Hi folks. I got an email from @Cannabist confirming some massive savings on @Totemic genetics. I think this is perfectly timed for all the growers looking at the outdoor season with Spring on our doorstep. Support some local and check out what's on offer. Very good prices for some proper genetics. Happy growing folks8 points

I checked on The One and it was clear to me she wanted out. The leaves began to wilt and become crispy, as though she were deep into Autumn. I decided then to give her the harvest, it was time. I took a couple shots as the final state of my plant for judging, some closeups and overviews6 points

Harvest gear has landed Fresh set of snippers Hand condoms Terploc Grove bags I tried terploc bags with my previous harvest while also going traditional with the boveda pack in glass jar to compare (and also just didn't want to put all eggs in one basket without testing the bags first). My opinion in comparing methods? Well I wont be wasting time burping jars again ( even though glass jar + boveda pack is the tried and tested and I stuck to that method through a few years of growing outdoor). After the same amount of cure time I found the buds in the terploc bags had more pungent flavours in taste and smell than the buds in glass jars and I found this across all 3 plants I had harvested. I'm convinced this is the future, except its already here! Any one else out here got love for the terploc bags?4 points

17 out of the 22 seeds cracked and shot taproot. 3 x Bruce Banner 1 x GSC and 1 x BKB is still in the paper towel room. I will add 2 more Bruce Banner seeds to germinate if i dont see anything by Sunday. I finished digging the 40L holes for each plant. Still need to get stakes to brace them for that heavy winds4 points

Morning everyone, my update for the previous week: She’s looking ok to me, 40+ heads just need some flesh but a lot can happen in the next two weeks. Think it’s definitely going to be more than two weeks before harvest.3 points

Nightshots They have been grown organically, just to repeat that, because my ladies a bit uglier than yall salt feeding ninjas. Would love a thc compare test end of grow like last time @420SA Has @Aeradixresponded on the request as yet?3 points

I might be totally mistaken... just looking at your last picture. Looks like your flowers grow a lot more on the light side. I think i wrote it in the start. The Gelato enjoys a bit more light during flowering. If you have 2 QBs lying around, would add them. I have between 1200 and 800 micromole PAR on mine. would get support ready, they will need it2 points

I've taken a few shots with the microscope to check how the trichomes are looking. It's super difficult to hold the microscope and phone still to take the pic. I recon they can go a bit longer.2 points

Happy spring day! They got the heater right up in their face. Very cold, but they have got new homes, they in 3L of a soil that's going to get tested. I will share the test paper and how I will be moving forward. I expect to see some wonky numbers apposed to what Albrecht would propose, but we leaning. Apple Jax standing out. Also got 2 x jack herer up and 2 x Bubalicious up2 points

Greetings canna fam! Time has come for the next update in this grow! Tortoni is starting to fade and fill out well... If she keeps this up I may even become impressed2 points

Or you can also look into setting up Home Assistant, then you can connect a huge list of devices to it (including sonoff) and create any automation your heart desire and get different devices from different brands to interact with one another. It's a bit of a steep learning curve but very rewarding [emoji1591] Here's just my grow setup I've been working on and I've also got my whole house automated.2 points

Whether with colloidal silver, STS, and even giberellic acid, It takes 14-21 days of preflower for the action of ethylene suppression to trigger the change, and then quite a few days more for those pollen sacs to grow and reach maturity. Generally 4-5 weeks from first spray to actual pollen.1 point
-
4 days is super fast... Dare I say a bit suspicious in a way, as if the plant had decided to start making sacs before you even sprayed. Lets see how it turns out. Perhaps you got lucky and the plant you sprayed responds very quickly.1 point

Oh too often, ye way more often than is necessary. But when I'm doing it right, just small adjustments every 2-3 days to correct for the desired projected growth. I think I can let it veg a bit more and then flip once the coldest temps are past. Photoperiods (well my sample size of x1) are so much fun. I can see why many say they are easier than autos. Endless veg feels like Christmas.1 point

As they only get water till cut on Friday.. and I have a busy weekend coming.. I put the grow summary here. You don't have to read all the posts to get my feeding regime figured out. There is no rocket science to be found here ^^ sorry. The tent climate is were it should be ^^ I played with the Gelato strain before.. even mine is a Orange Sherbet, not a Sunset Sherbet. So I knew that they are normal feeders and don't like to get pushed to hard. Is why I never put 4ml Bloom in per liter. Keep it friendly but every feeding is dinner time. You still need to look at your leaves every time you check your plants. You can spot stress before they get stressed. The faster you react, the happier you keep your plant(s). Dropped the seeds in filtered water (charcoal / UV light) with 27 degrees C for exactly 12 hours. Removed and plated between two dinner plates and moist kitchen paper towels. Once they popped they went right into Freedom Farm Premium Classic soil with a 2ml BioBizz Root Juice (they suggest 4ml, 2 works same) flush of the soil. Only time I use Root Juice, so a bottle last forever ^^ As the FF Green Bag isn't cold in regards to fertilizer, I do not add Fish-Mix at the start like BioBizz Table suggests you have to do. If you use a neutral medium, start with 1ml Fish-Mix right away and the Amino Boost 2ml per 10 liter. Used a syringe to feed. Always lift the pot to check if they actually need it. Then comes the rather easy part.. feeding till flip is the same. Anything Bold changed or gets added fresh. First 5 finger out i stop pure rain water. 1ml Fish-Mix or Grow (swapping each feeding) per liter and 2ml Amino Boost per 10 Liter. You wet a 10 liter pot with FF Green bag soil more or less perfect with one liter... 3 liter pot.. 300ml.. i don't work with run off. I always watch the tips of the leaves to see if they get to much. I see the slightest dis-color coming up, they get twice just plain rain water, then back to normal. The swap with Fish Mix and Grow I don't do because of the plants, I add the 25% molasses sugar to the soil for the microbes to have their own sugar rush ^^ BioBizz Grow = 75% Fish Mix + 25% Molasses. Ergo.. you buy Fish Mix and some molasses... you can mix your own Grow. I am to lazy.. i buy it in 5l containers... except the Top Max. The moment I flip, I also give the first shot of Bloom.. and I like to flip when they are dry and need feeding anyhow. 1ml Grow (more sugar ^^) 2ml Bloom per liter and 3ml Amino Boost per 10 Liter on Flip I keep the BioBizz Grow till I see they are Pre Flower, then I start to swap with Fish Mix again, but keep it at 1ml all the time. If you have more hungry strains, go 2ml from week 3 or week 4. Just watch those tips of your leaves and use plain rain water when needed. My rule of thumb is that I increase the Bloom as soon as I go for the Silica addon. Buds are now clear formed and size of the tip of your small finger. 1 ml (Fish Mix or Grow swapping each feeding) 3 ml Bloom and 1 ml Top Max per Liter plus 3ml Amino Boost per 10 Liter. 2 Weeks in I raise the Top Max 1 ml (Fish Mix or Grow) 3 ml Bloom and 2 ml Top Max per Liter plus 3ml Amino Boost per 10 Liter. And do the same 2 weeks later again plus go max dosage on the micro nutes 1 ml (Fish Mix or Grow) 3 ml Bloom and 3 ml Top Max per Liter plus 4ml Amino Boost per 10 Liter. (If they are hungry strains, 4ml Bloom at this point) 2-3 weeks before planned harvest the last increase in Silica and stick to the sugary Nitrogen 1 ml Grow 3 ml Bloom and 4 ml Top Max per Liter plus 4ml Amino Boost per 10 Liter. Last week I flush... sometimes the plants have other ideas and you adapt hehehe is no exact science. Autos I work with a clear defined feeding table and follow that table more or less blind.. you never get around watching your leaves to see what the plant is telling you. I only give rain water when the plants might run into a issue, otherwise they always get fertilizer in each watering. Welcome to my mess ^^ I used the Bio Heaven Bottle for the Amino Boost, the original bottle is super messy to open after shaking and to close up it always makes a little spill. And the only Pesticide I used... or PM would have given me a really hard time. Stuff works and customs have zero issues if you want to import. Tried to import a Swiss product.. couldn't even ship it. South African customs would reject the import, i got informed by DHL. Not sure why hehehe used in Swiss hospitals and laboratories to clean up. Wanted to use it to wash out my tents, used it in Switzerland before, good stuff, no smell. Sanosil the product name.. bummer.. Serenade works great.. you can spray that before harvest even... better if you do not have to but after 2 weeks the bacteria are decayed. Never ever spray it on dry buds.. never ever!!!! Moldy buds go to the compost heap... just accept your fail and don't inhale that stuff into your lungs. All I do.. no rocket science here, sorry dudes1 point

@SAgrower, thanx for that tip, BUT I always go shopping with my card, because I don't like to carry cash on me. Sooooooo.......it might be a good or bad thing. I checked my seeds this morning and same as last year the Pineapple Chunk doesn't waste any time. 5 /5 popped within 24 hours after they sank. Not only are they in a hurry to grow, but the nugs on them is mindblowing. Big and toight... LoL. So i planted them into those plastic 6 pack pots you get from buying 6 pack Marigolds, which i cut out to make handling and labeling easier... I used a 50/50 Coco Perlite Seedling starter mix. I had left over from last season. @SAgrower, I only needed starter soil for 3 seeds. And I walked away with a 15L seedling starter bag I labeled them and put them into the germination station to await there beautiful green smiles...1 point

I see a lot of horror stories starting with "I went away for the weekend", so naturally I was rather worried about my ladies while away for 4 days. I had a friend go through and give them some water as I figured they'd be dry by day 3. I came back to the plants all overlapping each other, had a growth spurt of note! So it was time to get my 2nd light going and time to spread them a part a bit. Tonight I'll start with some LST before topping1 point

Nice, ya from my experience with tortoni and how totes first run went I was curtain there would have been much bigger buds throughout the competition. Obviously there are definite standouts. But ya there’s a lot of variation in technique etc. heres one of the colas of the #3 I grew. I’ll definitely be keen to try out the F2s1 point

perhaps for an experienced grower who doesnt need to worry about his plants so much, then fancy upgrades like wifi switching are on the table but for a new grower, worrying about if your lights are on or off when they are supposed to be on or off shouldnt be on the forfront of your problem list. also, even if the power comes back on and the switch goes into its last state or an on state, while its supposed to be lights off, the plants will have the lights on for a good few seconds, depending on your router it could be a few more seconds. the one thing i learned very early on is the light cycle should never be disturbed at all costs - and to me, those few seconds of potential overlap is more than enough for me to stay away from wifi switching for my core program and stick to a mechanical digital timer with built in battery backup1 point

Week 14 Update / Flower Week 8 We're inching closer to the finish line but still a fair way off, T3 will definitely be first in line although she is also been pushing out new flowers recently: Tent photo: T1 (back right): T2 (back left): T3 (front left):1 point

Coming up on my planned harvest of The One this weekend. Buds are looking frosty! Gave The One a final feeding last night and will try let the pot dry out as much as possible by Saturday/Sunday before harvest.1 point

22.8.2021 - Update: One week later Ladies have had their first foliar spray (Nutriplex/Nutrigold) earlier today. Removed a couple of the lower leaves and small growth on some of them - It was too close to the medium, they looked healthy enough to take it so I went ahead. Tally Man seems to be getting there slow but surely, just not popping green like the terples in person. Positive is new growth showing up, so will keep on taking it slow n steady with the feeding. Otherwise, 1 week down and so far so good Now, jhst gotta hope it stays that way1 point

Blumat's in and scrog on , tugging for another 2-3 weeks at most and then flip. Left the old soil in and topped up 18L with Elemental Blend mixed with Coco/Spagnum Peat Moss. First feeding with FF Micro and Probiotics , week later fed Humic & Fulvic Acid . Sent from my Hisense Infinity H50 using Tapatalk1 point

I wouldn't do it with every watering, but you could if you wanted to - just going to get expensive. Ensure you add a source of food for the microbes as well. I have always only used microbe inoculations as a drench, never as a foliar.1 point

So with a heavy heart. My tent being taken down once again. This with a lot of excitement of my own property in the rurals though. Everything will be going to a friend as i will have to reduce my grow space and power uptake... With the smaller space i feel i wil pay more attention too Ignore the temp and humidity lol. Was a fresh chop. Currently sitting at 52% rh and 18 degC Unfortunately outdoor is not a option other than for suppimentary light ... To be continued1 point

Update: Week 6 of flower (mechanical failure ) I've still been checking for light leaks / timing issues on and off. Today I had some time and removed the timer to give it a proper test, and mechanical failure... My lights are supposed to be on from 21:00 for 12 hours. But it looks like there is an issue with at least the pins between 20:00 and 21:00. Which means that effectively I've had lights on for 13 hours instead during flower. I think this pretty much screws up the comparison with everyone else in the competition. So I think I'm going to pull out. (@420SA how do I make that official?) I'm obviously miffed but things break... Between my fertilizer issues at the start and this its been a bit bumpy but I'm still very happy with what I've learned, so all good. @420SAI'd like to keep posting updates, what is the best option. Closing this and linking to a new grow diary? @TotemicFYI disregard my long flowering time in your feedback. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction there. Final pics then I'll comment more when I know where I should post further updates I'm considering moving one of the two competition plants and one other to finish flowering outside. That will give me space to flower the other three I have that are ready to be flipped Those three in the bottom right are the other three from @totemic's 2021 Summer pack (Chocolate Gelato, Palomino. Cherry Gelato CBD). Look at the size of those leaves compared to my other mothers/clones in my clone tent. Insane.1 point

I find the best way cover crops can be used in a pot is letting the plant grow to an acceptable size before adding a new layer of soil with some cover crop mixed in. if you plant cover crops around a big already dominating plant, they might not grow as nice, but rather to have the actual thing you wana grow to be dominating than the cover crops. this is why a new top layer of soil. alternatively, there is no companionship, because it's a pot you're creating competition when you plant everything at the same time and the cover crops might dominate and stunt growth on what it is you're actually growing. think this is the point on not using it in a pot, but rather in a bed I haven't heard of people tilling soil in a pot at all before. maybe we got different ideas of the word. I know it as "flipping" the soil or "rotavating". which is something you shouldn't really do in a pot with annual plants growing in them. rather go fresh soil each time, dump it in the pot and there you go. unless you making your own soil... I get the whole biosphere thing you're going for, but I we've seen quite a bit of complaints about the orgasoilux being too hot already. Do you have a EC or ppm pen? Test the soil first before assuming you need to do anything fancy to it, I am currently learning this the hard way brother! correct me if I am wrong, but creating a healthy biosphere is secondry to creating a better nutrient uptake for your plants? otherwise I would suggest a seperate project where you take like 33% coco 33% worm casting and 33% perlite as your base then start building a soil from there and doing all sorts of funny stuff to it to make it "alive"1 point
