happy growing and hope to chat to you all pretty soon. Kind Regards HogsBreath021 "Inner peace was found inside my grow room" - HogsBreath.2 points

I take a similar approach to @CreX and do not spray my plants often and not with everything under the sun. I don't really end up with deficiencies and the plants get their nutes via their roots from my feeds. I mostly spray for IPM, however there are a few things I add into the mix occasionally which is meant to help the plants in various ways. It can be a bit difficult and time consuming doing tests to see what actually makes a difference and what does not. Perhaps something I must spend a bit more time doing and looking into though. I agree 100% on the pressure sprayers, one with a wand is even better though and well worth the money!2 points

shot for the thread man! i have a lot to say about foliar regimes, but wont go into too much detail just yet, lets see what the peeps have to say. for me i like to keep it simple, i must admit that my efforts can be somewhat low and spontaneous, for example last night i found some white flies on my one plant, and found the tiniest spot of PM on another plant, so i gave them a spinosad spray and a copper soap spray separately. that should keep my ladies in check for at least a month. i like to add copious amounts of fulvic acids to my sprays and a lil bit of kelpak, i did some research which i cant find now, where there was a control plant, a light sprayed plant and a heavy sprayed plant, they were sprayed with 5 parts fulvic and 1 part kelpak, and the results showed that the plant grew branchier and healthier with fortnightly sprays. but i spray once a month sometimes less, and only with what i think will help my situation. i trust my plants roots and my feeding schedule so that i dont run into deficiencies therefore no need to foliar too often, more so for pest management. i have foliar sprayed with almost every product you can think of, but found that if i K.I.S.S then things seem to go smoother. Humic acids - too many tiny fine particles make it hard to foliar, but i like it more than fulvic to foliar Fulvic Acids - very good as a chelate function and a wetting agent Kelpak - makes roots resistant to nasties and plant generally responds well in loooow doses H2O2 - i found the claimed uses not very useful or effective calmag - only for a deficiency epsom salts - only for deficiency milk - found it is useful for powdery mildew, and the milk seems to make the plant reach for the light seagrow - outdoor foliar for battling plants, wasnt too effective Neem - if used regularly it is useful, but there are better products Pyrol - very effective at contact killing bugs, but not eggs Spinosad - effective against bugs, but is systemic copper soap - very effective at killing and preventing powedery mildew plain water - for shits and giggles emprosoil - adds useful bacteria to the leaf surface sillica - im new to this one and need to learn how it works compost teas - adds useful bacteria to the leaf surface2 points

You can replace the power socket on the light, it is a IEC socket. They are pretty cheap from RS components and most other electrical places. https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=IEC+socket&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 Then you can purchase a kettle cord from Takealot or where ever else you can find them, also rather cheap. Alternatively, connect a cable straight to the light and avoid using the IEC connector. I'd recommend soldering the cable for a proper connection.2 points

I usally put 1 or 2 dell sticks in the soil right before the flush. Then after the flush when the soil settles I slowly and carefull pull them out leaving airways right to the bottom.2 points

4 in a 1.2? thats a lot of additional veg time lol... id rather flood the tent SoG style, or with my totes. i get 6 plants per tote and can fit 2.5 totes in a 1.2 space... or 15 plants . same canopy area covered, but with 4 times the amount of root systems contributing to the final harvest. although, if i ever do decide to comply with the law, 4 per 1.2 would be the way i would need to go.... bleh2 points

I'm only interested in the more compact phenos for this F2 run. I may want to do a separate run on the stretched pheno group at a later time. They are females though and don't just want to kill them. They will simply take up too much space in the next 3 weeks. Even these 9 are going to compete in no time flat.2 points

Yes definitely agree to feed with the first watering (light feeding) . From previous experience the coco is highly buffered with calcium, and a deficiency at that size would be unlikely in a 11-27-8 NPK mix , Testing the run off would be the safest option to know where the soil ppm sits at Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Howzit man. Sorry about your loss. By the looks of things it seems that your medium is left to become a bit too dry. Correct me if i'm wrong. Feel the pot. Lift the pot. Be the pot. I would feed a very light nutrient solution to brighten her up a bit. She seems hungry. Sterkte bruv!2 points

Nice little tutorial. For us newbies every bit of info helps. I say newbie because I'm new to indoor (lockdown grower) but I have been growing outdoor for some time. Some may agree with what you say or disagree but there is useful information for people to sort through and make their own decisions. Nice, big up and keep spreading the info.[emoji109] Sent from my LM-X210(G) using Tapatalk2 points

Thanks for the detailed explanation. What do you look for when testing your cables? That buzzing sound? I remember with my old desktop pc that if not connected properly you get that buzzing sound. the light is quite old so think it’s time to replace it but I’ll check at a electrical store to see if they can replace it safely without risking any fire.1 point

due to the grow behavior of clones, you need to LST or HST each plant or harvest will not be good. Cloning hassle only makes sense with pheno hunted strains... keep what you like, dump the rest. Otherwise, seeds you can go to vacation.. mother tent needs attention.1 point

Okay cool man. I'm about to harvest my 1st SOG. Things I have learned. Clone selection is vital. Pot size is a debatable subject. I used 4.5ltr nursery bags, but I feel you can probably get away with half that size, but this means more frequent irrigation/fertigation. For a SOG more is always more, but it comes with its difficulties. Fertigation/irrigation gets difficult to do by hand when there are loads of pots. FAE needs to be dialed in perfectly, loads of plants are going to do wild things with the RH. Watch the plants like a hawk in the first 3 weeks, I dropped the ball and 1 of the 16 split and grew two growing points which kept her short while the others got tall. Clone selection is vital!!!!! a week or slightly more veg time before flip would probably have increased the yield, most resources say that vegging them will end with to much plant material for the space. Did I mention selecting the right clones is vital? Overall, SOG was a super fun cultivation method.1 point

It wont be information that would benefit anybody in particular but the farm themselves, a qualified agronomist would have prescribed such a foliar dependent on most probably a sap analysis, i'm sure they would be quite certain that specific crop is deficient in Chlorine. Which would not surprise me, people spray all kinds of shit on their plants given the first inkling that it will do something fantastic. Nobodies scenarios are even slightly similar. There is so much variation. Anyway, if the conversation is about water plants with tap water because you need chlorine from a thumb suck. Ill pass, i'm sure your plants will be happy regardless. We just home growers at the end of the day.1 point

4207365's Cloning tutorial Ok so I am not claiming this is the best way to clone. Im not saying I am the clone master. But I want to share with you my method of cloning. Lemme break it down for you . Ok so these are the parameters of my set-up: Light: excess lighting from 450w CFL/Induction Temps: 24-28 constant. RH: Varies in the dome as the days tick by What you need: - Jiffy 41mm cubes/ Rockwool starter cubes - Scalple blade - Gloves - Rooting Hormone #1 powder - Humidome BEFORE WE START I MUST EMPHISIS CLENLINESS WITH THIS OPERATION. THE CLEANER YOUR TOOLS, WORK STATION, POTS, HUMIDOME, SCISSORS ARE THE BETTER SUCCESS RATE YIOU WILL HAVE. THATS JUST MY STYLE. USE H202 TO CLEAN EVERYTHING. Step one: Get yourself some Jiffy 41mm pellets or Rockwool starter cubes. For this tutorial ill be using Jiffy 41's. Put them into a tub of water to soak. They will expand to about 40-50mm. Step 2: After about +-5min the would of swelled to there full size. Give them a gentle squeeze, to get rid of the excess water, you dont want it to be drenched. But remember to keep the uniform shape and not let the cube break up. Step 3: - Make the hole in the centre more uniform with either a skewer or screwdriver (MAKE SURE IT IS CLEAN) - I put them into net pots, but thats just because of my set up. You just put them onto the bottom of the propagator. Step 4 - Now that you have prepared the cubes, time to prep the rooting hormone and mother plant for cuttings. - Pour some rooting hormone onto the table or a piece of paper, so you are able to roll the cuting in it the powder. (probably over kill, but just to make sure). - The mother plant is where you will get your cuttings from. You should take cuttings from just above a node, as to let the auxillary shoot grow out once the clone has been removed. - I put the cuttings into a bottle filled with water to stop an air block/ bubble travelling up the stem, ultimately killing your clone. - Now you can put your mother back into the veg room. Maybe do a little more trimming in order keep her the same level. And by doing this you will also encourage growth lower down on the plant. Which will be your next batch of clones. Step 5 - Now I take the cutting clean up the bottom a bit by removing any fan leaves or auxiliary shoots. - Cut the end at a 45degree angle exposing the xylem more and giving more surface area for the rooting hormone to be absorbed. ( People have cloned with out powder or and hormone, simply on its own) - I then roll and dip the bottom of the cutting in the powder. Making sure to cover the bottom nicely. Step 6 - Gently push the cutting into the cube till you feel a bit of resistance. - Then gently squeeze the coco around the top of the stem, closing it to any light that might get in and making a small humid environment around the area where you want roots to pop out. Step 7 - Now place your cutting into your humidome gently. Space them out so they not crowding the space inside and that there leaves are not on top of each other. - You now need to spray the leaves with the spray gun, make them nice and moist. Remember that the clone can no longer take up water from its root, so you have to foliar feed it for a few days till it shoots some roots. - Every morning and evening (+-12hrs) I open the lid, completely removing it to get new fresh oxygen into the dome. And I give them a nice spray with the water. Don't spray too much, as you will soak the cube and it wont root as quick. The excess water off the leaves will drop and moisten the cubes enough. - After +- 7 days you will see tiny shoots. -And then everyday you will see more. - So now that the roots are showing, it means they can drink from them. - Now you must start conditioning, so that means less and less water on the leaves and more on the roots. - You can also start to open the lid more and more to condition them to the less humidity. Step 8 -Now its time to start to veg them clones. - I put them into small pots with some hydroton and then place them on a tray with a light nutrient solution. They will receive the solution through the bottom of the pot. As the roots will make there way down towards the nutrients. - Once they have vegged some more and are big and healthy and the roots are coming out the bottom of the pot...... its time to transplant into a bigger container. (you can miss this step out and just put them into larger pots once the roots show. I just like to nurture then while they are small.) –-----------------------------------------------THE END---------------------------------------------------------- :-bankie :-rasta :-peace :-peace1 point
