The bud structure is very loose and I'm seeing plenty of foxtails developing. This is good for making hash since a large surface area makes it a little easier to extract the trichomes. The leaf claw symptoms are still visible on about 10% of the leaves on the wider-leaf pheno.8 points

Thought Id share how I plan to keep genetics around much longer, She's been up for a 3 weeks now. This is just because I thought there are a few factors that would make this viable, a decent space which is this secret Jardin 80 x 60 x 80, Which I've been having a lot of fun with, doesn't take up massive space but is still a decent size. Some airflow, ok now bathrooms fans work. Then the interesting part the lighting, I wanted to make sure there was some what enough power. SO I initially thought, hmmmm how to do this without the heat. Good old trusty T8s (have done me well in the past), I'm yet to see what these specific OSRAM tubes do, I used to use the china ones, so i'm sure these will graft better. Might even pop some seeds in the new space. All said and done, the light was about 300 bucks minus the sonoff switch. Have a lekke dag mense!7 points

What's good almal I got a little gift from Haifa today some of you might have heard of people growing or trying to grow plants on the international space station. next month Haifa will be sending some of their synthetic nutes as part of a trial to grow some chickpeas in space !!! I am not directly linked to them, they did a little promo to celebrate this big milestone for their company, one of the gifts ended up in my hands and I like it a lot I have no idea what or why the little figurine, but it suits me well heres the website the barcode takes you to https://www.haifa-group.com/haifa-in-space5 points

Bro!!! This plant has to refund my nutrients. [emoji23][emoji23] I feel like stabbing this plant for wasting my time. It’s my first grow ever. I’ll take it as progress, as I will never make the same mistakes again, that could have stimulated this. I just feel disappointed. Jeez!!! At the same time, I’m glad I showed it to the community because I would have left that gay guy there, not knowing he is busy giving the rest plants doggy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

Not much to report. Plants are growing well. Inhouse had some crazzzzzy initial stretch in the greenhouse, but seems to have settled. Could swear they tripled in height from when the clones were put outside a month ago. Jungle Boy's crosses are loving life. The Creamsicle x Hulkberry is putting on some heavy indica vibes in veg. With absurdly fat leaves. Bugs love them way more then any other plant in the greenhouse though. Brewing up some FFJ. Banana, sugar and some molasses. Have ordered predator mites. Greenhouse Foliar Fed: Keplak at 10ml/L as the sun set. Plants appeared greener the next day, but could just be in my head. Soil fed: Flowering- Terra Aquatica Pro Organic Bloom at 1ml/L and Gro at 0.2ml/L. Pinch of cal mag. Veg - Terra Aquatica Pro Organic Gro at 1ml/L. Pinch of cal mag. General: Diluted worm tea and FFJ in between. Observations: Harvested rain water has a PH of 4. Will need to bump it up when mixing. Sticking to borehole for now. Good PH. Weather has been overcast and a bit humid for a month. Plastic roof for the win. SCROG has been very efficient and simple. But could do half the plants and get the same canopy next time. Defoliation is key. Last of the males showing nuts. The yellow sticky strips are not gecko friendly:( Tent Foliar Fed: Keplak at 10ml/L 30 minutes before lights on. Turned off the fans while spraying and then back on when done. Fed: Just water. Observations: The plants were in 1 lt pots for too long and and got too close to the grow light in veg. Would have been better to repot them at about 50cm tall. Taken a week or so for them to bounce back and get growing again. Next run in the tent will only be my seeds. Pollen chucked a male from Masonic to the In-House and Jungle Boys crosses. Really enjoy the experience of F1 plants. They just seem so vigorous. Diversity is also cool. The Blue Dreamsicle that I ran was admittedly a bit tall, but finished way sooner that any of the other seeded mothers. Also yielded double the seeds. Very tempted to back cross it. Picture update incoming.4 points

Nice, I haven't tried any of their stuff for cannabis growing myself either. One of the farms I worked on before uses their stuff to grow commercial fynbos for export to Holland did business with them for a while so made a couple friends. good people3 points

I read this and I'm dying of laughter But yeah you should get rid of it before it starts dropping pollen3 points

There are better ways to trigger an immune response and I feel you'd want that immune response earlier in flower... Perhaps even in veg. More research likely needs to be done on this for cannabis for us to really know though. Plants certainly start drinking less as they are reaching their end of life. Nutes can also build up in your medium over time, especially if one does not reduce / taper the nute strength towards the end of flower and this can lead to plants being burnt a bit.3 points

LST begins. I really love the process, except when I snap bits off. But I look at it like self-control training. And if you're wondering, that's packing tape wrapped in reverse so the sticky side is on the outside. Found a really sticky one recently. Gnats-b-gone.3 points

Dear Psyclown, Thankyou so much!. 10 out of 10 for that answer!. I feel fully clued up know. Trouble is.......I do get a bit carried away at times. I lived in Spain for a few years and had absolutely no electricity up in the hills. My solar system worked like a dream. I only grew outside, so didn't need too much power. However, the system handled a pool pump for 7 hrs every day , the household water had pumps also. That was 5 years ago. Wow .......solar has moved on from then!. Anyhow, turns out I'll need a lot more power than my old 6 panel system! (Photo). At least now I know what I'm dealing with and what I need to make things work. I'm going ahead with my intended system in the knowledge that I can add extra panels and battery later. I've come to peace with the fact that it will cost me a lot more than I had previously thought!. Just have to wait to get the funds together that's all. Patience is the key. One other thought; What if I scaled it right down to single tent with one plant?. One reasonable plant?. But then I suppose you still have to have the same gear, fans etc. Ah well, my dream of giving Eskom the finger alludes me for now. Thanks again for your valuable insight. Have a lekker weekend. PS, Photos will be sent separately as they are on my pc.2 points

All these babies are autoflowers, will start pulling and culling them in a while. Honestly not growing photoperiods outdoors again any time soon. I planted these Strawberry Vostoks autos in the picure below just as close together as the new ones. Harvested most of the autos in this section. Looking bare photoperiod section doing ok. Those baby autos upstairs will finish before this section. thats why Im not going to grow photos outside again. 3 seasons instead of 12 points

I just sanitised and cleaned up my tent. Hopefully that bad plant has not pollinated the rest of my girls... I will keep you guys posted. I appreciate each and every one of you. Great debate guys, some interesting takes on the subject. I grow Auto’s in Autopots. All the plants (between 2 and 9 depending) get the same feed because of the common reservoir. This can be tricky when I have a mixture of Auto’s which I usually do (3 of the same seeds 3 times = 9 per grow). A harvest for me takes over a week. I have limited time with my grow so can’t get it done faster. So I have to keep feeding because it might be 8 or 9 days from first to last. Not as bad as it sounds since some mature faster, they come down first. I sometimes do partial harvests meaning I remove all the top bud and will leave the smaller, larf / popcorn for another week to get good light. Anyway to cut to the chase, it’s out of necessity rather than preference that I no longer attempt a final flush (I mean an only-water for 1 or 2 weeks flush). Instead I feed with TA Final Part, which is a ripening agent devoid of any Nitrogen. There is mention above that the plant suddenly start drinking less, much less, towards the end. This is very obvious in the Autopot res which isn’t drain to waste, so the plants only pull what they need. And since they are consuming much less, they naturally “starve” themselves as I assume they do in nature. It follows on then that even if I have a high concentration of nutes (5ml per litre), the fact that LESS of it is going into the plant must equate to a lowering of Nute strength over time. This then might suggest that perhaps those who hand water might inadvertently be over feeding plants in their later stage of life. Anyway, I have discovered that the whole smooth vs harsh thing boils down to your drying process, and the taste boils down to your curing process. I got paranoid I was over drying and cut it a bit short. Some of that bud was harsh. The (almost over dried) bud from the next harvest was silky smooth, burned white ash in spite of having no flush, no period of darkness. They did however have lower temps towards the end. There is a school of thought now that flushing may improve taste, not because of leaching out excess nutes, but because of the shock presented to the plant which can trigger more terpene production….2 points

Just bent the tent. Up potted and defoliated first. Gonna veg for a couple weeks, clone and flip to flower. Bought my Mammoth tent 2nd hand and noticed the rust on bottom polls. Gave them a thorough clean 6 months ago, but reckon it's time to replace after this grow. May take a shot at another cleaning but reseal it as well. Cultivars are not in order: Frosted Apricots - In House Genetics Terple - In-House Genetics Tart Pops - In House Genetics GG4 - GG Strains Running a 240w Quantum board from Light It Up for veg and Fluence Vypr for flower. Freedom Farms Classic, Terra Aquatica Pro Organic, Cal Mag, and occasional worm tea or FFJ. Trying floraflex spreader things for the first time. Optimistic. Slows down the waterings/run-off and should help mulch the top too. Predator mites arrive in a couple weeks. Get a feeling that the In-House isn't going to yield much. Growing Bannizle and Blue Dreamsicle next.2 points

Greetings, At some point I will try growing indoors but first will install solar to the house. I am well-known for doing things ass about face sometimes and have just purchased a Solar system. 5kw Inverter, 2.2kw Panel Capacity and 5kwh Lithium Battery. I hope to run a grow inside a 2.4mtrx1.2mtr tent. Do you think I will have enough power to run LED lights, extractor fan etc for probably 10 hrs at least? If your doing an 18hr on and 6 off grow and getting approx +/- 9 hrs sunlight (Winter grow) , that means I will need to run lights etc for at least 11hrs. Will the 5k lithium battery handle this?. Cheers....1 point

Update on the deficiency on the Gorilla Zkittlez. Three of them have bounced back well, two are still in the swing of bouncing back and one seems to be struggling just a bit, but yellowing has stopped progressing. I have given the three plants that are lagging another round of top feed. I think this will get the job done on the two, and I will just need to keep an eye on the one straggler.1 point

Breeding I'll leave to you more experienced grower's for now. Indoors this round I'm gonna try and get a perpetual grow on the go. Outdoor in the shade house I need to up the game from 10l & 20l pots next season so raised beds of sorts are on the way. Worm bin became a worm farm very fast so should have ample castings and tea by then to top it off. You have anymore auto's up for sale by the way? Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk1 point

Thanks for that, I will update at some point!. Photo shows last setup. 6x250w panels. Batteries were 2v with tons of storage. Great system but realise now I need much more.1 point

I hear you man. I've also been exploring a lot of new genetics the last 2 years for various reasons, but I'm amped to get back to working my Chocolope NL line this year, and will probably be taking up next year too1 point

So regarding 6 panels and adding more later, remember that the string of panels ideally needs to be in a certain voltage range - too low and efficiency drops, too high and it'll cause permanent damage to the inverter. If the amps (current) is too high per string / mppt the. That'll just get cut and limited. Also remember you need to take into account the temperatures as that'll affect the voltage, cold weather will lead to higher voltage. So you need to work it out to be in a safe zone. As for going down to a small tent of say 80x80 Putting a small light of no more than 240w inside, will definitely reduce the power required. Smaller tent, means less lights and smaller fans and therefore less power. If running the light at max during flower, fans may come to approx 60w so call it 300w in total at max. In veg it'll be less power and you could get away with just an extraction fan and one fan inside for air circulation. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

Shot bud, I really hope the S1 works with the freakshows, the pollen sacks are starting to form and Im just hoping they actually make pollen. After this cycle im just going to buy a few packs of old school cheese from fastbuds and try to reverse them. No more random auto crosses but just copying things that already work well. Ive got a sealed pack of The Gozer OG from Solfire Gardens that im no longer going to breed with because its photoperiod if thats something you want to breed with. If you ever do feminized autos in the future you can sort me out with seeds.?1 point
-
Thanks guys! Yip that's the 115l smart pot from Hydrobiz. The material it's made from feels quite flimsy and it doesn't have any handles. Let's hope I can get a couple more grows out of them. Next time I will look for something more robust.1 point

Are feminised seeds not different from regular? Because all I have in my grow space are auto-flowers and feminised photos... I can’t wait to perfect the art of growing for real. I’m sick of learning from expensive mistakes. I was told to plant in small cups before transplanting. I went to the shops bought small plastic cups and planted. Then boom [emoji95] someone here has just told me, planting in clear cups will disturb the roots. And autos needs to be planted in final pots. Can I ever get stuff right???? Thanks for that Dookie. My lithium battery is only 200ah!. It's 5kva with 4500w capacity. I still can't get my head around what power is needed for a small setup and how long (hours) a fully charged battery would give me?. Damdave's 516watts has given me a baseline although I 'think' he is running a larger setup?. I'm in the Klien Karroo so humidity is not so much of a concern.1 point

Normally when you think that she's ready for harvest, give her another week. If you really can't wait any longer and risk causing damage by moving her in and out, remove the fan leaves and let her sit for a day or two. No water. No need to carry her outside. Then harvest.1 point

I have for countering loadshedding purposes gone down this rabbit hole, and ultimately decided it would be too costly to keep my setup running for even those 2 hours using an inverter and 2 x 100ah deep cycle batteries. The problem isn't keeping the lights on, as Led lights dont draw that much current. It's the fans(anything with a motor) that draws power out of batteries Hella fast. So while the sun is out and blasting you should possibly be able to keep the environment running, but after dark you will need the grid to keep it going1 point
