Time has passed and i served the guys at Poker some Tortoni. It is not a taste cannon.. but over all a way over average smoke due to smoothness and the pleasant flavors you get when exhaling. They asked me if there is more coming.. I said yes and there was happiness all around the table As said, I am very sure I find a way better pheno and will do a hunt with regulars as soon as I have space. If you smokes a lot and have cough issues.. this weed is a nice solution. Buddy wanted to make a break, because of his lungs.. he is total fan of the Tortoni smoothness, had zero issues smoking it.

The 2 hours down time doesn't really mess with the plant that much. I'm more concerned about the airflow than lights not on. Unless your load shedding is more than 3 hours and for days on end I wouldn't be too concerned for the average grower.

Quarintine all incoming plants, dose them and keep separate from main grow area. More treatments at lower dosages are more effective so you can cover the whole life cycle of the pest/mite from egg to larvae to adult- killing all of them. IPM is a neccesity, mites are tough buggers and some are known develop resistance if you keep using the same stuff repeatedly. We like to mix it up with more than one insecticide. Hit them hard with different stuff more than once.

Good day people ! Was just wondering if you guys could give me some insight as to how you handle your indoor grow when power goes out. -Do you simply move outside for the short while and then backside ? -Do you have backup power ? (what exactly do you run off the backup power ?) -Do you leave the plant and just wait for the power to come back on and then adjust your lighting schedule according to the hours of light missed ?

Hey guys, I know this is bad, I've got broadmites on this plant, I know I need to get rid of this one plant. spraying kemprin on the rest of my plants in my tent. I spoke to another grower, and they told me that I should get rid of all the plants in the room. I wanted to know if this is necessary if I poison the mites, and wait to see if the rest are alright.

I fitted an inverter and 2 x 200A/h batteries. All run on extension cords. It runs 1/3 of the lights in two tents plus the extractors and oscillating fans. It can also run a dehumidifier but that reduces the battery life a bit quicker. It’s fine for 2hrs or much more if the lights are off obviously. I have a generator which re charges the batteries if needed.

Textiles have heavy tax on.... 50% i think... solar not... for sure not 200% and as long as nothing is stock... why get your order just send to china over a third person? I cant afford a full system right now, so i build it step by step on a hybrid inverter plattform, 5kw, can link more boxes if needed. First add pv panels till over capacity, then add batteries, sun out, my Eskom bill drops just with panels connected. The box mixes the input with panels preferred. Garage runs on 2 300w panels and 300ah batteries off grid. Feeds fridge, internet routers, irrigation computer and garage door... never dropped below 50% capacity during winter, so never really cycles the batteries. Already now, batteries full at 11 from what the fridge used during the night. Sommer not even here... i will increase my panel capacity till i can run lights and AC during day time, with some battery backup for the veg and mother tent on 18/6. Mother tent runs on 150watts, the veg on 480w. I like the idea of solar powered indoor weed.. at least not nuclear like now

LIkewise, but many growers have been using the system successfully for sometime now. The "marketing percentage" is probably something to do with how much power you save, plus what you grow in a percentage of production me thinks. Back to topic. Buy a Lister diesel engine with a changeover switch. Problem solved. Thump thump.

Auto are the best choice for load shedding, they dont care at all. Rest i run like @SkunkPharm with batteries and solar panels. Over day time, no recharge needed, just have to lay the extention cord to the grow room from the garage. Working on a fix installetion for the grow room. Order from China directly... way cheaper as local... i just cant agree with the 200% margine local boys put on top, makes it three times as expensive if you order on your own.

I have a battery back up system for a light in each tent. 2 hours lights off is an issue if you grow unstable fem seeds. They tend to hermie on you.

I dont get how that would gain you 25-35% in production?

Its not the end of the world. Some growers use the Gas Lantern ( link to the grower who has been promoting this technique for donkeys years ) technique for vegetative and flowering stages. Read up on it and you will see some different lighting schedules to use, many people say its even better and in the long run saves you money.

Hi guys I've been very scarce on the forum of late and just thought I should clear the air before any speculation arises. Firstly, I am in the process of starting a new business and it has been all systems go. There has been planning, ordering, building and a lot more. I just don't have the time to sit down and spend time on the forum at the moment. That doesn't mean I haven't been visiting at all, but when I do there is another issue which I point out in the paragraph below... Secondly, and this has been an issue for quite some time now... and that is site speed for me is really bad.... it takes about 2 minutes to load a page and I have no idea why. Loading a growoff diary is a nightmare that I often flatout just give up on it. This doesn't appear to be the case with everyone so it comes down to my ISP. An ISP change may be the solution but it's a mission and one I'm not willing to try and address at the moment, given everything else I am busy with at the moment. Make no mistake, I am still fully committed to this forum but my livelihood must take precedence at this time so I just ask for your guys understanding and patience. I know I have fallen behind with the growoff as well as forum competitions and will do my best to catch up this week. Please bear with me This does however mean that our SOTM may possibly not run again till later this year or possibly only get going again in Jan next year. So I'm really sorry about that one guys. I have put a great deal of effort and my time into this forum since it was started back in 2014 and I was always worried that there may come a time when I need to drop my guard for a while. That time is now but as I say, this isn't a permanent situation and we will get this forum firing at all cylinders again once the business has hopefully hit a groove. Hey bud, I know Kemprin is an insecticide, but for interest sake, why did you use Kemprin particularly? you can definitely still save that plant though. Mites are pesky little fucks, but with the right preventative measures you'll almost never see them in your garden or at least keep populations at bay. they're so "microscopicly" tiny that they can travel in wind, literally they act as fungi spores, so for good measure, you kinda have to assume that they're everywhere all the time. by saying this, it should be clear that you have quite a bit of a problem on your hands there. If not taken care of correctly they will spread without a doubt, they will even infest and make nests in your tent and fuck with future grows. with your situation, here is what I would do - *empty the room and bomb the tent with 3% peroxide solution, then with ISO wipe down (everything from the light to the ratchets they hang on to the floor mat/tray every single thing you can take out the tent, take it out and clean it) then spray pyrol at a strong dose in the empty tent and let everything run, fans and all so the pyrol and disinfectant agents get inside your fans and air vents. maybe do this twice or three times before bringing the plants back in. just whatever you do, DO NOT bring the plants back in before they're bug free, otherwise your cleanout will be in vein the plants need to be shock treated, all of them. I would suggest pyrol, but at a lower dose than recommended because they already look stunted. 2 or 3 Pyrol treatments will do the trick no doubt. (rather spray more times at a lower dose, than to spray one high dose and toast the plants completely) then from there on you gona have to up your IPM. 1st rule of thumb, don't take in any clones or gifted plants without bombing them with your special IPM. 2nd rule, be religious about IPM. 3rd rule, make sure your airflow is unfavourble to the mites. either switch up how the fans run or more fans more fans more fans.

Nice selection of strains. I have a Chocolate Gelato growing myself. Now I have someone to compare it to....

There is lots of different opinions out there. I never came across this so I cannot give advice. If its on that one plant then it will surely spread to the others. Does any of the others show any of the same symptoms??? Cant see the others in the pics. If its just the one then maybe its something else... If possible, can you take a good pic of the problem plants leafs and also from the other ladies. Just wanna see. Did you notice any brown spots forming at the bottom leafs and kinda "falling" in in the beginning??? Sorry for all the questions

Agree with the mulch idea, remarkable difference in moisture retention and top soil layer temps. Also noticed more 'activity' in the top layer with mulch. Our outdoor growbeds have yet to be 'watered' and the potted plants (25-30lt) seem to last a day or two longer than usual.

We should get a pool going to help with the forum running costs.

Any quick suggestions on cover crop that works best?

The 1st batch I prepared got messed up due to clumsiness.... I started it up again and now we are at part 2. The rice water had a sour dough smell to it which meant it was on the right track. I took it out yesterday and it smelled sweetish which meant it was good to go. The 3 layer were also quite visible and I got to work this morning. My ingredients/steps for the next part: 500ml rice water (middle layer of rice water) 1L full cream milk Jar to place everything in. I have this spout jug which is really handy. Put rice water in jug, add all the milk and cover with a breathable "lid". I just use kitcken paper towel. As long as it can breath... Now its back to the cupboard for 5 - 7 days so that it can do it's thing...

And for the people interested, the smoke report after 2 weeks on 62%. Bud smells more earthy with a sweet hint of Tumeric. Shredded the sweet smell intensivies quite a bit. I tried to define it a bit more and went sniffing on the spice rack, couldnt find something matching, even the hint of Tumeric is covered more by a smell of plastic foil you had candy wrapped in. Rolled in my usual way, 5 parts weed, 1 part cigarette First toke is as smooth as it should be was on flush. You have to focus and look very hard to find the little sweetness. Mostly a earth smoke, reminded me of the Bruce Banner Autos. The weed might need way longer curing. I test it in a few weeks again. I stick to my point that i dont judge a strain after 2 beans... and unlucky, both had the same pheno swing. Would be a bit like a foreigner says South Africa sucks and just entered customs. The plants i had reacted rather unimpressed to HST, that counts for strong genetics. On the other hand they didnt show resistance to powdery mildew, but also no special weakness to it either. Rather uncomplicated grow run. And reaching close to 15% THC on a first run of a strain, tells right away, there is some UMPF in the genetics Will try a bigger batch of Tortoni first quarter 22.
