''Abiotic stresses reduce the photosynthates production, thus genotypes also reduce the reserve mobilization for tapetum cells which induce the significant reduction in pollen fertility.'' from: http://researcherslinks.com/current-issues/Pollen-Viability-an-Index-of-Abiotic-Stresses-Tolerance-and-Methods-for-the-Improved-Pollen-Viability/24/1/2563/html#:~:text=Abiotic stresses reduce the photosynthates, susceptible genotypes under abiotic stresses. edit: by now everyone nows im a nerd LOL was cool back in highschool before college changed me 1802 points

Not too keen on cs. Chances of hermies etc. Im old school. Going the old school way2 points

Ja. A couple of branches. Would still like to see what the redt of the buds would express unpollinated.2 points

you could also have taken this time to create fem seeds this is not considered true breeding tho would have preserved the genetic but its too late probably too administer cs sprays now. cloning her would help too edit: i realize this is rather off topic as your looking into collecting pollen , im just jotting stuff down at this point2 points

Ja kyk. Bro science is just that. Unverified findings. BS or not. Check this out: https://www.icmag.com/threads/the-ripe-banana-method-to-get-more-females.55086/2 points

you can promote maturation by means of altering the frequency of ultradian rhythms within its circadian clock of the male plant, this will require a separate grow space obviously alternatively and much less complicated to understand without background in plant biology would be to use ethylene to promote maturation. this is done by home growers with ripe bananas, also requiring a separate space2 points

Why not try Dank street collective? @Golden-Goose is also up there. I saw in his Instagram there is some plants available at Green Thumb hydro.2 points

Couldn't say if it will or won't. I take all my plants into a seed run in perfect health for exactly the reasons you mention. Healthy vigorously growing plants will produce more pollen, quicker imo2 points

I am planning to pollinate a strain in an attempt to produce seeds and preserve the genetics. Ideally i wanted to collect pollen and immediately apply to female but the male is a little slower to flower than the chosen female. If i introduce stress eg. drought, light deprivation to the male plant, will it speed up/increase pollen production and will the stress have an effect on pollen viability? @Totemic any input would be appreciated. Thanks1 point

your definitely going in the right direction, attaching a book in pdf on breeding. or rather theres a section on breeding after you skip the basics Marijuana_Botany_An_Advanced_Study_The_P.pdf1 point

hoor hoor people also dilute it to increase the spread..but maybe your only looking to seed one branch idk1 point

Nah all good. Appreciate knowledge. The room is the only isolated space available. Its actually an outside toilet haha! Fitting a led is no option otherwise i wouldve just gooied it on 12/12. Just not going to be able to maximize pollen production. If i can collect enough pollen to pollenate the chosen female i will be stoked. A little goes a long way.1 point

it wont make a difference honestly look into diurnal rhythms keeping a plant in dark or light conditions dont stop biological process within the plant over night. they continue as if it was going through light and dark periods as normal (the circadian rhythm) so you are mostly just putting a pause on photosynthesis, im not boring you?1 point
-
Far out! Check. Here's the deal. I isolated my chosen male by placing it in a seperate dark room. I need to collect pollen before it dies due to lack of airflow and light. Simple but not so simple.1 point

for now though, microspores are land plant spores that develop into male gametophytes, whereas megaspores develop into female gametophytes. the male gametophyte gives rise to sperm cells, which are used for fertilization of an egg cell to form a zygote. it is during the sporophyte phase that you can modify which direction the plant goes. so it can be done..im just not sure how this is done without lab interference, still reading.1 point

definitely thanks for giving me something to study ill get back to you if i find better information regarding this1 point

Howzit @420SA and fellow growers How about a little competition or even our own mini Cannabis Cup to bring some vibes back to this community? I notice that a lot of the OG members are MIA lately. Whatkind ekse1 point

i have seen no evidence of this, stay clear of bro science and trust scientific peer reviewed studies1 point

Ja i never feel the need to stress my females. Just an example. Shot1 point

Stressing a female near harvest produces more trichomes if i understand correctly. By stressing a male during flower should technically have the same effect in the form of pollen production then. Correct me if im wrong.1 point

Anyone use Canacuts recently? Looking for a clone supplier JHB. Sent from my SM-S906E using Tapatalk1 point

Hi guys, I took three cuttings cuttings off each of my different strains today. The amouth of strains is getting a bit crazy to manage so Im just keeping 1 of each as a backup. It ended up being way easier to just plant the clones in tiny pots and moving them to the locals than doing it all online. If anybody wants me to mail order any these I have a bunch of clone shippers left. 60 per clone shipper, 100 shipping and 90 per cutting. the list.... yes it was a mission to get all these. animal cookies, peanut butter breath, 10th planet, black wolf, slurricane 7, slurricane 9, strawberry banana, strawberry delux, strawberry pave, pave runtz, kc strawberry, khalifa kush, chocolate gelato f2, master kush, gorrilla zkittles, (watermelon skittles started to flower but took cuttings anyway.), mandarin skittles, dosi dos 33, quick critical, gmo, lemon berry candy, garlic mist, super silver pineapple haze, zweet inzanity, gozer og 1, gozer og 2, zettlers jane, sweet cheese, super cheese, blue cheese, cofidential cheese, purple afghan, black cherry punch, ww3, freakshow, trophy wife, double alien, golden apple. Drop mme a message if you're interested.1 point

I thought that about the SC from the Farmacy too. Really chill smoke, ticked all the boxes and the smell mellows in the cure beautifully. Just my opinion but it needs to be scrogged, which is no fun indoors. Next time I'll grow it in 3L pots, keep them small so everything gets good light. Did the Big Bhuddha grow the same? Would be nice to grow two strains and still get a proper even canopy.1 point

It's R150 each but we are going to have opening day specials like buy 5 get one free. Still working on the final details but ill let you guys know first. The main thing is our clones will be healthy and won't be tiny. I ordered from cannaclone, cannamart, cannacuts and biltong. At least half the clones looked shit and limp with cannaclone being the worst looking on arrival. I feel i could send bigger healthier clones, send them faster, and wrap them better.1 point

What you going to price your clones at? I would be interested in the Blue Cheese, Exodus Cheese, Mandarin Zkittlez and dosi dos 331 point

Ordered these 2 clones this morning. 3 Different exoduses secured. These cuttings are probably from natures farmacy but idk.1 point

The bag appeal of cheese is just so nice, it's a perfect all-rounder and always a best seller at dispensers. Exodus Cheese is probably the standard because even if you grow it outdoors you still get that distinct sour cheese terps that demand higher prices. Anyways for the last 2 months, I've been hunting and hoarding prized clones for this new project. I basically traded all the feminized cheese auto seeds from the last breeding project to make this happen and get some of these clones. The Godfather OG and the black wolf alone cost me 100 fem seeds.1 point

Ive heard of guys placing reg seeds in a container with banana peels wrapped in tissue or similar to feminize the seeds. Works 100% apparently.0 points
