  1. When attending 420 events one of the most frequent questions I get is "when are you gonna do another D-Day or Amber Cup?" So I grabbed the bull by the horns when an opportunity presented itself. The Cape Town Cannabis Cup will be taking place on Saturday the 26th of March in the heart of The Mother City. This is conveniently on the same weekend as the Cannabis Expo and will make the most of top shelf local and international guests. Am putting a lot of effort and expense into making this a V-High-P experience. Here's the info for tickets, sponsorships and how to enter. https://thehighco.co.za/the-cape-town-cannabis-cup-2022/

  2. The Cannabis Lords continue to test me with the Gorilla Zkittlez I went into the flower tent for a good bit and wiped any spots of PWM with a paper towel and a mixture of 1 parts milk and 3 parts water, both the tops and bottoms of any affected leaves. I am 95% sure I've gotten the worst of it. Then guess who I find chilling under some leaves, some fokin thrips babies having a lekker chow. It was one of few leaves that had them, so it's early. I then gave all the Gorilla Zkittlez a misting of Spinosad, tops and bottoms of the plants, while they are still in early flower. That should execute the pests for the most part. Then I turn around, and not a single care is being given by any of the ZxP. They are all just styling, chilling, asking howzit. No mildew, no pests. I'm starting to think some plants are not as equal as others Lesson of the story, check your plants, fix things early.

  3. Green House Weather has been the same. Stretch on flowering clones has stopped and they're starting to push flowers. Seed plants have grown like crazy and started pre-flower. Fed all plain water last week. Fed clones nutes this week: 1ml/L TA Pro Organic Bloom, 0.5ml/L banana FFJ, Cal Mag, splash of worm tea. Fed seed plants: 1ml/L TA Pro Organic Grow, 0.2ml/L TA Pro Organic Bloom, 0.2ml/L banana FFJ, Cal Mag, splash of worm tea. Tent Temps still at around 30. May be worthwhile venting in cooler air. Defoliated. Fed all plain water last week. Seeds Finally all harvested and sorted. Now curing. Germination tests next. While over target, I could of achieved way more with thicker strains. Jungle Boy crosses produced double what the inhouse clones did.

  4. "Plants and dry dagga to the street value of R600 000 were confiscated. A R4 million worth of structure that is reported to be used in the processing of the plants was also identified." Get the fuck out of here... these reports always love to blow the prices and "equipment" out of proportion.. you can build an underground indoor set up with R4 mil WTF? And what gram price are they using to spitball R600k? Just seems like a lot of sensationalism to make an honest operation sound more dirty and mafia like...

  5. I agree that a couple more months notice would be ideal. Will definitely take that into consideration for 2023. We have judges passes available online. It will be great way to spend a day and get an idea of what your competition will be like next year.

  6. Autopots and trays prepped and ready! Here is also a picture of how the roots grow into the airdomes for that good oxygen injection straight into the plant veins. I like to just about cover the airdomes with leca pebbles and then fill up with a 60/40 mix of leca pebbles and coco. I find this allows for very easy drainage for the aquavalves to cycle between feed and stop, but also allows for just enough moisture in the medium for the first week where I am still top feeding.

  7. Suppose it's a good time to tell my 75 year old neighbour to tone it down then. Dude woke up one day and decided it's legal now. Asked him what the fuck he's gonna do with so much weed and who is going to harvest. Haven't thought about that was the answer.

  8. I see alot of these on facebook from the SAPS. Often they throw in a firearm or two from a different case to make it look even worse....Funny part is if you know your firearms you would see it's a "stolen" police issued firearm. Fucking idiots. Plus.....I really really hate how they still use words like "dagga" or "magic mushrooms". Complete sensationalism I would agree.

  9. Considering there are 100 judges, I do not feel it is a crazy amount. As you said 5g of bud per judge in total for the day. Yielding 50g from a plant is not unreasonable. Obviously will vary depending on the way the plant was grown and training done etc. However one can easily yield 50g from a plant, perhaps even more... I assume the 50g could even come from 2 plants, which are the same strains (ideally same pheno)? 100x judges also makes it a bit more fair, helps rule out bias from a small group of judges who may just happen to have a preference towards certain terps for example.

  10. Yip, 500g for 100 judges. This is cup where the judges get to toke not just look and smell. Entrants are welcome to take back any leftovers. Would rather have a little too much bud than way too little. It also leaves a little room for that fattest buds to be displayed. Doubt that everyone will get through their 5 grams (10x0.5), although some certainly will. What do you think is a fair number?

  13. And blast off, from 7am in less that 50 minutes, the plants will be going to sleep for 12 hours after virtually 24 hours, I had the time set to 20 hours on, and would always interrupt them earlier and switch on the lights. I was doing this because the plants on the far left and right. Animal Cookies and Serbert crasher were showing heavy pre-flowering sign. That leaves me a tad bit worried how they will adjust now going to 12/12, they may have been triggered from when they were still outside, but anyways, lets see what happens. After the transplant the following was watered in on 2 separate occasions. - Enzymes from dirty hands - Kelpak half dose - Microbes - EPIC 5:2 - Aminos Then about a week ago the top dress was added to each pot - Roughly 1 tsp SEED sprouted&dried mix(red adzuki bean, soybean, barley and mung) blended finely - 1/2 tsp Gypsum - 1/4 tsp Calcitic lime - 1 tsp bonemeal - 1/2 tsp zeolite&rockdust - 1/4 tsp kelp meal - 1 tsp insect frass Then covered that with about a 1 1/2 cups of worms casting. Planted cover crops, mostly mixed lettuce, baby cabbage, gem lettuce.

  14. That shit looks like the dream. As far as I am concerned, on paper, you can spin that farm into within the limits of what the current white paper regulations provide for. At a push, he could even get a few mates to say that he grows for them on their behalf because he has the land and they do not. If he hasn't got any other kak on the property, isn't stealing electricity/water, and pays his rates and taxes, I doubt anyone will give problems. ...unless they a rat.

  16. KmintZ are in! There are four KmintZ and two supporting ZxP. They looking fresh and ready for their flowering journey. I gave them all a nice douse of spinosad before going in just as a preventative to the latest little stint of thrips, of which I saw none of when checking tonight. I got a little fright when looking for more PWM, but it turns out it was just dry milk on the leaves that I rubbed yesterday. Lol me. Otherwise, I haven't spotted any more PWM so hopefully that has been sorted as well. Flower tent looking skits. KmintZ ZxP Gorilla Zkittlez

  19. Key word ''plantation''. Guys who grow to sell flower always go bigger and bigger. I know of a guy in George stealing 15000w constantly with a whole house as a growroom thinking he wont get caught out.

  20. I feel the growth is perhaps a bit on the slow side. However there should be some explosive growth soon. I put some seeds into water on 31 December 2021, by 5th Jan they were in coco in 20L fabric pots and had stalks but few had leaves yet. This photo was taken on 28 Jan: There has been some explosive growth since then as well and you would not think it was the same tent if I posted a picture of what it looks like now. Just green everywhere as they're now getting established.

  21. Hailea ACO-208. It does 35l/m which is more than enough for each pot. It comes with a 6 way splitter. You then split from each of the splits another 3 ways. Then you got your 18 outlets (for my setup).

  23. I see you yeah there shouldn't be conclusions on these types of discussions cause we wheren't part of the team who wrote the books or "rules", these are all opinions I can't speak on institutional religions, because my perspective of it is that it's the worst thing that has ever happened to anything and everything on earth and that is pretty much set in stone, so I don't talk about it much because of that whole "unpopular opinion = truth" thing. accepting death can be something beautiful, just remember without death there would be no life and no magic trick has ever really been done. the mind is easily tricked, though it is capable of all kinds of magic, within itself. but yeah, respectfully ending my string of opinions here ✌ have a lekker day brother!!

  24. Cool man, so do you just bring any random bud and people can judge it?
    2 points
  25. Thanks again for explaining further brother, I appreciate it. Yes dogs don't understand bad words so tone is everything in those circumstances. But funny enough we don't understand frequency or vibration. This here is effective with the absence of words. Someone is in a bad mood, you can feel it but not 100 percent sure what is a miss. I will respectfully end this conversation here. We both spiritual people.

  26. I appreciate how much time you spend on explaining thoroughly what certain things mean, and I definitely see your point about stupid names. They are just names, and are specifically designed to create a response. Like you say, its all marketing. If they can get you in that state of shock about what ever they are selling, then they at least have a lasting impression. You see, I'm a bit more of the flying in the sky type rather than the natural or logical state of things. You see names, I see something else. The weed can be as good as anything bud, I just don't see the need in indulging carnal or reactive impulses. I like to read the bible, and there may be some people who think they have it all figured out, and surely a book from way back when isn't the answer to a new and transformed world, but at the end of the day, given the time to understand and you will see, the relevance is uncanny. Everyone has their own perception of things, bound by our own limitations, we cant see further than that. We are just unable. That's why logically some things seem one way and that's the end of it. Now going back to the weed, if given the chance, I by some flook had to smoke either of the 2 and enjoyed it a ''HELL of alot'' - See what I did there. Enjoyed it to ''DEATH''. These things we being programed into us from the very beginning. Regardless, I still don't accept death or any portions thereof. Ever conscience of my undeserved righteousness.

  27. well, shit... you're missing out man those are two amazing strains you turning your back on! if you do dna sequencing on those plants it wont say hitler and chernobyl, they'll give a code number/name. the generic names really have very little to do with it. the name is just a stupid lable to be able to easily identify it amongst others for the general public it's easier to remember something like hitler or chernobyl, than to remember something like "PX12JFMS976" not trying to change anyones mind, but honestly you wouldn't even know if you where smoking those strains till someone told you what it is and just going off that fact alone it's kinda hard to understand what the hate is all about. both hitler and chernobyl are amazing strains. smoking or growing or naming strains those names doesn't support the events in any kinda way it's not like we are sending money to the institution of Hitler by indulging in that strain. it's not even his strain, it's just a strain. shock value is a marketing tactic. you know the strain called lambs breath? it's not quite chernobyl or hitler, but it's offensive nonetheless. or do people really like the breath of a lamb? same with stuff like gorilla glue, garlic sherbert, herijuana, AK47, trainwreck, god bud, cat piss, skunk, amnesia, durban poison... who really wants to smoke any of that stuff or even be thinking about those stuff when smoking? those are all terrible things in general, but ask yourself why do they make such good weed names? cause they're offensive. do you get reminded of what a joyfull even a trainwreck is when you smoke trainwreck or is it the smell of a trainwreck that is nice? maybe because people like sending money to make more trainwrecks happen? just imagine you actually lost a loved one in a trainwreck, and the best medicine for you is in trainwreck weed, but you don't want the healing cause you don't like the name very much. kinda funny and again shows how little the name has anything to do with the weed itself. ✌

  28. I like the idea of having a constant thread going rather than creating a new thread everytime, so I will be trying to keep most of my stuff under relative topics for now I will start a flower tent log as soon as these ladies move over. finally got the time and space to grow out some of the Deluxe Sugarcane cut I got from a forum member quite a while back. grew her out and made a bunch of clones. originally I was planning on running all DS, but that plan was short lived as I got 2 new cuts before I even had the DS rooted I picked up a Frosted Apricot and a Blueberry Hashplant cut, let's see what we get the small cuts are just backups of all the stuff I got in flower currently

  29. Cool cool thanks for the clarification yo! Will there be an online presence for those not in Capetown? A live testing vibe or something? I'd love to see what is out there and how the judges weigh up terpines, bag appeal, high and smoke of some of the greatest bud in SA.

  31. I don't think there will be any difference. Autopot themselves recommend either is fine.

  32. Sorry about the PM and Thrips, although you've spotted it early so I am sure it will not continue to be an issue until the end of flower I am wondering how much of a difference, if any, would would notice with coco & perlite as opposed to coco & leca? @Dookie69 You also use autopots, what medium do you use?
    1 point
  33. What air pump are you using for the domes? Can't seem to find a good one with multiple outlets
    1 point
  34. I believe it's more for very aggressive plants or strains. The leca they recommend for you to put at the bottom of the pots is so that if the roots get too keen on space, you won't risk the drainage holes getting clogged. It's very beneficial for the system to be able to fully drain the pots before it feeds via the aquavalve again. As long as this is achieved, with or without leca, you should be good. In other words, as long as you're not using straight up clay, I think most mediums will be fine. I personally like using this technique because with the addition of the airdomes which I use, I feel the roots are getting the best of both worlds with a healthy medium to retain moisture, and the space at the bottom between the leca to suck up that good O2, plus never having to worry about drainage being an issue. However it's also important then to use the root control discs in the trays and the matrix sheet inside the pot to stop any dirt or dust getting past the leca and messing with the aquavalve.

  35. I would like to know your thoughts on the use of Leca / Hydro balls with autopots, we know it's recommended by the autopots company, but there's alot of growers who don't use them at all and say plants grow just fine. I did use them on all my plants but one on my previous grow and didn't see any negative effects, this current grow I have not used them at all and again I don't see any negative effects, the plants seem to be growing as normal. So what's your guys thoughts

  36. poor dr.phil doesn't even know the worst of it! or should I say, "mr.phil"? since he's not a real dr.? lol he should look into some metaphysics himself, maybe he can resolve some of his own issues that way too

  37. So entrance is 50g minimum of a selected 10 cultivars that people may or may not be growing as the cup is no more than 2 months away. If that's the case, its highly unlikely I will be able to participate. All the best!

  38. in my lifetime I have gone through a whole bunch of phases, I have been complete different people at different times in my life, my name has never defined me and it never will. it's just an easy way to call me out from the crowd. I believe the metaphysical realm only exists to humans, the power of words people speak of, they don't exist to any other species on earth. Humans created that power in their own minds. the true power is the mind itself. call your dog over, shout at him that you love him and a angry tone and watch his reaction - he'll get scared. now tell him you hate him in a loving tone and see how he reacts - he'll show loving affection. this experiment alone shows you only words only effect humans a certain way because we create that power for them to do so in our own minds. same situation with plants, you know how plants react to music? you can literally play deathmetal lyrics in symphonic melodic no harsh tunes and the plants will be loving life. same with vice versa, play loving lyrics with a deathmetal tune the plant won't like it very much. because there are no power in words. only in the metaphysical realm, but that also only exists in the human mind.

  39. FUCKen Chernobyl was a horrendous event that should never be carried over as a weed strain name for Shit, dam, Fuggits sake! But in all honestly, I do believe there is power is words and names. Ill put it this way, i'm not in anyway inclined to go out of my way to find Mr Hitlers strain or Chernobyl. either way keep on keeping ooon!

  41. these plants may have been stunted, from the previous photo it's clear to see that they where a bit hungry, it took them a few days to settle into the soil, but they got their roots in now and it seems growth has finally kicked in. better colour on all the leaves aswell. I am happy one plant in this run has changed, got a Chernobyl cutting, TGA genetics, it will be replacing the Deluxe Sugarcane for this run as I have some DS buds in jars and another 3 plants in flower so I will have a load of DS for a while, keeping a mother around for sure haven't smoked Chernobyl, have only heard good things making me think about the Hitler discussion from a while back anyway, here they are, only the 5 in the bigger pots

  44. Not much to report on, everything running along smoothe! All 3 the DS plants got about half of the plant chopped back, made a few extra clones. I was told she's stretchy, she was alsmost touching the lights! One of the DS plants is in a 20L pot and is considerably smaller than the rest, the others all in 30L. Seems the FA is going to be the smallest plant, so she gets the middle spot. The tent is about ready will be moving over into flower tent in the next 2 weeks, will be using trellis net to make the canopy more even. Just finishing up in there.

  45. 2 weeks later quick update here, spotted those dreaded spots on the leaves clearly indicating mite presence not on my watch!!! very suspect as 2 of these plants where clones picked up at the dagga farmacy in Paarl, they where said to be pest free and I treated them before introducing to the rest of the family, yet they're the only new comers on my property and now my streak of no pests inside my tents has been broken. I emptied the tent, deep cleaned everything with soap and warm water, then a peroxide spray down and another wipe down. had the plants outside, so did a late night full dose Pyrol on all before going back in the tent. the Pyrol obviously had to toast one plant in the process, wasn't light burn as I did this during night time she's still alive, but a bit behind the others now. at least no signs of mites anymore. going to double up my weekly Neem treatments to twice a week, but lowering the dose a little. only few weeks now before they go into flower, can't risk it now!! I moved all 3 of the DS over to the right, one in bottom right corner biggest and fastest grower, yet all cuts of the same plant, soil the same and treatments the same..... strange, just shows how much plasticity has an impact in so many different ways and factors. so we got the Blueberry HashPlant looking sexy and exploding with growth in the top left corner, had to pinch, bend and manipulate her a little to get her closer to the height of the rest. bottom left we got Frosted Apricots, she's the one who took the hit and is now a little behind the others, already made a full recovery though, going strong and not far from catching up cuts in the middle is for next run, got a French Macaron - THSeeds cut as a gift from a good friend.
