  2. Great to see, which institution is this via? I am in agreement here. Frankly, any regulated system our government attempts to enforce will be largely skewed in favour of established corporations or individuals with large capital. We are most definitely going in the right direction in regards to personal freedoms regarding the plant, I do feel that within the next 5 years at the very least nobody will be arrested for anything cannabis related on a personal level. Anybody skilled enough to produce cannabis and wishes to do so for personal financial upliftment should be allowed, and y'know what? They will do so now and after whatever legislation is established. It is not the cannabis industry that must catch up to government, but much rather the opposite.

  3. The deficiency on all the Gorilla Zkittlez seems to have resolved. The whole tent is looking pretty good at the moment. We are in week 3 of flowering. Gorilla Zkittlez Zkittlez x Purple Punch ..and now, some bud pics for @John Stonedwell these are from the previous ZxP harvest, cured now two weeks.

  4. Interesting research. Where the government is involved I'm sure all of us have plenty to say. I'll always take the opportunity to raise my insignificant opinions. I feel our governments approach or any other governments approach for that matter on cannabis is just too much of everything. They are burying the plant and tieing it up in legislation and red pink and any color tape they can find. This is not freeing the plant. Before 1922 there was zero law around this plant in south africa, and there is no reason why it can't go back to exactly that. Cannabis should be entirely removed from all written law.

  5. Hi there! I am currently doing my MA in anthropology at Unisa, focusing on cannabis policy in South Africa. The process entails interviews (and participant observation where possible) with stakeholders form a diverse intersection of the South African cannabis context including, growers, sellers, govt policy makers, entrepreneurs, NGO's, representatives of indigenous knowledge systems. If you would like to participate and make a contribution to the research in the form of an interview, please send an email to cannabis.res.dev@gmail.com, and we can set up a meeting. See the attached informed consent form for more information on study parameters. Most interviews will likely be done over a digital platform like Zoom/Skype for the sake of convenience. Also, participate in the poll, it's anonymous. I look forward to hearing your perspective on cannabis policy in South Africa. Kindest regards, Etienne Study participant informed consent form.pdf

  6. A rationale? I think to broad a term. The government is unapologetic about their open-ness to regulation. In their minds they’ve been too open haha. I love the active stance though, the country is filled with people asking questions, and rightly so. Which ever way it goes, they always stick to the status quo. The Medicines Act. If every decision made is dependent on the wrong foundation. Then we not making progress.

  7. Studying through Unisa. Surprisingly amazing anthropology department, hence continuing my master's studies in anthropology there. My honour's focused on cannabis research as well, but on the topic of public perception, stigma and control.

  8. I really like Quantum Boards, multiple Quantum boards for added flexibility. Also allows for better airflow compared to some other larger lights. Bar lights can be nice, you get loads and can get some which are designed for specific sized tents, however you lose a bit of flexibility with individual height adjustment which can become useful if running multiple strains in the same tent or have plants in different stages in veg etc.

  9. what would work even better, is a still air box. now that you growing mushrooms, you should look into this, gona change the game. the tub I mentioned above, it can be a real big one. infact the bigger the better. if you can get the biggest tub, do it, then cut 2 holes for your hands in the side. then you never have to lift the tub at all, you just stick your hands in and do everything inside there. remember to still wear mask and gloves and spray and wipe down everything. but like this.... took a photo from google

  10. Do it! Do it! Do it! I believe mushrooms have way more health benefits than weed, and if you can grow a psilocybe you can grow a whole bunch of different mushrooms. the understanding is mostly the same, just the resources that's gona differ. such as the substrates different mushrooms prefer and different environmental conditions. once you get the hang of it, it can be extremely cheap. way cheaper than growing weed and takes less space. That's awesome of them, excellent service! I wonder how many times they'll send you a replacement? Till you get it right hahah this actually gives me confidence to order from them have ordered many of these syringes and never got replacements! before you get started this time. do you have a pressure cooker? if not you can use a normal pot, but I would suggest steam cooking your BRF cake before doing anything. and get 70% rubbing alcohol for this, works best for many reasons. anything higher will evaporate too quick to kill anything. I use 70% wintergreen rubbing alcohol from dischem. prep your area, close all windows, wipe away all dust, then spray 70% alcohol and wipe down the surface where you gona do inoculation. get a big tub you cac put over your brf jar and syringe, spray and wipe down the inside of the tub. spray the brf jar and syringe both so they're dripping alcohol, put them on a paper towel and put the tub over them so that no dust falls down on them. this is a good time to put on a mask and some gloves, grab another few paper towels, spray and wipe down your gloves and fore arms just outside of the glove, grab a paper towel and carefully lift the tub an don't create a wind with your arms or hands as you move. like you doing operation, you got a mask on also not to breathe germs onto everything. so be sure there is no air moving around. wipe down the brf jar, carefully lift the tub back up, put the brf jar back under the tub, leave a alcohol soaked paper towel ontop of the injection port, as you take the syringe out from under the tub and wipe that down aswell. now lift the tub again carefully and set it aside, take a lighter and flame sterilise your syringe needle, take the alcohol soaked paper towel you left ontop of the brf jar and wipe it down nicely, as you lift the jar you slide in the needle and as you inject the liquid you move the syringe around so you can spread the liquid in the jar and not inoculate it all in one place. here is a video on the pftek kit from MyShrooms. also a good step by step, but there are few things I would do differently.

  11. If you are going to invest money into lights you should go for the bar style lights in my opinion. Your plants can grow closer to the light as you don’t have heat issues with this style of lights. You also have a better foot print. If you look at large commercial facilities in the USA this is the only lights they use.

  15. Hi Yes from carb I think I am going to stick to the seeds I have now and not stress to much about it, this wil be my first grow and don’t want to buy seeds that I will probably end up wasting, this is just for the trail and some experience. I’m also not to concerned about the yield have done a bit of reading on the subject and need to see wat a female and male plant looks like, what the growth cycle is and what I can and can not do that will impact the plants. My end goal is to grow some nice bud that I can use to make some extract with but I’m in no rush and will enjoy the hobby and see if it is for me or not. I am motivated to grow for the reason the oil I can by is quite expensive and I see why, think the feeling of doing it your self and succeeding is a rewarding one.

  16. Hi So from our side at Vape Store it really depends on the budget. Starts from around R300 for a banger for an an existing bubbler, to top of the range dab rigs such as the Dr Dabber Switch or the Puffco Peak Pro. An excellent entry level but potent , portable dab vape we have found is the Utillian 5 Just give a shout of we here at the Vape Store can help/ advise in any way.

  21. I'm looking at growing outdoors for now and not to concerned about yield and getting the maximum out of the plant, that will come with time and experience. I have some seeds to start off with and planing on planting them in 15L pots so I can move the plants in and out if it gets too cold or rains for too long. I got the seeds from my sister in-law she makes her own extract from buds and with that makes a oil I use and she makes edibles as well. I want to start making my own extract and thought to also grow my own cannabis, take out the middle man! Then I can control every aspect of my own product. I'm leaning more towards the high CBD plants I have been looking at some seeds that I want to try but think playing with what I have now and getting some experience and then spend the money to grow specific strains. If I do it now I fear I'll be trowing money in the drain, the seeds I have no idea what strain or if they are more THC or CBD. I have however rolled a joint with the bud and was a nice feeling of calm and relaxation and I was not baked but just mellow witch I like a lot, but not as effective as the oil and I don't like to smoke as I quit cigarettes about 5 years ago.

  22. Also been following this a bit. So it’s mainly CBGA and CBDA that blocks the vid, and unfortunately heat from smoking or decarboxilation applies heat and converts the acid to CBG AND CBA. Extracting the acids seems to be done in water to keep temps low and prevent the change. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. I ran into a guy at the nursery that happen to hear what I was going to use the pots and soil for and he grows himself and helped me out with some recommendations. Got 2 20l pots and 8 smaller ones. 4 bags of coco peat 2 bags of loam soil a bag of silica sand but its more like small rocks, same size as the airlite and a bag of airlite. mixed it all up and filled the pots so I just need to wait for the seeds to sprout a root and I’m ready to plant. Thanks for all the help I will start a new thread and post to it as I go.

  26. Yeah, give it a try if you'd like. Make sure there is little to no bark / wood as this often makes the soil too acidic for cannabis. I have yet to find a nice soil mix which I'd use for cannabis (other than the cannabis specific ones) and this goes for my house plants as well - so I often mix some coco and perlite with a bit of compost or potting soil as house plants often aren't as fussy with the bark as cannabis can be. Some soils are too hot for cannabis seedlings and you can burn your plants. I do not know what soil your nursery stocks - perhaps consider doing a bit of a test. Get some soil from your nursery for some plants and get yourself a bag of some soil commonly used for Cannabis and see how the results differ (if they even do). I have seen many new members try grow in soil from their nursery and end up with lots of issues and they end up demotivated because of it, it can also be a nightmare to try and nurse your plant back to health and correct the issues. Stay far, far away from Culterra. I plant seedlings straight into 20L pots, however you can start in smaller pots and pot up when needed. Nice! I have a red lace leaf japanese maple, recently put it into the ground as well as a normal japanese maple and then also a liquid amber. That Bonsai nutes will likely suffice for veg, in flower you may want something with more P though and a decent amount of K. Not sure about lemon juice working for pests, maybe for PM as it will lower the PH of the leaves but take it as it comes. Everyone has a different growing environment, so what works for one may not work for the other or the situation may differ. For now - take it as it comes. There are many ways to grow cannabis, there is not necessarily a right or wrong way. You need to find what works best for you. People can give you advise and guidance and say what works well for them or what may work well for you and your situation, end of the day you're the one doing the growing and it needs to work for you. Maybe take a look around the forum, view some of the grow diaries and see what issues some members ran into and how they resolved the issues etc.

  27. in that case man, you are reaaally in the right place!! that Loam soil im not 100% sure about - but what i do know is cannabis does not like soils that compact easily - so if it does compact , i would get some coco and perlite or either of the two to help loosen up the soil. nutrients should be okay... i know bonsais dont require too much feeding, but in saying that, my first plant grew in a bonsai soil and it was AMAZING!!! get those seeds into the pots as soon as you can and put them in a sunny spot - preferably from dawn till dusk kinda sun

  28. Just thinking of using loam soil? my local nursery has and I’ll get some 20l pots then. I also have some plant Nutrients not sure the brand but it is the one I water the bonsai with once every week or so. The seeds are currently in between some cotton. I did put them in water and waited for them to sink before I put them between the cotton. I have some time today to go to the nursery so going to check what they have and I need. My shopping list is as follows: Small pots for planting the seeds when they sprout there first root. 4-8pots Bigger pots 20l at least 4 Enough soil for the pots Lemon juice to spray the plants if they get some mould or insects (was reading it works well diluted 30/70 with water) If anyone has something I missed please let me know! Just a f.y.i only thing I have grown is some jalapeños and I have a Red Maple bonsai witch I bought

  29. Welcome @Dread ! From Carb? Outdoor growing, well, currently we're in the flowering part of the season. So you can get some seeds going however plants won't end up as big and yield might be slightly on the lower side but still worth while to get a harvest in before it is too late. You can always make a quick purchase of some seeds if you'd prefer to know what you are growing, or use this to just gain some experience before winter comes. If you do not like getting too stonned, then some high CBD strains could be good As a beginner, I would suggest getting some nice soil which has been tried and proven to work well for cannabis. Incorrect soil can lead to lots of frustrations and issues - best to spend a little more and avoid these issues as a beginner. Once you know what you're doing, you can start to experiment a bit more. Freedom Farms Classic (green bag) is very popular and commonly used. You can also reuse your soil, no need to toss it out after a grow. If you are unsure about anything, members on the forum will help guide you through your grow to ensure some success.

  32. Many moons ago...did the UK working holiday thing with my two brothers, we've always been best mates. Got introduced to hashish, had it every which way you could imagine, from straight joints to hot knives to japanese fontains and then this crazy aussie oke produces this frozen carved rock pipe from the deepfreeze. Later found out its called a chillum. Better be right with your stuff if you want puff on that thing. We traveled and worjed all over. Harvested hops in Canterbury, met up with some awesome ppl from canada, aus, poland and rsa, we were a lekker group. Did a lot of funky stuff together. Ever seen 8 peeps hotboxing a two man tent.... 20years later we still laugh at that one. Most brilliant time spent with awesome individuals. Remember parking on the hill in Edinburgh waiting for Elton John to open at the Edinburgh castle. We munched some bread with cheese and drank wine for dinner, after there was a friss cone going round before we went in. Music was beyond anything.... It was an epic, crazy ass time with some of my best memories.

  36. first thing that comes to mind, first time I smoked obviously one never parts with that memory, but there's no big story around my first time. second that comes to mind. the highest I have ever been, I have a couple stories, but a hand full of them start with smoking a chillum with some rastas. especially those hash chillums.... dear god.... puff puff puff puff puff till you get a big cherry going then take the biggest hit of your life, will make your vision blurry for a few seconds as you try with all your might to not cough and let the smoke out slowly and little bit at a time, otherwise you risk a cough you gona cough for hours. seriously, fuck any extract or any "pure" whatever, smoke a chillum with the rastas you'll forever know what being high really means. when you have to walk away from the crowd to get fresh air, you turn back to look at everyone and it's like you lost your perception of depth and you seeing double, almost feels like you could pass out at any moment. couple deep breaths of fresh air and a sip of water you'll be good and higher than you have ever been, no doubt. I remember watching the Ganjier on youtube, they discuss all kinds of things for Cannabis connoisseurs. The host Derek Gilman had Frenchy Canoli on, THE hashman! Frenchy packed a hash chillum, this is the only episode Derek actually had a time out after the hit he blew out the smoke and immediatly handed off the chillum! that man was wobbling in his seat feeling like he is about to fall off the side of the planet. hahahahah I am telling you guys, if you have not experienced a proper chillum smoke, it's a bucketlist thing. you'll have a new respect for cannabis and how powerful it can be. Dereks chillum hit at 22:30

  43. Largest Dirty Banana in the room. The photo makes it look thinner for some reason. It is noticeably fatter IRL. That cola is easily 40 to 45cm in length and thicker than a coke can. It is interesting to note that this plant is not as mature as the other DB's in the room, even though it is from the same mother.

  44. Dirty Banana will yield reasonably well, but beach wedding probably only about 40 per plant. I do tend to underestimate yield though. So let's see when the numbers are in. Beach wedding is quite dense.
