I am sure people are still lurking a round.Eskom has just fucked up every bodies grows and it is really not worth growing any more for a lot of us. I am waiting to move into a new place so my grow has been discontinued since November. And totemic is making a new batch of seeds so buy April or so we might have a seed sponsor again @Totemic4 points

I would want at least 2g per entrant. I think I could get a good judge from that amount. So one would need to send in at least 2g x # of entrants. So if there are 5 bruhs playing, each bruh has to send in 10g, for example. 10 bruhs, 20g each, and so on.3 points

Power gone again... time to play with plants Need to stock up my stash, so took down 2 clones too, JetFuel, same feeding like the Gelato. Tablet picture... Proper camera ^^3 points

outdoor grown sativa from bag seed exact lineage unknown, only certainty is that its of southern african landrace. the limonene is strong in this one with a side of sweet aroma smoke report: hits instant, earthy on the exhale and with a taste on the tongue i cant describe2 points

maybe send the winning nugs here as their final destination, mostly for interest sake2 points

Im saying that you submit your bud of choice from your strain of choice. Regardless of medium, growing method etc. Keep it as simple as possible.2 points

Not yet. I heard via our bush telegraph that someone was using this soil on a regular basis. I added perlite to start then... Hang on. I'll give the whole spcheel soon. But yes there has been feed involved. Sent from my SM-A032F using Tapatalk2 points

As l was culling the male's I've been upgrading 10l pots to 20l. A bit difficult on photo shoots as plants are blending into background plants. A few plants showing slight nutrient issues but nothing I'm worried about just yet. Busy wording a summary of the grow up till now considering this grow is using R25/40l soil. Update on that shortly.2 points

Ja we can keep it simple. Forum members send their nugs from this season's outdoor or indoor say by June to allow a good cure for the outdoor. Not 50 fkn grams of course...and the judges judge.Your own strain would allow for nice diversity if things can be kept honest which i trust would be the case here. Easy. Fun and lekker2 points

na, have the driver connected directly to the plug ^^ and lost no driver since i use em. I have a spare.. not sure why hehehe2 points

I believe for an organic/soil based grow one would sprinkle diatomaceous earth on the top soil and water for a boost in silica which in turn reenforces the cell membrane within the plant cells which helps to prevent disease and strengthen the overall plant. When purchasing liquid silica it is recommended to apply as a foliar spray as to not disturb the microbiology within the soil.2 points

I have had no issue with my led drivers so far but I always buy products with Meanwell HLG drivers2 points

Already have my tickets to go. I unfortunately feel that the guys that won last year have an unfair advantage due to the fact that the grow with solar. So I won’t enter anything there until I have such a system.2 points

Howzit @420SA and fellow growers How about a little competition or even our own mini Cannabis Cup to bring some vibes back to this community? I notice that a lot of the OG members are MIA lately. Whatkind ekse2 points

also running a thread here on the grow would that be fine, i mean you wont be able to tell from harvest pics exactly from who the nug came or rather not. lol im really into this comp. got clones rooted already when do we start and by what time do we cut off the cure and send in nugs1 point

To take it even a step further. Qure can be approached to sponsor a full test on buds entered. But thats probably getting a bit technical. Would be cool though.1 point
-
As long as there is evidence eg photos that you grew the bud yourself it should work. Every entry gets say a nr and you take a pic with that nr with your chosen strain from before hsrvest to post harvest if possible.Easy peazy1 point

have you considered nutrient cost breakdown per plant p/cycle by any chance impressive what could be achieve with the basics. R25 per 40l isnt bad at all1 point

can work with that, limit on how many plants of the same strain though? id be using a stable strain but would like to try different substrates can we accommodate for this1 point

This could work just lekker. Some pics to prove that they grew it themselves would keep things fair.1 point

Let see it like that if you have a perfect setup and not win... will ruin your selfesteem You are very very good at growing... would have given it a shot to see where you stand. My competition weed is now cured 2 months... had a month stage 6. Curiosity kills the cat. Can only win in this competition... losing against a full solar setup is no shame hehehe thanks for the info, kinda relaxed now. I would have made a bet on your weed, if you would have taken part. Pictures dont lie... ok, except they are ai generated I go like usual... lets see1 point

just a thought we should consider many options but how about totemic splits his last stock of autos he's letting go amongst the contestant. they say autos are quite the challenge to grow even for experienced growers. id be disappointed having to go to my, ironically, go-to-strain that i've been growing over years in an attempt to win a challenge.my twee pennies1 point

It would be completely up to those participating. I personally wouldn't mind a comp where all the participants are the judges and every person that enters rates all the other entrants and the scores are averaged at the end. The criteria can be completely subjective and reduced to a single number out of 10 per strain per entrant. Smell it, smoke it, rate it.1 point

any case for us that insist on persevering through these grows, what are the cup details what rules would apply..yield drywieght per plant, or typical cup format by means of judging how would this work? so many questions1 point

since i only trust in applying auxins to stomata im gonna skip the silica then..thanks for input1 point

are you protecting them with surge protection and are they switching on automatically when the 'light turn on' so to speak.1 point
-
i guess this comes down to what information you got at the start. you mention second hand equipment but i'm weary of second hand led and their drivers that ''kak'' due the surge when the lights turn back on. still not sure if this is true but its what i was warned against so havn't switched to led yet. i'm looking for lumii 720w units if anyone knows anything. but i don't mind to wait till black friday for this hps doesn't bother me at all.. the startup cost of an indoor grow is enough to make most turn away from growing and continue buying some grams worth of bud at a time. or at least this is what i'm seeing with acquaintances. it is a lack of understanding of the dark cycle that load shedding scares people of too. but we are in south africa with 9 months of summer(did we have a winter last year in the western cape), id still say for now that growing outdoor might be best, and i'm not and auto flower guy but you can grow at least 3 cycles of them successfully outdoors..every year..its just more expensive with the purchase price of some seeds, again cash is usually an determining/deterring factor.1 point

just please leave some for me as well.. looking to add his strains to my collection1 point

silica (Si)- have read and seen the comparison charts on the different chemical compounds of silica, they all suggest agsil16h right.. but i just came back from the little hydro store with a bottle of feed4weed liquid silica which is all they had. it doesn't mention which chemical composition it contains. so im reading more into silica before adding anything to the soil. so my question is this, is their any difference when using it in soil with abundant microlife present surely they should be able to break it down into Si right? and how much of it is uptaken would remain unknown without knowing whats in this. do i skip the feed4weed and spend more time finding agsil16h? what would you have done im on the fench here, on the one hand i trust microbes to do this but on the other im not finding concise information. that or im using the wrong keywords in my search bar. any input appreciated as always. found this interesting - ''Silicon makes up 27.7 percent of Earth’s crust; it is the second most abundant element in the crust, being surpassed only by oxygen.'' silica being the combination of the two most abundant elements on earth.1 point

If you'd like to get into something coming soon, check out the @THCSA Cape Town Cannabis Cup. Thread here. Application form and ticket links should be there as well. With regards to our own 420SA Cup, I'm always down. Obviously the crowd was more present in the past as that was shortly after the 2018 Constitutional Court judgement which convinced most guys to start growing at the time, including me. Vendors have also been short in supply. I can only imagine this is due to the high over-saturation of hydroponic goods in the market currently as well as the over-supply of second-hand equipment and electronics from guys thinking they could cut it one time perfectly in the first grow. Howzit loadshedding. So spare cash to advertise on a forum instead of just on places like FB or Instagram is a factor for them. Lastly, it wasn't all too long ago that 420SA had an Instagram account but Lord Zuck decided to wipe it off the planet for some reason and another account wasn't made. This probably also lead to less organic traffic heading our way. It's a hard sell to get new guys into growing with this loadshedding kak. It's already hard to learn how to grow by yourself.1 point

I'll defiantly make a note to start a diary when I pop these I'm not going to be growing it for smoke though, going to try continue the line as I've always dreamed of having some gear from Bodhi in my collection, might cross it with some of the other stuff I've picked up as well1 point
-
I've also found that it is dependent on the type of person as well. I've setup some great grows for other people and given them any and all information they've needed when they needed it and short of me having to do the grow myself, they usually would move to other things within a year or two.0 points

All remaining plants have ended up getting Powdery Mildew and I've had to throw away the entire grow away. Pretty disappointing, this Eskom load shedding has completely fucked this grow up.0 points
