I've owned the 600W Blackline electronic ballast and it's as loud as any airpump or fan I've used, except instead of a hum it's a high pitched rrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeee!!!!2 points

I have also been checking that light out, don’t know if the diodes matter too much, but surely enough to be mentioned or named atleast.2 points

Hello 420sa members, Sunday is always a good day for a small bit of gardening, my garden is a wreck at the moment, but we are still kicking, some updates on the plants, I think they are flowering better here, let’s see how it goes. the experiment plant of the Gg#4 clone is setting up for its second flower and I couldn’t leave it in its 10l pot as I would certainly run into issues, so I gave her the 40l of used soil well depleted, and will still be feeding, now more aggressively, they both will it 1ml p/L today. Gg#4 experiment plant, then cut off all the lady bits and topped her so let’s see how that does for her Gg#4 control buds sugar widow control, starting to make her way into flowering, nice stack on this plants, nice leaves Sugar widow control , getting some frost very similar Structure also stacks very well, these plants are the type I’d definitely want to grow again @Totemic and pm is running wild in these parts but we treating as we go and they are surviving. Yielded a Gg#4 experiment tester, this one with nutes, let’s see how she smokes, I will be honest2 points

This is supposed to be more than my current flower tents output, at 600w in a 2.4x1.2 tent, and feel if I replace half my lights, in the middle, with the Lumii 720w, and still have the outside 300w, I will be happy enough. Will post pictures and video of unboxing when I get it2 points

I can agree with that, hence why I think I overdo it a bit and use more than necessary but at a lower wattage then crank it up midway through flower. The single unit bar LEDs definitely have a spread advantage per unit, and therefore better operating temperatures. I tried finding it again now but I can't seem to. It was in a pdf of the Lumii LED from a store overseas I think, if I find it again I'll post it.2 points

As I havent had one, didnt know this, how bad is the sound? And would the latest digita ballast be better? Thought that they all would do the same thing essentially, take 220v AC and make it, X amount of Watts, in DC? Probably should have looked into ballast lol, but here we are...1 point

Let's say per 1.2m², 1000W but you don't need to run it at 100% all the time. Would also help with longevity if you could underpower the diodes. This I rate is a personal preference, but I do not enjoy the frequency that ballasts generate and I am unfortunate to be able to hear the coil whine so I would prefer the silence of drivers. I see where Lumii are coming from, and I actually think it's a really clever move to use ballasts over drivers because anybody who's invested in a 600W electronic ballast to run their MH/HID bulbs can easily just switch over to the LED fixture for a slightly cheaper price because you already own the ballast. Even I have a ballast lying around from the old days (3 years ago lol).1 point

What Watt, do recommend for that size? Is there a difference? How do we know or not, if their ballast, isnt a driver, and that their HID, is like that of a car, with HID bulbs, and therefore could run LED, as there isnt a difference. The Ballast has a dimmer, well, set power modes... They never said you couldnt run the light on another driver, but they do say you'll void warranty doing that, so it's always a choice you can make or chance you take. With the efficiency as high as it is, with their ballast, I dont really see the difference, then help me see1 point

I'd be willing to bet we are one generation away from what will become the new standard for LEDs. I think bar LEDs will take over from QBs and the efficiency of the drivers will also increase. If they could maybe bump up the wattage, replace the ballast with a dimmable driver and keep it all at the same price, I'd be sold. We honestly don't need UV, we don't need IR, just gooi me that good old 3000k full spectrum and some 660nm all in a neat little package and we good son.1 point

I want to reconstruct my middle light into its original shape, and use it in my clone and mother tent now. Will make it so much cleaner in flowering tent, and give me light for my clones, as I didnt have one anymore and was using a 200w spot light LED since whahahah.1 point

The only reason I wouldnt do QB, and no offense only opinion, was coverage alone. Good price and good DIY replacement parts. Exactly, throw in the GIB LED, same distribution company, and way different prices, for essentially the same thing, bar the LED specs But, what if, those both had the same LEDS made by Samsung, or whomever, and they asked you double the amount for the one, as opposed to the other, when the Watts are slightly more on the cheaper Who'd purchase the first? Might have withheld data, for this reason, or it could be just a lower spec name brand, with their best chips How do we know???1 point

We are getting really close to having retail products that are just as good and as cost efficient as going DIY. For a long time, you had to build your own QB then guys like @Light It Up came along to essentially take the same DIY formula but get the parts for you and basically have it ready setup for you. One really big consideration I keep in mind with LEDs is what happens when you hit your rated 50000 hours of use, what are you going to do? Are you going to replace your entire LED fixture? Can you replace the diodes alone? I know for a fact that the QB panels I use you can easily remove the QB288 board with the diodes on it and just simply replace it. They aren't even grossly expensive, the most expensive parts of the QB is the heatsink and then the driver, both of which you can keep. So when it comes to the new Lumii LED, and let's throw in that GIB lighting LED as well, can the diodes easily be replaced at end of life? I gave it a serious consideration as I needed to recently purchase lights for a 1.2x1.2 tent and I ended up getting two 240W QBs for R6k1 point

Nothing solid out there, but alas the PPFD aren't that bad, and the Efficiency too... Might be naughty and try it1 point

I was trying to find what diodes they were using but they just have a bunch of info on the lens over the diode but other than ppfd readings they don't say much. Wouldn't it be funny if it were just the ol' Samsung LM301B/H diodes1 point

Somewhere, someone mentioned Lumii using Sanan chips, you can search the forum if you'd like to see for yourself, but cant find any backing data, though I have found on Google, 2 places saying they use their own / sister company possibly, called LumiLED (Philips made, correction) and find a few details for them, but cant be sure at all. The specs, output and such seem decent, and wouldnt mind checking it out properly Any more info would be great, someone know the guys at the company we can ask?1 point

So they are really starting to grow faster now. Gave them a good watering/feed on Friday. Today just a good watering. The sour diesel from seed stocker is showing no pre-flower yet. The Sour Apple from Humboldt seed company is just starting to flower. Gorilla cookies was stunted but after the feed is also looking better. And the 2 kushes have got lekker wife leaves and are looking good. Bobby’s widow plants are catching up now. The are 65 day strains.1 point

Not to worry. One of these days I should have enough auto flower seeds for all the street lights in Cape Town. And with the city replacing the old HID lights with LED’S it is just going to get worse.1 point

yeah I fully agree that the samsung diodes paired with red diodes will be the winner, but I am on the same page as you with the Lumii light not using the samsung strips, otherwise it would be the first thing they wana let the users know. I don't see anything about the brand of strip used. that concerns me and leads me to think it's bridgelux strips or something. in which case I don't think that light is that much better of an option than building a DIY with samsung strips and having the option to add red diodes on your own will. I am trying to figure out if that Lumii is really a better option or not. I mean if I have a DIY LED without red diodes that doesn't mean it has to stay that way and if the other option is a light around the same price but it's got weaker diodes just with red added, then I will stick with my DIY being the better option.1 point
