Alrighty then we are coming up on that time I am going to post the update pics in order of how I took them this time just out of convenience as I have three different angles for each plant. I am also going to post the other plants I am growing just for comparisons sake. There's a bunch of pics to follow so I will do my quick summary here rather than after. One of the Tortoni's, T#6 has been developing some nanners so I am going to chop her tomorrow morning after setting up my drying net. The nanners are very isolated and look very new so I do not think they would have had time to do too much damage. Time will tell if any seeds developed in her or in any other of the ladies. When I give her the chop I am going to give the back plants a closer look as I will have a bit more space to do so. T#10 has the thickest and most complete queen cola out of all the Tortonis and she has the most green and lack of purple out of all the Tortonis. T#5 may be short, but her buds are all nice and consistent in size, she's like a mini version of T#10 but with a little more purple hues. T#8 has the most developed bottom nuggets I have ever seen on any plant I have ever grown in my life, I just forgot to take a pic of them but I will next time. They look like nuggets you would find in the middle of the plant but they are the most bottom which I usually get undeveloped meh buds, but not this lady. T#9 has the deepest colour of purple out of all the Tortonis and is a bit like T#8 in shape and size but the bottom nugs don't seem as developed or as large. Otherwise still a good few clear trichomes on the Wedding Cake and one or two of the Tortonis. Trickles of amber are appearing throughout all the plants so end of month is still looking like perfect harvest timing. The Choc Gelato is the tiniest plant of the lot, super small but I am hoping she packs some tasty flavour. The Zkittles x Purple Punch has some really stellar compact trichomes, it wows me every time. Wedding Cake T#5 Choc Gelato T#10 T#6 T#9 T#8 Zkittles x Purple Punch10 points

Thanks all for the warm welcome. Good thing cause we expecting snow tonight.... In terms of fauna, we have rabbits, ducks, chickens, goats, and some wandering local cows and horses. Stated in order of ease of looking after them. Kept mainly for manure for our compost, but also for fun and sometimes to eat. Just in case you wondering, we don't kill the local cows and horses. We just send someone running after them picking up their poop. Here's an arbitrary manure fact.... Rabbit poop gives you the highest NPK of all the manures. Like goat manure, it is also a cold manure, meaning that you can add it straight to your garden, without burning your plants. Most pellet type manures are cold manures. Chickens, cow and horse tend to be hot manures, meaning they need to be composted first and not put straight onto your plants. And here's a carbon / green manure fact.... Try to avoid both pine and eucalyptus woodchip / sawdust in your compost or living soil. Pine has microscopic oil particles which can coat beneficial soil microbes and render them inactive. Eucalyptus is a nasty beast all around and puts out allelopathic chemicals into the soil, to suppress the growth of other plants.8 points

So let's get some pictures going! Not many and not the best, sorry for the delay. As per another thread I have started, I have an issue with some Root Aphids so trying to deal with that - hopefully this grow won't be affected too badly due to them darn pests. As mentioned, some plants went into flower before others. These plants need a defol and went into flower later so not much in terms of pistils and bud formation yet: These plants went into flower towards the end of June, they were delayed a bit I feel due to the weird light cycle when I messed up the schedule on the sonoff but are now nicely on their way to some good bud being formed. Tent is starting to get nice and smelly now too which only started happening this week. I need to try even out the canopy a bit, may be difficult now as I left them for a bit too long. A mix of strains as you can see, always requires work to get a flat canopy and I have not put the work and effort in as you can see - been busy and then the root aphid issue has kinda been a bit of a downer and put me off the grow a little, part of the reason for the delay in these pics being posted.6 points

Thanks guys, been looking forward to this moment before harvest for quite a while! I just harvested T#6 now, after handling the bud and getting a nice personal look at the nuggets, @Totemic the buds are mega resinous my dude, jirrrrrrrrre! I don't think I've ever had gloves this soaked in goodness before and I consider this one to be harvested a bit early. I am so looking forward to harvesting the rest of the Tortonis later on in the month after what I just saw5 points

I took a video of the plants further into flower as well. Let's see how the video hosting does. Otherwise I uploaded it here too: https://streamable.com/rcdtbp 1626959344776.mp44 points

In terms of refurbishment, not exactly the same although best to try compare apples to apples. One can simply replace the Qb288 (the board with the diodes on them) on a Quantum Board light. One does not need to replace the entire light, you can then continue to reuse the heatsink, power supply, dimmer, hanging equipment etc. Just providing you with info, the choice is yours end of the day. Both options will be great between the Modugrow lights and quantum boards and I believe the Modugrow also use Lm301b diodes so performance would be similar watt for watt. One thing you want to avoid is those shitty lights without a proper heatsink, they just have an aluminium plate and are very thin. Not ideal for heat dissipation. Having the power supply mounted to the light is also not ideal for heat dissipation. Heat will cause the diodes to degrade quicker and provide less output. Hi folks, We are based off-grid in the Eastern Cape, amongst the mycelium rich forests of the Amathole mist belt. We run a regenerative, organic, biodynamic, permaculture (yadda, yadda) centre, growing awesome food (although cannabis growers seem to love our living soils) and offering practical, customised lessons in self-sufficiency. Looking forward to interacting here. Soil is our passion, because without decent soils Homo Sapiens as a species are done for.3 points

The feature was enabled not too long ago. I'm afraid it was always a worry of mine that the site wouldn't be able to handle videos well. Hosting videos independently can come with a host of problems, especially if the hosting server isn't capable of handling it, which I was worried may be the case with this website and appears to be so. Fortunately, there will be improvements to the video experience in the future but that will still be a while.3 points

Those are solid lights. Like you I wanted to upgrade from shitty old tech lights and bit the bullet and bought a 240 QB from @Light It Up. They did such magic to my grow that I somma bought another one for my other tent. You won't be disappointed dude.3 points

Howzit people. Here to learn and just see what's going on. I'm a grower, only been growing for 6 years and recently got into breeding to create/preserve strains I like. I grow outdoors, I know the basics of indoor growing but do not have my own setup. I prefer local genetics and love to dabble with bagseed. I created this account for fun, just to share my experiences and hopefully learn a thing or two. Edit: I don't have any pics up on the forum yet but you guys can check out my instagram if you keen SAgrower (@africangrown) β’ Instagram photos and videos2 points

There has been a struggle for ages, gouvernment hurting small farmers, because they can't profit off their backs. With all the mountain growers up there in central africa, who has passed down cannabis farming through generations, I wonder how this will impact their livelyhood? I feel the curve of "americanization" also implies treating everything as if it's a product, and I don't feel this is a good thing in every situation.2 points

Yeah thats the run off with normal ph'd water. I have been flushing for a week but I'm not so sure if I should add nutes again.. maybe I'll phase some in. Thanks I'm loving these colours, first time I've had a plant go purple. And yeah I'll try be more patient with harvesting this time round. I stuck the microscope right into the bud but I'll check again and make sure I'm looking at a calyx, thanks man!!2 points

@PsyCLownI think the instructions from efekto says 12 ml to 10 L for drenching lawns, I had a big problem in my pots so I went with 15 ml in 10 litres and it worked. Its a long time since I used any spinosad, I stopped caring about the fungus gnat larvae and worms, when I moved back from hydro to soil. I rotate all pesticides to avoid the bugs building any resistance and bio neem works well without causing any plant stress. Good luck , I hope you solve it soon.1 point

Eco Insect Control is pretty good stuff, however pests can develop resistance to it quite easily and quickly so best not to use it too often. A combination of pesticides I feel is often best and try wipe them all out as quickly as possible to prevent resistance and the resistant pest becoming dominant and being more of an issue to get rid of. I have heard mixed things about Spinosad and neem being systemic, systemic pesticides certainly are appealing as it makes life easier - especially if you miss a patch on a leaf etc. 1.5ml seems to be on the higher side, looking at it for big applications for farms and such the dosages recommended for a more concentrated versio nof the product worked back to 0.6ml per L for soil drench and 1.2ml per L for foliar and I applied it accordingly for a soil drench. Less than half the dose you used though, perhaps upping it would yield better results. It does not seem to be harsh on the plants at all though. Received my goodies, will apply them tonight.1 point

All 3 of the Headbangers smell similar but not the same, I'm on round 2 with this carbon filter and smell is leaking I think this might turn out very pungent Buds are dense and plants not too tall or short I am happy with the seed no complaints here however only when I smoke them I will know if I have a keeper or not. I've pollinated all 3 with Headbanger #8 male and also pollinated a sage n sour female. I'll try to post some bud shots when I harvest1 point

I used 0.6ml per L which equates to 6ml per 10l, inline with the pamphlet. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

Update: The ladies are taking over the tent. I made a decision to switch T3 to GHE Bloom nutrients. She's only had one dose so far and still looking good. T1 and T2 are still on the organic Budding Genius nutrients range.1 point

Got an update on the Tortoni F1's, this will be the update in anticipation for the harvest at the end of the month, or at least that's what I'm hoping. Frankly I will want a good all-round consensus here before doing any chopping of the Tortoni's. The ZxP's I've got running alongside have consistently been good to go after 8 weeks flower which will be exactly on the 1st August, and they are looking mighty delicious, but they are not the point of the thread. I've moved the plants around a bit to keep the similar sized plants together so they get relatively the same amount of light, so they will seem out of place from the last update but I am going to post the plants in the same order to keep some consistency. T#10 T#5 T#9 T#6 T#8 They all look so damn good I've actually decided to choose two to keep instead of just one, seeing as some variety is popping up. I am loving the colour coming out of T#9 and the bulbs on T#8 are looking real good too. The shortees T#5 and T#10 are looking mighty green still. T#6 is looking to be the most in the middle out of all the others. Unfortunately I can't really comment on the terpenes or smells because I've been in a light battle with the Rona and my sense of taste and smell has been kinda fucky for some time now, but it's slowly coming back so hopefully I can make some comments on that closer to harvest time.1 point
