4 1/2 weeks into flower - Things are getting a bit rough out here, but I think we still got everything under control. The plants are fading super fast so I gave 2,5ml p/l of fish hydrolysate. Then I noticed during the weekend that the medium is super saturated, so I turned the blumat down a tad, could also be the reason for the fading. Overwatering can look like a multitude of symptoms. On the up side noticed these nugs are really putting on some girth which is nice.12 points

Aug 4 Day 82 of the grow Day 32 of 12/12... 3 days away from half way to Valhalla? For the readers with OCD wondering why I don't have the plants in numerical order... your time has come. From left to right: 1, 2 and 3. Ninja cam view- left to right: 3, 2, 1. Last night they got watered with some worm tea. Worms have been munching avo for a month so this is like worm tea that went to private school. Started at 10ml per 1L water and will up strength to 15ml and 20ml per 1L water assuming no adverse reaction. #1 - frostylocks - definitely the frostiest of the 3 at this point: #2 the runt of the 3 however bud development picking up here too. Besides the purple leaves, this plant is generally a lighter shade of green than #1 & #3. #3 doing her thing. Pistils on one of the heads have started going orange8 points

The tent main inliners run 24/7.. I used 4 of those consuming 159 watts each. You get those in more or less every grow shop.. worst product you can use ^^ they consume a lot more energy as the silent inliners I replaced em with... just cost 50% of the TD-500. The silent inliners pay back within 6 months... with Eskom getting more and more expensive.. that time duration shrinks with any other Eskom price hike. Beside, you can easy speak in the grow area.. isn't possible with 4 of the black ones... sounds like a Turbine factory. The TD500 consume 51 watts on medium speed. Yes, little less air moved by the silent ones.. but consuming 1/3 is a huge reduction in power consumption. I have 6 TD-500 running in my grow flat. 306 watts 24/7 draw now.. compared with 738 watts on the old setup (4 old inliners and 2 TD-500). With 6 of the old ones, I would stand at 954 watts constant draw. Huge difference in consumption.7 points

Soo, some friends and I were discussing mixing of the GHE / TA TriPart nutes. One mentioned they were told to add the Micro last. The Grow Guru website states to add the Micro first. I personally never paid much attention to the order I mixed the nutes into the water in, so I decided to reach out to GHE (now Terra Aquatica) to see what they have to say and this is the response I received from them. A bit different to what my friend was told years ago and to what Grow Guru say. Personally, I'd rather follow the advice from TA directly as they're the ones who make the nutes and should hopefully know the best way to mix it. I think this might make more of a difference to some of the other 3 part nutrient mixes as they may not chelate the nutes the same etc. Thought I'd share this with everyone EDIT: A few minutes after I posted this thread, I got another response from someone else at TA stating the following. So a bit contradicting, but William states the order is not important as long as you mix it well before adding the rest of the nutes. He prefers to use the micro first. I mix it in whatever order I feel like on the day, never noticed issues to be honest.5 points

Good day fellow tokers and smokers. Just recently one of my carbon filters started leaking alot of beautiful smells out of the flowering tent. I love the smells but probably better keeping it hidden from greedy fingers. I use a fairly large 8" (20cm) fan and carbon filter in a 1.2m tent. It might sound like overkill but it's for future upgrades, which should happen this year still. Anyway. So I went and asked around, googled and didn't find too much info on refilling carbon filters etc. Usually it's either just wash the outside cover or buy a new one. So I decided to dive into it and get it done. So the carbon filter I have costs a little over R3000 at some places for a new one. Abit expensive to replace every year me thinks. I didn't have to buy anything except the activated carbon which is also a tricky one. It's sold here and there but I happened to know of a water filter place that sold activated carbon not far from where I stay. I paid R900 for 25kg of activated carbon (I did find a video or two on how to reactivate the carbon through a process which included washing and baking it etc. The only baking I do is on my couch.) So with the new activated carbon ready it was time to take down the filter, and let the house smell like a dispensary for a while (extremely nice working conditions). I took off the outer layer which was then washed in the washing machine. No issues with it getting ripped apart. I think it was just a gentle setting or something. Either way, hand wash will also work. (Dirty outer cover, clean pic at the end) Once the outer material layer was removed and in the wash, I stood up the filter with the closed side at the bottom. I saw there were four screws on either side of the filter. We will be working just from one side (the open side) and there is no reason then to open the bottom. After removing the 4 screws I was able to remove the metal cover. Underneath the metal cover is another black plastic cover that is pop-rivetted to the outer metal casing of the filter. Using a drill and a 3mm bit I drilled through the 4 pop-rivets and then was able to remove the black plastic covering. I wasn't gentle enough and tore a little bit of the material on the inside when removing the pop-rivets but it wasn't too bad. Once all my covers were removed I was able to see the carbon that was on the inside. I dumped it all out into a bag. Now I know that you get granules, pellets, coconut based and all these different kinds of carbon but I'm not going to get into which is better and all that rubbish. I noticed that the activated carbon I bought from the water filter place was about a 1/4 of the size of the granules I found in the filter. But that doesn't matter. I'm sure the more surface area there is the more it helps absorb the smells. So once everything was dumped out I left the material and the outer metal filter attached to the base and was able to remove the inner metal filter. I never knew until I opened it that it was covered in a very thin white material that was stuck to the inner metal filter. I decided to give it a rinse with the hosepipe trying not to rip it apart. It was quite dirty and I managed to get it nice and clean. I tried an airhose but mine was from a vehicle so didn't have good constant air pressure. Sure either way will work. After I had given the inner filter a wash and let it dry in the Sun for an hour or two, I then put it back in it's place in the centre of the filter. I continued to then fill up the the filter with the new activated carbon. I didn't want to mess on the inside of the filter so I just cut out a cardboard circle to cover the big main hole. Looking back you could mess in there and once it's all put back together you could just turn it over and all the excess will dump out. Im full of shit so didn't mess around from point one. I tucked the black material mesh just over the edges of the inner metal filter to keep everything in place once it was filled. You have to fill it right to the top otherwise you will have big open spaces at the top of your filter when hung. I then got two old socks (blue and not stinky) and used those as a replacement for the little bit of foam I might have torn. I dumped the torn foam in there too creating a nice tight seal. Once filled I put back the black plastic cover and lined it up with the old pop rivet holes and plugged it with 4 new pop rivets. (Notice the blue sock) I then just put the metal casing back on and put the 4 screws back where they were and poof. Done. Now I just put the nice clean washed out material filter back on and she looks brand spanking new. I used about 1/3 to a 1/2 of the activated carbon which means I only used about R450 to get my filter brand new. So far no smells but will see how long it lasts. When I bought it new it managed just shy of a year with no smells. Will see how long this one lasts. Thanks for watching.4 points

The way I know it is in the order Micro, Grow and then Bloom. If there is calmag involved that usually goes first as far as I know. The most import rule I remember is to not premix the nutes before putting it in water. Here's a GHE video: Note: I undestand this is before T.A. took over the brand/line/range so not sure if they think differently. Well......they don't really know......according to their responses.3 points

Yip anything goes, no theme. It's advised that if you're gonna post a bud shot, make sure it's a special one. The quality of the image is more important than the quality of the bud/plant3 points

Utilizing the latest evidence and investigations, this series promises to present new information in a hunt for the truth about infamous, iconic monsters and their origins. It features eyewitness accounts and all-new stories while unveiling eye-opening theories about these nightmarish beasts. Wowzers what an intro! I'm intrigued if I may say so myself. That, however, is actually the description from IMDB for the TV program In Search Of Monsters but it seems appropriate here. I'm looking to grow a monster of a tree that could serve as a Christmas tree at the end of the year if things go well. This journal will document the journey. So the game plan is to take one of the Tortoni clones in the veg tent outside when the sun comes around in Spring, with a headstart into veg. End goal is a 200L pot and have 10L, 15L, 20L, 30L and 80L options to get me there. 80L is the biggest I've grown in so this could/should be a personal best for me in terms of growing a tree, especially with the headstart. In the veg tent, we have our clones: 12 Tortoni's - I took 6 cuttings each from Tortoni #1 & #3 from the 2021 indoor grow-off. Despite my noobness at cloning and it getting pretty cold at times I somehow have all 12 cuts alive, albeit to varying degrees of strength. I'll take that as a win, and beginners luck but I'm sure it actually has a lot to do with working with quality material. Something about these @Totemicgenetics having an incredibly strong desire to live - kudos where it is due Biggest plant you see here at the moment, right-centre in this pic is a Critical Churchill seed I had left lying around. The rest are the Tortoni clones. Those 3 in black single plastic pots in the tray were the first to root and are clearly the most developed of the clones at this point. But that's where we are starting from and going to. Thank you in advance to anyone who offers their insights, tips and suggestions2 points

@Mr.Kaneh You gotta grow it out to see what you get. Some breeders are more trusted than others. People have their preferences as well. This discussion has been had a few times as well. I personally try avoid the dutch / EU seeds, especially the cheaper ones. You may get a few diamonds, there may be some strains which they sell which are good but I feel there are better, safer bets out there in terms of spending money on seeds. Budget also plays a role, not everyone wants to spend a couple thousand on a pack of seeds and I can fully understand that. There are good budget options out there as well. @Totemic has some very well priced seeds, Ripper Seeds as well as Worlds Strongest Strains also have decent stuff I feel. Not every strain or pack of seeds will be great though. Also just because a pack of seeds is expensive does not mean it will be great either.2 points

Soaked the Lemon OG Haze beans and the first popped after 20 hours. So far all good I hope they are as lemon as the description promises If you are a local breeder and have very clean fruit tasting profile in your creation(s).. please let me know, I would like to buy some of those beans and test.. clear fruit tastes, Lemon, Strawberry, Passionfruit, Banana, .... what ever you have and can be identified as a clear and distinguished fruit.2 points

Depends when you switched bru. 7 September is judging date for those who switched after the soft switch deadline. They don't have to switch then but their plants will be judged on that date. If you switched before 3 July you grow out till you think the plants are ready for harvest, no deadline.2 points

Thanks, I was also surprised when I picked up the cube. It will be 3 weeks by tomorrow. I took the dome off after 1 week and then start with the foliars. I diluted a couple of drops of dip and root into a glass and let them soak it up for 10 minutes before they go into the Rockwool.1 point
