  1. Hey, Thought I'd share what I built. Over time I developed an IOT platform which allow people to register and integrate their micro controllers over HTTP/MQTT Turns out it works great for my grow tent. Using this platform I created this custom light controller which can control up to 4 10A lamps over MQTT. At the back there is a toggle switch which will toggle between online and off line mode. In offline mode the knob in front controls the 4 channels, all the way to the left is off and the more you dial it to the right the more LEDs comes on 50watt at a time. Enclosure was 3d printed. When in online mode it connects via MQTT to https:// Littlenodes.com you can create sensors and switches , I also added integration with Alexa in the form of a virtual button which can be triggered via a URL, Which in turn triggers an alexa routine. So if you have a sensor and any of the parameters goes out of range it can trigger alexa to say something like "Warning temperature sensor out of range!" And a little sensor box that measure lux, temp and humidity. And to top it off a dynamic image that will show live readings in my tent. So when ever you refresh this page it will show live readings updated to 1min ago. Bit over the top and maybe a little bit gimmicky but hey!

  2. FIM is instead of topping the node clean between the two off shoots, you top 3/4 off the growth, leaving a 1/4 of the growth behind. Hence Fuck i missed.

  5. That's a beast of a plant man well done. And some snazzy training.

  6. Probably should have spread the canopy apart earlier, but hey, I'm learning. I think a good scrog net is a better idea, but this unknown plant is SO strong. Must get some good genetics to grow. By working around their existing PCB electrical layout, I managed to create a design that spreads the light out far more evenly to the edges (reduced centre hotspot, and can be hung lower, minimising reflective losses). Final LED count up from 528 to 536pcs. New, more robust hinges and end caps. Driver can be mounted on the bars, or outside the tent with included extension cord. The rotating aluminium feet on the driver also help sink heat, and provide a stable, elevated mount for the top of the tent, or easy mounting on the wall. Now if only the global supply chain could return to some degree of normality.

  7. Fimming stemmed off topping. As far as i know it was discovered by accident when someone intended to top the plant but didnt top clean, leaving some the bottom growth leaves behind by cutting too high. It was observed that the fimmed plant grew more nodes from the partial cut than the clean topped plant(normally 2 new nodes will grow from 1 topping section). Fimming is less stressful than topping due to less growth being removed. Topping is still my go to for outdoor Sativas that wants to reach for the skies. It also creates a stronger, sturdier bush growth. Once

  8. Outside lady and what I have in the tent By the way why does my signature not show. Is it maybe because I don't have the rep ? I developed my own light controller using an ESP8266 that will manage the light schedule and I have some sensors in the back of the tent that measure lux, temp and humidity and the sensor is linked to an auto generated Image showing the output which I put in my signature. Supposed to look like this. The below is live and its updating every 1 min so when ever you refresh this page the below image will have the latest reading.

  9. eish man - you wont realize it until later on - but that move is the beginning of the end for your hydro setup. when i tried something similar in my early hydro days, taking a plant inside from outside, washed the roots and so on - i actually did exactly what you did TBH. first thing - plant roots are very fragile and do not take well to washing, recovery will take a while second thing, and this is the kicker - you have brought your outside bacteria and fungi, and introduced it to your res - they will multiply, and cause shit. like im not even gonna consider any other realities for your res man, it is infected and you need to make a compost tea with the right bacteria and fungi in it or you will not experience a happy plant in that bucket ever again... even deep cleaning with bleach wont help you now - only the tea can help you now. that or buy a new bucket and new everything that touched the water in your res. thirdly - is that an auto or a photoperiod plant? if it is an auto - it will likely not survive to give you any decent bud - if it is a photo period plant, make sure its getting 18 hours of light a day. heres a link to a tea i have made with huge success. https://www.420sa.co.za/topic/2631-teas-teas-teas/?do=findComment&comment=29973 stick close man - i dont mind helping you through this time

  10. Good Morning guys, Need some help. Very new to growing. a Buddy of mine gave me a little lady he had in the backyard. No idea what strain or anything. She looks more sativa - hybrid by the looks of the leaves. My question is, she's just pop the 8th node, is it to late to top or FIM? (i only have a 180cm high grow tent and i don't think she''l fit in there at the end. Or perhaps SOG or SCROG? I don't want to let her go to waste, she already showed some signs of stress from the transplant, had what looked like a nitrogen deficiencey(bottom leaves yellowed). Thanx for any help. I'm guessing i'm going to be on the help forums a lot at the beginning!

  13. @Naughty.Psychonaut Fimming does not necessarily mean it will leave you with 3 nodes / branches. Fimming is basically where you do not remove the node completely, however you are still removing that apical dominance. The name could be better, whether it sticks around - I guess we'll see in a few years. With topping the node is removed completely.

  14. Haven't tried fimming that early. Will try though.Shot. I always top at the 3rd - 5th node and feel it out from there.

  15. @Smirre69 don't mind all the rubbish brother, the answer to your question is, firstly, can we see photos and second, no it's not too late to cut/fim you can do it at any time. as long as you in veg.

  16. ok so, after little investigation, so far nowhere in horticulture does the term or abbreviation FIM get used other than amongst modern cannabis growers. I understand it might be a new thing, but it really should get a more appropriate name than "fuck I missed" cause that just sounds like some 14 year old kid growing his first ditch weed and trying to sound cool...

  17. FIM is when you do not fully top the node, hence "fuck I missed" but the way it was cut allow the plants to push multiple branches / colas still due to the way you cut it... but that top node was not removed completely, like it would have been with a topping. The images I posted above might help make more sense of it. I think majority of people top and very few FIM.

  18. I won't register FIM in my vocabulary as anything I've done both, both do the same, I manipulate my plant by looking at it if I want it lower I cut it, if I want more side branches I cut it.

  19. FIM and top is similar, but there is a difference. Cannot say I have ever done a FIM. Topping removes the node to allow the two bottom nodes to become the main brancehs / colas. FIMing is to get multiple growth points from that node. Where you cut is the deciding factor between the two. At least this is how I have always understood it. As mentioned, I just top.

  20. Last thing. I've experimented with topping and fimming and fimming is not as effective in reducing stretch/vertical height than topping. Topping creates a lekker bushy structure

  21. you can cut tops off at any time anywhere on the plant, just so long as you leave a node or two. obviously don't cut when she's flowering unless you doing a clean up of the undercanopy. a lot of peoples outdoor plants are flowering already, but you got a tent and can control light cycle. what cycle you on? you got any photos for us?

  23. Got goofed yesterday and pretended to do some work and created a little music/info video for a cannabis community member. Light it up, drop buds not bombs.

  24. also to note - those stones you have there - are also contaminated with outside bacteria and fungi and will also cause the downfall of your hydro setup. im not sure what hydro you are running, if its a sterile system or living system if you did not know before, well... now you have a living system lol

  25. Well, firstly the plant is probably in a bit of shock due to the roots being messed with. Also I find a drastic change with the medium (like going from hydro to soil / coco or visa versa) can also put the plant into a bit of shock and it takes time to adapt. Lastly, did you mix nutes at the correct strength and did you PH the solution correctly? PH is very important when going hydro or coco. The plant is also busy flowering so will need a bit of time to reveg and come right. Provided the nutes and PH are fine and the roots are in the water then give it a few weeks to adapt and reveg. Once it is back in veg growth should start to explode. I'd say 2 to 3 weeks for a recovery.

  26. You were right @SkunkPharm. I received my order yesterday. It was my first local souvenir order so I guess I was a bit nervous and was expecting Takealot type notifications lol.
