Howzit people. I got hold of some sundew seeds (Dorsera Capensis). Fascinating plant specie. Seems like quite a mission to grow but i'm amped! Thinking of using them, once matured, to catch those damn fungus gnats that's been bugging me. They detect and absorb nitrogen from insects that get stuck on their sticky tenticles (looks exactly like trichomes). They get all their nutrients this way and uptake nothing from their roots. This specie is indigenous to the Western Cape. Why don't carnivorous plant species get used more often to assist in pest management?4 points

10 days or so since changing lights back to veg mode. The lights have been on 24hrs to help combat the cold but will be set on 18/6 from today. Lights are 400mm above plants at the moment. Looking at these beauties I wish I could dial the clock back. I'm in two minds on flipping to flower next Sunday which will be shy of 3 weeks of re-vegging. I'll probably do it anyways.4 points

Week 9 Update / Flower Week 3 There was an explosion of growth this week although the bud development seems to be a little behind. Don't know if it's the cold, or something else but it just seems a little more delayed than usual. There are definitive signs of flowering albeit slower on the bud development side. Besides that they look really healthy and full and I'm looking forward to seeing them bloom:4 points

Quick update, so 1 of my plants seems to be trucking along after my cockup. Onwards and upwards hahah. Watered with ph water and will leave it there for now4 points

Update: Week 4 of flower First signs of pistils :). I thought they'd be a bit further along by now, but at least they are looking really healthy. And some pics to show scale, quite a burst of growth over the last week. The issues I had at the start seem to be entirely resolved now, though its probably why the plants are not as far along as some now. Still its been really great to see them recover so well. One thing I forgot to mention when I repotted. I also repotted some of my mother plants for the first time in a long time. It was amazing to see the difference between the roots in fabric pots vs plastic. The plastic ones were all root bound, the fabric pots showed almost no signs of it, nice solid root balls all the way though. I know that is the theory but fun to see :) Hope everyone and their plants are surviving the cold this week3 points

Morning folks. Day 53 of flower and I took out the ladies for some inspection and feedingone thing that really stands out for me is the fact that it seems the clones are maturing quicker than the mother plants? Pride and joy currently in the clone stable is the Palomino. I love the fact that the sugar leaves are cupping with excessive trichome. Just looks beautiful.3 points

Week 3 of flower, pulled lots of leaves yesterday. I feel as they they are somewhat behind, maybe a lag somewhere along the line. Will postpone feed to tomorrow if that, might leave it another week. Happy so far, not sure how much stretch is left.3 points

Day 56. Last update before harvesting GZ this week. The top buds look so much more ripe then the bottom ones, I considered harvesting them separately but I think I'll just leave the whole plant for 4-5 more days. Low night temperatures making everything go dark purple, lowest so far has been 13.6 degrees. Lemon cheese: Gorilla zkittlez:2 points

Tent 1 is fully loaded with autos for a last cross before the outdoor season starts, now lets hope to get a ton of hybrids. There are a bunch of these weedlings with purple stems. Will get really crowded soon. Crossing my Strawberry Vostok auto males with Cinderella Jack, strawberry cheesecake and lemon larry og. So playing with the names the cinderella jack cross could be called Anastasia 99 auto and the Strawberry Cheesecake cross could be called like Moscow Cheesecake or something? Tent 2 Is purely for smoking and being grown be my brother. Exited to push some local Totemic Genetics. Ghost Train haze x Slurricane sounds like a winner and was gifted to me. Ordered strawberry delux too.2 points

What's up dude. Great idea man. I'm also super into the whole remote control thing. I'm still abit of a noob but I manage a few simple things using sonoff switches. They're great. Have had really good success with them. I could be 300km away working and I could monitor some of the basic elements of a perpetual grow. 1) I use a sonoff switch and temp gauge to monitor the temp in my propagation chamber. It switches a heating pad on and off. I keep it at 20 - 24 Celsius. All the little clones love it. Helps alot in the cold winters. 2) I use a sonoff switch, humidity gauge and an extractor fan to control my humidity in both my flowering and vegging tents. Each having their own switch, humidity sensor and extractor. I use a humidifier in the vegetative/mother tent to keep humidity nice and high and then the sonoff will switch the extractor on and off, keeping it at about 65% humidity. The flowering tent has no humidifier and the switch puts the extractor on and off keeping the humidity at 45-55% humidity. Depending on where in the cycle the flowers are. And all these sonoff switches are pretty smart. Known as smart switches. They keep logs of when they switch on and off. You can also remotely change parameters. It's really great.2 points

Zimbabwe recently scrapped rules requiring sole state ownership for cannabis farming to encourage investment in the plant for industrial and medicinal uses. Zimbabwe is Africa's largest tobacco producer, but authorities expect hemp export earnings to start replacing tobacco as farmers seek higher earnings from the crop. Farmer Jesper Kirk has been growing mainly tobacco since he moved to a 250-hectare farm five years ago. He now plans to increase his hectarage of hemp, a type of cannabis plant that has very low levels of THC — the intoxicating substance in marijuana — when the growing season begins in a few months. "I went for hemp because it is an export crop,” he said. “Much more reliable market. Whereas, for example potatoes, local market crop is a little more unstable market in terms of the number of people growing it. So, I wanted a slightly stable market in terms of demand." About five years ago, Zimbabwe Industrial Hemp Trust led experiments raising cannabis and the project has spread to several parts of Zimbabwe. The trust is providing technical assistance and looking for markets for farmers, said the group’s head, Dr. Zorodzai Maroveke. She said Zimbabwe is making a smart choice with cannabis, since the tobacco market is shrinking because of anti-smoking campaigns. "It’s most relevant now considering the threat that the tobacco industry faces and knowing very well that Zimbabwe heavily depends on tobacco production,” she said. “It’s relevant that our economy has to start looking for alternatives. And I think industrial hemp tops the list. It's a green crop and there is a lot of social impact in comparison to tobacco. I think in 10 years you will see the value chains that will come out of this sector are way more than tobacco." While Kirk is thinking of exporting his crop, Walter Ruprecht has used some hemp produced by farmers this year to produce paper. He said cannabis has a lot of potential for Zimbabwe, both for industrial and even medicinal use. “The advantages are that it is obviously going to create thousands of jobs in the farming areas, just like what tobacco has done for decades,” he said. “Hemp has many advantages for its medicinal interests at the moment. However, there are other composites that can be available that it can be used such as textiles, pulp and paper. It’s a nitrogen supplement to the soil, it eliminates weeds. It has so many advantages to the small farmers and of course the value chains, which stretches to hundreds of thousands of dollars of opportunities." The global cannabis industry is expected to be a $46 billion business worldwide in three years — up from $16.47 billion this year, said Tino Kambasha of the Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency. “So, it's a market that is growing fast and we think it’s going to be a game-changer for this country,” Kambasha said. “And Zimbabwe has gone a little step further to show that it is willing work with its partners and investors. By coming up with an investor agreement which further protects you against anything like expropriation and change or changes in law, which is quite great." Because of the new cannabis regulations, Kambasha added, Zimbabwe has attracted investors from the U.S., Britain, Germany, Switzerland and other countries. That might be a needed shot in the arm for Zimbabwe’s economy, which has been stuck in the doldrums for more than 20 years Article Taken From Anther Source1 point

Sonoff's are excellent and affordable! I just wish they could save data for you to be able to view over period of time. @Autoflow3rif you could write a script that saves the sonoff data somehow I'm sure you could make some money.1 point

Something must be up with your environment to do with light... Perhaps a light leak or the light cycle is too long? I'm trying to understand why the genetics are doing that in your space...1 point

Goodmorning, Sir! Looking goooood I think it's not likely for only one part of one leaf to turn purple when cold is the only factor, so I think it's a bit of both here, looks like either deficiency or a ph problem not allowing uptake of a certain nute, the leaf is showing it and now because the leaf is compromised it's more susceptible to environmental factors such as the cold. just keep an eye on her, no stress yet, could be that the rest of the plant still turns purple, then it's the cold, but if growth slows down and odd discolouration continues you might wana ask yourself where it could've been that you either gave too much or too little of something.1 point

Mine are also taking forever to start flowering. Pistols only starting now as well, but they also had a rough flip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Think its a great idea. Was looking at the Xiaomi ( Loot sent a mail about stocking them) products yesterday for home automation, I look at automation crap quiet often when I have smoked too much, dream, plan etc, never really bought into yet, but its coming. They seem affordable, wide range of local products available and lots that have not been shipped here. I am personally looking at it for a better security system, with a little household automation. They also cross-compatible with other hardware and have stuffs that I dont understand as yet. Funny enough this week an old contact is also taking me through their proprietary seed to sale software, www.growtrack.io ,which has already made a name for itself in Lesotho to help automate the cultivation process.1 point

So the plants were in flower for 10 when I decided to put them back into veg. That puts them at 11 days in reveg now. Anyways I haven't given the plants a good inspection for some time and today I spotted these. Is this leftovers from going into flower or something else? Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk1 point
