I suppose it all depends on what price motherland supplied to Bnb. At least 100% markup is pretty much standard for a retail environment though. Seed prices are always a hot topic. On the one hand we are already at a loss with the value of our Rand, and we don't want to pay a lot for seeds. Current retail market fem seeds go for between R50-R100 on average. But this whole seed market is going to change into something else fast. It's no longer just a few of us risking a lot to be breeding for the growers. With decriminalization that risk has greatly reduced. Then Covid happened and lock down 1.0 saw us cut off from international seed sources, and even to an extent domestically. These two events drove many growers locally to take their growing to the next step. There are now many, many breeders that have come on to the scene. It's an exciting time for us to have the opportunity to reintegtate our society with cannabis. Who knows how far it's going to go...8 points

One needs to ensure they buy from reputable breeders. People buying seeds in bulk and reselling, putting different names on these strains, using pictures from others and not of the actual seeds they're selling etc. IMO these strains / breeders / brands you want to avoid. Rather buy seeds from a breeder who has input into what is being bred and not just from someone who buys their seeds and resells (not talking about seedbanks, but "breeders"). 100% I have said that exact thing in a different thread. As a consumer now a days, one needs to become the expert and do a full investigation before committing to something, otherwise you can end up being shafted and taken for a ride.4 points

There is plenty other seed banks around that do not make such a big markup. But if you run a business and have to pay salaries I suppose you have to make some money along the way. That’s my 2c.4 points

I prefer to get straight from the source, cut out the middle man much cheaper and if you supporting a decent breeder cash will go straight to them ! edit: cheaper for local genetics4 points

After emailing B&B i received confirmation that they no longer sell Motherland genetics. Guess that i'll be using my Motherland t-shirt for checking the oil on my car from now on3 points

I like creating these little comparison photo's, really gives you an idea of why they're called "Weeds". Shit grows like mad!3 points

Well, klap me with a wet snoek. This is the exact same thing that a certain seedbank that named their strains after political figures and another one named after n chips brand did. Sies3 points

There's a lot of people who honestly have no interest in the plant, or helping the community, they just want to make some quick $$$. And unfortunately this is something that is going to happen.2 points

I mixed it all together, stirred it up to make sure all the molasses is dissolved. Now its in my grow tent to sit and mingle for a week. The tent is not in use at this moment so it perfect. All mixed up : I will check on it daily and will also take pics and post them when the weeks done. It sucks that it rainy todat and for the next day or 2.2 points

damn that's some nice profit hahah they probably don't even pay the R300 motherland offers it for, I bet the markup is more than 200. sadly because of the involvement of money corruption runs the marketplace. I am not saying these guys are corrupt, yet. I know a breeder can put any price they want on a seed, if they wana ask 1000 for a single seed, they can. I won't buy it, someone will, but not me. The reason can be that it's the holy grail of weed and nothing can compete with it, or simply because it's a seed that the breeder holds near and dear to them, sort of like a "signature" brand or a "niche" item. I understand motherland been stirring some controversy, luckily for them I am not looking for seeds right now and didn't know about all this. 300 for a 10 pack of regs is not over the top at all, though I wouldn't buy those anyway, just because of how they advertise them. all the name tells me is "random genome aka random genome" if a reputable breeder offered these I would question the legitimacy of the breeder. what I don't get is that insane markup, I get that they need to cover distribution costs and what not, but holy fucking christ. I have only heard good things about B&B, never bought from them myself, but I am also super interested in what that insane markup is all about? and their relationship with motherland genetics at the moment? maybe shoot them a quick email see what's up?2 points

Market price and economic value is there for a reason but because of current laws and regulations re cannabis there isn't any regulating party. Would be interesting to find out how seed prices are determined. Based on potential yield of strain, class/quality/rarity of strain and an equation of some sorts is calculated or did it start with a thumb suck figure and everyone just accepted it as the norm? I am aware of all the hard graft going into producing and selling seeds so i'm not tuning any breeders. Just curious.2 points

A bunch on us bought a 10 pack some time back. I got a cut from one of them. I did not think my pheno was that great so I cut it from the garden. Now that I think back I can kick my ass for not growing it again. But you know there is so much to grow these days.2 points

@Weskush I thought you'd find this one interesting, he mentions how he's spent cleaning up and working specific strains. Cannabis Breeding & Genetics - YouTube1 point

This is the issue, it's all proprietary blends. Lol If one is feeding the microbes in soilless, I don't see why it would differ much. Less organic matter but they're getting food still. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

Hey guys, so thanks for all the input ! I really appreciate it ! With all the load shedding we've been having (2-3 hours a day) I decided if I'm going to invest this much $$$ in a grow setup and genetics I might as well do it properly. I've got an electrician (a family friend thankfully) to come check out some stuff and give me some options regarding backup power. I've been looking into it heavily the past few days hopefully it will only put me back by a few months if even, I didn't really factor this into my original budget as I didn't think about it until we got load shedding again the other day @ORGANinc. I saw it today but I'd hate to pick them up and have them sit around for a month or longer not doing anything in all honesty1 point

1 week into flower and I'm not sure if I'm seeing things or if this is a potential hermie, there is abit of a "bump" between the pistols. I became concerned about this as I've seen a few reports on reddit and IG about hermies with this strain.1 point

Been enjoying all the different flavours! Flower tent is filled up again, all clones from previous batch. Just installed the net, tucked a few tops and moved a few branches around. About to flip these girls maybe give it a few more days, though I will not be documenting this batch. Got a couple clones in the veg tent, they're all going to new homes soon. My focus is on the Deluxe Sugarcane cuttings inside of the dome on the heat mat. Got a cutting from a forum member a while back, grew her out a bit and made a few cuts for my next batch. Will be documenting the DS grow when they take off1 point

Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 So i added the milk to the infected rice water and let it stand for 4 days. As you can see, there isnt much difference between day 3 and 4 so tomorrow moring I will tap off the whey(500ml) and add that to 9L of water and mix in 500ml of Molasses After it is mixed, letbit sit for a week. After that you mix it 100ml/10L water. Will post pic tomorrow to show final step...1 point

I'm wondering if the 36h explogrow soak doesn't have something to do with the broad leaves? But the serrations for sure is peculiar, hella curved and thicc1 point

So this thread also got away from me, but never the less closing it off. 6 phenos and 6 different directions this line will take going forward. There is enough seed from this run for me to continue hunting, and I will make a few available to testers.1 point

Day 67. With the load shedding and opportunistic night dweller's digging up power cables our power supply gonna be unstable for the next few weeks. So with a heavy heart I grabbed the snips. Was hoping on another week. To all the sponsors @Totemic, @Light It Up, @Aeradix, GSR Seeds, @Cannabist, Green Grow Room, @ExploGrow, @Golden-Goose, The High Co and @Futurama Hydroponics thanks for making this possible. Then let's not forget @420SA for pulling this together. Had a great time and most of all I learnt so much so shout out to all you out there. Looking back I ended up investing some on grow equipment and my little tent kitty has already been started. T3 the entrant that could have been.1 point

Fuck me.. now the fact that I don't have social media pisses me off... I am currently running Sunset Sherbet S1 and Purple Dosidos... Motherland claimed that the lineage is from the OG breeders of those strains... Sherbinski, Archive and Grand Daddy Purp... Shit, now I am stressing whether there is even a smidgen of truth to this. Only time will tell as to what these supposed strains will turn out as. So as I understand it they steal pics from other growers to market their shit.. does anyone know whether they actually had a breeding program to create all these wonderfully named strains that they are trying to sell? Karma is a bitch and once you are exposed it's hard coming back from that as your integrity will always be questioned. Super bummed....0 points

I thought B&B pulled all the stuff from Motherland after the drama ?? Wouldn't be supporting Motherland at the moment anyway dude... I've seen a lot of bad things about this guy the past few days on Instagram, I even saw Totemic said they are not longer a distributor for his seeds.0 points
