I took some closeup pics tonight to get a lay of the land. Gotta say, the ZxP is looking mighty fine. Gorilla Zkittlez got a little ways to go still. I think I may just take the tops off of the ZxP soon and let the lower branches then develop a bit more. ZxP - 6 weeks, 3 days Gorilla Zkittlez - 6 weeks

Hi folks, So I am getting ever closer to closing of this diary with a great feeling of happiness as I really didn't have a lot to complain about. This will be a rather long entry as I have a lot to share So most ladies went for a full 14 day dry and had the perfect moisture content to allow for a slow dry and to immediately be thrown into the trim bag on day 14. Man this trim bag is the shit though... all 8 plants were done in about 5 hours which is epic, especially for me as the trimming part I struggle to have fun with... I didn't do excessive rotations with the bag to rather leave some sugar leaves on than starting to grind the flower itself. These small little sugar leaf leftovers can just be flicked off when I want to smoke some flower. The buds have been curing in the jars for a week and a half now. A big thank you to @CreX for his advise on another thread on how to revitalize Boveda packs. I followed his advise and was able to reuse all of the old ones. So total weight of the trimmed flower boiled down to 419 grams (would have loved a 420 gram weight for obvious reasons) I also got about 55 grams of top shelf kief and trim which will be used later to make some bubble hash. The top yielders were the Jelly Breath and OSG Cheese coming in at 65g's per plant and the lowest yielder was the Sunset Sherbet on 39g's. The Sunset Sherbet also turned out to be the most fluffiest and least terp heavy lady of the bunch.. A big shout out to my brother @The Grass Baas for lending me his trim bag and Rosin press set up. So with a Rosin press in hand I wanted to press some flower. First started of with 30g's of Blunicorn in the rectangular puck format, double bagged with 130 micron bags (if I am not mistaken) at 87 degrees Celsius. This was a very big let down as the yield was piss poor and the consistency of the Rosin very runny. So I scolded myself and just decided to listen to some sound advise. Second press run was with the Sunset Sherbet as for obvious reasons it would make a nice test batch. I switched over to the bottle tech bagging technique, no double bagging, same micron and heat and this time round the results were epic. Used 24g's of flower and got to just under 3 grams of awesome product. Still not the Mr Canucks yield but we will get there. I also know that bubble hash will yield more so will give that a go in the future. I am now eagerly awaiting my new dag rig setup from @THCSA which is en route. Once I have it I will be able to smoke some of this epic sticky goodness. The lone clone is also doing exceptionally well outside. I have only watered her twice and not a drop of nutes and she is busting at the seems. I might want to take good care of her to have some nice Blunicorn to press again with the right technique. For my last entry I will do the smoke report and also some feedback on more press runs. I will also then share what will be in the stable for my next run, a couple of new OSG strain seeds from @Golden-Goose So here are some pics to fill in the gaps. Firstly, I feel like I may need to start this by prefacing that CSI:Humboldt has no relation to Humboldt Seed Organization or Humboldt Seed Co. Since I know some people get these breeders confused. Where HSO is a budget seed company, Humboldt Seed Co being a bit more pricey and CSI:Humboldt being a long-standing, legendary breeder who's family has been working with the plant for generations. "The Nspecta" as he used to be known on some of the older forums is mostly renowned for his genetic preservation projects and his thorough testing of lines (something that is sadly not as common as it should be). Because he's been in the game so long, he has been entrusted with a large number of elite cuts which he preserves in S1 form, to ensure that the genetic line isn't lost (as happened with the RKS for example). In turn, when I was able to bring in CSI gear, I copped a whole lot of it. The first run I decided on was some of the Chem 91 S1 (SkunkVA cut) and some Obama Kush x Zkittlez. Growing environment and medium/feed Having grown in soil for years, I wanted to make sure I got the truest representation of these plants' potential and while some soil growers are good enough to do that with soil in small pots, I find pheno hunting in 5L pots with soil is always a real challenge, so I opted to try coco with Mega Solutions. They were flowered out in a 1.4x1.4m tent using 3x 240W Quantum Boards, which is a fair bit of light for the area. Obama Kush x Zkittlez Obama Kush is a select cut that was found in a pack of CSI's "Mendo Purps x Bubba Kush" (despite what you may read). What drew me to this cross is that the Obama cut has some unbelievably good looking aesthetics. I'm not one to grow just for visuals, but the Bubba Kush is something I certainly enjoy as well. The Zkittlez on the other side would theoretically bring some amazing terps to the mix with that long lasting mouth-coating flavour, at least that is what I'm looking for from these. Zkittlez in itself has some issues with growth traits, typically growing extremely small and bushy, so my goal was also to find something that perhaps carried the Z profile but with strongest, taller growth structure from the Obama side. Seedling Stage Out of the 7 beans, 1 didn't pop. So I ended up with an initial 6 female plants. They all grew fairly standard, nothing too noteworthy to point out in this stage. Veg Stage The #3 and #5 both looked good in veg, fast growing plants. There was a single outlier pheno which was growing much slower than the rest and also extremely squat and branchy. Immediately identifiable as Zkittlez traits to anyone that's grown a Z cross. I ended up vegging them out for around 6-7 weeks before flip. Flowering Stage These girls really started to shine around day 30 - they are some fast flowering plants! The #3 and the #5 stood out again in flower, with the #5 being a clear early favourite for me. It carries a rich combination of zkittlez and purp terps - with a musky grape flavour layered under a sweet initial blast (at least from rubbing some lower sugar leaves). The #5 was also the quickest, looking basically done by day 50. What I really love about the #5 so far is that it shows the same dark leaf colouration that makes the Obama so beautiful, while also carrying the stronger Obama side of the growth structure. The outlying pheno continues to be wider than it was tall, I was fully expecting Z aromas from her given her structure - but as genetics go, just because you've got one parent's trait doesn't mean that parent is going to pass along the rest. Instead the squat pheno carries an earthy, musky low scent to it and lacks that sweetness the Z carries. The #3 pheno has some really good looking flowers on her as well and is absolutely covered in trichomes. In fact, most of these Obama Z seem to have really good trichome coverage. As of posting this, they are now in day 52 of flower. Obama Z #3 around day 42 Obama Z #2 around day 42 Obama Z #5 around day 48 Chem 91 S1 Generally, it feels like there are a few types of growers. Those who are die-hard chem and OG fans, those who love the GSC hybrids for its aesthetics and then African landrace & Haze-lovers who are looking for those classic old school highs. I've always gravitated towards the chems & OGs. When it comes to the SkunkVA cut of the 91, man the story around it is so unbelievably deep and enthralling that even if you don't smoke, you'll want to grow some 91 after listening to it. The problem with the 91 is that it's a clone-only and also heavily faked by breeders. Not only faked, but just mistaken. There are a few 91 cuts around now from S1s that have been run through, but the SkunkVA cut remains the most esteemed and 'original'. I had a hard time popping these beans even just because I knew I wouldn't have the pack in my collection anymore. What I really love about the S1 is that it's potency is often considered second to none, but it is not good looking flower - most people would probably toss it out by today's standards. It's one of those "if you know, you know" kind of cuts. Though it does tend to hybridize well and carry a lot of the potency, while also not breeding very strongly towards its structure. Seedling Stage When it comes to the seedling stage, the Chem 91 were vigorous with all 7 germinating without issue. There was only really one immediately unique pheno which was the #3, a plant with variegation straight out of the seed. This wasn't too surprising as the Chem D, considered by CSI to be a cross of the 91 (there is a fair bit of consensus these days that the #4 and D are crosses of the 91 rather than sisters, as originally believed). Veg Stage The Chem 91 S1 really shined in veg. They grew huge, with their textbook style glossy curled leaves starting to show well. The curled, glossy leaf trait is well known in the 91, but I am interested as to whether this is perhaps an aggressive genetic uptake of N in the plants or whether it's just simply an expression. What got me even more curious is the sensitivity to N that the 91 has. I was feeding according to the Mega charts and never went too hard on N, but the Chem 91 definitely got some N tox in addition to the genetic tendency to curl and shine. I did more reading and spoke to some people who had run the SkunkVA cut in the US and the biggest take-aways was that it is notorious for being a light feeder and is very sensitive to overfeeding (wish I had those conversations a little earlier). Flowering Stage Another important lesson I learned a little too late is that Chem 91 does not like a lot of light. I started noticing foxtail/airy bud formation, which isn't too strange for the 91, as that is its primary growth style, but this was a bit exaggerated. Also through chatting to some people that had grown the SkunkVA cut, they found that the plant did best almost in the indirect corner lighting of their rooms and tended to spazz out a bit when pushed hard with the light, and here I was at 720W. So I dimmed the lights a little and they seemed to start a bit more bud formation, though it's still not where I want it to be. I'll be taking the winning cuts from this hunt and running them again, most likely in soil - and use the lessons learned this previous run. Overall, the Chem 91 look like they're going to go quite a long time! I imagine day 75-80 at least. They still have a lot of filling out to do. But I am seeing traits that align very nicely with the original parent cut, there's 3 phenos I have my eyes on quite closely, with one particular cut really standing out from a terp perspective. Mostly the smells are leathery, antique bookstores, with a touch of light citrus and fuel. All pictures around day 42 for these I believe. Chem 91 S1 #1 One of the most vigorous of the cuts both in veg and rooting as cuts. The #1 has a mild leathery fragrance with some musk. Nothing really to write home about when rubbing some lower sugar leaves, but it is starting to colour up quite decently. Not the worst looking so far but not really impressing toooo much. Chem 91 S1 #2 The #2 cut is by far more favourite so far. Even early on into flower there was something unique about her. She's got a bit more of a dense (comparatively) nug structure and the terps coming off of her are absolutely mind-blowingly alluring. There is a strong lemon cleaner/lemon fuel coming off of her. There is also better trichome production on her. Overall she's really impressing over most of the others. It's still far from a good grow this round, but I'll definitely run her again and see what she does with less feed and a bit less light. Chem 91 S1 #3 The #1 had aggressive variegation since the first true leave came out from the seed. Regardless of the feed, it retained pretty aggressive variegated leaves along the one half of the plant. The lack of chlorophyll in the variegated parts caused them to quickly become damaged by windburn after it grew into the line of the oscillating fan. This individual cut seemed even more sensitive to feed than the rest, as evident by the even more than normal leaf curling. The buds themselves aren't too bad looking, a bit more solid than some of the other phenos, a bit more trichomes and just less aggressive foxtailing. Smell on her isn't as strong as the #2, but in the same ballpark, also with a slightly leathery/musky element. Chem 91 S1 #4 The #4 is another slightly more impressive pheno, quite similar to the #2 in a lot of the growth traits but it doesn't have those same mindblowing sugar leave rubs that the #2 does. Will be monitoring it though and seeing what she puts out as she matures. The leaves are slightly different from the #2 though, the #2 had a very unique look to the leaves in the first few weeks of flower while this looked more similar to the other cuts in that general expression. Chem 91 S1 #5 This one looks like an extremely long flowering pheno. You can see how far it is behind the others, this is the cut that took a month before it really started to throw pistils. So far I really don't get much off of her. She's a slightly smaller plant but also very leafy. Chem 91 S1 #6 An absolute monster of a plant. The #6 cut is about 6 inches taller than everything else and just had a massive vertical stretch going into flower, though it still has relatively close internodal spacing. A bit similar to the #5, being a much slower flowering cut and also very leafy, which isn't really putting much out there for me to smell yet. Chem 91 #7 The #7 is one of the airiest of the bunch, with some really whispy buds so far. On the nose, she's also just got a leathery and musky scent with maybe some gas in there, but nothing like the #2 which opens up the sinus. Nothing much to report on her.

Removed the pedastal and put the fan back on the floor so that the lights get a side wind. Really thought fan blowing from above although at an angel would have kept the lights cooler.

Thanx man. Yeah I dont think I got the most out of the Blunicorn in the tent but she is looking great in the outdoor set up. Jelly Breath is a ridiculously awesome strain. Super dense nugs and amazingly pronounced terp profile. Will definitely want to run her again.

So I recently purchased a tent for what I think was a bargain (thanks bud, you know who you are) for the purpose of a flowering tent. I was gonna attempt a perpetual grow using my cabinet for veg. I had a good result with Strawberry Vostok autoflower from @Bay Seeds outdoors recently and approached him directly to see if I could get my hands on some more autoflowers as I think I can get one more outdoor going. We've dealt before and PostNet rocks for counter to counter for us guys in the dorpies and farms. His stuff is available at B&B but couriers don't come out here. Long story short. I got gifted what I was trying to order and then some and it was suggested I try autoflower indoors. So autoflower tent. Nice having a tent I tell you but oh boy do I need to buy some more equipment now. Bush Pub profits down, my kitty looking good. Temps are down now so I decided to switch my brand new second hand investment on. Fans: 100mm bathroom extractor as intake bottom left of tent. Click's clip on fan Farmer Makes a Plan extraction top right. Oscillating fan on pedastal not working on keeping lights cool but good circulation for the plants. Lights: left to right. @Light It Up 240W QB Chinese 300W blurple, 80W using a Watt meter. @growopz 2 x 75W QB/Bar. Not sure the correct terminology. So here's to autoflower strains from @Bay Seeds that will be introduced as they break ground under the QB's and I'll wait and see before I reveal what's under the Chinese.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with lights coming out of China. All grown under lights from alibaba, zero issues at all.

Lights: 2 x Nova LED S8 360w (from GTHydro) Home made LED T5 Bank with LED tubes. 600w Dual-Arc (HPS+MH) I had 2 x 600w's running, but 1 transformer blew, and I'll be upgrading everything to LED anyway, as soon as I've got the readies.

whats up man! lets see what you can do with these! i bought a nova S8 from GTH a few years ago, i still have it in my cupboard actually and have been thinking of setting it up as a veg\clone light as the unit pulls 360w from the wall (90x4) and that may sort my clones out and give my space a sweet vibe LOL. they arent actually Nova S8 lights as you can see the fittings are slightly different. when my warrant passed, i opened up the light and its all just chinesuim products sadly. but look, he light grew me some weed and helped me learn a lot about lights! i do feel you should have done some more research on the lights before you bought them as there is muuuuuuch better lighting out there for a way better price point.

If you wanna move away from scrog nets, then look at stakes. With single or fewer colas, staking is not an issue and a single stake per pot works well - use twist ties to secure it to the stake and that should hold the heavy bud up. If the PM gets worse, well, we've discussed an option.

13 weeks, this plant is really starting to do stuff now, seems the flower is bulking up more over the past week. I Plan to harvest this weekend. The plant is bottom heavy, the buds at the bottom of the plants are significantly more developed and bigger than the ones on top which I'm not complaining about. its a long time to flower a plant, but I was expecting at least one plant to take this long during this time of the year. Its hot as balls and I can find a trace of mildew or any other issues so again, not complaining. Will definitely showcase of some nugs after dried and cured, she is very pretty.

Aweh fellow florists, The outdoor flowering window is upon us, our ladies are looking awesome. Whole plant pic followed by flower. 1/2/3/4/5/6/11/12.Fruitpunch f5 7/8. Fruitpunch f2 9/10. Lemon Fire f1 Very happy to be able to run multiple plants that were bred by my own hand. The internodal spacing on the f5's are much more compact than the f2's. Possibly a bit more Swazi sativa stretch vs the Mango Kush compactness going hand in hand with the balance between fruity mango sweetness and Swazi citrus tang. Very interesting for me to see the different traits coming through in the different generations. IPM will have to on point with the compact girls, don't want to pay any more taxes than we have to. Leaf discolouration due to hectic UV experienced in our area. Plants looking amazing in comparison to the lawn, which is still trying to recover. Topdressed with some EWC and more organic material, girls got a AACT watering and a Comfrey FPJ. Next round will be another AACT and a Comfrey/Parsley/Banana FPJ. Cheers

Then yesterday got a email that a bonus will be paid end of month, so back to the vape store and loaded up the UFO induction heater. Yup, although In my defense I did buy them a while ago, when GHT was mostly the goto in SA, and you got what they had. I'll definitely be looking at the 'new' quantum boards for next upgrade. Any recommendations would be more than welcome.

the suggestion made by skunkpharm is probably gona be the best thing for your situation right now. best bang for buck. it's 85w of proper grow light, I am willing to bet that light will outperform all your FOYU lights combined. if I may advise, stay as far as you possibly can from any cheap china stuff, especially when it comes to growing weed and you're focussed on quality. I would rather suggest using the sun as a light source than spending any of your hard earned money on china crap. you just shooting yourself in the foot forking out unnecessary school fees. once you ready to spend around 4 to 7k on a light I may be able to help you a little better, with a budget of around 6k you can easily import all components and build a light worth 10 to 15k. it's really easy as pie, like monkey puzzle for school kids, you follow the diagram, connect red to red, black to black, there you go. BOOM, BIG LIGHT just look at her go!!! that light cost me 4k to build myself.

I still have to decide between Green Poison and Gorilla Glue.

Thanks for all the info. I may be wrong that I don't doubt . When I say flood lights i'm just trying to explain what I have as a light source. As in making it clear I'm not using proper grow lights. The 120W QBs have 4014 SMD leds, the "floods" dont have any markings. The reason why I doubt that they will be better is because visually the LEDs look the same as the 120W QB and yes i'm aware 2 x 50watt is less than 120 watt (Usually these Chinese things make use of the same cheap components) both is the very common FOYU brand , the 120w QB is also not designed for growing plants neither does it claim to be for growing. , I got them from my local China store. I'm sure it would cost more than R200 if they were proper LEDs that put out the right amount of light for growing. I'm willing to give it a shot. But I think I should rather settle for something more fit for purpose. Be it a QB for growing or whatever is available. Market seems to be flooded with fake overstated output which is making it bit hard to find the right stuff. I have recently been to a shop in Pta and dont want to name / shame them because the honestly give good customer service. But they are selling a used 1000watt grow light and swear that it's 1000watt. After some research it actually has a 70w PSU on the inside. Regarding the deficiency Would you say its a Mg/Ca deficiency, or maybe nitrogen. All sources that I have checked points to nitrogen which seems to be common issue when the plant goes into flowering? By the way these plants are growing in white 4l hydro buckets, the light penetration also caused pond scum. Also changed the res many times to try and compensate for deficiencies. I have since bought grow bags per ite and calmag and some other things. When I'm ready I will start from scratch maybe start a thread then I grow purely based on input i get from this forum without altering any thing by my own. Will be interesting. But I think I need to fix the lights first. I can afford something in the line of 2K for lights. Any recommendations ?

Finally got round to re-potting all the plants. As indicated by root circling, could have probably done so a bit sooner. Next time I get clones I'll put them straight into big pots. Jet Fuel Clone (was the damaged one) Special Crystal Haze (... is essentially Super Silver Haze) Special Crystal Haze Jet Fuel Clone Jet Fuel Clone Special Crystal Haze All in all there's now 8 plants. I haven't yet decided how many plants to flower, depends on how big they get over next couple of weeks.

yo! you should get a 2nd net above the scrog for those floppy dicks man! scrog net to position the colas you want to grow, and the 2nd net to catch them and keep them up. Kepepeing them up make a huge difference to finished flowers

Imma be honest fam, pm be fighting me hard this run, but I'm catching every cheap shot it's throwing. I'm like an autistic chimpanzee wiping away any build up with milk and paper towels on any surface I find it. So far, pm clusters have been pretty light and not well established and exclusively on leaves only and mostly on the Gorilla Zkittlez. Just now, I did spot some very very minor traces of pm on the ZxP. I am guessing it's exposer from the Gorilla Zkittlez. I haven't seen any problems with my precious buds. I've got this pain under control with the monitoring so far, but after this run I am going to adapt my setup slightly. Firstly, cheers Gorilla Zkittlez you bloody pm magnet. I am also moving my setup into another room that is one floor up and not directly accessible to the outside. The new room will also have an aircon, which will be great for next summer. I have also come to the conclusion that my scrog net game is absolute dog shit. The plants grew way past the net and have again done the flop of dicks. At least they are still in view this time and not hanging low by the pots again. This will also be addressed in the next run, I'm thinking of doing some topping again and flattening up the canopy. Levels, my man. Gotta think levels. With regards to the ZxP and Gorilla Zkittlez, I'm thinking of reaching the standard flower time of 8 weeks and not hit that extra week of ripen that I usually do. This will be in two weeks time, which going off of the looks of the plants the ZxP looks like it's going to start ripening from now and the Gorilla Zkittlez will maybe start it's ripen in another week. So I think I will harvest the ZxP first in two weeks, then let the Gorilla Zkittlez sit for a bit and make a chop soon after. I've also been thinking of maybe just taking the main colas off first and let the lower branches chill a bit seeing as they are the least affected in general. I also notice at times that even when the main colas are mooi ripe, the popcorn nugs that aren't as close to the lights don't look as ripe, but somehow always through the curing process end up sorta kinda similar. Its really neat work, im sure you will be pulling out some fire, those girls outside look very very happy! Continue posting and detailing your grows, i'm sure there's much we can learn from you too.

Even if your meter were 100% accurate, you'd want to be hitting more like 700 umol when in flower, so you've got half the power you need right now. For one plant, you'd be much better off with using this 120W QB than the flood lights. If it's too hot for your liking, maybe mod it and attach a PC fan to it. I am sure someone here has done it before and can guide you.

So at this rate I might even flip next week Friday, I've topped the biggest bunch of clones to keep them low for now and allow the others to get some height. But for the most part they are all really big, seems to be this pheno is indica dominant so that might prevent the ridiculous stretch associated with in-house. Also had issues with canna nutrients, bioleaf not being buffered caused some issues and was not arsed to do calmag, so I opted just to complete my GHE nutrients and see how far I get with what's left. I'll be ordering two more net's next week also after having a chat with @PsyCLownI am going to look at getting the netbow feeding rings as well and do drip irrigation during the flower run.

And no fungus rats.

I've been looking at vaporizers for a while and finally decided on a dynavap M 2019. I've never been a smoker so vaporizing is very appealing. I initially discounted the dynavap range as I thought a battery operated vaporizer would be much more convenient. However after looking around and getting some advice it seems like getting a cheap vape is a bit of a gamble. I considered the Via which is relatively cheap but I've seen a few negative reviews saying that they tend to break and the battery goes flat quickly. The vapes that do look good are way to expensive for me at the moment. My dynavap arrived yesterday and I'm way happier with it that I thought I would be, and I had high expectations . It is pretty small and does not hold a lot of herb but certainly enough for one session. Using a torch lighter is actually really convenient as I'll never run out of battery. It does take some getting used to though, where to heat, angle to hold etc, but there are plenty of guides on youtube to help. It is also the cheapest vape that I've seen! I'm extremely happy, I think even if I had a good quality electric vape I'd still want one of these around. For whats its worth from a newbie, I'd highly recommend one.
