Third step of training complete! The branches have all been topped past the 4th node and now each plant has 8 specific stems to produce the canopy. On Tuesday I will be feeding from the Autopot reservoir and shortly after that I will switch on the air pump for the airdomes. I am hoping for explosive growth from that point on and to build this canopy as fresh as possible. I will start with one lower net that will roughly be the height of the current plants now and then later on I will add another net, probably a week or two after flipping to flower. No more flops. The goal for this run is to have as flat a canopy as possible, but also slightly bigger plants than what we have going in the Organic Tent™ but also keep the canopy thickness roughly the same. I have found that keeping a canopy of roughly 20cm thick is usually the move as you will limit the amount of tiny tiny popcorn nugs and have a little more light penetration in general for the most lower buds, but at 20cm thickness they pretty much get direct light from the LEDs. Due to the manifold one does not get the fat queen colas as you would with growing a normal xmas tree style, so by attempting to get bigger plants I am hoping to increase the size of the buds slightly even with using the manifold technique. This is also a part of the endeavor to increase per plant yield.3 points

Disclaimer - I'm not sure the source from where this article was created but this is ground breaking news as this is more progressive than Ive ever heard coming out of one of these committee meeting, this may have been at the end of the Portfolio committee meeting for public hearings, but its only coming out now after the latest and greatest already came out of the public comment reviews, this may have been a separate discussion with stakeholders and MPs, some real discussion it seems. Read below, article form Cannbiz New africa Brett hilton Barber. State Concedes that Private Cannabis Clubs Might Be a Good Idea After All! Senior State Advocate Sarel Robbertse has unwittingly provided ammunition for The Haze Club (THC) director Neil Liddell’s Cape High Court application to have Private Cannabis Clubs (PCC’s) declared legal once and for all. Lidell’s case comes up on Monday 6 June 2022, just days after Robbertse told Parliament that PCCs may be a valuable tool in allowing cannabis consumers who did not have access to private property to have an alternative mechanism. Cannabis Bill Kicked into Touch – Will Resurface in Parliament in August Senior State Law Advisor Sarel Robbertse has been given two and a half months to make the Cannabis for Private Purposes Bill (CPPB) fit for purpose. Parliament’s Justice and Correctional Services Portfolio Committee met on Tuesday to hear how the State would respond to private stakeholder input on the Bill, which in its current state is clearly unconstitutional . Robbertse’s rambling response did not instil confidence in the Committee, and although he asked for 10 days to get the legislation in order, Committee chair Bulelani Mgwanashe thought it best he take more time and present again in August 2022, after the Parliamentary recess. To what extent the new version of the Bill will incorporate the work done by the Private Sector Working Group’s (PSWG) legal team is at this stage unclear, but what is clear is that Friends of Hemp South Africa co-founder M Ayanda Bam, has played a major role behind the scenes in getting an over-arching cannabis regulatory framework developed that will eventually replace the CPPB. Justice Department Says It’s Not the Right Authority to Regulate Cannabis The Justice Department has finally admitted that it is not the right body to regulate cannabis. Robbertse was at pains to point out to MP’s that he was justified in taking a narrow view of the Prince Judgement and his job was to enable legislation that allowed consenting adults to consume cannabis in private. He wasn’t expecting to have to take on the rights of traditional growers and healers, public use by the Ras Tafari and other cultural communities, as well as Private Cannabis Clubs. All that, said Robbertse, was for other Government Departments to pass appropriate legislation. Important note – it may actually be happening! Robbertse told the Committee in passing, that he was also working on amending the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act, which industry stakeholders have identified as a major stumbling block to getting a cannabis economy going. Big Issue Coming Up: Cannabis Legalization and Substance Abuse by Youth One of the main issues Government is having to tackle is how it deals with kids, cannabis and the criminal justice system . There is evidence from abroad that decriminalization can lead to an increase in substance abuse amongst teenagers, and in South Africa it has to be taken into consideration that cannabis is the most widely-used illicit substance, and is a foundation ingredient in harder drugs like whoonga and nyaope. Portfolio committee MP Steve Swart is rightly raising alarm bells as to how cannabis legalization could harm kids.3 points

I bought a dab rig from The High Co and tried some of the hash pressed dab and jissis, this shit is another level neh. You dabber mense have been having this cool little party up here with this extra level of highness I'm thankful for my tolerance or I'd probably be fast asleep by now. I did over cook one shot and it fecked my nail up a bit but I managed to clean it out for the most part. I'm quite surprised at how smooth it is. Coming from a past of ripping water bongs I sort of expected it to be super harsh but a well timed heat and pull is great I'm never throwing trim away again!3 points

Hmmm .. I've already bought PH up and down, so I think I'm going to do the PH thing regardless. Everywhere I've read makes a pretty big deal about PH and how it can potentially stop your plants from taking up nutrients if it isn't controlled to within a certain range. Again, doesn't seem like a massive mission to do, so I'm probably going to do it. Seems like that will be more expensive than getting a pen?2 points

Now you guys need to start making vape pens for smoking in public. Best way to engage with normal people. goofed!!2 points

You could be like me too, never check it, ever... Many grows later, I found out recently that the Calsap product I'm using in my new grow, lifts the pH past 8.5 sometimes and the first time feeding that, was a huge shock to the plants. I now always pH, regardless. Ps, your Stormtrooper seeds are hunted, and have a female that grows fast like a male and the stem rub, yummy.2 points

Hello fellow fiends! Howzit! I'm super happy to find this forum on a casual night of browsing 420 events and finding a link to this site. Very keen to share my knowledge and experiences as well as learn from the local community. I've been smoking for a couple years now, and I'm by no means an expert. With how my life is right now, I have to find times to smoke where I can fully enjoy my experience, sometimes these times of calm are far and few in between, but when I do find the time to smoke or take an edible, it's always a great time. I've been to a couple 420 events like the Cannabis Expo out in Joburg, but some times it's hard watching people who just don't smoke get ripped off by vendors selling products for way more than their street value, I'm also a huge believer in moderation in terms of age. If your local supplier is selling to kids, find a different supplier. Smoking is an amazing activity, but I'm a staunch believer that children should not participate in cannabis what so ever, and seeing suppliers sell to anyone without discerning their age is incredibly disheartening. Now, there's a big reason this post is titled the "Edible Fiend Introduction", because that's me, the Edible Fiend. I started making edibles early on into my cannabis journey and I fell in love with them. At first, I created the standard edible recipe found online, and it was incredible. It was a delightful experience that got me glued for a long time, but the taste of the impure infusion and poor cannabis quality led me to wonder if there was any merit in the edibles. I tried a few from my supplier and found that they were much stronger than my edibles, but they tasted terrible, were expensive and often enough were just mountains of sugar with decarboxylated weed sprinkled in. I knew I could do better. Slowly, I began to refine my process with each iteration, changing temperatures and ratios with every iteration and noting the differences between batches. Using the same strain to control THC quantity etc... Through these trials, I have refined my process down to a relatively accurate science and I practice this science like an art. In the near future, I plan on creating an in depth post about my process and the modifications to the typical process I have made. As a teaser to end this post, attached is a photo of a recent batch of oil I created, the dark colour is a result of the material used being very fresh and not winterized for those in the know. The bottle is clearly labeled for obvious reasons, specifications on the batch: ~200g of sugar leaves & bud. 3 hour infusion. ~1.2ℓ of final oil. ~15-20g THC. Effectively 70-80mg per teaspoon. Egg for scale. lol. Can't wait to learn more from those with more knowledge than me, cheers!1 point

And they have done it again, great work Bertie and even better to come through such a distance and support the Agri Show, that is what cannabis community is about. Love these people.1 point

The Canna Club was there and just published this great video of the 3 days. Enjoy.1 point

Yeah when it comes to troubleshooting issues a ph pen is ideal, i just regret how little my pen gets used versus what it cost. Please send updates on that female cj.1 point

Hi it's me again, my new grow is doing very, well thanks for all the advice. I would like to know what everyone does to keep their tents warm in the winter. My tent is in the garage and I have build a iso board room around it but the plants still get a bit cold. Their stems are turning purple. I was thinking of getting a heater of some sort. Something not to heavy on electricity. Could anyone maybe recommend a heater please? Thank you very much.1 point

Thank you Darclinc. I'm so amped for the smoke test. We've smoked her before, but then she was grown by the guy who does the pheno hunting for me and that run had some problems. The smell has more pineapple this time, so I really hope that comes through on the taste.1 point

Here she is all finished up. I'm very happy with the result. She finishes strong, packing on the trichomes right up to harvest. The pineapple smell comes through a little stronger in the last week as well. Strong fuel up front, with pineapple finish. This is exactly what I was hoping for. She doesn't like too much light. The plants closest to the lights foxtailed a bit. These plants are all about 6ft tall.1 point

You dont need a ph pen, i hardly ever use the bluelab pen. I regret buying it. SA municipal water is usally a bit alkaline. A small fishtank airpump with a airstone bubbling away in your reservoir will bring it close to 6.51 point

This! Is! The! Way! I have sometimes gone weeks without smoking flower and just smoked rosin instead. It's also a nice way to give your lungs abit of a break. I don't know if you know but "cold starting" is the best way to spare your nail/banger. Rosin is the future.1 point

I have finished the second step in the training process. Today I setup the initial LST to just start flattening the canopy. Next step is to wait for 5/6 branches to develop on each stem then top after the 4th. The manifold should be roughly setup by then and I should also be running through the Autopots by then as well. Right now since transplant I have been lightly watering from the tops, no runoff. There is one plant showing a small amount of stress on one fan leaf, but that leaf will anyways be pruned when the manifold shape is completed. Before After1 point
