  1. Day 45 The decline continued since my last update. As I'm sure many could see was gonna be the case. This is definitely the last time I grow in plastic pots beyond the seedling stage. That, and I need to sort out my potting regime. I keep underestimating root growth and allowing the plants to get root bound (see below) as a result the plants look like shite now. It's still manageable at this stage though and if this new soil doesn't incinerate these plants I'll see them bounce back nicely. I went ahead and repotted into 40L fabric pots yesterday afternoon. A few days to settle into the new pots and I'll start some training

  3. These guys with their monster bushes, pfffft Just finished the training on The One, probably the most effort I've ever spent on training a single plant she's looking nice and level, kinda reminds me of umbrella thorn trees. So now I am thinking of when to flip and the final shape of the plant. Basically a week until the flip deadline so thinking of just going right until the end.

  6. Well my fellow growmies... Seems assif Covid will force us to hone our skills further... The deed was done.. I potted up to my planned final pot but I fear it was a bit early as the root development was far weaker that I antisipated.. This might come back and bite me but so I learn.. No1 was put in a Super Frass FF PC and DE mix.. Nr 2&3 in a FF PC with some DE, Rock phosphate and Calcium phosphate mix.. They were droopy since the last watering and that was part of the reason why I decided to pot up.. But as you can see there were allot of space for more root development. Part of my issue here I think is wrong watering technique.. I gave them a good soak afterwards but never before have I been nervious when doing a pot up and today I was... They bounced back quick.. Not realy want to do any of my torture chamber routines on them as I can not afford to loose vege time.. I will see how they do and maybe do some HST & LST next week Tuesday to have them recover before the flip on Saturday the 3rd.. Enjoy the weekend and stay safe.

  8. what strain are you running to get the 800g yeild? who do you know of that is getting 800g in that space so that you think you will also be able to reach that? it sounds like you have some grow knowledge, or spend time with peeps who have the grow knowledge. but 800g in that space is pretty much pro level...a better goal for a noobie as you say you are is around 400g

  11. I could fit another 6 plants in this setup, maybe even push a kilo.. This is probably going to be the next grow diary after I'm done with selecting my Tortoni F1. Pushing kilos baby.

  12. @Wayne502 Welcome! Firstly, let's start using meters as we're in South Africa and it's just simpler that way. 1.2m x 1.2m tent, the height would typically be 2m but 6 feet works out to 1.8m? That extra 20cm makes a big difference if you want to run HID lights. For LED's not as much of an issue or concern. Lets first start with what you want to achieve and what you restrictions are. You want to try get a yield of 800g - many ways to achieve this. What is your restriction? Money for the initial setup? Space for tents / plants? What are you trying to achieve? 800g from the smallest space possible or can you consider a larger space to fit more plants? In a 1.2m x 1.2m tent, stick 2x 240W Quantum Boards inside for a total of 480W of LED power and you're good to go. With this lighting you should be able to achieve 600 to 800g dry, but other factors need to be taken into consideration. Environment, strain, plant size etc. etc. In terms of air circulation for inside the tent, a single 30cm box fan should suffice with the louvre turned on. Hang it from the top of the tent facing downwards. You can get away with a simple extraction fan to exhaust air out of the tent, dangle some ducting for passive airintake. 6" extraction fan is more than sufficient for such a space. You could likely get away with a 4" extraction fan if running LED's and no carbon filter. I would advise against HID's due to the heat, you want extra height as well and to keep everything cool is a mission and often leads to issues or one requiring to spend more money - especially in summer. Also the bulbs need to be replaced every now and then as well which is an additional cost.

  13. I think don't LST, the time left till flip and end of comp won't allow them to get much bigger even if you grow a christmas tree shape. LST will only set you back another day or two

  15. Okay! Definitely one plant is more exuberant than the other, no matter... I have trimmed off some more lower fan leaves and ones that go inward to the plant to expose lower growth. Some stems seemed to grow a bit faster than others, these I have pinched and rolled to slow down the growth for a few days to let the shorter stems catch up. Plants are happy and are not displaying any signs of stress or issues, it is smooth sailing for now Only 10 days left for them to do their things! They will be considerably smaller than other plants I usually put into flower, but I am hoping for the best, juiciest, most succulent flowers come harvest time

  16. Hi guys, new to growing, looking to run 12 plants in 12 litre pots under a 1000w hps in a 4x4x6 tent aiming for a yield of 800g+ if possible, idk what to expect, any input would be appreciated, question is, with an air cooled reflector and 6 inch fan pushing air through the hood with a mini DIY cooler box filled with ice and a computer fan directing cold air through the 6 inch fan ducting be sufficient at cooling the 1000w hps light? Trying to save cost on electricity by eliminating the need of an AC unit

  17. I grow in a 1.2m tent and my limit is 600g of dried trimmed buds can't see how I will get more than 600g ever.

  18. Got about 800g myself using a 1.2x2.4m tent and 3 x 240W QB LED. 12 plants, 17L fabric pots, coco perlite 70/30, GHE nutrients. Seed to smoke roughly 3 months. Proof

  19. I have not tried this, heard of people doing 12 / 12 from seed, however I feel everything will need to be on point in order to get a good yield. One mistake and it's tickets to your yield.

  22. Day 40 10 days to flip. Today they got watered with a light dose of blackstrap molasses introduced for the first time. 1 week of growth (minus me removing the odd fan leaf). I've been pressing the branches downwards by hand to try develop a more flat+even surface for light to land.

  23. Yeah man, I consider my space dialed in, and I still average just over 500g in 1.2x1.2 To the OP, Double your space to 1.2x2.4.... Half your wattage by dropping the HID, and run 720w of Led in the double space. Then you are going to hit your 800g+ mark.

  24. I believe in you, Doctor

  25. The dry yield could be improved in such a space too, add another 240W QB and maybe tweak a few more things. Although far more easier to achieve in a larger space obviously.

  27. Very similar to what I was saying, just reverse in a sense and leaves air pockets or uneven watering. Like having air pockets, or even similar to like having root damage, from or similar to air pruning but non intentionally, by having air in the mix or uneven watering and dry spots.

All the pots with two seedlings are the DQ and SxDQ regulars. When sexed cuttings will be made and made available to forum members as gifts..

  31. Damnit I keep missing these. Two reasons. One: finally managed to get an app that can take better photos without the disco effect. Still blurry as I can’t keep my hand still, will set up the tripod asap. Two: something is seriously stunting these girls. Little growth means little change so I keep forgetting to update. Enough excuses, here’s the ladies. Been getting microbes, calmag and rainwater. #1. Don’t think the FIM took. So just lst as the top grows out again. #2. She’s catching up to her sisters. #3. 33. This week I've caused some more tip burn and clawing. It's either the salty coco, or too much Nitrogen. Everything has been sprayed quite heavily over the last couple of weeks. I don't increase the dosage of neem and garlic, but I increase the frequency to every 3 days, when the bugs are around. I find that a spray of fish mix (1-2 ml) helps with the bugs, but that could've also caused the problem with the burnt tips. When things get all out of whack then I just give plain water and half a teaspoon of gypsum. I took all the raddish out and removed any rotting debris from the pots. The big Buddha cheese girls came out for a hair cut and inspection. 3 distinct phenos and they all smell strong, when I rubbed them. With Mycorootno mycoroot Once they hit the top of the canes (1.2 m) I will start flowering.

  35. Be carefull of cbd products that are locally made . While there are guys out there doing it properly there are also a lot of people that are doing it really badly . The laws state that per serving no more than 20mg with no more than 600mg per bottle/packet . Anything over this needs a doctor's prescription. People also don't realize that you can only use cbd isolate that has been approved by SAPRA and imported with all its paperwork from the UK. Any cbd that is extracted locally be it distilate, isolate etc is techniquly illegal to use in products as its not SAPRA registered even if it's under the legal 0.3% thc . While the little CBD producers are really not going to be gone after by SAPRA unless someone has a really bad reaction and an investigation is launched , it's still worth bearing in mind when deciding on a product . I have lab tested a large number of local products and the majority of the "full spectrum" contain large amounts of thc . If you looking for a good broad spectrum CBD have a look at Madisons Botanicals . They are made from locally produced cbd and contain 0.2% thc and I have seen there COA and have had them nafs tested . In the end of the day though due to the cbd used techniquely they still an illegal product in SAPRA's eyes

  37. DAY 35 Sins there is about a week or 2 left or less before the flip to flower I have decided to take a chance and repot 2 of my gals. Hope the gamble plays off, didn't look like they had any shock during the re-potting, the Velcro makes it very easy to trance plant them Added about 10L of coco to the new pot (ph/nut), buff for the new soil to match as closely as possible to existing media to prevent fluctuations and shock. Haha there first time being outside Back in there tent happy again

  38. After a few years of absence on the forums i felt I had to come back and give credit where credit is due. Totemic is truely bringing us fire genetics. Plants cultivated outdoors in winter I have had the chance now to test a lot of fem seeds by totemic lately and will bring my review on the other strains once the go into flower . For now I will speak about chocolate Gelato x slurricane Fems which I found contain a 99% successful female rate This cross is extreamly resistant to mildew with 13% showing signs of mildew , bare in mind it's winter. They are also exteamly pest resistant and had no issues with pests. There are roughly 9 phenotypes but that can be expected with them being S1. There's a good mix of sativa and indica dominant phenos . Whilst I do not normally enjoy sativa dominant phenos as a fair majority contain alpha pinene which is one terpine I really dislike flavour wise , I am finding the sativa dominant phenos are carrying high levels of mercene which is my favorite terpine and usually found mainly in indica dominant. Most of the plants are carrying the terpine profile of slurricane .There is one pheno occurring at a 8% rate that is a lower yielder which is the only drawback I found whilst not a big one as quality is on point . I also had a 1% mutant rate. I had a germination rate of 93%. I have spent a lot of money on imported genetics and I can honesly say that totemic brings us fire . I personally won't be cultivating imported genetics for a while . There is a noticeable difference in the way the plants handle our climate over imported genetics . Breede locally for our climate and putting our money back into our local community . Love what you doing totemic and keep it up. Ps I am not a tester for totemic I am just a guy that wanted to give them a go and was extreamly happy and they went way above my expectations

  41. you also have to replace bulbs and ballasts too, loose light intensity after first grow... pffs I thank the higher power every day I started growing after the age of the HID, seems like a headache to work with compared to the LEDs. I would highly suggest LED over HID, specially with the modern tech we have.

  42. AC might work out cheaper than topping up the ice a few times a day, ice not going to last long. That's a lot of watts in a 1x1x1,5m area , you need about 2 hight also with that light. In general a pot is 30cm plus the plants will be 30cm+ and that will leave you with 90cm between light and plant canopy before the stretch when you go into flower. What airflow do you have passing through the grow space ? Luckily weather is getting colder and that MIGHT counter the heat side but the intensity of the light on the plants can be rough after stretch. Some fellow growers using HID will give advise soon , hang in there. PS- Welcome [emoji3577] Sent from my Hisense Infinity H50 using Tapatalk

  49. Update: Week 6 of veg I'm finally starting to see good growth again, so I've just done the LST. The photos are from immediately after so everything is still bent down a bit from being pushed around. I'll take photos again in a few days. And yeah, hillbilly style with string and binders. I've found it easy to work with and adjust so good enough for me My biggest concern atm is what looks like precipitation in my res. I've never had issues before with hortimix so I'm not sure what I'm seeing that now. So far I've tried My original (flawed) way: A then B then silicon then pH with no delay between each. This is definitely the worst way What should work in theory: Silicone into the res for +1 hour, then A (diluted), the B (diluted) then pH For the second method I took out ~5L of water for each of the A + B before putting in the silicon, then added them in after the 1 hour wait. Always stirred really well, and air pump running 100% of the time. There was no cloudiness with the 2nd option at all, but it went cloudy after ~24 hours. Very strange... I have recently started adding H2O2 (thanks for asking & the concern @ExoticCannabis2021). I'v read some good things about a reasonably low dosage of H2O2 being generally beneficial so was giving that a try. I'm not convinced that its causing the precipitation issues but my next attempt is going to be only A+B and see what happens there. I've seen no signs of nutrient deficiency with these plants so all ok so far. But I do have a few other similar age ones that have one or two leaves starting to show signs of issues, so this is something I need to get sorted ASAP.

  50. Took the runt girl out for a picture. Some worthy mentions of her is, she's extremely soft, I hardly touched her and the stem snapped right off. Removed one leaf and felt more like water than stem Anywho, I'm really keen to see her flower as something is just intriguing in her, she's catching my attention.
