High all. Will publish the results and names next week when back at the office. Taking a short break to savour CT. A huge dankie to all the entrants, judges and sponsors. As well as Sensiva Cafe. This was a short notice event but was an opportunity to get the joint rolling. The feedback has been amazing. People and brands are jumping on board for 2023 already. Definitely some things to do next time that will make it bigger and better. Including HPLC testing. Will share as many pics and vids here as a I can. Didn't really take any of my own:( This was a be there to experience it kinda thing. The buds and company were top shelf. I will be growing this event slowly each year to ensure that it is sustainable and dank AF. There has also been requests for a Joburg cup. What do you think?11 points

Big flower tent keeps on pumping. Looking at roughly two weeks before chopping the most developed ladies. KmintZ ZxP ZxP (Young) Wedding Cake Some of the KmintZ clones still look like they are revegging and have some funky looking top leaves. I had initially kept the lights on 24hrs during the beginning of the reveg and then later switched back to 18/6, but I am going to switch back to 24hrs until every plant, including the Wedding Cake clones, look like they are completely in veg stage. I think I will top the Organic Tent™ in the next day or two and begin their training.5 points

I do not think I've seen too many topics or conversations to this regard. Could be helpful to some. In my mind, 1m2 is almost the most ideal space for 4 plants, or even 1,2m2. The whole idea obviously when it comes to growing and being as efficient as possible is to fill the space per say. And this will give you the best result. Fill the canopy rather. Then many factor come into play. The power of your light(s). The coverage. The strain. Do you have your environment in check? all the rest... There are unlimited options when it comes to growing plants for a desired outcome and this all comes back to relevance in your current space, ours being South Africa. In the states, you see many people adhering to a plant count and making sure they are somewhat abiding by the amount of plants they may have. Not all cases are relevant to the topic and some people are doing what they have been doing and will not change until by means of force if that day ever comes or these matters are taken that seriously over there. I see our government are still serious about locking growers up all in the name of intimidation as these things go nowhere, based on the seriousness of the offence. This is all in the name of feasibility in our current situation with the unreasonable guidelines we have been given. So back to filling the space. We are allowed 8 flowering plants. I've seen some growers absolutely smash it out of the park with 8 plants. I don't think I remember there being anything said about how big the plants are allowed to be, but then again, time elapsed would balance things out quite a bit. For a bit of a conversation base or some back and forth. Lets look at a very specific example. and Give 3 scenarios for this set up and see what would prove to be the best result. Yes this is for growing the most possible cannabis, as we smoke a lot and there is only so many Gs you can harvest at one time. The tent size is 1,2m2 - 480W bar LED for best coverage. Scenario #1 - 4 plants, each plant is in 20L pots (organic or salt nutrient) Scenario #2 - 9 plants, each plant in 10L pots (organic or salt nutrient) Scenario #3 - 4 plants, each in 40L pots (organic or salt nutrient) There is no right answer, there is however 1 illegal one (not yet actually), but I cant imagine 8 plants making a perfect square. These are the types of things I like to think about. More plants obviously mean quicker cycles and more harvests, significantly easier to fill the space. Growing few big plants can prove time consuming, but rewarding at the end of the day. But do you actually fill the place, more importantly, is your concentration of buds the same if were grown sea of green, also quality of bud. All these pros and cons, if anybody would like to add in any additional information, please do. There is not right or wrong answer once again, this is all just for conversation. I've seen 20 x 10l pots in 1,2m2, and honestly the thought of that management makes me sick, with my style of growing. But I don't think you would be disappointed at the end, given everything goes smoothly. If you have some scenarios that you think could be absolute winners, lets hear them.4 points

I like this! Exciting topic! Growing weed is no competition and we shouldn't create stress for eachother, however you all know I am guilty of this hahahah but for more important reasons and in the spirit of not wanting to waste money or space or time it's always been a good thing to look at every interaction as constructive rather than destructive and take notion in the fact that the very very very best grower in the world is literally trying to figure new and improved methods to better his growing all the time. that's what makes them the best, knowing there's always room for improvement and doing something about it! I am showing a old friend of mine how to grow and he keeps showing and telling me about people that he knows who grow weed and how they did it and it always comes down to "who spent more money and who used more resources in comparison to who's grow performed the best in their respetive situations." one guy filled the floor with pots and bought a kak load of expensive soil, didn't even have a full canopy. other guy mixed his own soil, had a couple 30L pots spaced out nicely in a smaller space, plants nicely trained and spread out over the foot print, couldn't see the floor through the canopy, yielded more weed in a smaller space with fewer resources in a shorter amount of time. now the question I ask him, which of those two examples you wana follow? My main focus was always max yield in the space I have. Good genetics comes after at least knowing how to grow first! I am using a 1m2 for flower space so I couldn't really make the veg space bigger than that, would be impractical, the reason I got the 1m2 is because when I first got it, that's all I has space for. Would have loved to flower 8 big plants at a time from day one, but didn't have the time, naturally I got the best I could work with at the time and pushed it. I think a setup that can accommodate a perpetual cycle would be ideal, or a "conveyor belt system". 3 different spaces = Mother+Clone space, Veg space and Flower space. With flower space being the main focus. If you can have 8 mature/flowering plants and have them as big as you can it would be ideal to get them as big as you can in the space that you have. IMHO, a plant shouldn't be flowering in a pot smaller than 20L and not without a veg time for at the very least as long as the flowering period is or idealy twice as long. a plant needs to become a certain size before it can really fully express itself, but really just my opinion. no real merit to that statement, I just wouldn't do it. I feel I have never grown a small plant that has delivered the same results as the same plant grown out to full size, the bud never fully developes. The minimum space to cover with 8 x 20L flowering plants, I would say, is a 1.2m2 flowering space. then the plants get squeezed in and they stay relatively small. again my opinion. Let's say you have a 3m2 flower space or bigger, the rule stays the same - Only 8 flowering plants. All that needs to be done to fill the space is increase pot size. Keep the amount of pots at 8, but make them 60/80/100L pots. this will easily fill the space, if it's indoor even easier cause you can veg them how ever long you want. If you have a smaller space than 1.2m2 I would flower less than 8 plants, because like you said, you could fill that 1.2m2 space with 4 plants in 20L pots. Just veg them a little longer. bigger pots will help too You could do every thing in one room from clone to veg to flower, if you have the time. so really all the rest here is about saving time. Veg space - the only way I see this is, however closer to the same size the veg and flower space is, the quicker your perpetual cycle will be, because this allows you to use all of the 8 to 12 weeks of flower to veg your veg space wall to wall, giving you an already filled flower room once the previous batch comes down. the bigger the difference in room sizes the longer the gap in over lap, and you might have to switch your flower room back to 18/6 sometimes for extra veg time to fill the bigger room. this is wasteful in my opinion. Idealy one would like to keep both rooms on their set times, 18/6 and 12/12, and keep them there. but still make sure not to move the plants over till the space is filled. Mother and clone space - this can take up quite some space, however you can do this outside and do not need the best lights and all that. you could also make clones and leave them in your veg room somewhere between pots or in the corner under the 18/6 light cycle. once space is used properly and minimal time is wasted I can starts to focus on adding another flower space and later another veg space and staggering the harvesting every 4-6 weeks, first one room then 4-6 weeks later the other another 4-6 weeks later the first one again. remembering that 8 plants is the limit and I can just increase pot size and extend veg time to fill bigger space. excited to see what others say?4 points

Week 7, the sherbet crasher has definitely been in the tent way too long, It should have been cut down long ago. However the plants are nearing the end so just going to wait a few more weeks. As for the others, I cannot wait for the rerun. And then this was actually about the soil recipe, I’m happy with the recipe, just would possibly have done a few things differently. This is just something I’m pondering as some plants were happy in the soil and others not so much, some neither here nor there. once the run is complete, I will decide weather I will be adding in optional recipes similar to this one, but just more forgiving.3 points

I see Dricus has an oppertunity of a life time against Kevin Gastelum. I really hope he shines man!2 points

First couple of branches chopped. Removed 2 more fokken wurms. Did a 3 bucket budwash, here is the wurmkak washed off in the 2nd bucket. Cut and threw out all infected buds and still got a nice haul But alas. Barely made a dent in the plant. But by bit over the next couple of days it seems. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Nice points, I have read and think I understand all your views which is good info, and valid stuff. So if you talking perpetually, then there are other factors that come in as well, so veg to flower, with all considerations is where I’m thinking to have it solely based on performance in that space kind of. However, either way you look at it. There is more than likely a transplant that will happen, I’ve seen really good results transplanting into the bigger sizes from start, however I’m not feeding. I would ideally like veg and flower to be in the same place, which will definitely maximise probability of higher yields. Then have tents overlap in harvests,2 points

Yeah man that's a huge step up and Gastelum will be hungry for the win om the current win/loss streak he has. Dricus will struggle to knock him out, I don't think he has been knocked out before. And Gastelum also has some great wrestling if it goes to the ground. Dricus also has a submission game.. Gonna be a a crazy nerve grinding wait for that fight. A win for stilknocks will put him right up there to start challenging top 10 fighters. Amazing opportunity can't wait1 point

Quick update, every time I water the other plants, these get 1/4 dose of bloom nutes. They seem to be responding well, will move to half dose at 3 weeks1 point

This is week 5 for the KmintZ, week 2 of ZxP, and week 1 of Wedding Cake. I've taken clones of the Wedding Cake plants in the flower tent, and also trimmed up the lower branches. The KmintZ continues to push on in the flower tent and is looking great. At about this time in the last batch I was already getting bitch slapped by PM, now not so much. Small victories! The KmintZ clones in the veg tent also appear to have fully reveged now and are growing more in size. I've setup the new Organic Tent™ and have the materials ready to go. Inspired by @The Grass Baas I am going to train 4 plants under a net in a 1.2x1.2 tent and see if I can get some chonky heads for the boys. I'll be using 20L pots, FF Premium Classic soil, BioBizz nutes and 320W total LED spread between two 240W QBs set to ~160W each. I have some clones ready to go so I will probably do a round of ye olde ZxP. I'm thinking of reducing the pot count in the big flower tent and growing all the pots with the same strain at the same stage of growth after finishing up what's currently in there. Seeing as I have the additional Organic Tent™ to do alternative strains I feel I am wasting the potential of the bigger tent by not doing training, plus having the AutoPot system will make it a breeze as I will only have to worry about the training and not watering every plant by hand. Yes indeed1 point

Yeah, I got worried around week 3, they still looked like plants in full veg mode so I checked the tent for light leaks and I double checked the cycle if there's nothing strange going on, found nothing. The BHP and FA had pistils around week 3, but the DS only made pistils mid week 4. I got my wendy house semi-insulated, mostly so it doesn't heat up like wendies usually do, but this also makes the wendy black out inside and then the Budbox tent is new and the material is more canvas-like than threaded material, I aldready made sure, but there are no pin holes, no zip holes, no duct holes, no plug lights. nothing of that matter. I am not sure if this could be it, but what I did different this time was reammend the soil right on the day of flip. at the time the plants where hungry so when I reammended the soil they reacted real quick, couple days later they exploded with veg growth and basically they are still exploding with veg growth, that's really the only thing I could gather. Hell yeah, I am very excited about the BHP I have not grown the FA before. Had one small DS plant flower with my previous batch, the mother these clones came from. she's a keeper - my photos don't do her justice1 point

Lots to update! I have switched my lighting schedule around in order to have my lights-on during the day instead of at night. Our house has gotten a solar power upgrade recently so I'd like to take advantage of that to offset the electricity costs. I can accommodate the additional heat during the day now so it's a win. I have cleaned up the bottoms of the ZxP that went in last week and I have also switched the reservoir tap on, so auto feeding from here on. While I was at it, I also put the Wedding Cake plants into the flower tent after a preventative treatment of spinosad. They will be top fed for a week then the reservoir will be put on for them as well. Veg tent is looking kinda empty now! I will take the Wedding Cake clones in a week after they have settled in the flower tent for a bit. I have finally finished trimming all the ZxP lower branches from the drying tent and have added them to the total along with the tops. The total for the last batch of ZxP was 257g. So the ZxP harvests in order have been 87g -> 136g -> 257g. All 6 plants each. I think that's progress! Although the yield has increased, I have a mega bunch of popcorn nugs, not including the tiny nugs I just decided to throw into the trim bin for making extracts. I would like to work towards developing the buds more independently on each plant and have fewer lower branches. I think my scrog net game has also improved somewhat as well! We will have to wait until the big 'ol flops start flopping to test it out.1 point

I have potted the KmintZ clones, 8 in total. I will only need 6 of them, but you can never be too careful with a new strain! The Wedding Cake plants will soon be potted into the flower tent, thinking maybe another week. I have also weighed the trimmed tops of the ZxP, as well as the Gorilla Zkittlez. After I have trimmed the bottoms of the ZxP, I will add it to the total with the tops, but for now the ZxP weight only includes the tops. ZxP Tops: 115g Gorilla Zkittlez: 173g1 point

After 4 days of toil, I have finally moved my setup into the new room. Everything is fresh and clean again, for as long as that will last. There's a bit more space between the tents so I can definitely clean more regularly. I had thought I might be cheeky and squeeze in another 2.4x1.2 tent but I'll probably only get another 1.2x1.2. I am thinking of doing an organic tent with fabric pots and FF soil. Stay tuned. Before I transferred the KmintZ, I gave them a spray of fungicide in case any PM decided to hitch a ride into the new spot. I decided to change the layout of the fans in the flower tent a bit. Instead of having the two fans both on the ceiling blowing down, I now have one in a corner on the ground, and one on the opposite corner but above the canopy line. I do believe there was plenty of stagnant air below the canopy and I feel it had contributed to the development of the powdery mildew in the last harvest. In order to allow the bottom fan the space and ability to blow without unnecessary resistance, I have removed one pot from the tent from one of the corners. I have taken the mature ZxP plants from the veg tent, potted them up and got them into the flower tent. They were looking really keen for the flip, and they had grown a little past where I usually would have wanted them, but the move had taken a little longer than expected. Due to having one less pot in the flower tent, I only potted up 5 ZxP and have reserved the remaining 6 pots for the upcoming Wedding Cake plants. The KmintZ clones in the veg tent are developing roots, also took roughly 3 weeks. Winning! This is also the first time I'm taking clones within the first week of flower instead of keeping mothers and I can see the difference between clones taken in veg. The KmintZ clones are pushing pistols quite heavily, so I predict a period of reveg. Not to worry, I think the timing might work out quite well as the KmintZ in the flower tent have still quite a bit to go. I will pot the clones after they have the vent open for a day or two to climatise.1 point
