  1. I'm already in kak for taking up half the freezer space. Luckily I'll be starting the Hash making tomorrow or Saturday. Due to remote living we need the freezer space for important stuff like food. WTF? This is the first time I'm using terp loc grove bags and they will be re - used but mostly I'm using my collection of mason jars. I'm going to try using one of those black tote bins for now and hopefully that will work till I get to town in a couple of weeks. Yep. Can't buy fucking jam jars out here and 300 bucks petrol to the nearest place and back that do stock it. In the meantime I have put a 3g for 1 jar offer on the Bush Telegraph bartering group. Fighting humidity 101 here but getting there. Did a little test run with a couple of hands full of trim with my latest purchase. My wife got sent to town on a mission by her boss.

  2. 100% - and sometimes you even just end up with genetics that together create something special to run through. Each combination is so unique, depending on how each plant breeds. Sometimes you run an F1 population even, and find some really unique expressions that weren't really too prevalent in the plants used. But I do like F2s for their recessive traits. When it comes to flipping seed vs clone - it depends at which point in the project we are. When we are running testers we will run them from seed initially and flower them out, because we want to gauge what the average grower would get out of them. No good having plants that thrive from clone but grow terribly from seed. But you're right, we typically run plants from cut for quite a number of times before ensuring it's worth working with or sticking around and we do still take cuts of our tester runs, as you never know when something special pops up. It's not uncommon for me to have 50+ cuts rooting at one time. This can be a bit of a pain, but with just 2 of the regular clone domes (large ones) you can typically fit around 36 cuts. So just two of those is typically enough. To help minimize the requirement of cuts at one time, I take 2 cuts off each pheno just before flip and then if they haven't rooted by week 2 of flower, I take 2 additional cuttings as backup. Usually, 90% or more of cuts are rooted in the first phase. Backcrosses are good, but they are also best used when you really understand the genetics and the way they breed. BX is typically used to re-enforce certain traits. The plant you backcross to will be re-enforced by bringing more of those genetics back into the line. But this can also go really wrong if you backcross to a plant that has negative traits (stretchiness, low yield, etc.) I personally think it's important to test out a few beans of anything before gifting them out even, just so one can give them an idea of what to expect. The impacts of someone getting a tent full of herms can permanently impact your reputation and those people won't remember whether they were free or not, just the experience. Or just make sure they are aware its untested. If one isn't breeding with particular goals in mind, the other option that is good for just running through beans to find something special, is to do an open pollination with multiple males pollinating the same females at the same time. While this means you can't really reuse a male, it does mean the resulting seeds will have more diversity. If the goal is simply to find something special.

  3. They are going really well, very tempted to clone main stems off the tall one but waiting it out for sidebranches.

  4. It’s my understanding that thca is the acid form of thc as fresh on the plant. Once heated it decarboxolates and becomes thc. Thus the need to smoke/vape etc. for the heat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Yebo, heat strips the A and leaves THC, this is why we need to decarb for edibles. Can't get high with the A still present, basically if you vaping or smoking THCA in any kinda way heating it up before consuming, you actually just consuming THC. THCA raw wont get you high unless it's heated at some point. Basically, the reason why you can find CBD products on the shelf of dischem, clicks and basically every second commercial store is because cannabis is being regulated to some degree. It is legal. There's some movement, it's not like we stuck in the boendoes and the government sees "only dagga". that's a crude way of looking at it, especially since we have seen a whole lot more freedom for the cannabis community. Obviously it's not 100% legal, but to say it's still 100% illegal is just as ignorant. Our government sees CBD and hemp (a dagga leaf lable that has CBD or hemp written on it is good enough) and everything else is still under one umbrella. If it has a dagga leaf on it that doesn't read CBD or hemp - it's illegal. What I mean by SA being far behind on R&D is a very broad spectrum statement, you can see it in all factors. Our whole country is a "developing" country - has been for yeeeeeeeeeeeeaars - but instead of moving forward into a developed country we are moving backwards into an underdeveloped country. our "leaders" will waste their own time on that's important to them and still miss and slip up. when it comes to shit that's important for the country and its people they don't give a fuuuuuuuuuugggg... they're such air heads and the fact that we're so far behind leaves space for many many many maaaaaanny loopholes. almost like the guys taking these big chances are taking advantage of the level of understanding from our "leaders" side. cat and mouse game, we're one step ahead of them, but as soon as they catch on to the fact that some people outside of government was smarter than them they throw a hissy fit and make sure they rob you

  6. So typical me I didn't think things through again. Starting to look like a dispensary in here and I'm only halfway through trim jail and run out of curing vessels. Freezer is full (800g trim, popcorn and some washed bud) waiting to be turned into hash. So freezing not an option. I need suggestions on storing close to another 1kg until I can get my hands on more jars and grove bags.

  8. Have you looked at the Grove bag Tote Liners? They slightly cheaper than the 1kg Grove bags. https://hydroponic.co.za/hydroponics/terploc-bin-and-tote-liners/ Do you reuse your Grove bags?

  10. Make the hash and use the freezer to store your new batch If the material has the right moisture content, can also get a big plastic container with fitting lid, best vacuum sealed... if not, use duct tape to seal the lid properly.

  11. I'd second this. Both myself and my girl have had our accounts removed at one point or another. But there's no ban against cannabis posts, only about posts that revolve around the sale of it. All you'd need to do to get your account back is reach out to their appeals and state that you're a cannabis community forum based in South Africa, where cannabis is decriminalized and that your account has never engaged in selling cannabis. They'll more than likely return the account.

  12. Awesome work man, I can imagine once starting to do proper pheno hunting on that level it becomes more exciting to reveal recessive traits in the F2 pool. Right now I am basically calling a "shot at luck" my phenohunt, cause I'm still working with seed packs and never had yo work through a bigger batch than 5 at a time so not really a hunt. A question on the plant count topic, working with such a high plant count in a small tent. My understanding is you gotta clone every pheno before flipping, how big do you grow them before cloning and how do you go about the clones? If I got 25 plants and I take 3 to 5 cuts per plant to ensure at least one of each root. That's between 75 to 125 cuts for every pheno hunt. Is this correct, or how do you go about it? I've got a 2 or 3 ladies I would like to knock up, was thinking of doing a BX on all of them just to get the feeling and see what I can do, but also dig through my reg pack asap for the best male and hit them all with his pollen for a OX. Just testing the waters, seeds will be distributed freely as I don't have space to dig through them all especially if it's just the "test run" and don't really want to work with the seeds.

  13. Just changed all my indoors to 12/12 and finishing off all the photo clone I’ve been playing with over the next while. So far been getting pretty decent flowers without any backup, but the PM has been spotted over the weekend. Some PapaJ jadam and pm mix seems to have killed it off. Flipping everything also now allows me to keep the flower box open. The long term plan will just be to switch to autos after this is done and let there be lights when eskom allows. 14. Maybe ask on an American forum. We don't live in a federal government system, this is South Africa. We also don't have states, we have provinces. THCA is regulated the same way any other cannabis product is in South Africa. It is illegal to sell and trade*. (Real world results may vary.) It is legal in certain USA states because THCA is not a recognized compound according to the federal law on cannabis and this is why certain states in America may freely sell it.

  15. I have flipped the tent and trimmed the branches in preparation for the stretch and preflower phase. I have also put the pots into the autopot trays and have activated the reservoir. I feel there is little doubt now that the roots are well established, much more so than done previously. Canopy is also looking level. I've tried my best to LST the major branches to all be on the same level. Some plants have stretched more than others already, but I think I've managed to control the most of it. From the atrocious past run this is already looking much better. I was worried big tents were just cursed. Otherwise in another tent I already have some more ZxP on the way, looking scrumptious. I have the harvest date set for 11 May. Will take some trichome pics on the day.
