24 December. These plants are between 90cm and 105cm.

I will use this thread to document my experience with the Lebanese landrace strain (from ACE seeds) used to make Lebanese Red/Blonde hash. My main motivation for growing this strain is to try to reproduce the uplifting and clean effects that I used to get from the hashish that was commercially available in SA in the early 2000s. ACE's description of the strain: I germinated 6 seeds on 27 Nov en 6 seeds on 1 November, but unfortunately lost two seedlings due to slugs. The seedlings were germinated in a tent but spent some time in the first few weeks in a small homemade greenhouse to increase the rate of growth by increasing the temperature. I'm in Cape Town and it's much cooler here than inland. Taken on 5 November:

14 December. The two males started growing towards the reflection in the window. I moved them to the tent to prevent open pollinating the females. The tall male is growing fast and is super vigorous. 16 December. All three female plants are flowering.

1 December. All the plants were moved outside by the beginning of December. I saw a big variation in the structure and leaf shape of the different plants. In general the seeds that popped first are the strongest and grew the fastest.

Hey Guys, I've been growing for roughly 3 years now - I have seen every youtube video out there on every single aspect of growing, and in general I'm doing ok with my my outdoor grows (when in season of course) and also approaching my first indoor harvest in a week max - could be earlier. More on why its my first successful harvest indoors later as it might be relevant. Which brings me to my cloning. omg... I have tried hydroponics, aeroponics, drosky method (sp?), rockwool, jiffys, bought seed mixes, made my own mixes, kept rh higher for longer and also tried shorter. sprayed them twice daily and later once - alternating amounts to test all possible combos. Tried tapwater, bottled water, ph'ed and even not ph'ed. With various rooting hormones and gels and also without any hormones. Tried adding very low levels of feed to the spray water, kelp liquid... What I am trying to get across is I have tried everything I can think of and the results are pretty much constant. Days 1 to 10: Cuttings still looks healthy and the optimism is still there... And then from day 11 or sometimes a day or 2 later (never later than 14 days) they start dying. One first and the rest follows quick. I try to remove them too if they look like dying incase its something "spreading", that dont help either. At this point I also have to note that I disinfect everything when I make the cuttings, using scalpel (new), getting them in water fast and everything I can think of to keep them clean. They way they die is important. You see a browning of the leaves (not drying, browning) and then very quick the whole stem is brown and it basically just collapses. The stems are "rotting" (for the lack of a better word) in this final "death stage" of my babies. The parts of the stem still in the medium is usually not gone - as if the rot stopped at the base. The ONLY time I had different outcomes was using a self-built hydroponic/aeroponic cloner. This was right at the start, but I was not happy since my success rate as still around 50% and roots ALAYS took longer than 3 weeks to start showing. That is way too long and I believed when a clone got stunned you will not get the best possible version of that plant in the end, so I tried the rest. Since where i stay (Kuils River, Cape Town) is too hot for clones outside in summer and at times too cold in winter, i always do my clones indoors. Its worth nothing the hydroponic cloner was outside on a "stoep" covered from the sun. I stay in a rather old house - before we moved in the roof was fixed since a large area inside got rained in for a long period while the house was empty (about 3 years apparently). That makes me worry that maybe I have some sort of fungul or bacterial or something inside this house - lol - or maybe it's really driving me crazy now and Im looking for the problem anywhere. Whatever it is it either takes 10-14 days to "do its thing" or the clones are only infected after 10-14 days. I dunno. About the indoor grow - 2 previous attempts failed miserably due to REALLY BAD powdery mildew. Just opened the tent one morning and it looked like it snowed inside. Since then I added better air circulation (literally 20x better) as well as do preventative spraying with organic fungicides and that fixed my powdery mildew problem (which I had outdoors too btw, just not so bad as inside). I hope I covered everything so you guys have the whole picture - below are some photos of my latest and current failure. This is day 17. No roots showing either (never do with me). Note I have not removed "the dead" especially for the photos. They got removed right after.

yes i am using a dome. i have tried various options with the mediums, certain times i sprayed them every time i sprayed the leaves and dome, other times once a day, this time i soaked them in water with a little kelp added and after that only sprayed leaves. they are still pretty moist

12 December. Two plants are flowering.

7 December. Since these plants are semi-autoflowering, they showed their sex quite quickly. I chose to grow out the three most vigorous females (pictured below) and placed each in a 114l smart pot. One of the females were already flowering. Two strong males were kept for seed production.

If you listen to their music you will know they have worked with some big labels. Interesting characters. Enjoy.

@DamDave I couldn't find that article, but I remembered the Irrazinig episodes on The Pot Cast, it's kak long and in 2 parts (like 2 hours each) but a very nice listen. @PsyCLown I think you have it backwards bud. Although life is all about perspective. For me, and many others like me, the newer stuff is all about marketing/hype. Take this "elite" polypolypoly hybrid and smash it together with this other "elite" polypolypoly hybrid. Give it some bullshit desert name and then hype the hell out of it. Do this multiple times in a year, which pretty much guarantees nothing has been tested, and then sit back and watch the fanboys queue up to throw their money at you. Laugh all the way to the bank, while the market is flooded with super frosty boof that smells and tastes the same as the last super frosty boof they grew. The frostiest and possibly "prettiest" strain I've ever grown was a freak Amherst Sour Diesel. We all thought it was going to be super potent and tasty gear. It was straight rubbish. Same with a cut of DOG I had from Ripper. That one was potent as hell, but the high was muddy and although there was a hint of grape terps, there was no taste at all apart from your typical burnt hash flavour you often find on freakishly frosty gear. Are there "new school" breeders who still produce fire. Of course there are. Are they completely overshadowed by the cookie fam? In my opinion... definitely! Think about this for a second... Golden Goose will never be one of the big banks in SA. My partner and I are well aware of this. We've even had a serious discussion about stocking things like autos and your typical hype gear to help improve sales. We haven't done it (yet) though, because then we would be completely contradicting our own mission statement. Making us hypocrites and twats. We wanted to be niche. That is probably going to bite us in the ass in the long or even medium term, as South Africa is just not a big enough market for this type of philosophy or market strategy to work. If we pack up shop, at least I will have tons of gear for my own breeding projects. That will be the silver lining I cling to. LOL! Also, I just want to add that I doubt OSG is testing all his gear either. What I like about him, is that he is sitting on gold when it comes to hard-to-find older "elite gear". He is also an honest guy and a pleasure to work with. If you're looking for gear that has been properly tested with real fire power and that old school flavour, then look no further than Lucky Dog. Skunk VA is passionate about his chemdog genetics, and it shows. Unfortunately, his stuff is not cheap though. You pay for the work that he puts in. Now, a logical person might surmise that progress is just that... progress. Therefore, cannabis strains in general will improve. I firmly believe that sentiment to be flawed though. Before the trend of global legalisation, or decriminalisation people had to do some serious hunting to latch on to anything special. Wether in clone form or pheno hunting through seeds. That led to it's own set of disadvantages, but one of the positives is that growers and breeders cherished what they had and the passion was real. When breeding, it was often done with clear intent on the outcome and they selectively bred towards those goals. Many of those same breeders in today's economic and social climate would probably also just smash unicorn raspberry poop to sunshine rainbow cheerio pebbles and call it a day. So it's not that their moral compass was any better. These days, demand is massive and everyone wants that new new. If you want to stay relevant, you have to pander to that demand. Making it almost impossible to breed to the standards set by the previous generation, who could afford to spend years on a breeding project to get it just right. The Brand is the new god, and every breeder has dreams of being the next Coca-Cola. Apologies if my post came across as hostile. I didn't read the entire thread either, so I might also be in danger of picking up stompies.
