  1. Day 85 38 of 12/12 Nothing exiting this week just insane smell and added a little weight
    12 points
  2. Mid week and almost at number 6, So I think week 6 the plants will start bulking up, been a bit slow, but I always say that. I attribute the slowness to the cold and then the medium was too wet for my liking. Now the soil is drying up slowly. And I still have not plugged in the heater. Ill do that this afternoon, would like to plug it on the sonoff because it can get warm in the days. You may have seen a bit of the dreaded PM, its a bit unforgiving here with 95% the usual. So sprayed a bit of ECO budz disease control. On the upside, its definitely getting better from my observation. other than that, small signs of clayxs poofing up.

  3. So atm I am seeing a purpling of the plants. Day 43 of flower. It's a very sweet smell. And some how I feel like the one pheno has got the Chocolope bud structure but I may be wrong. I may flower a week or 2 longer.

  4. Finally got around to putting my sticker up, guess it’s finally official. Flowers are continuing getting bigger and the stacking is starting, especially on #1 Close ups of the structure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Flower Day 41 My humblest apologies for this very late update. Things have been very busy outside the grow room with work, family over and such. A deficiency started to creep in since my last update and fan leaves began to yellow from the bottom up. All 3 showed the issue in sync which to me maybe suggests that I did something wrong that previous watering... perhaps that unfermented beer idea backfired and threw PH off perhaps, who knows.... won't do that again then... anyway it looked like a clear Mg def to me so reached for the Epsom salts on a watering a few days ago and they seem to be responding well to it. Tonight I watered with coconut water for an added boost. Top dressed with a bit of alfalfa as well. Tortoni #2 is still looking the best and she is starting a decent stack (pictured far left below). She is developing the tightest nugs of the 3 so far no doubt and from a preliminary guess she looks like she'll finish sooner than the other 2. The other 2 seem to be putting out more sativa-like buds, especially #3 (far right). I haven't checked other guys diaries in a while so if no one is else is seeing buds like this then there must be other factors that have caused it. #1 does look like she is just about to put on a lot more weight though... Tortoni #2 Tortoni #1 Tortoni #3 Cheers for now!

  6. Little update. Short of a week into flower and still happy. Pics in no particular order.

  7. Started with a few seeds around 2 weeks ago, 4 of them. All bag seed. Along with a bunch of equipment, I received 3 fresh seedlings of In-House genetics "Deluxe Sugarcane". All 7 seedlings currently under 1 x QB-75 from GrowOpz (32cm above tallest plant), 18/6 cycle in the tent. Soil being used is called "420 Mix" by 3Sixty. Only feeding I have done was for the soil - Biodyne Environoc 1ml/L given for the first time with last watering. Pots seem to be holding water for 2/3 days at a time. I'll post the back log of photo's here, the 3 bigger girls in the middle are the Deluxe seeds, the other 4 are mystery seeds. Please comment, good, bad, happy, sad, all welcome. I'm a fast learner and eager to learn, I look forward to it! (Picture taken Yesterday 10/08)

  9. I've been lurking around the corners of this group for most of the day like some crazy uncle at a kiddies birthday party. @CreX lead me here after I asked him about grow diaries. This, after a week and a half of paranoid questions and lengthy discussions on growing Married-Iguana's (I may have the spelling wrong). When he mentioned he was a moderator of the site I thought I had fallen victim to yet another proudly South African Marketing gimmick. I have just started my first grow, got my entire setup from a friend who's immigrating, the shit I've smoked out of this tent gives me hope, my lack of green thumbs and knowledge of photosynthesis leads me here. A group of black belts in the art of growing the things I smoke, in tents, under expensive lights. *Your plants look amazing, guys* The name is Martin, and it's a pleasure to be here. I look forward to the "Haha" reactions and the "Don't do that again"comments. Cheers.

  11. From another view point regarding spending for soil, if you trade indoor bud for money( against the law) then it's between 2-3 grams if I remember the prices right. You will most definitely get more yield than that 2-3 grams if you do a tried and tested consistent soil . It's well worth it buddy. I never skimp on soil [emoji39] Sent from my Hisense Infinity H50 using Tapatalk

  12. hahahah there you get some convincing already! you know everyone uses it, how much more convincing do you need hahah yeah no honestly the biggest thing for me about FF is the consistency, I have tried a few different brands and I keep coming back to FF simply because each time the next best thing comes along everyone tries it untill someone runs into a hot batch or something, I've heard a lot of soils are more attractive breeding grounds for unwanted fungus gnats and soil dwellers that you dont want, specially with soils that contain bark. trust us, joooooiiin uuuuss I like what @donnob said, the difference in your yield wild be worth waaayy more than the R70

  13. @Martin7318 Welcome to the forum. Growing can be much cheaper than paying for bud, can also be a lot more rewarding but unfortunately indoor does cost money. Especially when you want to do it right. You already have a lot of the expensive stuff. It is well worth spending ab it more and getting proper stuff which is tried and tested and works well and will give you the results you want. Cheap out on certain things and you will suffer, which can lead to you being demotivated and not wanting to grow anymore - not to mention all the time (time is money) wasted and the hassle of trying to deal with the issues which arise from trying to cheap out on certain things. Freedom Farms and Organics Matter are both good soils, spending R200 on a bag of soil is well worth it compared to trying to use some cheaper soils or some which are not tired and tested and having the health of your plants take a nose dive, which leads to lower yield and bud which could have been better. A grow from seed / clone to bud takes at least 5 months. If 5 months of your life is not worth R200, I don't know what to say I myself like to save money and will often view multiple angles to see if or how I can save some bucks, the same applies to my growing - but I have learn that sometimes you just need to spend the money and it is well worth it. If you want to use cheaper medium, then consider hydro or coco. Hydro will require a learning curve and some additional equipment, coco is a lot closer to soil - has it's own set of pros and cons. @CreX and I both grow in coco. With coco you can buy 5KG bricks and take the time and effort to expand it and buffer it yourself and save some money, or buy some BioLeaf which is ready made and cheaper than soil (For R199 you get 60L versus 30L of soil from Freedom Farms & Organics Matter).

  14. Hey @Martin7318, welcome to our glorious family! Plenty of mistakes have already been made on your behalf so just plug in and play. By the time you're convinced you'd have spent well over R70 and lost valuable grow time in tried and tested soil. The medium is where you can't skimp and have to give that extra attention because at the end of the day that is literally the lifeblood of your magic plant. In the grand scheme of things, a good soil will give you a happier plant and a happier plant will give you a bigger yield, a difference in yield worth way more than R70

  15. 9th of August Some good growth in the last 6 days I'd say, Deluxe seeds looking good! It was the watering the night before where I added the Environoc. Bag seeds growing much slower but progress still.

  17. Thanks for the warm welcome, definitely seems I've found my new lurking grounds! I've got 280w total GrowOpz LED lighting (2x QB-75 + 1x QB-130) 120x60x180 Mars Hydro Grow tent 6" Inline Exhaust fan with ducting 2 x Clip fans for circulation. Currently have 7 seedlings as pictured, they're all under 1 of the QB-75 lights The 3 bigger girls in the center are Deluxe Sugarcane seeds from In-House genetics (Germinated by previous equipment owner). The other 4 were germination experiments (I expected some to fail but got 100% success there), these will most likely end up as gifts or moving outside. I got some BioBizz nutrients with the lot so I will be using those first time around, I have not started with any feeding yet. Just PH water and a few blown kisses every day. Not sure what else to include here, but yeah, pretty much sums it up.

  20. What an epic weekend, meeting old and new cannabis activists and sharing cannabis culture together. Hard to express the feelings experienced and to be honest it was a very smokey hazey weekend from sunrise to the early hours of the morning. There were about 10 prizes for the growers cup entries, and the overall winner was such a gentleman on top of his craft. Turns out it was a team of two, judges only found out names a couple hours before the announcing of the winners. About 28 strains in total to go through. The winner, Cannaporium from Knysna, took the overall cup with their indoor hydro mandarin cookies. Deon below came to enjoy the festivities the day after the win and we partied and managed to get some pictures with him and his cup. Aaptwak, speed roller 3.2 seconds, had an exciting rolling competition on the final day. I entered my first rolling comp and shaved off 4 seconds off my time. I was hoping to break 10 seconds and did my best kingsize roll at 7.6 seconds, coming in second. RastaOne from Knysna took the belt and title for a 6.5 second roll and his brother came in 3rd. Looking forward to next years event, bigger and better. The old oppikoppis were madness, I barely remember my one attendance. Any of you guys ever go to the Woodstock festival in JHB, they stopped about 14 years ago. The last one was insane in the membrane, police, busts, weed, reggae, hemp and the very stealth cannabis cup on another farm. Mad times, sitting in the rain chatting with a dude coming down from LSD, packing up tents.

  21. whats up growmies! i have left my phone somewhere and my pics are on the phone for the update. i think its at home so ill check it tonight - and add pics lol flowering development is coming along well... but my lady seems to have gone into a bit of a reveg or something? i did my due diligence and climbed inside my tent and zipped it up and there are no light leaks at all, its pitch black in there.so i am not sure why she is doing that. none of my other flowers are doing it either so really not sure!! pics to follow tonight - keep it real!

  22. only a pleasure with the experimental plants being bag seed they might turn out male, so just keep an eye on that. best for them would be to wait till about 3 sets of true leaves then "pre-sex" them by placing them in a 12/12 light cycle to see what sex they are, males get culled females go back into veg with the rest. if you veg them till they big you gona waste space, time and money. unless you want a big male. that 420mix, who makes it? Is it that 3sixty stuff? I haven't heard too much about it, but still would suggest going for FreedomFarms Premium Classic next time you buy for when you pot up. with it being in a living soil I am assuming you gona go with organic nutrients? that Environoc was the right move, you added some microbes to the soil, they'll form a win win relationship with the roots of the plants and the soil. they "eat" organic compounds that the plant can't break down itself yet, and they "poop" out stuff your plant can uptake. basically... now you gotta keep those little microbes alive by giving it more organic compounds, so stick to organic nutrients, they're rich in organic compounds. I would suggest biobizz with the added organic dry ammendment here and there. hahahah ooh ok cool cool, I am seeing it as a perfect square in the photo, but I see now the pixels look a little distorted in some places have you any IPM in place brother? this is a must for any type of gardener.

  23. Welcome brother, Looks like quite a line up for you! Show us the pics! Word of advise for those brown self de-compostable pot thingies you using there. I also Used those first grow. And learnt roots normally get bound and hinders grow somewhat, Had to remove them and plants started growing again. But your experience might be different, so don't quote me Good luck, keen to see them!

  24. Thank you, always good to hear I've got the right stuff. I got some of the last deluxe from in this setup and it was really good. Definitely trying to mimic it. Since I'm still very early days in this grow I think I'll post it up, would be awesome to hear all the opinions, do's and dont's. Thanks for the welcome. Appreciate the warm welcome, thanks. I'm pretty amped they have made it this far already so definitely keen for the rest of this ride! The 4 experiment plants are all bag seed from various strains, no idea what to expect of them. If possible I'll try get 1 or 2 of them to grow outside, will see how it goes and how quickly they grow. The soil is called "420 Mix", I'm not too sure I made a good decision there. It was the 1 thing I had to go out and buy separately. I thought going cheap was a good idea for my first grow, only cost R100 for 30 litres. Gave it a feed of Biodyne's Environoc when last watered. Was told it would be good for the soil. The tent is definitely 120x60, picture was taken with a wide angle, messed with proportions haha.

  26. Welcome! Looks like you got all the right stuff there bud! Excited to see the difference between the 4 sugarcane phenos and what you do with them! You gona grow the experiment plants out aswell? What soil you using brother, looks a bit barky. That tent doesn't look like it's 120x60, did you get 2 tents or is this something else?

  33. The last of my bag seeds to germinate (30/07). All 4 went in to a shot glass with tap water for 24hrs, there after placed in kitchen towel wet with water from said shot glass, chucked folded towel into a sandwich bag and left in the dark. Waited for tap roots to be a decent size before planting in soil *Excuse the bad picture. (30/07) Got my equipment a day later, low and behold. The grow space! 34. So I tried to LST the Grape Gorilla.. She was streching way to much.. The darn main cola snapped right off.. Dumb of me not to use the knuckling method.. Done this a few times but now I'm not to sure as the stem is thick.. Stick it in the bottom of the pot and let's see what happens.. I should of topped her when I flipped but dit not expect the sudden and explosive stretch....

  35. Thank you for the welcome. I'll go ahead and start a diary today with the pics I have, keep an eye out. Would love to get your opinion on things! Your Competition diary looks great, amped to see the end results! I germinated those 2 seeds (in the little brown pots) a few days before receiving the equipment, I was itching to get started so bad! They're from those free seeds McDonald's was handing out not too long ago . I may consider shoving those in some pots like the rest now, thanks for that information. Growth on them has been far slower that the others, and the 1 isn't looking too happy with me over the last 2 days. I honestly didn't know "Pre-sex" was a thing, sounds like the foreplay of man and plant, I'm interested! As mentioned in reply to @ORGANinc., I think I'll start a diary to answer all the grow specific questions and answers, believe me, there's going to be a lot of them... 420 mix is 3Sixty, yeah. Dude at the grow shop I went to mentioned it being a new formula with less bark, so I assume the older batches were like 50% bark . Freedom farms seems to be what most people advise you use, I'm a bit of a cheap skate and sometimes forced to learn about capitalism the hard way. I may need some convincing to spend the extra R70 on a bag haha. I look forward to the suggestions if you'd be so kind as to give them as I go, watch for my Diary later today. I had to Google "IPM", something about Pest management. The short answer is no, I've got nothing of the sort in place.

  38. Why do you not want something organic? Perlite could work, hydroton as well and I think that quarts gravel stuff would work well too. Hydroton I think may be easiest as it wont get washed away or worked into the coco as much as the perlite.

  39. Never heard of them, perhaps try find out what they use to test the sample which is being submitted. What device / type of test. That will help us determine how legit their testing may be, if it's someone use a tCheck, then I'd pass.

  46. And then there was 2. These are the ones i wanted to grow from the start. The other one turned out to hermie on me. It was weird. Male flowers grew from all the sites where I pulled the fan leaves. The stress site. What have I learnt? When you get a feeling about a seedling go with that gut feel and pull it.

  49. Alrighty then we are coming up on that time I am going to post the update pics in order of how I took them this time just out of convenience as I have three different angles for each plant. I am also going to post the other plants I am growing just for comparisons sake. There's a bunch of pics to follow so I will do my quick summary here rather than after. One of the Tortoni's, T#6 has been developing some nanners so I am going to chop her tomorrow morning after setting up my drying net. The nanners are very isolated and look very new so I do not think they would have had time to do too much damage. Time will tell if any seeds developed in her or in any other of the ladies. When I give her the chop I am going to give the back plants a closer look as I will have a bit more space to do so. T#10 has the thickest and most complete queen cola out of all the Tortonis and she has the most green and lack of purple out of all the Tortonis. T#5 may be short, but her buds are all nice and consistent in size, she's like a mini version of T#10 but with a little more purple hues. T#8 has the most developed bottom nuggets I have ever seen on any plant I have ever grown in my life, I just forgot to take a pic of them but I will next time. They look like nuggets you would find in the middle of the plant but they are the most bottom which I usually get undeveloped meh buds, but not this lady. T#9 has the deepest colour of purple out of all the Tortonis and is a bit like T#8 in shape and size but the bottom nugs don't seem as developed or as large. Otherwise still a good few clear trichomes on the Wedding Cake and one or two of the Tortonis. Trickles of amber are appearing throughout all the plants so end of month is still looking like perfect harvest timing. The Choc Gelato is the tiniest plant of the lot, super small but I am hoping she packs some tasty flavour. The Zkittles x Purple Punch has some really stellar compact trichomes, it wows me every time. Wedding Cake T#5 Choc Gelato T#10 T#6 T#9 T#8 Zkittles x Purple Punch
