Day 21 The view of the remaining 6 yesterday afternoon. Had them out of the tent for a good inspection. 2 more have been cut. No13, the outlier from the start is just a weak plant, while no11, is showing its hermie nature quite oddly, pushing growths along a fan leaf stem, but nevertheless has been cut. Wherever there is abnormal growth in that nodal area its a clear indication of the hermi trait. Even though those arrowed growths are showing only pistilate and not a single ball sack yet. So that leaves me with No1, 2, 5, and 6. Their side views. All virtually the same height at 70cm. No1 No2 No5 No6 And of course let's not forget the male. He is now reached his peak at 6 weeks of flower. I have been monitoring his development, deciding if I want his pollen. He produces copious amounts of pollen, pushing a fair amount of resin glands... Overall a lekker male. Something that many aren't doing. Don't grab the first pollen that your male gives. Grow him all the way out and check him out. As always I don't collect and use pollen, but always a live male, so he is joining the remaining 4 in the tent for only 2 days before going to reveg. That's more than enough time to ensure a full pollination. Wish I had a better camera to better capture some of his features I like. The view of the 412 points

DAY 35 Sins there is about a week or 2 left or less before the flip to flower I have decided to take a chance and repot 2 of my gals. Hope the gamble plays off, didn't look like they had any shock during the re-potting, the Velcro makes it very easy to trance plant them Added about 10L of coco to the new pot (ph/nut), buff for the new soil to match as closely as possible to existing media to prevent fluctuations and shock. Haha there first time being outside Back in there tent happy again9 points

This is so exceptionally exciting and interesting to follow. It's really nice to see the train of thought of the breeder and I am learning so much. I am proud to be running your genetics and the folks I have given cuttings to are also very VERY happy. Well done man and thanx for sharing7 points

Okay! Definitely one plant is more exuberant than the other, no matter... I have trimmed off some more lower fan leaves and ones that go inward to the plant to expose lower growth. Some stems seemed to grow a bit faster than others, these I have pinched and rolled to slow down the growth for a few days to let the shorter stems catch up. Plants are happy and are not displaying any signs of stress or issues, it is smooth sailing for now Only 10 days left for them to do their things! They will be considerably smaller than other plants I usually put into flower, but I am hoping for the best, juiciest, most succulent flowers come harvest time6 points

Mid week update, the plants are doing well, put the blumat back on the bed, was going smoothly plants seems to be drinking steadily with little movement from res but today they gulped and the bed is super wet so I hope it’s done for now and I’m not running into issues. Layered a bit of oat hay for more surface coverage as the dicondrah didn’t sprout as rapidly as I would like. Don’t know how much space I’ll be left with in this format. I also topped T3 again, that makes up for the lost arm6 points

Update: All good on the seedlings, nothing else to say. Going to plant the Baklava tomorrow morning, roots showed this evening. I have installed a solar LED, manual switched for now, but helps when the power isn't available.6 points

Update on the ladies. I topped T1 and T2 on Sunday night. I think I'll let T3 just go with the flow. Both are looking good with no signs of stress after topping. These pics were taken at 7pm last night.4 points

The Mutant on the right is falling behind. I might need to cut some lowers so that all the energy is transferred into the top 4 branches. I will sleep on it.4 points

Update: Week 6 of veg I'm finally starting to see good growth again, so I've just done the LST. The photos are from immediately after so everything is still bent down a bit from being pushed around. I'll take photos again in a few days. And yeah, hillbilly style with string and binders. I've found it easy to work with and adjust so good enough for me My biggest concern atm is what looks like precipitation in my res. I've never had issues before with hortimix so I'm not sure what I'm seeing that now. So far I've tried My original (flawed) way: A then B then silicon then pH with no delay between each. This is definitely the worst way What should work in theory: Silicone into the res for +1 hour, then A (diluted), the B (diluted) then pH For the second method I took out ~5L of water for each of the A + B before putting in the silicon, then added them in after the 1 hour wait. Always stirred really well, and air pump running 100% of the time. There was no cloudiness with the 2nd option at all, but it went cloudy after ~24 hours. Very strange... I have recently started adding H2O2 (thanks for asking & the concern @ExoticCannabis2021). I'v read some good things about a reasonably low dosage of H2O2 being generally beneficial so was giving that a try. I'm not convinced that its causing the precipitation issues but my next attempt is going to be only A+B and see what happens there. I've seen no signs of nutrient deficiency with these plants so all ok so far. But I do have a few other similar age ones that have one or two leaves starting to show signs of issues, so this is something I need to get sorted ASAP.4 points

Hi guys We're looking for more members to join our monthly comp voting panel. At the moment we have 7 panel members including myself. From time to time, certain panel members are absent from the forum and so we take a while to get the voting concluded. I have an idea of how to work around this but it involves getting at least another 5 panel members on board. Anyone willing to stick their hands up?3 points

It's already been enabled but we'll have to see how the host server handles the bandwidth once the feature is enabled. A few guys watching videos at the same time may be problematic so we'll have to see. Unfortunately this therefore means that your video may be removed if this doesn't work out. Just some important things to know: You'll need to ensure your file size is lower than the 300mb limit. The limit is there to manage the threat of bandwidth overload. This website will not compress videos on upload and you won't have the ability to select different video qualities to save on data. Don't expect the same level of performance like you have with YouTube etc. Loading times may be a slow at times. Accepted video file types are mp4, avi, 3GP, MOV and WMV3 points

I have other plants to harvest and then a big clean up be for I will be able to start flowering. But I am hoping this weekend.3 points

A mate reminded me I should have the fans aimed at the canopy. Sometimes I overlook the most important things. I ended up defoliating selectively in order to maximize canopy surface area, aka a bit of both.3 points

Hey growers. My name is Rob and I'm an avid gardener from SA. My interests lie more in the 'alternative' gardening like hydroponics. I experiment with different and easier methods like kratky. I don't have a grow room as yet. My first grow last year was from an unknown seed which turned into a highly sedative cannabutter. My current grow is from the 'free' palomino seeds from the website in a kratky bucket with soluble nutrients from the nursery. I've been researching different methods on how to extract different cannabinoids on yt: thca, cbd, cbn for my partner's medical ailments to make a salve! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!2 points
-
Hi @donnob, @SkunkPharm, @PsyCLown. Thanks for the advice. I'm testing the kratky method without aerating the water. It's said the exposed roots draws oxygen directly from the air. Whether it's enough or the same as aeration is another story. I'll be adding to my setup for my future grows as it's just a hobby at this stage so I'll def be asking for guidance!!2 points

Yeah just like growing, there are many ways to approach it with no right or wrong really. Some breeders collect and work with lots of pollen at the same time. It's real easy in my mind to loose track of particles that can't be seen singularly. So to avoid cross contamination I only work with one type of pollen in a 2 to 3 month period, or 4 to 6 males a year.2 points

Having a look through the diaries over a pint at the local bush pub I've come to a realization. I've jumped into the deep end again and found out I'm nowhere near the level required. But hey, looking and learning AND believe me I have learnt plenty so far. Sent from my LM-X210(G) using Tapatalk2 points

Judging Criteria Plants are judged on their condition when the grower states they are finished, however other factors are considered in the process as well, such as: How consistent was the grow - minimal hiccups along the way How well the chosen training technique was executed Maximum utilization of light General good growing practices Plant Condition Judging Criteria Bud size and condition Plant colour Minimal burn Minimal leaf clawing Minimal leaf cupping Minimal pest infection Lack of deficiencies Number of bud sites No signs of stunting Plant size - this plays a roll but plant size must be accompanied by quality. As varying training techniques will produce varying sized plants. The size of a plant won't weigh heavily in judging. No excessive stretching Judging Panel @Totemic @PsyCLown @420SA @Green Leaf Organics - a late but very welcome judge addition2 points

It's not that bad, I will get a picture of the one in flower now for you, and have actually just let go my last clone of that today unfortunately. A lot of strains are hype and names and what the latest fashion is, and I wasnt that impressed with the blunicorn There are about 4 or 5 strains left now to choose from.1 point

Hope you are well @Chris Jayand thank you. On another note, you being in the EC, I have some clones for you sir. That's if you want them.1 point

Welcome! If you want to stick to hydro, might be worth investing in some nutes which are tried and tested for growing cannabis in hydro. GHE Tripart Nutriplex (I think Nutrigold now - from Greenthumb hydroponics) Hortimix (Cheap, but requires a bit more knowledge and equipment to get it dialed in and working well) Adding an airpump with an airstone will help as well and isn't too expensive. Soil and/or coco are good alternatives too.1 point
-
Hey @Growbaron, welcome! There's tons of experienced growers here that I'm sure will help you out with any advise you need. Is there anything specific? The plant in the pics has me concerned about the 3 fingered/curled leaves, maybe stress? I think if you could add an air pump and air stone to the mix to get more oxygen to the root zone you'll see a vast difference quickly. And as @SkunkPharm said, there are some awesome ready made soils out there that will get you amazing results.1 point

Wow, they look like totally different plants between the week 5 and 6 pic. Very healthy and thick looking lol [emoji23] Im using the same hortimix, but don't have that thickness, could that be the silicone that's doing that? Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk1 point

Day 41 Plants are starting to get a bit miffy with me and starting to droop somewhat. Usually a sign for me that they want their new pot which puts me in a bit of a predicament.... I've been trying to source Lithuanian peat moss in bulk since early May for the soil mix that will see these plants through flower but the supplier has been delaying with excuse after excuse for non delivery. After a combination of waiting too long and procrastination, I decided to use a blend of coco and protek peat moss from builders and only mixed the soil last Wednesday. Which means this soil is undercooked and I'm worried about getting these plants into the soil even sooner than anticipated. This soil needs a month to cook, which I obviously wouldn't have had enough time for anyway. On the other hand I have been okay in the past when getting plants into the soil too soon, so we'll see.... Gonna try push transplant till Wednesday or Thursday. Otherwise I'm happy with the progress of growth coming up to the flip deadline Base of the soil mix pictured below ( Perlite, EWC, Coco & Protek Peat Moss) This got mixed together and then amendments were added. .1 point

Update, survivor is going great now that the medium has been rinsed well, and I also tied her down. Ec is set at 0.7 and Ph 5.5. A bit miffed that I messed this grow up to be honest, but she is pulling along. Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk1 point

Awesome I will take a look thank you! And yes I look forward to the day Thank you as well for the compliments! We looking to do a CBD range soon as I found a hemp farmer (legal) who sells bulk hemp which is great. Looking to get capital from the THC side and get a mini factory some day when sales start increasing a bit1 point

Alright! Time to update my thread!! The plants are moving along happily... I did a large removal of leaves and nodes I have no interest in and hopefully they can put the energy to where I want it I have been a bit slack... And the plants haven't been watered since last week some time.. So I'm going to do that now now and get stuck into my veg room... Lots to do!! Even more to do in the flower room but lets not go there now hehe1 point

Those look like nanners, female pollen sacs. Sometimes a female plant will produce nanners after a long time in flower without being pollinated. In an effort to produce offspring she will self pollinate. Buds can lose anything from 60 to 80% weight during drying and curing. It can be dissappointing as they look so fat and feel heavy during trimming, but then seem to shrink during drying.1 point
