Day 56 ( Flower Day 5 ) Alright fellas sorry for my absence! Went away for the weekend to fish for some troots. Was actually meant to update on Friday but it totally slipped my mind while packing and all. My apologies.... and even though I wasn't competing in the first place I have disqualified myself... but am allowed to continue growing and post updates... So this soil is evidently still undercooked and even though the plants are recovering to some extent, I'm not seeing the burst of healthy growth I would usually see once the plants go into the super soil. As I say they are improving, but slowly and much behind the pace. Soil PH may not be the best at this point. Hopefully as we progress it will improve. It's at least manageable. I switched to 12/12 on Friday 2nd of July. They are still in the veg tent under the MH running 12/12 now. Tonight I'm going to clean the flower tent and transfer the plants into there. The pic below was taken on Thursday last week (day 51). I will post some updated pics tonight when lights are on. Updated pics to come tonight7 points

Its not necessarily a bad thing that you went straight to the 10L. Outdoor watering when compared to indoor watering is fucking world's apart and I also learnt my lesson the hard way. Outdoor in Summer my 20l fabric pot got 5L of water every single day with no overwatering issues. Indoor with my 20L pots they get 1L of water every 4 to 7 days depending how well the medium drained. You are going through a valuable learning curve and will be a stronger, better and wiser grower for the next run.5 points

fair come back, at least you know whats up with your borehole water. @PsyCLowns idea about doing different things to the different pots why dont you try that? do nothing with your healthiest plant. doing nothing seems to be the consensus at the moment, to try dry up the medium to see if positive results ensue. with another plant, only do a epsom foliar feed every day or every 2 days for 1 week and see if there are any differences. and on the last one, give her a proper feed, dont formulate your own feeding regime, the one that works is printed on the bottle. and see how she is in a week. based on the results i can guestimate that the epsom foliar plant may look the healthiest, followed by the plant that got fed,and lastly the one that got nothing insanity is changing nothing, but expecting a different outcome - try something at least and see for yourself. i would for real prefer you to try something, come back and tell us we are a bunch of twats, than you try nothing4 points

Fair bit of info to help make my mind up come Friday. I did do a light igrowdagga Epsom salts spray now though. Now you guys have me thinking heater (have to order) or moister prob (village nursery has a duel something). And who the FCUK said golf was expensive. Sent from my LM-X210(G) using Tapatalk3 points

Good advice all, thanks. Reason I entered the competition, to learn. I think it all started with inexperience planting into 10l pot indoors. No problems outdoors. And now trying to claw my way back. At the end of the comp I think I'll condense the thread. It might just be a good read on how things go wrong and solutions if I manage to pull through. Sent from my LM-X210(G) using Tapatalk3 points

Bud if I can advise here. Don't listen to anyone, don't follow one person's advice that has been given. - Read them all, digest them all, but don't anchor to one, you need to find your own answer, we don't have it. But rather sit back, and think what could you have done, or what you can do to improve. If your taught fail atleast you learnt how not to do it, and that's step 1 to learning how to do something. *We're all sitting on the sidelines speculating and it's causing alot of unnecessary noise, you need to sit in the quite and think3 points

Everyone giving advice, different and similar. Very confusing. Leave that soil for a few days, no feed before, and maybe a foliage spray to help start the flow of evaporation and transpiration.3 points

Awesome and congrats @The_StonedTrooper Great feeling have everything dialed into that point where it just works and requires less effort from your side and reduces the frustration3 points

Don't stress too much about the cold. Your plants are going to grow a bit slower and will be colorful, but they'll still grow. It's not the temperature doing that to those girls. I'd literally stop everything(watering, feeding, no fiddling) for the next 7 or more days. If you don't get an improvement on that, then that soil is off.3 points

I finally got my conditions, ventilation and all sorted to where I am completely satisfied, and can close the tent up all day and night. Game changer. Love the BUDBOX for this reason, and for all the reason, everything about this tent, screams out loud, excellent quality3 points

The two that was LST(topped and Fimmed) stand at 25cm and the one that I left as is at 35cm from soil. They just got plain rainwater and last night with the flip they got some flowering feed and Probiotic. Veg room temps fluctuate fast between 20-26 due to the element heater , so growth stunned a little but , each winters story. But it's ok , it is what it is. Sooo here we go guys3 points

Day 55, took a few photos. You can start to see the difference in the Zkittle phenos, so I put them as 1, 2 and 3 Zkittle 1, whole plant with light on, the bulkiest of the 3 phenos, would say the she stinks more but is a bit less resinous. normal light close up phones macro option Zkittle 2, light on whole plant, shortest and over all smalles of the 3, bit more frost, but think nr 3 is frostiest? normal light whole plant close up phones macro option phones macro option with flash Zkittle 3, light on whole plant, she's the tallest and stretchiest of the 3, but looks like slowest with bud development or she's just gona make more, smaller buds, we'll see close up phones macro option Super Lemon OG, whole plant light on, I really like the look and smell of this plant! normal light whole plant close up phones macro option Banana Hammock, whole plant light on, everything that's purple, stretched out over the whole tent whole plant normal light close up light on phones macro option, light on phones macro option, normal light add on - almost forgot a photo of the canopy Here is the veg tent. ladies potted into 20L and one 30L, one month left in here then moved over to flower tent.2 points

July 6 - Day 53 From left to right: 2, 1, 3. They got some water today (explains the humidity spike on the chart). Clothes pegs have been removed - release the kraken! I must still remove the garden wire but they are on with a fair bit of wiggle room so there shouldn't be any risk of cutting into the branches. Can see the little milex heater on the potjie stand in the corner under the fan. Been running it during lights-on to keep the tent around 23-24°C during the "day". Eskom. 15% increase. Pain.2 points

Evening growmies.. So I potted them up today.. Some good root development and two were almost root bound.. Hoping to take some cuts as soon as they show sex and then into the flower tent they'll go.. As soon as the cuts are rooted they'll be up for grabs..2 points

LOL you should hear some of the missions i have pulled moving grown ass plants up and down the stairs in the dead of night like some skelem hahaha and i am not a build oke... im kinda skraal so i can just imagine what people would have thought if i was caught haha. i buy the 5kg pressed bricks and hydrate them upstairs, much easier than lugging coco for days2 points

Week 9 - Day60 (06/07/2021) HORTIMIX-DWC After a slight defoliation i noticed that the bottom growth and the hidden growth was infected with a fair amount of powdery mildew. So i removed all the affected leaves and then sprayed with hydrogen peroxide (10ml 3% H2O2 diluted in 600ml water). Will re-apply in 3-4 days. Also notices some aphids - will have to start treatment again 3d printed some plant trainers and bent down the upper growth to give the lower growth some time to catch up. I don't think i will be topping again PH was already at 6.7 and EC was 1.1 Added ph down (10 drops) New PH at 5.8 and EC at 1.1 Pics to follow2 points

Totally agree , if the rez temp fluctuates during day and night ph also fluctuates , also during summer when it was hot and they drink alot of water and the volume of water goes down EC tends to go higher because they only drink water to cool themselves as they transpire and do not feed much, also changing ph. Yeah, thinking the same... Issue with the plants not getting enough darkness for 12 hours. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk2 points

hey @PippinTook! sadly that is all to familiar to me. you have thrips. you could pick off one of those leaves and you will have to look ultra close to see anything. thrips range from about 0.5mm to 1.5mm and they will chow your whole plant fucked. as for the yellowing, thats likely just normal nitrogen def. i wouldnt add too much in flower, but it does need a smidge. what have you got in your stores for IPM management?2 points
-
Yeah I think the type of medium, strain and environmentals will be the determining factor as to the frequency and volume of watering needed.. Like we have seen from the replies there are several ways to skin this cannabis smoking cat.2 points

I agree with doing a foliar twice a week or so and just supplementing where possible, but here in the cape, its been wetter than wet. Rain for a full week, 90 plus % humidity all days and nights, its no wonder nothing is drying up. If we carry on as usual and water according to the schedule, it really wont do any good. If we were rocking summer, different story.2 points
-
Doesn't matter how long it takes. let those pots dry out completely. Your roots cannot breath, and Its been like that for a while now.2 points

as new guys join the forum and ask for advice, among the first things we encourage is a Ph pen and a Ec pen. due to the lack of testing equipment, it is highly probable that your borehole water is not phed well, it may have undesirable amounts of crap in it that you dont want. i would switch to tap water honestly, stable ph and stable Ec to work with. a friend of mine in durban is also trying to use borehole water to grow with, and im also telling him that he must use tap water... literally 10 min ago another growmie complained that he mistakenly put borehole water into his jojo and it has an ec of 1.4 im just saying... i dont ever ever hear anyone praise the borehole water as pure and refined... its more often advised to not drink it, so why give it to our valued crops?2 points
-
Yes fair point, I'm trying to really work into the fact that, even if its 200ml every other day or 3rd day from the time the soils was waterlogged, its going to stay like that and less and less oxygen is getting to the roots. I had to wait 1 and half weeks after I saturated my big pot to water again, doesn't matter that I had this feed/that feed planned. Roots without oxygen manifest pathogens and root rot, and then there is no coming back unfortunately. No special bottles are fixing that2 points

Buying in China makes sense, when you know exactly what you wanna buy.. otherwise, they sell you ANYTHING as awesome grow lights, even the diodes are prehistoric. Honesty is not the Chinese main sales argument. That is enough light and if you added 6500k or not, shouldn't have mattered to much. Enough light.. just old, I would say is a SMD3528 on the 50 watt panels. Way less effective as the LM301B / H range. The Chinese know that fact too.. they just buy the cheap old material and turn in into "awesome grow lights". Nothing wrong with those lights, the tech is just very old. When ever you buy a light these days, check that the diodes are perfectly square.. if not, old technology. Your plants are confused.. and I agree with the guys before.. sit in your grow space during day time... you might need a hand to close up from outside.. and see if you are sitting in the pitch black.. if there is light coming in, patch those spots.. pitch black, nothing else works. And as @PsyCLown mentioned before, actual picture, need to see how they look now. nearly a month old pictures not helping ^^2 points

I very rarely take medication for anything. Something my grandfather said to me years ago. Never take chemicals be it drugs or medication. Keep it natural if possible. Suppose it's a mental block of sorts. Will be starting a feeding schedule Friday though so all info appreciated. Sent from my LM-X210(G) using Tapatalk2 points

To be realistic here, our G is in the process of learning now, once figuring this out, he will be able to get a good Harvest.2 points

i agree 96% with @Totemic, i would personally saturate the pots with a full strength dose of GHE and correctly ph the feed and then leave the plant alone for a week and see what happens... possibly take @iGrowDagga daily Epsom salts foliar regime for the next 7 days as well because those purple stems are badly needing some mg. are you testing your Ph?2 points

Why did you move away from hydro? Yeah i wasnt checking my res daily because when the plants are young theres not alot of PH fluctuations and i wasnt adding CO2 tabs til now Now ill definitely be checking them daily and adjusting - but maybe even twice a day like you said might be beneficial1 point

I don't think its over watering. My soil is a peat based soil and it retains 2-3 times more water than coco. I water every day atm.1 point
