Howdy! So been a while since I last had a grow diary. New year, new grow! Decided to skip through the boring veg part - but to bring you all up to speed I got some seeds from @Golden-Goose and BnB (all regulars). Popped them on 31 December and flipped most on 20 Feb (from seed takes quite a bit longer than from cutting). So I got the following seeds: GG Wedding Mints (GG Strains) Critical Banana (Old School Genetics) Pineapple Chem (Golden Goose) Dosi Punch (Symbiotic Genetics) I had fucking horrible luck with the Dosi Punch, only ended up with 1 seedling which stunted and is still in veg. Hoping it is female. BnB won't do anything, the breeder has not responded to me - waste of money unfortunately. Hope this plant makes it worth it though. All other seeds germinated without issues. I think there is also one GG Wedding Mints in veg as that plant was taking its time and I did not want to wait any longer to flip as some plants were getting pretty darn tall already. I have already culled 6 or 7 males, there is one more plant which I am certain is male - will double check tonight and cull it if it is infact a male. At the same time, I decided to try a bit of an experiment and have put some plants into 10L pots, no training. See how that does in terms of yield and convenience. So this grow diary is a bit of a mix between some plants being grown from seed, as well as an experiment and to ensure the tent is full, I will likely be adding a few other plants into this tent to flower them. I plan on adding a Banizzle from @THCSA which is a Jungle Boys cross. The bud I saw from this plant looked fantastic and the bud I got to try was superb! The plant I have is from seed so hopefully it is female and we shall see what pheno I get. However I do plan on buying a pack of the Banizzle and some other seeds from Lank Dank Seedbank in the very near future! As for the experiment with the 10L pots, I have a mix of plants - some I have run before which are frosty AF but low yielders, some which I have run before which yield well but lack frost and some which I have not run before and have no clue what to expect. These are the strains in the experiment: Platinum Punch (In House Genetics) Bananium (In House Genetics) Crescendo (Ethos) Zweet Insanity (Ethos) Citradelic Sunset (Ethos) x2 I do not think I will be focusing much on the experiment, more on the other plants in the 20L fabric pots. Here is a pic I took over the weekend after I did a defol. The plant at the back which is still busy.... pretty sure its a male.7 points

Growing from seed and doing a comparison isn't ideal, there can be quite a few differences when growing from seed. I have purchased packs of seeds where one plant looks nothing like the other and then a 3rd one is more along the lines of what I'd like. I have also grown the same cutting a few times and due to inconsistencies, ended up with bud which looks as if it could have been from a different strain despite it being a cut from a known pheno. Small changes can make big differences and depending on how accurate you want the comparison to be, you need to try ensure everything is as much the same as possible. Although possibly too late to look at sourcing 2 clones of the same plant - still going to be cool to see the differences, although differences in terms of terps, trichomes, yield, bud structure all go out the window and cannot be accurately compared. To put it into perspective, the below two pics is the same strain, just different phenos. Not the biggest difference I have noticed, just what I have pics of.4 points

I have taken the tops off of the ZxP plants at 7 weeks flowering. Trichomes are all milky and I can't really spot any clear bulbs. In the past, I've always gone 8+ weeks on the ZxP but I've opted for a staggered harvest on the ZxP for now. I will let the lower branches go for another week. The bottom branches are nicely spread across the net now, so there's that. Not losing the tops to bud rot for me is just an absolute win right now. As for the Gorilla Zkittlez, it's a world war going on there with the powdery mildew. The milk and paper towels solution aren't working anymore so I am just plucking leaves now, and the stress is starting to show on the plants. I am going to also take the tops off of the Gorilla Zkittlez in a day or two from now. The bottom buds are definitely not as developed as the ZxP, so I am going to have to see as I go as to what I will do. I'll do a detailed post on the Gorilla Zkittlez tonight. ZxP4 points

Alright, so the experience with the Gorilla Zkittlez and powdery mildew has been enlightening. It appears that for the most part, the PM gets as far as the sugar leaves and then kind of gets "trapped" by the sticky trichomes. To my delight, it seems that none of the actual buds have been compromised thus far. It is getting a bit much plucking every heavily affected leaf from the plants, I can see the plants starting to stress further. The game plan is to take the tops off tomorrow evening, same as the ZxP. Then I will try to push for another week as well as pluck as many affected leaves between now and then as possible. So I had a chat with @PsyCLown and We spoke about it being much better an experiment given the chance to grow 2 clones of the exact same genetics which I agree, so I will be adding these 2 GG #4 Josey Wales clones run simultaneous with the sugar widows, same set up, same feed for the experiment plant. So we will be able to somewhat conclude between seeds and clones. adds another dimension to the testing which I’m happy about. The GG is 3 weeks in flower tomorrow. We will see how she progresses during the experiment.2 points

What's up 420fam?! I started another grow this time only doing 2 plants. 1x Jelly Breath and 1x Blunicorn. Both in 35lt pots feeding Mega Solutions with CannaPro coco perlite. I flipped to flower on the 6th of Feb currently on day 22 of Flower.1 point

Ya the difference in environment from grow to grow I think will effect huge changes in how plants end up. Yeah, its not going to be super accurate but just a fun reflection or comparison. Clones do very different things from grow to grow I have noticed as well. I do expect the experiment plant to be bigger or yield more having more available nutrients. But nothing is certain. Too effect this theory somewhat, I will be making the small plant the experiment plant and the bigger one the control. Let's see what happens.1 point

Heard last week that a previous cup in CT charged cup entrants both bud and a cash entrance fee.1 point

Lekker. Ja a sober smart ass is normally not such a smart ass when dealt with the correct way.1 point

Had some people over for a braai yesterday and the one chick starts on how some fertilizer, this and that will help the plant. My wife and I tried explaining to her that we busy with an experiment and letting nature do her thing. I'll give her a few points when she said it's ok if we use organic fertilizer. Anyway, gave her a fat Tortoni and she kinda went into a coma and sat one side with a massive grin on her face. Plant is small but looking healthy.1 point

My very first indoor grow was FF green bag with hydroponics A,B,MKP nutrients. I called it beginners luck, because it turned out great, but literally everyone and their aunties soiled themselves when they heard I was mixing organics with synthetics. like that was the worst thing a grower could ever do. Everyone had their reasons, random people would come out the boendoes standing behind the seasoned growers, calling me out for defending what I was doing. I stated it was my first real indoor grow, so people jumped to the conclusion that I knew nothing about anything plant related quite a few people didn't like the fact that I didn't wana listen to their seasoned advice, but yeah this is how we learn who to take advice from These days companies like GreenHouse Feeding and quite a few others actually make nutrient lines that combine the two styles of growing and it seems to be much more accepted these days. As time goes on we will se more and more of this. Lekker fingers crossed for no losses and better results than anticipated!! with a ph and ppm pen, you really can't go wrong. run off tests and slurry tests have saved my crop quite a couple times.1 point

I took some closeup pics tonight to get a lay of the land. Gotta say, the ZxP is looking mighty fine. Gorilla Zkittlez got a little ways to go still. I think I may just take the tops off of the ZxP soon and let the lower branches then develop a bit more. ZxP - 6 weeks, 3 days Gorilla Zkittlez - 6 weeks1 point

Imma be honest fam, pm be fighting me hard this run, but I'm catching every cheap shot it's throwing. I'm like an autistic chimpanzee wiping away any build up with milk and paper towels on any surface I find it. So far, pm clusters have been pretty light and not well established and exclusively on leaves only and mostly on the Gorilla Zkittlez. Just now, I did spot some very very minor traces of pm on the ZxP. I am guessing it's exposer from the Gorilla Zkittlez. I haven't seen any problems with my precious buds. I've got this pain under control with the monitoring so far, but after this run I am going to adapt my setup slightly. Firstly, cheers Gorilla Zkittlez you bloody pm magnet. I am also moving my setup into another room that is one floor up and not directly accessible to the outside. The new room will also have an aircon, which will be great for next summer. I have also come to the conclusion that my scrog net game is absolute dog shit. The plants grew way past the net and have again done the flop of dicks. At least they are still in view this time and not hanging low by the pots again. This will also be addressed in the next run, I'm thinking of doing some topping again and flattening up the canopy. Levels, my man. Gotta think levels. With regards to the ZxP and Gorilla Zkittlez, I'm thinking of reaching the standard flower time of 8 weeks and not hit that extra week of ripen that I usually do. This will be in two weeks time, which going off of the looks of the plants the ZxP looks like it's going to start ripening from now and the Gorilla Zkittlez will maybe start it's ripen in another week. So I think I will harvest the ZxP first in two weeks, then let the Gorilla Zkittlez sit for a bit and make a chop soon after. I've also been thinking of maybe just taking the main colas off first and let the lower branches chill a bit seeing as they are the least affected in general. I also notice at times that even when the main colas are mooi ripe, the popcorn nugs that aren't as close to the lights don't look as ripe, but somehow always through the curing process end up sorta kinda similar. I'd like to play around with this idea. Oh ja, and the KmintZ are lekker. Just vibing. Now for some pictures. ZxP Gorilla Zkittlez KmintZ Veg Tent1 point
