Dear Diary, Today I decided to finally start this diary and share my growing with other community members. This diary will cover my indoor and outdoor growing, but lets start with the Indoor Grow Room. After much effort and time I finally finished off my indoor grow room: You can see the full YouTube video tour of my Grow Room HERE To explain what you are seeing here: The space itself inside is about 3.2m x 3.2m x 2.3m high. All walls have been covered in Diamond Mylar and sealed with Aluminum ducting tape. I'm using the tent pole frames of two 1.2m x 1.2m grow tents. In the far back corner, I have a 12000BTU aircon connected to a Inkbird ITC-308 Wifi unit and vented through the ceiling. This unit controls the aircon based on the temperature under the lights, It's set for 25 degrees as optimal. When it reaches 29 degrees, it turns on the aircon and brings the temperature back down to 25 degrees. This leaves me with average temperature of about 27 degrees on the leaf surface. On the back left, I have a GMC Air Purifier with a medical grade HEPA filter, this is used to filter the air on the Grow room and remove things like Powdery Mildew spores. It can cycles the rooms air one every 30 minutes or so. How much of a difference this is actually going to make in the room is still questionable, but I'm trying it out. In between the grow lights hangs three senses. One for the Temp / Humidity sensor on top of the first light ballast. The 2nd sensor is for the Inkbird controlling the aircon. The 3rd is a Inkbird IBS-TH3 Wifi provides me with the temperature and humidity readings on my cellphone with reporting. For this grow, I bought myself some Sunplus Sundro 700W lights (https://plantliving.co.za/products/700w-led-grow-light-lm301h-8-bar-quantum-with-uv-ir-sunplus-sundro), these are connected together and linked to the Touch Screen LED master controller (https://plantliving.co.za/products/sunplus-master-led-controller-touch-screen). These lights run their Blue, Red/Far Red and UV on 3 different channels so they can be controlled individually.. from the touch screen... Like Sunset and Sunrise... this shit is like cool. Currently the plants are vegging under 70% blue, 20% red, 20% UV for 18 hours a day. Using 3 Wild Spirit CO2 bags, the keeps the CO2 around 2000ppm for the most part of the day. However when the Air conditioner kicks in, it extracts a lot of air from the room, lowering the CO2. I'm not to sure how to get around this since a wall mount split aircon can't be connected the Inkbird Wifi controller. Any suggestions welcome? The 8 plants are using the Autopot system and are Feeding off an 85L reservoir sitting in the front of the room. The grow room is connected up to a 3kVa Inverter connected to a 4x massive battery UPS . The exception to this being the Aircon and Air Purifier which are on normal power. When there is load shedding, I drop my lights to use 15% power (Well I press the "Cloudy" button on the touch screen controller, fucking worth every cent yoh). The UPS can hold the grow room like this, my Internet, PC and girlfriends PC for about 2h30m. If its a 4 hour load shed during the day, I can remove the towl from the window and get sunshine into the room which provides more than enough light. As for the indoor plants themselves, these are all clones from cannaclones.co.za and we: 2x Terple - InHouse Genetics 2x Zweety Inzanity - Ethos Genetics 2x Critical Cheese - Unknown 2x Dozi Killer - Jungle Boys Genetics I'm currently feeding these plants NutriGold (Nutriplex) hydroponic nutrients, with Silicon, Calmag and Fulvic Acid and the plants are planted in the Atami High Porosity Coco. Then for my Outdoor Grow for this year, so far we have: 2x Planet of the Grapes - Ethos Genetics 2x Mandarin Cookies v2 - Ethos Genetics 2x Blueberry Sunset - Unknown 1x Chempie x Purple Punch - Ripper Seed Genetics 1x Zombie Kush - Ripper Seed Genetics These little guys are planted in freedom farms green bag and chomping on Biobizz fish-mix for the moment. They spending the day in the Sun currently and the evening/night in the Tent to make up the 18hours of light. In November, I will plant them out into their 25L/30L pots using the Freedom Farms Green Bag amended with the Elemental Blend from Dirty hands. From here they will spend 100% of their time outside. I will be using a combination of Biobizz and Dirty Hand liquid nutrients, alone with some top soil amendments, Bio Boosters and all the Organic goodness you could ask for from an Outdoor grow. Well that's it for now, I will update again once I have some more content, let me know if you have any questions.6 points

Thank you @Naughty.Psychonaut and @Prom . I think i found the issue the room was getting too about 35 when i tested . Left the room door open with a fan facing out of the room to pull hot air our ...seems like the room had poor ventilation. I really really thank you guys I think I will just stick with the synthetic feed for now as I am very comfortable with this . See pics for the last grow I did with the ehg. I'm very proud of this white widow lol .4 points

Seed or clones doesn't really matter. Main difference is that clones will need support, seed plants usually don't, if you don't train em. As you said, after some years.. get your pH pen checked, just to be sure. They like to go off over time and need recalibration. PH is the point fucking you over most with chemical feeding. ^^ was a bit more as 27 degrees Just remember.. you shouldn't go over 30 at any time during your grow. Flower likes it max 26... over your terpenes will suffer. With a cooler room, the plants should be back to normal within a week. Put the light back where it belongs they should have 400-600 micromole PAR on em now.3 points

Thank you prom , sorry about my panic lol Its just my first time growing clones , and I didn't want the problem to get to a point where I couldn't get the babies back from.3 points
-
OK.. Coco.. sorry ^^ can't help you with that, i never grew a single plant in Coco base. All i can say.. hope you did the pH right of the feeding solution. Got your pen calibrated again?3 points

Using chemical feeding on soil is nothing wrong to do.. you just make your life one shitload more complicated doing so. PH will always be a concern and you have to put your feeding solution at the perfect spot. If you go organic, you can dump all those pH tools and simply feed. The microbes in the soil will handle your pH.. if you feed chemical/synthetic, you kill them and need to sort the pH yourself. Soil = Organic, Hydro = Chemical, Coco = when confused ^^ And please.. if somebody has a good case for Coco.. i would like to hear it. Till this day I do not know why i would use coco to grow in, i might miss something essential. Never used it, so had to quickly read up. Yeah.. i wouldn't use EHG in soil, that stuff looks to be designed for hydro and as usual offered the poor grower as solution for everything.. ^^ just not soil, to much hassle to use such a product, to many unneeded points you can screw over with no real reason. Like using organics in deep water culture, your grow room will smell worse then a sewage treatment plant.. noooo ^^ you go chemicals without smell. I go with @Naughty.Psychonaut go full organic if you wanna stick with soil.3 points

@SuMi with different genetics you can't really compare them this way, there's just too much nutrients present for the individuals that are reacting like this. when using synthetic nutes it's recommended to start in inert medium, meaning something that has 0.0 nutrients. I am helping a friend grow, and it's taking him some time to get around the fact that each individual plant needs different things at different times. He grew a batch of 6 plants, 2 strains - 3 clones of each. Even in his situation where he had plants cloned from the same mother who all asked for different nutrients at different times... he regularly gives the plants the blame when there is something wrong, I go over and ask why there is one plant showing claws? He sais the plant has been doing that because it's crazy and it doesn't wana stop doing it then I tell him well if you gave less N it would stop doing it, no point in calling the plant crazy He was under the imression that they all get the exact same all the time... which is wrong and where big problems come from. It's just that with clones the uniformity is a bit easier to achieve than with mix genetics. if it's all different strains you gotta look at all the plants as individuals and not all one thing. this will lead to toxicities and deficiencies in synthetic grows and organic grows. I would also suggest, choose either synthetic or organic grow. the two don't mix well together. It's a trendy new thing, but in all reality, they shouldn't be mixed. Synthetic nutes kill microbes defeating the purpose of organic nutrients that need to be broken down by microbes. Organic and salt nutrients can very easily cause root damage because organic soil holds onto salt nutrients and can build up in soil much quicker than in a coco/hydro medium where you flush out old nutes almost everytime you water the build up doesn't happen as easily cause you giving just what the plant needs and it uses most of that salts, ans in organic soil it focuses not on the nutrients, but rather what the soil does with the nutrients. if you add salts to that you slow down that process. It's just not ideal. I agree with Prom, flush the pots don't worry about organic stuff now, afterward stick to the synthetic nutrients, treat it like a full hydro grow. I would suggest full organic in future3 points

What soil? Or did you answer that question. Right now, can't tell you what caused the issue.. except ^^ your soil was to hot. When I panic I usually do the same, I flush the soil and go for a new start. Proper flush, give 3-5 times the pot size water (rain water or if not available pH'ed water) and let it run through the pot. Shake dry as good as you can after and see what the plants do. Let the pots dry out properly before you feed again, can take a week or longer.3 points

Very sexy! Nice setup! No.. VERY nice setup ^^ If you run CO2, you use different lights, they are enclosed and have their own air in and out. You ventilate straight outside and only use a aircon to combat the little radiation heat. You can skip the CO2 bags.. rest looks perfectly working.2 points

At round 2 months these 3 A99 are having a tough time but healthy. Planted these when it was still wet and brrrr. And I woke up and smelt the coffee. I'm always comparing my plants with others out there and mine always have more stretch.???? 60% shade cloth should do it hey. Such a Nana. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk2 points

Hi Guys , just got growing again after a few years . Having a bit of a problem that's eating away at me . (Please may you see the pics provided). Context : clones should be around 2 weeks old now after purchase. Growing under a 320w samsung Lm301b light . Had their first nutrient feed last night . Clones had thrips on them when I got them , so I sprayed them with Ludwig's organic pesticide.(think I need to spray them again). For the life of me I cannot figure out why these leaves are curling upwards. I have turned the lights down to about 25%. The temp In the room is around 27 degrees. Fan on all the time , not blowing directly on the babies. Can someone please help . Maybe with past experience?1 point

Only applies to Veg and that is a safety you shouldn't use. The plant needs more CO2 when it runs over about 1200 micromole PAR. So you have more on during flower. How much is your quantum flux meter telling when you have your LEDs up max at 50cm and how close you go to reach 2000 micromoles? Yes, there might be some heat protection from dying by over heating during Veg... but if you let your weed go during flower, and now the lights are really cooking ^^, daily over 26 degrees, you kill a lot of the terpenes off.. they start to decay over 26C. Your potency will suffer, if you can't keep temps down... CO2 on or not ^^ 18-26 degrees is the grow range you must be able to handle. If people can't keep temps down during veg, they will fail during flower when you run your lights on max (not even talking summer). Winter with no AC on i manage around 19 for veg and 24 during flower. Summer AC is draining my wallet more or less none stop while lights on to keep it below 26.. 24 kicks in and turns off at 20 (depending on weather and load shedding simply impossible to not let it pass 26). Some insulation behind the Mylar? Also, you have a refractometer to measure your leaf sugar content? If you want em to run max capacity, you want to be sure that they have enough sugar to boost photo synthesis (BRIX levels). Sugar to low.. rest can be perfect and you get zero advantage out of everything. At the end all things have to fit together to create perfect weed On your graph you already pass 28C on Veg setup, you will bake your weed on flower for sure.. you might want to think into a lot more cooling. Have you made a flower test run with a empty room to see how much heat you end up with when you have all running max? Let is run for 3 days and heat up the walls.. if you stay below 26 at all time, you have a system to start with. Still, high summer will need a second AC unit.. so a split unit with the right capacity for sure the right step. Other option is to simply forget CO2 during summer high time and run the usual 1000 micromole PAR setup.. so dim your monsters down ^^ saves cost. My honest opinion.. the first and last of those CO2 bags you bought... just run a normal setup and stay out of the energy power game. The more you put in, the more you have to cool down. I run 480 watts on a 1.2x1.2 area and more then happy with the results (reached 1kg dry on a square meter, no, no CO2 boost ^^ just normal QBs and Autoflowers). 700 watts for a 1.2x1.2 is a bit much but with CO2, might be worth the try ^^. Would be curious to see how much the harvest would be, same strain, Autos or Photos and compare 2 x 1.2x1.2 on 1400 watts with what ever CO2 gimmicks against 3 x 1.2x1.2 on 1200 watts (would use 4 x 100 watt QBs per 1.2x1.2). Sorry.. became a bit long ^^ but i was into CO2 maaaaaaaaaany years ago and simply couldn't measure any difference at the end. But again.. was a home system.. not a commercial build environment. I enjoy growing without AC way to much to go back to high watt numbers.. see no reason to do so to be honest never had better harvests as with LED now, HID is as dead as it can be. Will enjoy and follow your diary.. really really love what you did with the room.1 point

Doing half and half ....not fully sure about room temp ...should have an idea tomorrow ...but for sure I'm not over 28 degrees. And no they are not from the same plant...have 6 different strains , 5 of them with this problem . However they where all from the same place.1 point

are they all clones from the same mom? if not, you can't expect same from each plant. you doing full synthetic or half synthetic half organic? I kinda don't know shit about synthetics lol but the canoeing on the one plant and the clawing on the other plant and as you said the light is at 25% and way high... all kinda suggests nutes then. what are the highest temps you get there? heat stress without light can also cause canoeing.1 point

It's so weird I haven't fed them since last week . I'm using EHG nutrients which I always have , it's my first time growing clones. I thought they where big enough and rooted enough to give them a full dose of Nutes . I will give them just ph'd water for the next 2 feeds when I do water and see what happens . I'm just confused that the one girl is so happy with life and the rest are not.1 point
-
looks like you have the same problem I have however much nutes is present, it's too much. just go clean water couple times and back to normal after you see new shoots looking normal.1 point
-
Wow all the girls in the grow except one is having this issue ....this is really crazy , everything screams that it's the light but it's almost a meter above the plants and it's at 25% only . I'm at a loss.1 point

These Anastasia 99 autos, the big ones, are a month and some old. The bottom tyre I started as a worm composter for a couple of months. Then new soil I'm testing with perlite added in the top tyre. Plants seem ok. Another 6 Anastasia 99 autos popped their heads today. These little ones are in my strawberry tyres . 6 out of 6. The germination rate of your 99's @Bay Seeds has been 98% on my side. Well done my man. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk1 point

Clones can be very sensitive when replanted into soil. They are used to the environment that they were cloned from (high humidity dome etc.) The dark green and clawing tells me that the soil is a bit hot. I would suggest water only sparingly and see what happens. The thrips mentioned isn't ideal either. Maybe sprinkle some DM earth over your topsoil as preventative and don't fiddle with the plant too much. I had a similar issue and as soon as i just let her go, she recovered perfectly.1 point

The curl might also be because the plants don't like the spray you gave em. I have no experience with Dr Ludowigs Thingy Thing, Somebody in here used it? Never use more as the recommended dosage. A organic I like to use for insects is this one: https://hydrobiz.co.za/products/xterminator Lift your pots.. heavy means no feeding. I grew over 1000 plants and till this day I lift a few pots of a tray to decide if i feed or not. The moment i can ask the plants in what language ever: Are you hungry? And they answer.. i will stop lifting up pots1 point

I have only watered once now , have been like wetting the top of the soil as I was giving them time to settle into the new pots , like not even 10 ml when I was wetting them . For first feed which was yesterday I watered till there was run off . Was having this issue before the first feed . Maybe i could be over watering them . I will let them dry out and see if they come right by friday.1 point

What soil you use, how often do you water and how much wind is on the plants? I exclude light and heat/cold stress as don't think is your issue. If you didn't over water them or gave em to much fertilizer.. pests can do that too. And always respray.. even you think is clean, during veg you can hit em hard.1 point
