Been a busy time... Sifted 400lt of compost from the JoJo composter, cooking 200lt's on the backburner for the next round in the wheelybin. Mixed 2 batches of 160lt's. Base store bought 'soil' amended with wood ash, volcanic rock dust, dol lime, bone meal, bio ocean kelp and 60lt of sifted compost and 30lt EWC each. The soil in the blue drums get rolled every week to mix and aerate during cooking. The drums are less messy and look neater, rolling them also much less effort that spade turning. Been struggling to find decent EWC locally, decided 'stuff this' and started our own farm, mix of red wrigglers and local worms. Started with 1, now up to 2 totes, very soon 4x60lt totes will supply 40-80lt's every 2-3mnths. The tea is a welcome bonus. Worms seem happy as they breeding like bunnies.3 points

Just anther update, the k-2 & Zkittlez are growing fairly fast soz had to do some training on them, I must also add that supplementing silica has done wonders for training the plants, stems seem "rubber" like making it easier to push them at extreme angles without worrying to much about snapping. Will recommend anyone to try silica if you haven yet Applied some neem oil after the super cropping for the bugs and back in the tent they go for a week's recovery3 points

Howzit oaks. Just a short one again of a few little vacuum chambers I have made. There are bigger vacuums that you can make using perspex and pots but that I have not done yet. One day maybe. So this guide would just be for a little chamber and a hand pump. An extreme budget job. For the noob like myself. So a list of things: Jar and lid (preferrably small as possible (200ml)). WondaFix (pratley). 1/4 inch ball valve. Some 1/4 inch fittings and nozzles. Plumbing tape. Hand brake bleeder pump (tube included) So I also have one that uses an 1/8 inch valve which is awesome but fittings are quite tough to get hold of so just for the ease of it, we will refer to 1/4 inch in this quick guide. I managed to find all my fittings at a shop called Adendorff. What a shop. Lots of cheap tools and crap. I asked them if they do vacuum pumps and sounds like they have a huge request and might bring something in. Quite simple. Drill a hole into the lids of the jars. I used a 6mm drill bit. The 1/4 inch fitting fits nicely into it. I actually just screwed it into the hole using the thread on the fittings. Depending on your valve being a male to male or female to female, you will have to figure out the best fittings/adaptors for the job. I used female valves so I basically only needed a 1/4inch male to male adaptor and a 1/4inch male nozzle. Once screwed in I used the wondafix to seal it nicely. I used the steel pratley but doesn't work because the lid of the chamber flexes a little when you suck all the air out. Let the glue settle overnight and then make sure everything is screwed in tightly. You will notice in both photos that I am using different jars and lids but they are still small enough. The reason for the small jars is because you have to remove the air using a hand pump. It takes suuuuuuuuper long if you use a 1lt consol jar and pump it with a hand pump. Smaller jars are much easier. I am on the look out for second hand fridge compressors because the old school ones have an inlet and outlet. As far as I know you can get a really nice vacuum going with one of those. With the hand pump and small jar I can get about 24"hg. With a compressor pump/vacuum pump you can get very very close to a perfect vacuum (29.92"hg). Last two photos is from vacuum to no vacuum. When warming the extract with a mat or warm bath it helps get all the bubbles of gas out easier. The extract can also be directly blasted into the glass jar, then purged from the jar too, and utilized from the jar for consumption. Total estimated costs: M/M adaptor 1/4inch (R20) F/F ball valve 1/4inch (R40) M nozzle 1/4inch (20) Brake bleeder pump kit (R250) Small jar and lid (R25) Plumbing tape (R20) Pratley WondaFix (R80) TOTAL: R455 Hope this manages to help someone else that is also using chemical extraction methods and wants cleaner dabs. Thanks for watching.2 points

Week 16 Update / Flower Week 10 I've changed my mind on who to bring forward. The tall, strong and beautiful T2 has grown on me. He flowers are so colorful and resinous, she has really astounded me. Also realised I don't have a clone of her for some reason so I monstercropped one of the budlets on the the lower growth, really hope I can get something rooted of this baby I'm hoping to give these girls the axe the weekend, trichomes will tell closer to the time though. They could easily go a lot longer but I don't enjoy the effect of a belated harvest even though that's when they pack on the pounds. With bringing T2 to the sacrificial judgment altar I went ahead and started trimming the fans off T1 and T3 getting them harvest ready and letting them buds soak up as many rays as they can until D-Day.. Caution: barrage of photos below: Group photo: T1 (back right): T2 (back left): Getting there but still needs time T3 - front left Clear trichs still prevalent2 points

So thought I might as well start a new grow diary. I have skipped the boring vegging stage, do any of you actually want to see that? I have also split the flower plants a bit - some went into flower around 27 June while others went into flower technically on Monday (12 July) - decided to give them 48 hours of darkness before switching to 12 / 12 as I had a bit of a fuckup with the plants which went into flower on 27 June. Moved over to a sonoff Pow R2 and setup a timer instead of schedule and only noticed after a day or two. So not sure if lights were going on and off every 7 minutes or if they were only off for 7 minutes every 24 hours or what was happening but it seems this slowed down the transition into flower Now a lot of these I have grown out previously, however there are some new additions. Also some new phenos of strains I have grown out previously, going to see which is the keeper pheno and narrow it down to make my life easier going forward. List of strains being grown: Bananium (multiple phenos) Platinum Punch (multiple phenos) Frosted Apricots Sugarcane Slurricane Slurrijug - I grew this out previously back in 2019 and it was good, this is a different pheno though... Blunicorn Twisted Helix (Thanks to @John Stonedwell for a cut of this, same pheno he is growing out) Black Cherry Pie Remo Chemo Will take some pictures and post them here when I get a chance. Got some other stuff coming up a well - but that will be for another grow diary.1 point

Condition of the pistils, would say minimum a week... 2 sounds better. Hard to see how yellow your fan leaves are. If they go yellow, i remove em to remove shade. Not cutting to close to the stem, half way, less stressful. Looks a bit like the fake Pineapple Express i just had. Would guess, biggest cola of the comp right there, nice job!1 point

So I just could not leave this girl outside.. Put her indoors and will flower her. If I am happy she will be polinated with some Dream Queen Slurry pollin. A buddy of mine still have three girls and we made a few cuts. Hopefully she's the real deal. I got the beans from a trusted sourse so I am possitive..1 point

Good morning Growmies. So the girls were polinated with some Chockolate Gelato pollin gifted by @Totemic I should have enough beans now for a life time. Happy to have beans on the Grape Gorilla as this girl is my new favorite.. I have a visitor in the tent and I am sure he is feasting on the phungus knats.. Small issue with them but not yet necessary for extreme measures.. Grape Gorilla Fem The main cola is still going and I hope to revege it soon to make some cuttings. Chockolate Gelato Fem. Got a few updates for project tree: So I'm planning on taking these 2 outside by end of the month. I took then outside for some sun the other day but the wind is quite savage compared to the oscillating fan in the tent they survived the beating but I will look to supplement silica to strengthen stems soon (gonna need strong stems to hold up all the tinsel and decor anyway). Since plants in flowering tent have been harvested, veg plants moved in there to benefit from the stronger light. Took the opportunity to pot-up the 2 plants for project tree to 30L pots. Before pot-up: Pot-up to 30L Orgasoilux and mycaroot fungi I dropped some red clover, dill and coriander seeds in some worm castings around the plants for cover crops for the next 5-6 weeks before I expect to pot-up again. I'll try and transfer as much cover crop as possible when I transplant but I will just plant more seeds if I rough them up too much. The plant that is top centre in the pic above will go to 200L and I'm not going to top at all - want the Xmas tree shape. The plant in top left will go to 80L and I'm going to top a bit once I'm confident that the plant in the bigger pot has settled well after transplant, otherwise this will be plan B for the Xmas tree. Gave all the plants a spray of buddi all rounder. So far I have been giving them liquid gold microbes, activera and based on the recommendation of @Prom - Canna Pro Amino Boost, the most recent addition to my toolkit. So quick visual recap of the adventure so far:1 point

The Lemon OG Haze No1 died after the second training snips, no clue why, roots and all looked rather developed Rest is fine and most are on 8 mains so far, rest follows tomorrow. Thursday the first should go 16, then I start sorting and pot up to a 10L pot and install a screen for each. Not going 22L this time, check the outcome in pots I use for Autos usually. Cones from Plant 5 and 6 already rooted very strong... i always have some nice and fast rooters.. and the rest just needs those 2 weeks. No idea why.. and I seem not to be able to figure out what i do right and wrong. Perhaps genetic.. will check that on a second batch of clones I take from the clones. If 5 and 6 root again super fast, that could solve my puzzle.1 point

Update time. The three clones have taken beautifully to the seed tray and the dnd forest inspiration scene is coming together. The mother got replanted with fresh soil and lifted a couple of centimeters Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Getting very close to harvest , ? I have made the decision to go with the more Indica looking strain, she has lekker size and bud appeal1 point

So not going to lie, the plants I took down really did not come out very nice. The bud was lacking frost, yield was really low and popcorn for days and the most bizarre part is the pistils went a dark colour and did not compliment the bud and made it looks even worse. Sigh Here are some pics, not the best pics but not the best bud either. I feel the root aphids may be partly to blame here. Slurrijug Black Cherry Pie Bananium Slurricane Will likely be taking down more plants this weekend though, hoping these plants turn out better - they look good at least. Will check trichomes towards the end of the week. Might give some another week if needed.1 point

So a bit of an update, took these photos on Saturday but didn't get a chance to post them until now - been busy trimming some plants which came down. Twisted Helix: Bananium: Frosted Apricots: Sugarcane: Really excited to take these plants down! Some new ones which I have yet to try myself as well.1 point

Joining this party a bit late.... Firstly - if experienced growers tell you STS is the way to go, well, then that is probably the way to go, I know very little but I love to experiment. Having said that, I'm using 18ppm colloidal silver, and on day 4 I can already see sacks forming (this in itself is much faster than anticipated even if one use 30ppm) it also remains to be seen if I'll still have this smug look on my face in a week or three. So, my opinion totally do-able and it seems to work just fine.1 point

So I took down some plants this weekend, didn't take pictures before unfortunately. Was quite unhappy with the Black Cherry Pie and then time was not on my side so focused on getting the job done as opposed to taking pictures (sticky fingers and a phone is also not pleasant). I took down the following: Black Cherry Pie Remo Chemo Slurrijug Jelly Breath Bananium A lot of strains look quite shitty when compared to the Slurricane & Bananium. I will take pics of the bud once its dried and trimmed. Yield on the Black Cherry Pie appears to be quite poor. Keeping in mind, I got the Black Cherry Pie and Remo Chemo from a friend in small plastic pots and kept them as such - I can without a doubt see that something was up compared to my other plants in their 20L fabric pots. The root system on the plants from my friend seemed under developed in comparison Last night I managed to take some pics of some plants which should be ready to be cut in the next few weeks. They're looking good, at least I think so! After the BCP and Remo Chemo, I was a bit demotivated and seeing this brought a smile to my face Frosted Apricots Platinum Punch - dare I say, looking pretty good when compared to the Sugarcane? I have 2 more phenos of this strain to grow out and compare as well. Certainly a keeper - just need to see which phenos is the chicken dinner. The way it packs on the frost reminds me of the Bananium though. Last but not least, Sugarcane...1 point

I was going to sit back and watch how this thread progresses and steal with my eyes. However since I got back from the bush pub tonight and sitting in the office with a spliff and another pint I've noticed fruit flies of a sort in the air. This is the first time since I've started growing indoors (close to 2 year's now) that I've had a fungas gnats problem. It is also the first time I have not mixed some cinnamon powder into my medium. I've used a variety of soils in the past (in our nursery plants and cannabis) and as a rule of thumb I always add cinnamon. No gnats. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk1 point

@PsyCLown Looking good man! Very similar structure to what I see from my old pics. These are some pics of how mine turned out.1 point

@CoolJ So this is the Twisted Helix, it went into flower around a month ago. Sorry, the light right above it made it a bit tricky to take nice pictures. I then got distracted by the sugarcane behind it, went into flower the same time as the Twisted Helix. I am glad to see the frost is being packed on, expecting to see more frost from all strains over the next 2 weeks as well as buds to develop more and get bigger. I do still have an issue with fucking root aphids, as well as fungus gnats. More worried about these darn root aphids, just hoping these plants pull throughout without taking a knock and I can harvest them before major issues appear. Honestly not sure how bad these root aphids may affect the plants - the plants in veg do not look good but I am sorting those out. The ones in veg are yellow and pale and the stems are super purple - like a mag deficiency. This is consistent with what I have read about symptoms the plants show when one has root aphids - I have seen some mention bud size is reduced and density is also not there when flowering plants with root aphids.1 point

So I went on an expedition through the jungle... My mission, to find the sacred mary-gah-wannas The plants which went into flower in July are stacking nicely. Still early days, bud needs to fatten up. The Black Cherry Pie is a little disappointing, frost is about average at best. Excuse the hair, must have been from me being in and out the tent while setting up the Blumats again. This went into flower end of June so further long into flower. A lot of the frosty stuff went into flower in June - so still to come at least.1 point
-
So a few more pics... A pic of the whole tent, as you can see there are plants in various stages inside this tent. Here are some pics of a Black Cherry Pie by IHG, stacking nicely and frost is coming along. Not the frostiest strain I believe, not on the same level as the Sugarcane and other such strains. Here is a picture of the plants which went into flower on 12 July I think it was...1 point
-
Another quick update on the plants further into flower. I have staked all of them and did a heavy defol, see how it turns out. The stacking is coming along nicely - especially for some of the in house strains and compared to my previous run with them. I need to finish adding the rest of the lights to the tent though, you can see it is dark behind the plants but the camera just makes it seem worse than it is, all plants are still receiving sufficient light PPFD. For anyone wondering, those stakes are 1.4 and I pushed it as far down into the coco as I could. So around 1.4m from the ground - not from the top of the coco.1 point
-
So let's get some pictures going! Not many and not the best, sorry for the delay. As per another thread I have started, I have an issue with some Root Aphids so trying to deal with that - hopefully this grow won't be affected too badly due to them darn pests. As mentioned, some plants went into flower before others. These plants need a defol and went into flower later so not much in terms of pistils and bud formation yet: These plants went into flower towards the end of June, they were delayed a bit I feel due to the weird light cycle when I messed up the schedule on the sonoff but are now nicely on their way to some good bud being formed. Tent is starting to get nice and smelly now too which only started happening this week. I need to try even out the canopy a bit, may be difficult now as I left them for a bit too long. A mix of strains as you can see, always requires work to get a flat canopy and I have not put the work and effort in as you can see - been busy and then the root aphid issue has kinda been a bit of a downer and put me off the grow a little, part of the reason for the delay in these pics being posted.1 point
