  4. Tonight I used the Wood Vinegar, Plants, 1, 2, and 5 weeks into flowering. Smell of the product is good, unlike Neem or Sulfur, and I almost instantly feel hungry now, but not for for any old food, I crave smoked meats I'm not expecting any issues when I view the girls tomorrow, and will report back after their first dose.

  5. Day 6 of Week 13 Update They got both 2 liter 1/3/4 (Fish Mix/Bloom/Top Max per liter) and 4ml Amino Boost per 10 liter. Also gave the plants a Serenade spray.. they need a bit clean up ^^ Not very resistant to PM. Tarryn Sisa

  6. Epsom salts is not for treating Calcium deficiency. It’s Magnesium Sulphate, made up of Magnesium, Sulphur and Oxygen.

  7. They got their last neem spray tonight.. With lights off Their last sulpher spray.. From next week, if needed. I will continue with Serenade.. Soaked them with some microbes and kelp water and took some more fans that was in the way.. Had to sacrifice two branches that was going to cause issues later on and they are sure sticky and smelly.. Some update pics.. Safe weekend to all traveling to the GardenRoute for the Expo and be safe guys and gals..

  10. @PsyCLown these are great insights regarding wood vinegar. Perhaps we should put up a separate post on wood vinegar so as not to go too off-topic here... Meanwhile, it is very important that one: - only uses bamboo / reed or oak when making wood vinegar - distills the wood vinegar properly Raw wood vinegar will separate out into 3 layers. The bottom layer generally has most of the wood tar, which we use as a wood preservative and to seal wood. The Vikings sealed their boats with pine tar made in the same way. The top layer contains any terpenes which may be carried in the wood. This is why bamboo and/or oak are preferred. Pine contains pinene, which is not great for other plants, even though pinene is also a cannabis terpene. We only collect and sell the pure, distilled middle layer. We have had quite good success with using wood vinegar on a range of plants, including cannabis. However, I am grateful that someone as dedicated as @The_StonedTrooper is also testing it thoroughly now.

  11. For foliar Epsom, I would go no more than 1/2-1 tsp per 5L. So I bought some small baking scoops, they come in 1ml / 2,5ml. They graft well, ill fill the 1ml and smash a 1L spray bottle.

  13. Aug 4 Day 82 of the grow Day 32 of 12/12... 3 days away from half way to Valhalla? For the readers with OCD wondering why I don't have the plants in numerical order... your time has come. From left to right: 1, 2 and 3. Ninja cam view- left to right: 3, 2, 1. Last night they got watered with some worm tea. Worms have been munching avo for a month so this is like worm tea that went to private school. Started at 10ml per 1L water and will up strength to 15ml and 20ml per 1L water assuming no adverse reaction. #1 - frostylocks - definitely the frostiest of the 3 at this point: #2 the runt of the 3 however bud development picking up here too. Besides the purple leaves, this plant is generally a lighter shade of green than #1 & #3. #3 doing her thing. Pistils on one of the heads have started going orange

  14. A small set back for the organiser/s of the Garden Route Cannabis Festival. All the damn sample packages for the judges were confiscated and Leon Meyer was put into holding cells for 2 nights before he was released. The show will go on. Probably leaving tomorrow for a slow toke down stream to the Canna Cup, so catch you guys next week. Stay safe. he

  15. Utilizing the latest evidence and investigations, this series promises to present new information in a hunt for the truth about infamous, iconic monsters and their origins. It features eyewitness accounts and all-new stories while unveiling eye-opening theories about these nightmarish beasts. Wowzers what an intro! I'm intrigued if I may say so myself. That, however, is actually the description from IMDB for the TV program In Search Of Monsters but it seems appropriate here. I'm looking to grow a monster of a tree that could serve as a Christmas tree at the end of the year if things go well. This journal will document the journey. So the game plan is to take one of the Tortoni clones in the veg tent outside when the sun comes around in Spring, with a headstart into veg. End goal is a 200L pot and have 10L, 15L, 20L, 30L and 80L options to get me there. 80L is the biggest I've grown in so this could/should be a personal best for me in terms of growing a tree, especially with the headstart. In the veg tent, we have our clones: 12 Tortoni's - I took 6 cuttings each from Tortoni #1 & #3 from the 2021 indoor grow-off. Despite my noobness at cloning and it getting pretty cold at times I somehow have all 12 cuts alive, albeit to varying degrees of strength. I'll take that as a win, and beginners luck but I'm sure it actually has a lot to do with working with quality material. Something about these @Totemicgenetics having an incredibly strong desire to live - kudos where it is due Biggest plant you see here at the moment, right-centre in this pic is a Critical Churchill seed I had left lying around. The rest are the Tortoni clones. Those 3 in black single plastic pots in the tray were the first to root and are clearly the most developed of the clones at this point. But that's where we are starting from and going to. Thank you in advance to anyone who offers their insights, tips and suggestions

  18. Eish, until the plants get burnt... again. I've been there and done that. Burnt plants from sprays which are meant to help is no fun. As long as you keep it on the lower side, shouldn't be too much of an issue. If you get burnt plants, it's a lesson and do not go that strong again.

  19. Remember I am using a combination of things, including Beauveria Bassiana and Metarhizium to help get rid of the root aphids. Both of these are fungus which work for killing pests as well. The fungus is the pesticide in this case, along with some neem and spinosad which do not affect the fungus. If it was just trichoderma and/or mycorrhizal fungi, then sure. Getting rid of pests would be more important than keeping the fungi alive. Although, how effective is it at getting rid of pests? @The_StonedTrooper I think for this findings you may need to go out of your way to get some pests, to test it out on. lol Thrips, spider mites maybe even some aphids if you can find. No clue where you'd find said pests though.

  20. I will most certainly do a findings thread, for the Wood Vinegar. The flower room will be getting this spray only, and will see what unfolds. For the root aphids, yes you might hamper the growth or life of the fungal bacteria in the soil, although we cant be sure how much, and as this is also a soil conditioner, it cant be all that damaging. You'd have to decide I guess, what is more important, killing the root aphids, probably some fungi and having a harvest, or the opposite. Which is worse? Would it even help? My preferred test method will be for foliage spray and not for the soil.

  26. Sjoe, a tall order, but will see what I can do. Thrips, I have on and off, and PM is always a issue in flowering, and wanted a safe tool. But what I really am looking forward to is, the increase in size and quality or flower, flavor and taste of my harvest. All while maintaining a good IPM, and that means you should never get infections. Proof will be in the proverbial pudding (Baklava) Only time I ever got aphids, was when I put my plants pot, on the grass outside and not the pavement, but will be running some outdoor plants this season and see if I can keep them pests at bay.

  27. I think I used it at around 0.2 to 0.3 EC, but I only did it once or twice. @CreX What EC or PPM do you do your CalMag foliar at and perhaps any advice on the best way to use it? Epsom Salts is Magnesium, CalMag is Calcium & Magnesium with some Nitrogen - so do not go too heavy on the CalMag foliar IMO.

  28. Hey man. What is the ratio of Epsom Salts foliar to be used for cal mag deficiency?

  29. Yip anything goes, no theme. It's advised that if you're gonna post a bud shot, make sure it's a special one. The quality of the image is more important than the quality of the bud/plant

  30. Depends when you switched bru. 7 September is judging date for those who switched after the soft switch deadline. They don't have to switch then but their plants will be judged on that date. If you switched before 3 July you grow out till you think the plants are ready for harvest, no deadline.

  34. Space has always been an issue. Less so now than a few years ago, but I've always tried to compensate for this by making arrangements with local growers around me, and I have patches of 50 here and patches of 100 there With the polyhybrids I have expanded the gene pool I can work with tremendously. There will be countless new pheno expressions as I take each line to F2 and on I'm not focused on any single trait, rather looking for anything that is a positive step forward.

  35. Hey man, My history with plant breeding predates breeding cannabis, and I used to work with pepper plants. I started growing cannabis 2010, and by 2012 started tinkering with breeding, with limited success, as I was working with landrace bag seeds. By end 2013 though I had settled very seriously into breeding my Chocolope NL line, and spent a few years just working that one line, really getting to know it. I made a few other crosses in that time too, but they never got the attention the CNL did. Started out crossing the CNL line in 2018. Also started making feminized seeds in 2018, and applying what I've learnt over the years to other strains. Last year I decided that im taking it to another challenging level, to create a few poly hybrids to navigate what those lines will bring to possible backcrosses onto both my CNL and Chocolate Gelato lines.

  38. Today was a long plant day for me. Finally sure on sex, and one of the girls is actually a he... Transplanted to 15l. Back on a veg cycle for 2 to 3 weeks for the roots to just fill the pots a bit. I'll then be cloning them all, and flipping then. I've also split the girls into the different pheno groups that are emerging. Group 2 and 3 are the groups I'm mainly interested in. The males are all really interesting, but I've chosen one that has the most uniform node development, representing in group 2 and 3. I'm taking clones of the other males too and will keep them around a while. The chosen male Group 2 and 3 females The 4 males that are not making the cut. They are off to new homes.

  42. That's why I'm documenting my grows as best I can. You can be sure I'll be posting up logs for each generation I work on. Taking a new cross and turning it into a strain.

  43. The difference visually when comparing an F3 population to the next f4 population is astounding. F4 you hit a stable output for whatever you were selecting. F4 is a sweet spot. F2 and F3 are still unstable. From F5 you start trading vigor for stability.
